"A not so great follow up"

I am a fairly old school gamer, so when I picked this up at first, I had high hopes. Having played the orginal G.I Joe, I thought that this would be something different. I meant this in a good way, but the game steering to the bad way, that I didn't want.

Story 2/10

The story is super weak, well nothing that different from the orginal. Well, Cobra Commander, has resurfaced using some power source thing in the lost conitient of Altantis plans to take over the world. So the joes have to stop him. It's not a compelling story, but hey it typical of action games at time.

Gameplay 5/10

Some of the controls were just weird like pressing up and select for switching items and then down and select for using them. I wasn't confusing just baffled by the times I want to duck and switch to another weapon, could no, i would be using a item. Well, there are some good things about the gameplay. Ok, they added a few weapons like lasers and rocket lauchers. Each character had the own ablilities at the player's disposal and allowed for improving the power of thier fists and weapons. On the other hand, once I found all 6 characters, I had 2 levels left and not enough time to build thier levels, leaving me quite screwed for even picking up these people. Well, you are able to choose the level you want to go, in a sense, because you're restricted to a map with paths.

Music 1/10

Music really isn't a factor in a review for me but I must comment on the horrible choice that Capcom made for this game. I'm playing the game and come along to a mini-boss and I heard music like really bad keyboard music. I don't know but I think the guys in charge of music were watching 'Action Jackson' while writing the game's music. I say this because the final fight sense in that movie had some REALLY bad keyboard music. The NES wasn't that good for sound but come on!

Replay 0/10

There is no replay here, I beat once and the one and only reason I going to replay the game is to write a walkthough and that's it.

Differculty: 2/10

This where I'm going really tear into Capcom, this game was way too easy. It took me 45 minutes to first beat the game, now it's like 10. Every ememy had a pattern that was easy to follow. When I say every, I MEAN every, even Corba Commander, fairly tough to beat in the orginal G.I Joe, was a major wanker, by far the easiest boss in the game, I had a tougher time fighting a mini-boss, this was a big dissapointment, and I thought final boss were supposed to give the player a run for his money.

Overall 1/10

Thank God that NES is extinct so we old school system people like myself are not surse with such crud like this game. But since games for the NES are so cheap now, it doesn't matter if one buys this or not. I wouldn't buy it but who am I kidding I own this this flith, because like I said earlier, I had such high hopes.
