"Hey! You sunk my Battleship with your big missile thingy!"

Believe me folks, I thought this would be just like the board game. Call a letter/number combo and hope you sink something. This is similar, but upgraded. The game is played on a rectangular grid, not square, there's no coordinates to be bothered with, and it's you vs. the computer in a game of naval strategy and luck. It's slightly modified though. Each ship that you have has a special missile on it, and is capable of hitting more than one spot on the grid. The special missiles can only be used once, and if you lose your ship without having first shot the special missile, you lose the special missile too. As you progress through higher levels, you get more ships, and other added things like sonar and stuff. The additions add to the game, and depending on how you use them, can determine whether you win or lose. The computer is pretty tough in this game, and they'll throw everything they have at you when things get rough. They definitely do keep you on your toes, and if you aren't careful, they'll get you. Anyway, let's break it down.

Graphics- 7/10
Eh, nothing great here, nothing horrible either. The ships all look the same when you're firing at them, but overall the graphics are decent.

Sound- 5/10
Better just turn down the volume, or blast some Metallica or something. The sound is just bad, and the music easily gets on your nerves, so avoid the audible part of this game.

Challenge- 7/10
It can get pretty tricky in the later levels, and you'll often find yourself having to rely on luck alone to get by. Don't worry, there's a password feature so you won't lose your progress. And if you find yourself completely stuck, you could always go and use a Game Genie ;)

Gameplay- 7/10
Gameplay is simple, you can just pick up and play it. There's no control issues to cry about either. Switching missiles is easy, as is firing and such.

Overall- 7/10
This is a solid game, good for all you Battleship fans and veterans out there. The only thing you won't get from this are the little red and white pegs, and the little ships to put on the grid, but eh, you can live without them, besides, you probably have the board game in your house somewhere. Try it out first, if you like it, then find it somewhere and buy it.
