"Konami yet makes another awesome sport game."
Double Dribble is a great basketball game. It has a lot of good parts to it and bad parts to it. Read on if you would like to know more.
The graphics on this are great. Its a 2-D side-scrolling basketball game so don't expect any special visuals. The colors are fine. There's a half-time show in this and its a very bad one. The graphics are okay when it shows the half time show. There was almost nothing wrong with it. The scene when you make a dunk is awesome too. But the screen sometimes gets blurry, and the players don't even have a face but thats forgivable.
The sound in this is great. Its very clear and great to listen too. They play the National Anthem and it sounds great. And they say a couple words too and there very clear. The half-time show music is good. It's just that its the same music every time and you can't skip the half-time show. But there is no music during the game except when you get a shot in and that only lasts for about 3 seconds. The dribbling in this game can get annoying after a couple games. You might want to put in your own CD and press the mute button.
The control in this game is ok. Its very simple, but when you first play the game you might have some trouble. On offence your use the direction pad to move B is to shoot and A to pass. On defense the direction pad is to move B is to jump and block and A is to steal. You really need good aim when it comes to making shots though. Once you get the hang of it you will no longer have any trouble.
This game is a hard game!! There are 3 levels of difficulty. You might lose your first game even if its on level 1. But then you can eventually beat the computer at level 1. But at level 2 its the easy for the first and second quarter, but the third and forth quarter gets very hard. When ever you go by a opponent he will steal the ball and make it incredibly difficult to steal it back. On level 3 every quarter the computer tries to take the ball from you. Its a very hard level.
Replay Value 10/10
This game has no season mode but it's just really fun to play. There are customary options. I will list them right now. Time- You can choose from 5:00,10:00,20:00, and 30:00 minutes. Team- There are only 4 teams. The only difference between all of them are the colors and mascots. Level- You can pick level 1, 2 or 3. Those options make the replay value a lot higher.
-Can't skip half-time show
-Hard at first
Buy or Rent?
Definitely buy. Even if you don't like basketball games you would enjoy this game. So if you still have your Nintendo buy this game. Plus you can find it for less than $5.00.
Overall 9/10 (not an average)
This game is awesome. I can't find a reason why anybody wouldn't like this.
