Zoda's Revenge: Star Tropics II
Review by Logik
"An addictive Zelda clone that will keep you coming back for more!!"
Introduction
StarTropics 2: Zoda's Revenge is a highly fun and addictive game that will keep you coming back until the very end! Although I've never played the first one, I am fairly sure that the sequel surpasses it in almost every way. If you are a fan of The Legend of Zelda, you will love this game!!
Story (8/10)
StarTropics 2 has a fairly simple story. You are Mike from the original game, Zoda is back and worse than ever. Mike is sent through time, collecting tetrads (which are amazingly similar to tetris pieces) in order to defeat the insanely evil Zoda once again. Along the way you'll explore rock caves, deserts, ancient ruins and much more. The story is not very in depth, but will keep you interested nonetheless.
Graphics (10/10)
Okay, the graphics are nothing compared to the Playstation graphics obviously, but for being on the NES this game has the best graphics I've ever seen! I would say it surpasses around 20% of SNES games as well. This was one of the last games releases for the NES, in 1994, and the graphics are an advantage of the late release. The overworld has graphics that remind me of Chrono Trigger (not quite as detailed), and the dungeons are amazing for the NES! Mike is designed 10 times as well as Link was, there are lots of colorful enemies, and the bosses are done quite well! Overall the graphics in the game are fantastic and they serve as a huge plus for the game.
Sound (7/10)
I didn't find the sound in this game to be all that great. The music wasn't anything special, I can't remember what is was like anymore. The sound effects were good for the NES and served their purpose. Although you may get tired of hearing them over and over and over again. Even though the sound isn't great, you probably won't even realize it due to the graphics and gameplay!
Gameplay and Control(9/10)
This game is VERY easy to navigate. You can easily switch between weapons and use magic items with no trouble whatsoever. This is an action RPG just like Zelda, except that Mike can jump. The two buttons are shooting your weapon and jumping, it can't get much easier than that! There is only one problem I have with the control...when Mike jumps he floats in the air, meaning you can control him while he's in the air, so jumping from platform to platform can get kind of difficult if you aren't careful, remember, Mike cannot swim!
Challenge (6/10)
Okay, okay...it's a pretty easy game once you get used to the weird jumping. Alot easier than Zelda in my opinion...but it's just soooo fun! You'll want to continue playing it even though it may only take you 10 hours to beat.
Recap
Graphics: 10

I strongly suggest you go get this game if you have an NES. If you think had played all the good ones, you're wrong! This game is awesome, go find it now!!
