Tiny Toon Adventures: Cartoon Workshop
Review by Pokejedservo
"Best Tiny Toons game ever. (And its a great NES game nevertheless.)"
Ah Tiny Toon Adventures, the definitive WB animated series from the early 1990's that even to this date is known as one of the best WB-made animated comical shows ever made. And it had a pretty decent history into Video Games as well. Sure those such as ''Tiny Toon Adventures (NES)'' and ''Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose (SNES)'' weren't truly great since they both have their fair share in considerable flaws but they were still good games nevertheless. But this and I mean THIS game was, no IS the show's absolute FINEST hour when it comes to Video Games. (And its a very good game as it is.) Its a brilliantly conceived ''Movie-maker'' game that not only does its source material a LOT of justice. It also does the system its on an extra good amount of justice as well. Oh sure the NES isn't seemingly the ONLY video game system with great unique games but this is one of the many reasons why the NES was so absolutely full of them.
The point of this little gem is that your making a TTA short cartoon and you have PLENTY of features doign it. Like all sorts of scenery such as Acme Looniversity, a Village, a Ominous Castle and more. Along with ''One-Color only'' backgrounds just for the fun of it. The cast of characters in this game are the following Buster & Babs Bunny (No relation of course, sorry I couldn't resist), Plucky Duck, Furball, Calamity Coyote and Little Beeper. You control what they do and they have QUITE the variety of actions that they can do some of them might be suprising to you but I won't reveil much. It also has a very nice selection of music, sound effects, ''dialougue inserts'' and more. You basically try to utilize all of this to make a good TTA short and after when your done you can make a very good TTA short if your creative enough.
Sure some of the stuff in this game may seem limited in certain areas, but you got to remember is that this game is still on the NES which despite how great it is, it is still a rather technologically limited system. However another great thing about this game is that it utilizes the NES' strengths and weaknesses very well so it certainly doesn't waste the system's power and its gives you a very nice feeling that they utilize the potential & possibilities of the game quite well. However despite on how it uses what it has well, one could still wish that certain things had a little more. (Like adding in a feature in ''dialougue additions'' on where you can write your own dialougue in it instead of the stuff they already have for example. The stuff they have isn't bad but it would've been nice if they could do more. And of course it would've also been nice if it had more characters like Hampton J. Pig, Shirley the Loon and Fifi LaFume and the like.)
But still this is quite the exceptional game and is overall a very good example of creative gameplay. Its not incredibly easy to find but its not WAY too hard but still it is a very worthwhile game to get since is such a highly recommendable game in just about every single aspect.
+ ANOTHER great example of a brilliantly done & quite unique game for the NES.
+ THE best Tiny Toons game ever made
+ Great choices of options in the many areas
+ It utilize's the systems capabilities & such quite well
+ Its got GREAT replay value
- You might occasionally want certain options to have a little more
- It would've been nice if a few of the other TTA characters were in it as well.
