"Megaman VI is just like all of the other NES Megamans, but that's not a bad thing..."
If you've ever played a Megaman game for the NES, you'll know what I'm talking about. You go to different, selectable levels, where you get through the level and you get to fight different robot bosses, where when you beat them, you get their weapons. In this game you'll get to fight fake bosses though, and you'll be able to call on your friends, Rush and Beat.
The graphics of this game are, like in all the other Megaman games, top notch. You'll be able to see every detail of your characters, and all of the wacky enemy characters that Dr. Wily throws at you. Sound is also good, to the famous fanfare when you pick a boss, to the famous fanfare where you beat a boss, it's all there.
Play control is right on cue. You can jump, slide, shoot, and charge up your weapon with the greatest of ease. This game is about as challenging as all the other Megamans, not too easy, but not too hard. The interesting thing about this game, is that four of the bosses have "doubles", and if you defeat the double, you won't get a "Beat" letter, but if you defeat the real McCoy, you will. Spelling out "Beat" allows you to call Beat in battle.
Like in all other Megaman games, each boss is weak against another boss's magic, and after you beat them all, you'll have to go to a different castle (dr. x's) and when you beat him, you'll discover (like always) it was really Dr. Wily behind the evil scheme. These castles are fun (especially the room where you get to fight the 8 boss robots again), and add and extra challenge to the game. It's also important to note that two of the bosses (Knight Man and Wind Man) were designed by Megaman fans who sent in their submissions to Capcom as a part of a contest that Nintendo Power held.
Megaman 6 is very fun, but you have to face the fact that it's excactly like all other Megaman games. If you already have the other Megaman games, don't bother yourself with this one. However, if you don't have any Megaman games and you see this game at a pawn shop, be sure and pick it up! You won't regret it.
