Who Wants to be a Millionaire?
Review by Duke Nukem
"It should be "Who wants to be the first to kill Regis?""
OK, I got this game for free. I got it in that General Mills promotional thing where you get a free game when you buy the cereal. I was wondering how good it was, so I picked it up. I'd rather have Oregon Trail, but this'll have to do.
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics are sweet. The studio looks just like the real thing, except Regis doesn't sit in one of the chairs and there's no audience. The graphics look just like the TV show. Best of all, there's not a whole lot of framerate drops, which is cool. Everything's bright & clear and nothing is really hidden.
Music: 9/10
The music is the same thing from the TV show, nicely digitized. The tension & victory themes are all present, as are the cool sound effects.
Sound: 4/10
This is a real killer. All the sound effects, what little there are, are neat, but the main gripe is 'ol Regis. This guy speaks every 2 seconds, and he really gets on your nerve. I mean it, he will try to get on your nerves every time he has a chance to speak! After like 2 times, you'll just want to grab a shotgun and shoot him right then & there. ARG!
Story: N/A
.....It's a game show. IT DOESN'T HAVE A STORY!
Gameplay: 6/10
The whole trivia thing is good for the first 2 or 3 times, but you need a good deal of TV History & regular history knowledge to succeed. Some questions are about what musicians that don't play anymore names are, some are from sports teams that were around in the 1920s, etc. Barely any of the questions are from the 80s or 90s. And they repeat a lot. I've played it about 10 times and I already have repeats! It's harder to get the questions on here than on the TV show. So far I've reached $32,000 about twice, $1,000 about 5 times, and the rest 0. -.-;; Forget the million. Also, don't even try to do the Fastest Finger thing. Just flip a coin and decide who's gonna play and have the others help.
Overall:
Overall, this is for diehard fans of the TV show, of which I'm not. If you ARE going to play this, put the volume on mute & turn on the radio. At least you won't hear Regis laugh at you for not getting a million. He's worse than the TV show! That's saying a lot.
