Super Spike V'Ball
Review by Webster1209
"Very entertaining game!"
Super Spike Volleyball is a very good game for the NES. In the game, you get to choose between going for the American Cup, the World Cup, or just playing a fun game against a friend or computer controlled team. In the American Cup, the first team is easy, the next is a little harder, until you get to the fifth and final team, which is fairly challenging, but if you want a real challenge, go for the World Cup! In the World Cup, the first team is harder than the last team in the American Cup! There are more matches, much more challenge, and much more of a feel of accomplishment. You can also choose between an average team, which is average all around, a power team, which is slow, but can spike the ball very hard, the speed team, which is very good at moving around the court, or the block team, which is very good at blocking other spikes. This allows you to customize your team, and decide which you like best.
Gameplay: 10/10: Gameplay is a big factor in the score. The controls are easy, and it is very fun to play it. The B button jumps to either serve the ball flatter, to block an incoming spike, or to jump up when you are attempting to hit the ball back over the net. You can also tap the B button while in mid air to add power to your spike, and knock the other team around the court, literally! The A button throws the ball up when serving, hits the ball when serving, hits the ball when spiking, and dives for the ball when the other team spikes it at you. It is all about timing when it comes to this game whether it is blocking, spiking, serving, every aspect is timing.
Challenge: 10/10: Just like a game should be, the first team is easy, and they get harder and harder as you move up. The opposing teams will get better at blocking, will serve it differently, serve much harder, ect.
Graphics: 8/10: The graphics are pretty good in this game. The people you play as and the crowd are kinda like statues with moving legs, but the backgrounds are really good, especially in the Chicago and Las Vegas area with the casinos and lights at night!
Sound: 6/10: The sound effects of spiking and blocking the ball are very good and fun to hear, although the songs when you are playing against the other teams can kind of get a little annoying. Not too bad though.
Rent/Buy: Buy it! The replay value in this game is really good, and everything else about it is great as well! Playing against a friend is fun, but playing with a friend is even better, since you can devise your own strategy for offense and defense! Great game!
