"This is Probably the best Doom for PC."
Doom II:Hell on Earth is made by ID Software. Doom II is a First Person Shooter (FPS) and like most FPS's you don't see yourself. All you see is your weapon or hand. Doom II isn't like the first Doom or Ultimate Doom. There are no chapters. Just 32 stages. In Doom II you have to kill monsters such as Imps, Lost Souls and Demons. In Doom II you have 9 weapons to choose from. They are your Fists, a Chainsaw, Pistol, Shotgun, Super-Shotgun, Chaingun, Rocket Launcher, Plasma Gun and a BFG 9000. Each stage in Doom II is different. Lets get on with the review.
The graphics are great. The monsters look just like they are and the background also looks great. The animation is super and the colors are done just right. Overall great graphics.
The sound in Doom II is spectacular! The background music in the first stage is very memorable and the sounds are awesome. When you die you will scream and when certain enemies die they'll scream for mercy! The Doom series always had great sound and music.
The control is awesome in Doom II. Keys 1 though 7 are used to pick your weapons. Certain weapons like a Shotgun and a Super-Shotgun are on the same key so all you have to do is just press the key twice. The Escape key brings you to the menu where you can start a new game, go to options, save, load or quit. Up is move up, down is move down, left is turn left, and right turn right. Holding shift while moving up is running up and holding shift while moving down is running down. Ctrl is shoot and Tab is to see the map of the stage you are in. Holding Alt while holding left is strafe left and holding Alt while holding right is strafe right. Strafe means to move sideways and is a very common move in a FPS. F1 is the key that shows you what all keys do, F2 brings you to the save screen immeadiately and F3 brings you to the load screen immediately. Those are all of the important controls.
Doom II has five difficulty levels. Although they aren’t called Easy, Medium, Hard, etc. They are called Im too young to die (Very Easy), Hey not too rough (Easy), Hurt me plenty (Medium), Ultra-Violence (Hard) and Nightmare (Very Hard). Hurt me plenty is where most people start. Nightmare is really an unfair difficulty. Nobody can win on Nightmare. The reason is because monsters are 10 times faster and shoot (if they have a weapon) 10 times more and faster. When you kill an enemy on Nightmare the enemy will come back to life in about a minute.
Replay Value 10/10
The replay value in Doom II is really good. Some people might just beat it and not play it again but if you enjoy FPS’s a lot then you might play Doom II several times before you just stop playing it.
-Excellent Graphics, Sound and Control
-32 very fun levels
-Many weapons to choose from
-Many monsters to kill!
-Replay Value is very good
-Nightmare level is an incredibly cheap and hard difficulty level
-Some levels and monsters might really get you frustrated
Buy, Rent or Don’t Bother?
Doom II is a very fun FPS. There is no reason why you should not get Doom II.
Doom II:Hell on Earth is one hell of a game. Buy it and you will be very happy.
