Diablo II
Review by Lil Kid Rock
"Killing the devil can be fun!!!"
Intro
How many years in the making? I dont know... 3 or 4 or maybe more... Was it worth the wait? In a word, yes. There are a few flaws, but not enough to bring the mark below a 9. The graphics may be crap, and the sound may be crap, and the story may be bland (except the sweet ending), but the simplistic control can get newcomers ready to go in minutes and the insane amount of replayability is, well, as I just said, insane! Read on, gentle viewer!
Graphix
The low point of the game is the graphics... Theyre just a rehash of the old Diablo graphics. Oddly enough, the graphics seem to get better throughout the game and by the time you get to Act3 and Act4, you might even begin to like them! Luckily, this game has very nice FMV sequences to help it out!
Sound and Music
Wow! What crappy music! It was god-awful! Just crappy remixes of the old Diablo music... Not that the Diablo music was that great in the first place! The SFX arent much to write home about either. Just *slash slash* *monster death moan*. Me? I dont even listen to the crap! I turn the music and SFX down to nothing and turn on the old CD Player! Its much more appealing than that farm-music! Blaaah!
Gameplay, Control and Storyline
Gameplay: Can be choppy on low-range systems and even on high-end systems. Battle.net games are the LAGGIEST things you have evr seen but oh well...
Control: Click, click, click... It doesnt get much easier!
Storyline: Not exactly superior, but not too bad either. Lemme break it down (without ruining it) for ya. Random person sais ''Ohhh, help!'' You say ''Ill help!'' and you start killing stuff. The actual story follows sum mysterious guy in a cloak, but I cant say anything more. Now, the story wouldnt be so good if it werent for the Epilogue which leaves the game WIDE open for a Diablo 3 or X-Pack (the X-Pack is already in development, btw).
Replayability and Challenge
Replayability: 5 different classes, 3 difficultys, a HardCore (only one life) mode, different ways to play each class (eg: Amazon- Bowazon, Spearazon, Javazon).
Challenge: Normal and Non-HardCore modes are unbearably easy, but go ahead and make a HardCore char and we'll see how AMAZINGLY difficult it gets!
