"This one was decent."

Good WWF games on the NES were sometimes hard to come by. Hell...good wrestling games today are sometimes hard to come by, too. This title was at least marginally better than LJN and Rare's previous effort, WWF Wrestlemania. One of those improvements is the inclusion of two more wrestlers, bringing the grand total up to eight. The option to play as yourself is included again but I really don't think many people used it. New additions include the Big Bossman, Ultimate Warrior, Jim Duggan, and Brutus Beefcake, which means that a few of the guys from the last game got cut. I can't imagine Rare having to do a lot of roster management for these titles but hey, I don't make the games...

The graphics are another slight improvement. The wrestlers in general are better looking than before, but it still isn't saying much. The game does feature a new...camera angle, I guess you could call it, on the ring. It's more overhead than anything else, so you get sort of a diamond-shaped ring. It still looks like your standard NES ring, though. There's a crowd, which is more than most titles had at the time, so I guess that counts for something.

I don't think you need me to tell you what the music is like. It's there and it's what I assume is the best the NES hardware can do to emulate the actual themes. Of course along with them come the ring bell and handful of impact sounds. If you've heard them once in the previous games you'll know what to expect here.

They added a few match types so that you'll actually have something to do in the game. Now there is a tag team and six man tag match modes. All in all they're pretty good and offer up a nice diversion from the standard single match fare. The only problem is you'll probably blow through them and the whole game pretty quick. Since there's not a whole lot to the actual wrestling aspect of the game, it gets boring fast. Although each wrestler has their own signature move, outside of them there are only a few you can do. Mainly: the bodyslam. Nine times out of ten you'll probably find yourself bodyslamming your way to the WWF Championship.

I'm guessing it must have been really hard to make a good wrestling title for the NES. There are only a few, and even fewer still seem to have the WWE name on them..
