"A very good game, and realistic"

You dive down in an attempt to throw off a missile lock from an enemy SU-27 fighter aircraft. You reach a speed of Mach 1.5 and pull back on the stick to position your F-16 into a 90-degree climb. The missile tries to follow you but can't, and it misses by a few feet. This heart pounding action in ''F-16 Multirole Fighter'' for PC happens throughout the flight simulator's dogfights. It's a wonderful game that is fairly difficult and suitable for almost everyone who is interested in realistic air combat.

In the game there are 2 important options to choose from on the main menu. If you select the ''Quick Mission'' option it will give you a list of various missions you can fly. The other option is the ''Campaign'' option, which puts you in a realistic war-like situation after you register your callsign. One of the campaigns is the ''Steppe'' campaign, which involves the Serbs invading Yugoslavia. Your squadron has to push back the invasion and restore the rightful government of Yugoslavia. There are 8 missions in each campaign and once you have completed the campaign, you will be awarded a medal according to your performance. The campaigns add more realism to the game therefore giving it a higher rating.

Gameplay-8

The gameplay in this game is spectacular. It's a very fun game with many perks such as the campaigns mentioned earlier. Another thing that makes this game fun is the level of realism. This game is so realistic that it feels that you are actually flying in the aircraft! (a bit over realistic noting the fact that you can only have 8 air-to-air missiles with no other weapons on your aircraft!) Something that adds to the fun factor is all the weapons you can acquire for the F-16. For example, there is the AIM-120 AMRAMM air-to-air radar guided missile, the AIM-9 Sidewinder heat seeking air-to-air missile, the AGM-84 Harpoon anti-ship missile, the AGM-65 Maverick air-to-ground missile, JDAM bombs, and many more. The control is good, but not the best. The game freezes briefly when an aircraft is destroyed which becomes quite frustrating after a while and it takes over a minute to load for the next level. Besides that, the control is great.

Graphics-7

The graphics are not the best, but above average. The terrain looks quite unrealistic with only hills and mountains of different colors and enemies you destroy just blow up in a ball of fire and disappear. All aircraft are detailed as they really are in real life and the cockpit of the F-16 in the game looks just as it would in real life.

Sound-7

Like the graphics, the sound isn't the best. You don't hear the airplanes blow up when you hit them with missiles or machine gun fire. You don't hear the sound barrier when you pass Mach 1. The in-flight chatter makes up for those mishaps. You can give many commands to your wingman and the pilots scream ''Mayday!'' when they are hit. The sound of the engine also changes when you reduce or increase the throttle.

Challenge-9

''F-16 Multirole Fighter'' is a very challenging game that requires a lot of knowledge about fighter aircraft, maneuvering, and overall tactics. For example, in one level you have to climb so high to avoid a SAM (surface-to-air missile) that your aircraft nearly explodes. You also have to calculate how long before a missile will hit you when the enemy has a lock on. In addition, you must learn how to perform certain aerobatics such as the ''Split S'', the ''Immelman'', and the ''Hammerhead''.

Replay-9

You can play certain levels 20 times in a row without getting bored. In bomber intercept missions, it just gets more and more fun as you go along to see how fast you can down all the bombers and complete the mission. In air-to-air combat missions it helps you hone on your missile dodging skills. In bombing missions, you can practice your strafing by trying to destroy all ground targets with machine guns after you beat it a couple of times.

Value-8

This is a game that I would put a lot of money down to buy it. It's worth about $30 in my opinion, but I would put as much as $40 to buy the game off the shelf. That's just my opinion though, for I'm sure some people wouldn't take this game if it were given to them. Anyway, this is a great game and I'm sure you would like it as much as I have.
