"Re-Volt could of been a great game...."

Re-Volt has stunning graphics, decent music, a nice interface, good framerate, and a novel idea. So your probably saying, ''Why the hell did you give the game a 5 out of 10? Well, the reason is the play control. I can sumarize it in one word: sucks.

Re-Volt's play control sucks worse than a, ummm, high-powered sucky thing. Honestly though, what kind of crap cars do you have to race?? For example, if car A drives up a ramp, with one set of wheels on the ramp and one set off, car A should continue on at a steady pace until the ramp ends. The elevated set of wheels should fall and the car should continue as normal, unless it is a collasal ramp. Re-Volt amazingly breaks the laws of physics, by making the car flip on its back. And hoping up to a sidewalk is not a big jump. Another area the laws of physics are broken is when you clip a wall. Instead of spinning out as soon as the wall is struck, you can drive on for about another second, then spin out. Is this not stupid? The third instance I can think of is spinning out for no apparent reason. When jumping off a ramp onto a lower level, if you touch your wheels at all, you bounce around like a beach ball. I have 2 problems with this: First, a car would not bounce around if the wheels are crooked, it would tip. And 2, it would only tip if the wheels were turned a decent amount. When taking corners, you can barely turn your wheels at all. And yet you can amazingly turn them while jumping?! Wow!! Another instance of spontaneous spin-out is after taking a corner, even without hitting anything, you sometimes spin out. I don't know why. I race RC cars fairly often, and I could race better in real life blindfolded than I can in this game. My advice to you is to ignore it unless your the type that enjoys being frustrated.

Oh, and one more thing. I hate games that give the computer an unfair adavantage when the difficulty is increased instead of improving the AI. In Re-Volt, if you are ahead of the computer, they all suddenly get faster, and are always faster if set on medium or hard. Mario Kart first did this, but it was dwarfed by the rest of the game. Re-Volt has nothing to detract from this annoyance. Another reason why you should avoid this game like the plague.
