Disney's TaleSpin
Review by Ofisil
"A Shooting game by Disney. 'Nuff said..."
TaleSpin is a Shooter developed by Capcom. Just like most Disney games this is just an excuse for making a game out of a cartoon franchise and make the fans buy it. In fact I simply can't see how a boring game like this could ever sell any copies if it weren't part of a franchise. Rarely are these games any fun or at least original and this is no exception. Expect nothing more than a simple shooter that will last for about an hour
Gameplay: 4/10
Replay Value: -5/10
In TaleSpin you have to fly a small airplane through various levels, shoot down enemies and collect items to gain money. The controls are simple and the gameplay doesn't have anything special about it apart from the fact that you can rotate your aircraft in a 180degrees fashion in order to move and shoot in the opposite direction
apart from that there isn't really anything special about the game. Shooting down enemies is quite easy and bosses are all about figuring out their simple- patterns and nothing else. Apart from all the shooting you can find various items in the game, some in your path some hidden, all boring to collect
their only use: upgrading your aircraft with the money gathered
as if that makes such a boring game any better
Simply put, TaleSpin is a boring game that you won't play more than once.
Graphics: 6.7/10
Design: 5.5/10
Sound: 6/10
Music: 6.5/10
Well the graphics of TaleSpin are mediocre
some could call them good and indeed in a way they are, with nice, clean sprites and good looking levels
but everything is so unremarkable. You might say that it's just a Disney game but I've seen games from Disney looking quite good like Tiny Toons or Duck Tales so it could be much better. Also there isn't really any worthy of mentioning when it comes to the audio of the game. What we have here is just your typical videogame sound effects of the 8-bit era, (which also luck variery) and a collection of music themes that is also quite insignificant, maybe a bit too insignificant because while most Disney games of the NES are lame, at least they have a bit good music, (like for example Duck Tales). It's not bad, it's just
very, very, VERY forgettable.
