Welcome to Eliminator Boat Duel for the NES, a boat racing game released by
Sculptured Software in 1991.

02.) OVERVIEW & CONTROLS G0200
===============================================================================
Choose to start Single Player Easy, Normal, Expert or 2 Player mode with the
SELECT button. The object is to win all three races without losing two against
the opponent. If you beat Easy mode you will automatically advance to the next
difficulty and so on. When advancing you get to keep all money and upgrades
from before.
During the race, use the D-Pad to control the boat's direction, use B to
accelerate and A to activate a turbo, which also makes you jump as you are
thrusted forward.
The small (N) are turbo charges, drive over them to gain two extra.
Money is important in this game, as you are able to repair the boat and
purchase upgrades. You gain money from winning races, but can also pick it up
during the race as icons, or if you beat the winning time ($1,000 per second).
In each race the winner get $40,000 whereas the loser only $15,000.
A false start on the other hand is a $2,000 fine. When the race begins, don't
start before the girl waves the flag. If you made a great start the other girls
will cheer you on. Shortly after the start the game will switch to the behind
or overhead view, and the actual race will commence. The racer who is first
through a section gets a $5,000 bonus, this includes the last the start and
finish as well.
Avoid all obstacles and get to the finish line. The first place wins a lot more
money than the second, therefore gaining an advantage early with upgraded
parts. By the end of the game, the opponent's boat will also be close to fully
upgraded, even with all the losses.
The top or bottom has the display of time, damage, nitro boosts and map
section. It switches around depending on what kind of view the correct track
has, e.g. top-down will have it at the bottom of the screen. The number of
sections also includes the start section.

This is the first time there are all three different areas combined in one
race. However, none are really challenging.
After a few jumps in the coast area and avoind the sharks, there is a short
ocean race. The third part is long, very long. For the bends simply keep in a
diagonal line and you should go through them with ease.

get a map at the beginning and some items may be random. This is pretty much
the same race as previously but the last part which is just another very short
ocean track that shaves off a minute from the previous time to beat.

about $1m you can upgrade the entire boat.

Remember, a damaged boat goes slower and it is cheap to repair. Of course I
don't need to tell you that not damaging your boat during a race would save you
money usable for other upgrades.

Turbo Acceleration:

Gameplay: 5/10
24 tracks against 8 different opponents. Easy to way too easy, the later
stages are quite hard and you really need to start with the first race and
always win a lot of money to stay ahead of the opponent's skilled boat. Later
on the opponent will have a maxed out boat no matter what and beating it is
not too straightforward. The fun is in 2-Player mode. Some tracks are really
short and others mostly copied parts from previous races and pieced together
in different ways.
Graphics: 7/10
Nice, especially the birds eye view. I'm not so into the cheering girls they
plastered into the race though and the ocean race is hard to control because
objects appear out of nowhere very quickly.
Sound: 5/10
Average. It also doesn't change throughout the game.
Overall: 5/10
Interesting for a short time, and unless you have somebody to play against
it will be boring too soon.
