"Oh, shoot! *BANG!!*"
This game was a translation of the Arcade version, which let you play with a gun. You can use the zapper on this, which makes it feel more like the arcade a little bit.
The graphics were good, but they seemed rather bland as well. The enemies looked a little bit squashed together, but there was a nice variety of them. The cool part were the variety of enemies. There were guys far off, to guys right in front of you! The tanks/ships/helicopters could've used more color in them. Grey is boring, people!
Great sound effects! The music was OK, but the sound effects were pretty good. You even here the sound of glass breaking if you shoot a window! That's really good! The clank sound of shooting a tank/helicopter/ship is OK, but it gets old quickly because you have to hit them about eight times each. There's also a little siren somewhere in the game that sounds when the enemy ''spots'' you, that always surprised me.
The goal is simple: Shoot or be shot. There's six levels in the game that increase in difficulty quickly. There's also a level where the enemy ''spots'' you and you have to get through that. There's even an objective in level 5 to save all the prisoners! Very innovative, but more could've been done in the other levels as well, besides trying not to shoot innocent bystanders. Speaking of that, I feel like there's too much of a penalty when you shoot an innocent person. It shouldn't take a good chunk of life away, for cryin' out loud! Also, the ammo refills don't seem to be in very large quantites, mostly because you're shooting the hell out of everything that moves, and it's easy to run out of bullets and grenades quickly. The grenades especially, because those tanks/helicopters/ships seem over-plentiful, and you don't seem to get enough grenades. Thank god you get a full supply of Ammo at the end of level 4.
Replay Value: 7/10
This is due to the challenge factor in the game. Basically, this is a hard game. Once you do beat it, though, you may not want to play it again, because the game just repeats itself over and over. It does get old quickly after you beat it.
This is a good transition to the arcade. If you like shooters, then go right ahead and pick this game up. If not, you might want to steer clear of this. Overall, this is a very good game, and I wish there was a sequel!
This is the Rick, sayin', ''See ya!''.
