SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium
Review by metalslug53
"Clickitty, Click Click Click!! True sounds of a good fighter. . ."
*Sighs, ahem, I am completely sorry. But, I don't think that I can summarize this review any simpler then this: YOU HAVE GOT TO PLAY THIS GAME!!
If you are a big fan of SNK and/or Capcom, you will agree that these are the two big companies when it comes to slicing at each others' throats. But, if you DO agree with me, you will also agree that when they aren't trying to KILL each other by releasing new games, their momentary Cease-fires can result in the production of GREAT games. AKA, SNK Vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium.
Well, these days, in year 2004, you will RARELY see someone with a NeoGeo Pocket Color in replace of a GBA SP or any other Nintendo handhelds. But, I will tell you this: When I played a friend's copy of this game, I searched at about 10 used Book and Game shops to find a copy and a NGPC just for this game. Now that I have it 24/7, my GBA SP is on a shelf collecting dust and my NGPC is breaking into my feel every waking second.
Now, onto the review:
GRAPHICS-10
Well, in this day and age, these kinds of games with 16-bit graphics would get such a low score if they were introduced on a handheld that could handle 32-bit graphics. But, seeing as the NGPC came out about the same time that the GBC did, I won't complain. The graphics are truly amazing for such an old system. When I turned it on and began playing, I almost thought that this could have been a good GBA title, but I now know it is much lighter then that.
CONTROLS-10
Controls are VERY sweet in this game. The control stick and the AB buttons react VERY well together, much like it would on an Arcade console. I especially like the clickity-click of the stick when you move it. Combos are very easy to perform and are so much fun to do.
SOUND-10
Well, for a system that couldn't handle such too much noise, this sound is VERY good. All the old songs from previous SNK and Capcom fighters are in here, cleverly mixed in between fights. Kick nad punch noises are also very clear, making this game awesome.
STORY-11
The story of SvC is actually very unique with the game. The fact that a fighter even HAS a story is still very impressive to me. That's why I give this an 11.
BUY OR RENT??
Well, apparently, this game was good enough to make me spend $60 just so I could play it, so what do you think the answer is? (To tell you the truth, I have never played a SNK or Capcom fighter before either!!)
