Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (Taito)
Review by Jack Bando
"A movie game done right"
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade for the NES does justice for the movie. It has good graphics, movie music, authentic plot and a great amount of fun factor. The only error is a huge lack of sound effects.
Graphics-7/10 The graphics in IJatLC has decent graphics for when it was made. The in-game action has no slowdown and the characters resemble their silver screen counterparts. The cut-scenes are excellent and tell the story of the movie very well.
Music/SFX- 8/10 The music in the game is very good. The music is authentic to the movie and sounds very well made. The sound effects in the game are decent. The whip really sound well. The main problem is they sound muffled and there are only around five sounds in the whole game.
Plot-9/10 The plot in this game is exactly like the movie to the letter. Indiana Jones must find the Cross of Coronado, find his father, and stop the Nazis from getting the Holy Grail and taking over the world. It does have one or two minor changes, like Venice wasn't a puzzle in the movie.
Fun-8/10 This game is fun to play. The fighting levels are easy to control and require fighting skill to win. The puzzle levels require brain power and make you think. The only real problem is that the whip isn't as easy to use as it should be. Also, some levels are really easy while a few are almost impossible to beat.
Overall-8/10 Overall, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is a great movie game. The game has good graphics, authentic music, authentic plot, and is a fun game. Sadly, they needed more sound to be a superb game. But that dosn't stop it from being a great item for an Indiana Jones fan or a hardcore video game player.
