Total Annihilation: Kingdoms
Review by Kain vs Raziel
"If you want a stratigy game, this is it!"
Total Annihilation Kingdoms is a unique game, in my opinion. The game plays like a cross between Age of Empires and Lords of Magic. You are continuously playing, and have no turns for each team. It is a real time strategy game, so I hope you have fast and intelligent reactions.
Gameplay 9/10
It is really easy to play, and not very hard to master. The mouse is the main thing that you have to use.
To do well in the game you must strategically use each individual type of unit to there full potential. Each unit has different strengths and weaknesses. Some also have different attacks. Learn each unit abilities, and you will conquer.
To do well in this game, all you have to do is think and act fast.
The one thing that I could never figure out is how to find the diety. Each sibling has a diety that randomly appears. Through all the time that I played the game, I never once saw any of the deities. In the manual it says that they randomly appear when the certain person is around. All I know is that it never worked for me.
Graphics 8/10
The graphics aren’t real high because of the type of game. You continuously have an aerial view of the battle. This makes the units small, thus using less high-tech graphics. The fire looked pretty good and the water graphics were okay too. I would have to say that the dragons looked the coolest. There are four dragons, and each one of them look different.
Sound 10/10
No problems with the sound/music, seemed to sound good.
Story 10/10
The story’s prologue (what happened before the game) is in the manual, and it is around thirty pages long. The rest of the story is told through out the mission mode in the game. I have to say that they must have worked on this story for quite a while. Basically the story is four siblings that control great and powerful magic all get into one big fight. You can choose your side, but in mission mode you are not able to choose.
Lifespan 8/10
I played it through the whole way once, but I did play multiplayer quite a bit. The Internet play is fun and also extends the life of the game.
Overall 9/10
It is an overall great game, and will bring you a lot of fun. The battles can be pretty lengthy, but I think it is worth it.
