"A little heard of Data East Helicopter game"

There was nothing especially original about Cobra Command; you flew a helicopter and saved hostages. I guess the original fly and rescue game would have to be Defender, huh? Anyway, Cobra Command puts you in control of a helicopter battling other helicopters and rescuing jungle hostages. Data East isn't known for making exceptional games on the NES and Cobra Command keeps that mediocore theme going! Here's the numbers:

Graphics-7.3 Your helicopter has limited animation, though the way it banks as you accelerate is pretty cool. The backgrounds are kind of blurry and the game doesn't have any amazing shots. The hostages are little stick people you drop a line down to, which look rather basic.

Sound=5.0 Nothing memorable. The stage music is boring as are the intro and in between stage tunes.

Play control=6.0 Rather mousy control of your attack copter. As mentioned, the banking looks cool but doesn't do too much other than that. Your copter flies kind of awkwardly and is a little slow to respond.

Storyline=3.0 Rescue hostages, you are their only hope. *sigh* Ah well, it could be worse...

Overall=5.0 A VERY average game. It certainly doesn't get you pumped to play the NES, nor will it especially impress your friends. I've played worse--this is a super average game!
