    Introduction
    ============

You haven't forgotten Metal Gear Solid, have you? A lot of action-
adventure fans might be disappointed with the short length of the
original Metal Gear Solid. Because of its popularity, Metal Gear
Solid has undergone a new remake. Known as Metal Gear Solid Integral
in Japan, and likely to be called Metal Gear Solid VR Mission in the
US, will this remake be worthwhile? Though games like Azure Dreams,
Suikoden, Vandal Hearts were never a hit, it did represent that
konami is creative to create innovative game. Metal Gear Solid
surpasses all that. [Did anyone mention Contra?]

Before i say anything, i will like to thanks the staff at Konami,
making this remake possible. And Hideo Kojima too, being the director
of Metal Gear Solid, creating such a fantastic game. Call this an
expansion package of the original version, a new remake, or an
installment, Integral has contained 300 advanced VR Training that
didn't make it to the original version. Honestly speaking, i do think
that Metal Gear Solid has a lot of potential, to be exact, the
concepts are really cool! Who would ever think of an auto-lock on
stinger missiles, a sniper, and even contacting your superior through
a codec. I mean, if there is a Metal Gear Solid 2, perhaps in PS2 or
Dreamcast, while retaining and expanding upon the original concept,
it will be awesome. I like the fast-pace action in MGS, but i find
it hard to keep me satisfied as i find myself, asking for more. I have
completed the story mode four times for the original version. So far,
i do enjoy the VR Training missions in Integral. There are always a
lot of in-depth strategies, and i am always willing to play the same
stage over and over again to perfect my skills and get the best
ranking. However, i was quite disappointed with the first two discs
as the story remained the same, but think of it, the original MGS
took around two years to finish. Okay, enough of talking and let's
get back to the real thing.

Finally. after many weeks of playing, i beat Extreme with a Big Boss
ranking. Why? Because i wanted to play the Ninja mode. I have
completed the training to 100.0% and got to see the Metal Gear
Solid Rex picture. I have also gotten Mei Ling and Naomi and i
can confirm that you need to beat extreme mode to get Mei Ling.
[Man, the models are cool! And, i really mean it!]

A good news to tell you all guys! I just got back my copy of
Metal Gear Solid Integral from my cousin just recently. Finally,
i can play the game now. [Huh, any response...?]

After many busy days of typing, this faq has contained the complete
VR Training guide, from sneaking, weapon, advanced to special mode.

    Future Update
    =============
A sad news to tell every Metal Gear Solid fan who has read this faq.
I will no longer update this faq anymore. Avoid sending any more
information, tips, hints to me. The reason is if you do this, this
will only tempt me to update this faq. I have covered everything
that you need to know about Metal Gear Solid Integral in this faq.
For walkthrough on the main game, please refer to other faqs found
in gamefaqs as I don't intend to write one. And, one more thing,
since I will no longer update this faq, some of the questions found
in the frequently-asked-questions may be outdated and may be no
longer relevant. But, I am going to leave it intact as it is. Lastly,
enjoy your copy of Metal Gear Solid on the PlayStation while waiting
patiently for the next awesome Metal Gear Solid 2 to arrive on the
    PlayStation 2. So, goodbye everyone!!!

Before you continued, please read this message.

I got a shock when i was checking my mails, with a mail, saying
that i took certain information from http://superfami.com/ without
asking the webmaster, Chris Barker's permission. I, honestly didn't
take anything from the site. All the Ninja, photography, background
about NG Selection etc were all taken from <bernard78_98@yahoo.com>,
BOng's faq and if you notice his faq, i have already given credits
to those who have contributed the information to his faq, which i
    have taken it.

Later, i found out that the Ninja secrets etc, were being first
published in http://superfami.com/ and then in www.MetalGear.Net.
Is this a concidence or what?

Nevertheless, Chris Barker was really kind and understanding and
from here, i will express my sincere apology to Chris Barker,
    the webmaster of MetalGear.net.

I'll glad that all the misunderstandings have been clarifed and
i have already given proper credits to Chris Barker, which can be
    found in the credit section.

    I)Story Mode:Disc 1 and Disc 2
    =======================================================================
So,what's the difference between Integral and the original version?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
I.I)Disc 1 and Disc 2: Similarity and Difference
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
1)The story has not changed a bit at all.

2)However, there are five choices of difficulty levels: Very easy,
Easy, Normal, Hard, Extreme. Like the first original version, you
can only play extreme mode when you have completed the story mode
at least one. Very easy mode are for beginners, who are new to
Metal Gear Solid. Instead of being unarmed, Solid Snake will start
with an exclusive weapon, MP 5 SD, with infinite 999 ammo, plus
rapid shooting possible with the Square button. Both Hard and
      extreme mode doesn't have radar.

3)When you have completed the story mode at least once, you will be
allowed to play the first person view mode in the special option.

4)Like the original version, you will get roll A for Meryl and roll
B for Otacon, depending on what storyline you choose.

5)Once you have gotten the special items, camera, a new section in
the extra option called Photography, in the 3rd disc, which is the
VR training mode opens up, where you can take photos of Naomi and
Mei Ling, depending on your rankings.

6)Once the story mode is completed, you will be able to play a game
in the PocketStation. Unfortuately, i don't have a PDA.

7)Metal Gear Solid Integral is more like an international version,
supporting both English and Japanese text. by default, the language
is set to Japanese in the option mode. The voice-overs are still in
English, so there won't be any problem for anyone who has purchased
the import. However, the explanation for the weapons, items, and
the instructions for the VR training mode are still in Japanese.
But that shouldn't be of any problem to those who has played Metal
Gear Solid before. To add on, the options in the briefing mode are
in japanese and cannot be changed. However, when you watch the
videos, you can change the text to English. The voice-overs are
still in japanese. The mission log, previous operations and Metal
Gear Solid Snake in the special mode are in Japanese, and cannot be
      changed.

8)Note that if you have taken any photos, the album mode will not be
found in special mode in the story mode discs, instead , it will be
found in the VR Training, 3rd disc in the extra mode, together with
      movie and photography.

Finally, i have gotten the Otacon and Meryls' endings. I have also
gotten the Big Boss ranking by completing extreme mode. I have also
    unlocked Mei Ling as well!!!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    I.II:Pros and Cons
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
1)Unfortuately, datas from the original Metal Gear Solid, regardless
it is Japanese or US version, cannot be used for Integral, meaning
you have to complete the game two more times to get special items
      like Camera, Stealth, and Bandanna.

2)Having a first person view mode gives a more 3-D feeling, however,
it does have its disadvantage. To switch to the first person view
mode, tap the Triangle button two times, and another two times if
you want to return back to normal mode.

-It's strange. Because for the first time you complete the game, and
let's say you get stealth and camera, you are now able to select
the first person view mode, however, the stealth and the camera you
have collected will be gone, meaning you will have to start all over
      again.

-First person view mode gives a more 3-D feeling of the environment,
however, it is more advisable to view the normal mode, as you can
see more things, as the camera is placed overhead.

3)Is the graphics enhanced? Well, I don't really see any noticeable
      differences.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    I.III:Secret
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a list of secrets that can only be found in Metal Gear Solid
Integral. I will not write in any secrets that can be found in the
original version, only the new ones, just to save time.

    Alternate Outfit:
    -----------------
If you complete the game two times with both endings revealed and have
stealth and Bandana as your special item, both Solid Snake and Cyborg
Ninja will have their alternate outfits, tuxedo and Crimson red and
blue cyborg suit. So, what's the difference between the original
version and the integral version? The difference is, beside Solid
Snake, and Cyborg Ninja, Meryl will now have a new outfit, which is
    like Snake's sneaking suit.

    First-Person View Mode:
    -----------------------
The first-person view mode will be available in the special option
once you have completed the game once, except on difficulty, Very
Easy. This mode will be quite similar to any Doom or Quake style
games. To switch between first person view mode and normal mode,
tap triangle twice rapidly. Note that rank doesn't affect anything.

    MP 5 SD
    -------
This weapon works like famas, and is only available for very easy
mode. Very Easy level is meant for beginners, and if you think you
are good enough, try other harder difficulties. To add on, this new
MP 5 SD weapon allows rapid shooting like famas, and unlimited ammos,
    999.

    New Codec Frequency
    -------------------
Ever wonder what the last row and last columm for? Try calling
frequency 140.07 to talk to the staff. Unfortuately, the
conversations are in Japanese, so i don't know what they are talking
about. There is no English voice-overs available.

Credit:<Unidentified> for the new staff codec frequency.
=>Sorry, i have lost your e-mail long ago.

    =======================================================================
    II)Disc 3:
    =======================================================================
Will the 300 advanced VR Training keep fans of the genre satisfy?
    What do you guys think?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    II.I:VR Training Mode
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
The original VR Training contains Practise, Gun Shooting, Time attack
and survival modes. The VR Training Mode for MGS Integral can be
divided into four modes: Sneaking Mode, Weapon Mode, Advanced Mode,
and Special Mode Not all modes are available at first. You can only
begin with sneaking mode and weapon mode initially. For every stage
you complete, your training percentage will increase as shown
on the top-right hand corner of the screen, and more modes and stages
will eventually open up as the figures keep on increasing.

Tips:The introduction of the VR Training Discs shows you some of the
very cool demo scenes that you will eventually encounter
later on, so I guess you can roughly estimate what you can
expect in the VR Training. Also, if you leave your controller
untouched for some time, you will be able to view some demos.

    =======================================================================

    Sneaking Mode
    -------------
This mode is similar to the VR Training in the original version. It
contains 15 VR Training stages, 10 are taken from the original version
and 5 new ones. The new stages are 7, 9, 11, 13, 14. It can be divided
into No Weapon and Socom, followed by Practise or Time Attack mode.
    Below shows a flow chart.

                             Sneaking Mode
                    ____________|____________
                   | |
                No weapon Socom
             ______|______ _______|_______
            | | | |
       1.Practise 2.Time Attack 3.Practise 4.Time Attack

1.Unarmed, you must not be spotted by any guards.
2.Similar to the 1, you are now racing against time.
3.You need to kill all the guards, yet without being spotted.
4.Similar to 3, you are now racing against time.

    Total no of Stages: 15 x 4= 60

    Total percentages : 20%

    =======================================================================

    Weapon Mode
    -----------
The weapon mode trains you to master all the different weapons.
Basically, you can select all the weapons, except Stun, Chaff Grenade.
Each weapon has ten stages, five for practise mode, and another five
for Time attack mode. Your targets are mostly the blue or red UFOs.
The red UFOs are more dangerous as they are very explosive if you
come too close to them. Below shows a flow chart.

                             Weapon Mode
                   ______________|______________
                  | | |
               Practise | Time attack
                               Socom
                                C4
                               Famas
                              Grenade
                              Claymore
                               Nikita
                               PSG1
                              Stinger

    Total no of Stages: 8 x 5 x 2= 80

    Total percentages : 26.6%

    =======================================================================

    Advanced Mode
    -------------
Advanced mode is more of a higher training level than the weapon mode.
Similar to the weapon mode, each weapon will have ten stages, five for
practise, and another five for Time attack mode. But a few differences
separate it. Firstly, you won't be dealing with anymore red or blue
UFOs, instead your enemies will be a real Genome soldier. Secondly,
unlike the sneaking mode, you will not fail the mission, if you get
spotted. However, if you are playing the Time attack mode, bonus
points of max 3 secs will be given for not being spotted, as well as
    the number of remaining ammos.

    Total no of Stages: 8 x 5 x 2= 80

    Total percentages : 26.7%

    =======================================================================

    Special Mode
    ------------
Special modes are probably the most coolest of all. Sneaking, weapon,
and advanced modes are just your basic training. The special modes
are then the real challengers and can be divided into 8 sections.
Below shows the flow chart of what the special mode comprises of.

                                Special Mode

    VS VS
    TARGET ENEMY

    =======================================================================

    1 min Battle
    ------------
This is very easy. You get to use all of your weapons listed in the
weapon and advanced mode, as well as using bare-hand. Yeah, Fist is
also a weapon. All you need is to kill as many as possible within 1
minute. In the VS target mode, you will face the UFOs, and they will
not attack you. In the VS enemy mode, you will face Genome Soldiers
and they will attack you if you get spotted by them. If you fail to
meet the min targets within the time limit, you will fail the mission.

    Total no of Stages: 9 x 2= 18

    Total percentages : 6.0%

    =======================================================================

    VS 12 Battle
    ------------
This is another coolest section. There are a total of 8 stages here.
You are given some weapons with limited ammos. The type of weapons,
and the number of ammos you get differ from stage to stage, but as
you proceed on to a higher stage, it gets harder, as less ammos are
given. You have to kill 12 guards within 5 minutes, and each time,
only 4 guards are in. You won't fail the mission if you get spotted.
My advice is try not to get spotted as it waste a lot of time, and
choose your weapons wisely, and don't waste any unneccessary ammos.
Checkpoint only appears when all 12 guards are dead. You can also
use the choking technique to strangle the guard.

    Total no of Stages: 8

    Total percentages : 2.7%

    =======================================================================

    Mystery
    -------
This is another yet coolest section where you need to rack your brain
and find out who is the murderer. There are a total of 10 stages. At
each stage, you will see a dead Genome soldier lying on the ground.
Most of the stages, you will see three genome soldiers standing there.
There are some variations in certain stages. They will not attack you,
so do not worry. And, one of these three guards are the murderer.
Clues like objects are often provided in each stages, which will trace
you to the murderer. Once you determine the murderer, drag them along
to the check point. If this is not the murderer, you will fail the
mission. If he is, you will proceed on to the next stage. and, if you
kill one of the soldiers by accident, you will automatically fail the
mission. My hint to you is to view in first person view mode.

    Total no of Stages: 10

    Total percentages : 3.3%

    =======================================================================

    Puzzle
    ------
There are a total of 10 stages, and as the name suggests, you will
have to rack your brain and think of a good strategy to help you
    solve the puzzles. Good luck!

    Total no of Stages: 10

    Total percentages : 3.3%

    =======================================================================

    Variety
    -------
As the name suggests, it is more or less a mixture of what you have
    learnt all this while.

    Total no of Stages: 13

    Total percentages : 4.4%

    =======================================================================

    VR Mission
    ----------
VR Mission is more of a survival mode, but is more challenging than
the survival mode in the original version. The areas are all brand-
new. There are 10 levels in this mode and you need to complete these
10 levels within 15 minutes. Quite hard in certain areas. You will
begin without arms but there are weapons and ammos scattered through-
out each levels. It's up to you whether you want to collect them or
not. If you get spotted, they will chase after you, but you will not
fail your mission. My advice is try to get those useful weapons like
PSG1. The best strategy is to run and avoid the guards at all cost.
Remember, your life and ammos that are left will be carried over to
    the next stage.

    Total no of Stages: 10

    Total percentages : 3.3%

    =======================================================================

    Ninja
    -----
Well, time to change the male lead. In this mode, you are able to play
as Gray Fox/Deepthroat or Ninja. Unfortuately, there are only three
levels. Sorry, i don't know much about the Ninja mode yet as i am
still not able to select it at this moment.

    Total no of Stages: 3

    Total percentages : 1.0%

    =======================================================================

    NG Selection
    ------------
Well, time to change your enemy. The enemy here have very distinct
appearances or to say weird will be more correct. More like an alien
to me. Also, these guards have amazing eye sight, and hearing ability.
It's best not to go near them. Also, these section involves racing
against time. There are a total of 8 stages in this mode.

    Total no of Stages: 8

    Total percentages : 2.7%

Okay, this is just a calulation.

    Weapon Mode:80

    Total Percent:100.0%

Okay, from calculation, it is exactly 300 stages, but don't forget the
practise mode and the time attack mode are more or less about the same,
except that you must be more faster in the time attack mode.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    II.III:Replay Theater
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Replay theater is yet another feature to capture Solid Snake's glory.
To me, i think it is pretty useless. Most of the stages, will prompt
you to save replay once you complete that particular stage, normally
in the time attack mode, that is available, and not practise mode. If
you think, you have done fantastically well for that stage, why not
consider saving the replay. Once you save it, choose replay theater
to load the save replay. Easy to understand, right?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    II.IV:Extra Mode
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
This mode can be divided into two sections: Movie and Photographing.
The movie mode contains three videos that are exclusively to the
integral version. The first video, shown in Tokyo Game Show'98(TGS
Roll A) will be available initially. It is more of a mix of selected
FMVs. The voice-overs are in Japanese, instead of English. The second
video (TGS Roll B) is another demo shown in Tokyo Game Show'98,
together with the first video, showing some breathtaking screenshots.
The third video is shown in E3 in '97/6. Both the second and the third
video are not available initially. For photographing, you will be able
to take photos of Mei Ling or Naomi. I have gotten both Octacon and
Meryl's endings, and got the Big Boss ranking by beating extreme
mode. The better your ranking is, you can go nearer to the models,
meaning either Mei Ling or Naomi. If you want to exit the photography
mode, simply take the exit in the south.

    Movie
    --------------
TGS ROLL A - Available Initially.
    (March '98)

TGS ROLL B - Complete training mode with 46.6% and above.
    (March '98)

E3 - Complete training mode with 79.3% and above.
    (June '97)

           for unlocking these two movies.

    Photography
    --------------
Once you have completed the game, and have gotten special item, camera,
go to extra mode in the VR Training discs, and you will be able to
select Photography mode, which will allows you to take photos of Naomi
or Mei Ling. The higher your ranking is, you will have more time and
can come more closer to take the photos.

Rumour has speculated that you need to:

-Beat the story mode with difficulty easy, normal, and hard, except
Very Easy and Extreme to get Naomi Hunter.

-Beat the story mode with extreme to get Mei Ling.

Note:I got Mei Ling by beating extreme mode, Naomi by beating normal
         mode.

Kelvin says that you need to complete the game to get Mei Ling.

    By Michael Jackson <resident_weevil@hotmail.com>
    ------------------
He suggests that if you complete the game and save Meryl, you will
get Naomi, and if Meryl dies, which means having Otacon, you will
get Mei Lin. He has not proven this, but he has saved Meryl and
got Mei ling on the photography mode.

    By Gouki/Rolento <rolento@geocities.com>
    ----------------
He suggests that you don't get Mei Ling by having Otacon, as he
have already saved both Meryl and Otacon, plus Snake wearing his
Tuxedo suit, Ninja wearing his new cyborg suit and Meryl wearing
her sneaking mode, he still gets Naomi. He also suggests that if
you watch the introduction VR Training, you should see the word,
Big Boss next to her. And, Big Boss's ranking can only be obtained
in the extreme mode. Does that mean you will have to beat Extreme
(Or perhaps hard), without radar to get Mei Ling? He has also
confirmed that your ranking determines how long or how close you
can get to Mei ling/Naomi Hunter.

    By Steevens Alconcel <alconcelt001@hawaii.rr.com
    --------------------
He suggests that to get Naomi, you have to get a Hound rating in
Easy mode, Doberman in Normal mode, and Fox in Hard mode. He has
gotten all these ratings and still get Naomi. To get Mei Ling,
he suggests that you need to get a Big Boss rating in Extreme
mode. Does that mean that the only way to get Mei Ling is to beat
    Extreme mode. Quite possible.

    Metal Gear Rex
    --------------
Once you have completed all the VR Training, having 100%, you will
be shown a picture of Metal Gear Rex, with the words labelled
    "CONFIDENTIAL."

    Truth Behind NG Selection Mode
    ------------------------------
NG Selection are VR missions which did not fit into any other category,
or were for some reasons disqualified from the regular VR missions.
Famitsu PS suggests you play these "out takes" with an open mind.

           piece of information from superfami.com/www.metalgear.net.

    Ninja Mode
    --------------
There are many ways to unlock the Ninja mode. Once Ninja mode is
available, you will see Ninja unmasked at the title screen.

    PocketStation(PDA)- First Method
-Finish the game on any level, except "Very Easy".
-Download your save data to a PocketStation.
-Exchange the saved data with a total of 5 players within 7 days.
-You cannot use PS memory card manager for this method.
-Load the VR Training Disc when you have meet the requirements.

    PocketStation(PDA)- Second Method
-Finish the game on any level, except "Very Easy".
-Get the highest ranking for that difficulty.
    -Save FOXDIE to a PocketStation.
-Load the VR Training Disc when you have meet the requirements.

Story Mode Method - Third Method
-Finish the game on any level, except "Very Easy".
-Get the highest ranking for the story mode.
-Load the VR Training Disc whn you have meet the requirments.
=>To get the best ranking, you need to achieve these requirments.
1)Complete the game in less than 3 hours.
      2)Kill 25 enemies or lesser.
3)Use only 1 ration or none.
      4)No continues
5)Spotted by enemies 4 times or lesser.
6)Save game 79 times or lesser.

=>Here are the names of the highest ranking for each difficulty.
      1)EASY - HOUND
      2)NORMAL - DOBERMAN
      3)HARD - FOX
      4)EXTREME - BIG BOSS

    GameShark Method - Fourth Method
-The most easiest way to make Ninja mode playable using a gameshark.
But, my advice is use gameshark only to the very last resort. Here
     are the codes:
     1)D00C209A-1040
     2)800C209A-1000
     3)300E10ED-00FF

-If you use the above gameshark codes, you will get Ninja mode
playable, and still can increase your percentages, but you will
not see Ninja unmasking in the title screen.

Variety and NG Selection may be inaccurate. I have long
forgetten the range, so i give a bigger range estimation.
Anyone who can come up with the exact percentages are feel free
to contribute. Credits will be given too.

    III)My Current Status:
    =======================================================================
    Here's my VR Training result:
    1)100.0% of training completed.
2)Sneaking, Weapon, Advanced, and Special mode fully completed.
3)All of the options in the special mode are now available, including
      the Ninja mode.
-I heard you have to get the best ranking to get ninja mode, or have
PocketStation or use a gameshark. Unfortuatly, i don't have a PDA or
      a gameshark.
-I have completed all the special modes, 1 min battle , VS 12 Battle,
Mystery, Puzzle, Variety, VR mission and NG Selection, except Ninja
mode, as i still can't play the mode yet.
-Then, i tried to beat Extreme mode and finally got a Big Boss
ranking. It was a hard work. Why? To play Ninja mode, of course!
4)All three videos in the extra mode are unlocked.
TGS Roll B: After completing 46.6% of the training.
E3 : After completing 79.3% of the training.
    5)Photography mode is available now.
-I am able to take photos of Naomi after defeating normal mode.
-I am able to take photos of Mei Ling after defeating extreme
      mode.
6)First person view mode is available in the story mode after
completing normal mode for the first time.
7)I have gotten both Otacon and Meryl's endings.

    V)Weapon
    =======================================================================
In this section, i will briefly describe the advancement of each
weapon. For how to use them efficiently, please refer to the
Tactical Strategy section. Okay, let's begin.

    Weapon :MP 5 ZD
Condition:Only for Very Easy difficulty level
Specs :Honestly speaking, i don't know much about MP 5 ZD. However,
it works similarly to the Famas weapon, except that now you
have 999 infinite ammos. For more info, please refer to
              Famas weapon.

    Weapon :Socom
Specs :known as Special Operations Command Pistol, it is a .45
caliber pistol with plenty of stopping power. It include
special feature like a laser-aiming module (LAM) and a
buffer system for reducing the impact of recoil forces.

    Weapon :C4
Specs :This volatile, plastic explosive has a texture, similar to
clay, enabling you to shape it easily. It is 1.4 times the
destructive power of normal dynamite. Highly stable, it will
not explode without a detonating device, even if it is shot,
burned or beaten. The wireless detonator is equipped with a
scrambler so that any radio sources will not interfer it.

    Weapon :Famas
Specs :It is a bullpup style assault rifle. It is durable, easy to

    VIII)Tactical Strategy
    =======================================================================
Okay, this section covers all the advance moves and strategies that
Snake have. It is divided into three sections:Basic, weapon and
additional. Note that it has nothing to do with the VR training, but
it can be quite useful as certain strategies mention here can be
applied to the VR Training as well as the story mode.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    VIII.I:Basic
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    1)Throw
Run up to the enemy, while unarmed with any weapon. Hold down the pad
in a direction and press the weapon button, Square.

    2)Action
While unarmed, tap action button rapidly(circle) to perfom two punch,
    followed by a kick.

    3)Choking
Run up to the enemy, release your d-pad and press the weapon button,
Square. Note if you did not release the d-pad, Snake will perfom a
throw instead. Do not let go of weapon button(Square) as this will let
the enemy go. Hold it instead.
    -While choking,
1)Press weapon button(Square) repeatedly to snap the enemy neck. This
      will kill the enemy.
2)While choking the guard, press the d-pad to drag him around. If the
guard tries to struggle, simply release the square button for a
second and then hold it again. You must be fast. If he struggles
and you do not do it, he will break himself free.
=>While you are dragging him, if you get spotted by enemies, you can
use him as a shield to dodge the bullets.

Hint:Try to choke your enemy from the back. If you start from the
side, there's a higher chance that you will get spotted.

    4)Leaning against wall
Simply hold the D-pad towards the wall. This switchs to wall view,
allowing the camera to let you see things behind.
    =>While leaning
1)Press D-pad to move diagonally up and down the wall.

of you knocking on the wall.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    VIII.II:Weapon
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Socom
    ------------
Control :Hold weapon button(Square) to use Laser-aiming module to aim.
Press weapon button(Square) again to shoot.
Tactic#1:While equip Socom, try equip with a Socom suppressor to allow
             rapid firing possible.

Control :Press weapon button(Square) to aim.
             Press weapon button to shoot.
Hold Triangle to view in the first-person mode.
Move the D-pad to control the missile, both in normal and
             first person view mode.

of square. Make use of this to locate your enemy.
Tactic#1:Though you can control the direction of the missile, you
cannot control the altitude of the missile. The altitude
depends on your position of how high you fire. To change the
altitude of the missile, you have to control the missile up
or down a incline. The VR training will provide a brief idea
             of how it works.
Tactic#2:Try not to move the missile too much and this will cause the
missile to accelerate. This will cover as much distance as
possible without using too many fuel. Of course, make sure
that the missile does not accelerate so fast that it hits the
             wall.
Tactic#3:What happens if the fuel has not run out, and your Nikita
missile is in mid-air, (assuming not touching any wall) and
you want it to explode now? Simply unequip your Nikita by
pressing R1. This will cause the Nikita missile to explode
             immediately.

    Stinger
    ------------
Control :Once target is locked-on, press weapon button(Square) to
             shoot.
Tactic#1:You don't actually need to aim at the target directly. For
example, your main target is behind a wall and if you fire
straight at it, you are bound to hit the wall. Simply, lock-on
the target first. You should see red sensors. Quickly, move
the shoot target while target is still lock-on. Then, press
weapon button(Square) to shoot. You should see that the
missile travels in a curve manner. Get what i mean?

    PSG1

control the detonation range of the claymore.
Press weapon button(Square) to plant it.
Info :Use mine detector or thermal goggle to detect claymores.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    VIII.III:Additional
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, here is a list of some strategies that might help you, whether
it is in VR Training Disc or the story mode.

    Surveillance Camera
    -------------------
One of the interesting aspect of Metal gear Solid is not just hiding
from enemies, but also avoid being spotted by a camera. These cameras
are being positioned on the walls. There are three types.

Info: -1)These cameras are stationary, and will not rotate its angle.
-2)These cameras will rotate 180 degress back and forth.
-3)These cameras will shoot at you if they spot you. This
             alerts other nearby guards.

Tactic#1:Use stun grenade to jam up the camera.
Tactic#2:If you are directly below a surveillance camera, you will
             never get spotted.
Tactic#3:Hide inside a cardboard, and do not MOVE!! Press triangle
button to have a first person view mode. The slightest move-
ment you make will still let you get spotted, even if you
hide in a cardboard. Wait for the camera to turn, then run
             away.
Tactic#4:Put a C4 on the wall and blow it out.
Tactic#5:Lock on to the camera, and use stinger missiles to blow it
             out.

Note:Tactic 4 and 5 are the only ways that i know can destroy a
surveillance camera. However, it is not neccessary to destroy
         these cameras.

    Searchlight
    ------------------
Most(If not, all) searchlight will move around. If you happened to step
into the zone, you will be spotted immediately, alerting your enemies.

    Mine (Claymore)
    ------------------
When entering a mine area, you can use:

1)Mine Detector :You can locate the location of the buried claymores,
as well as seeing the detonation area.
2)Thermal Goggle:The location of a claymore appears as as a bright red
                     silhouettes spot on the ground.
Tactic#1:Crawl over a claymore to retrieve it. It won't explode if you
             are crawling.
Tactic#2:Try luring a group of enemies to a location of a buried
             claymore.

    Snow Area
    ------------------
Walking in a snow area leaves footprints temporarily, but will
disappear after sometime. The guard will investigate the source of
the footprints by following it. You can use footprints to lure a guard.
Tactic#1:Try to make your footprints look "natural".

    Infra-red rays
    ------------------
You may entering an area full of infra-red rays. If you happen to touch
these infra-red rays, the alarm will ring, alerting nearby guards. And,
what's makes it cool is that these infra-red rays cannot be seen with
    a naked eye. Cool, right?
Tactic#1:Smoke a cigarette. The smoke will make the rays visible. View
in first person view mode to see the red colour rays.
Note :If you smoke a cigarette, it will slowly drain your life.
    Tactic#2:Wear a thermal goggle. <Recommended>
    =>Try crawling over.

    Stealth Enemies?
    ------------------
To see Stealth enemies, equip with Thermal Goggles. This includes
    enemies like Psycho Mantis etc.

    "Noisy" Floor
    ------------------
Walk on these white-coloured polished floor, it causes a lot of noise,
alerting your enemies nearby. Try not to walk too fast on such ground.
Walking along a pool of waters, also causes a lot of noises.

    Pit-hole
    ------------------
Some floors, if you stepped on it, will reveal a hole at the bottom.
Should you accidentally fall inside, you will be dead immediately. In
the VR training, these floors are "Bluely-surfaces." Move away quickly
once you stepped onto these surfaces.
Tactic#1:Walking on these surfaces causes a lot of noise. Try using
these techniques to lure a guard.

    "Blocking" Wall
    ------------------
Found in VR Training mode, usually in tougher training mode, these blue
coloured-painted walls often obstruct your mission, often by blocking
your way to the checkpoint. Hitting and punching the walls do not help
as these walls are very hard. The only way is to use your weapon to
destroy it. Basically, all the weapons used in the VR Training disc
    works.

    Easy Teleportation
    ------------------
These cheats work only in the story mode. Military trucks are found in
three locations: Heliport, Nuke Building and Snowfield. Get into one
of these trucks at any locations, and then hide inside one of the
cardboard. Don't move and a guard will come and drive you to the
desired destination as labelled in the cardboard.

How to make wolves fond of you?
    -------------------------------
Unfortuately, there are no wolves in the VR training. Wolves are Meryl
and Sniper Wolfs' friends, but not yours. If you get spotted by wolves,
they will attack you, usually those that are of larger size. Not to let
wolves attack you, and be your friend:
Tactic#1:Equip Scarf that Otacon gave you. The scarf belongs to sniper
             wolf.
Tactic#2:While inside the cave, perform the action button(circle) to
slap Meryl. Quickly, before the wolves attack you, hide in
one of the cardboard. Meryl will then ask the wolves to pee
onto the cardboard. Now, whenever you see a wolf, equip the
cardboard, and the wolf will not attack you.

    IX)VR Training Guide
    =======================================================================
These sections will cover the strategies that is needed to help you
master the VR Training. As of like what other faq writers have done,
i will not reveal too much hint, but provide those that are really of
importance to you. Also, before proceed on reading, i suggest you read
the tactical strategy section. For more info, please read the VR
Training Disc in section II as i will not be repeating the whole thing
over and over again. I won't be going very in-depth into the sneaking,
weapon and advanced mode, since i think it is not that difficult,
perhaps for a few. Instead, i will list down the number of ammos,
enemies/targets, time limit etc and only give some hints for certain
levels where i feel there is a need to.

    Credit:Both <bernard78_98@yahoo.com> and ShinJN <shinjn@yahoo.com
have written a guide of the VR Training in their faq. You may
like to refer to their faqs for more information.

Credit:Some of the strategies listed here may be very common to what
have been found in their faqs. It's not COPYING, but it's the
only strategy that you can use for that particular stage.
Many thanks to them for they have help me a lot.

    IX.I:UFO Target & Enemy
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the VR Training, facing a bunch of baddies is inevitable. I will
list down a brief description below.

    UFO Target
    ----------
Blue - They come in various shapes and break easily into pieces.

Red - Unlike the blue ones, these targets when shot, will explode.
Any nearby targets, or even you, will also be hurt, and may
create an explosion chain [Quite similar to C4]. Like the blue
ones, they come in various shapes.

Green - Similar to the blue ones, they can only be found in 1 min
battle- VS Target for the No weapon section.

UFO - What is this? I won't reveal anything. It is found only in
Variety Level 11 in the Special Mode only. When you play
it, you will know. You can see it in the introduction video,
just in case you wonder what it is.

    Enemy
    ----------
Genome Soldier- These are the stimulated Genome Soldiers in the VR
training. They wore white uniforms and found in the
                     Arctic-cold regions like in Alaska.

Alien Soldier- Can't think of a good name to describe. Neverthe-
less, these soldiers are found in the NG Selection
Mode only. They have amazing good eye sight and
hearing ability that are far better than a normal
                     person. Virtual Reality? Huh?

Stealth Soldier- Only found in the level 06 of Variety Mode in
                     Special mode.

Gigantic Genome- What is this again? I won't reveal anything. It is
found in the Variety Level 12 and 13 in the special
mode only. By the way, where's Meryl?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    IX.II:Sneaking Mode
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
I won't be going into detailed for thise mode, since it is not that
difficult and after all, 10 of the stages, are not new at all. To make
the checkpoint appear in Socom mode, you need to kill all the guards.
And, should you get spotted, you would fail the mission right away.
Stages that are not found in the original version are marked with
    a symbol <New>.

Note:If you need help on the sneaking mode, please refer to
Rudy Hendrawan<goblic@hotmail.com>'s Metal Gear Solid Faq,
for the 10 levels of sneaking mode that can be found in the
original version, except for the 5 new additions.

    IX.III:Weapon Mode
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Before continuing, i will go straight into the Time Attack mode, just
to save time. The practice mode is about the same as the time attack
mode as the number of targets are the same, except that there is no
time limit and the initial ammos are different. For example, for all
Socom practice, you will begin with 100 Socom ammo, and 50 C4 for all
    C4 practice.

    Socom
    --------
    Practice      = 100 Socom Ammos

    Level 01

    Level 02
    - Time = 25 Secs
    - Bullet = 30 Socom Ammos
    - Target = 6 Blue Boxes

    Info:Checkpoint is in the north.

    Info:Checkpoint is the centre.

Note:These blue targets are cunnning in the way that they can
disappear. But you can see shadows on the ground. However, you
can't hit them when that's happen.

    C4

mode searching high and low for the guards. Use your scope,
which is faster. Once you have locate a guard, quickly get into
         position.

Info:Checkpoint is on the right side.

    Stage Layout:
    -Tunnel

Hint:This stage is quite tricky. There are some soldiers hiding
behind and there are glass windows that you need to destroy,
but not all. Don't destroy unneccessary glass window as it is
a waste of bullets. Enemies do react to sound, get it?

    Info:Checkpoint is near the tunnel.

    Stinger

    1 Min Battle
    =============
In this mode, i have also listed down the minimum targets/enemies
you need to get within 1 min.

    VS Target
    ---------
    _______________________________________________________________________
              |
No Weapon |-This is easy. Just use punch. Use action button
              | consecutively, instead of tapping rapidly. This saves
              | time.
Credit: |-This is taken from ShinJN<shinjn@yahoo.com>'s faq.
    Time: |-10 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Socom |-It takes three to four shots to destroy a target. Figure
              | a pattern out when the targets will pop out. Use run and
              | shoot technique.
    Time: |-15 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
C4 |-What i have done was i put as many C4 as possible near
              | the wall in the centre. You should be able to put up to
              | a maximum of 16 C4 on the ground. Then, i simply went
              | to find a place where i can take cover and where i can
              | see the C4. This ensures that you will not get hurt
              | when you detonate the C4. The best position is to
              | go stay directly at the south where you still can see
              | the C4. Once a clusters of red UFOs approaches the C4,
              | detonate it one at a time, but not together.
    Time |-25 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Famas |-Similar to the Socom level.
    Time: |-30 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Grenade |-Time yourself and throw the grenade. The best way is to
              | make sure that the grenade explodes when the targets
              | gathered closely at the centre. For this, you will
              | have to figure out a pattern yourself. Simply throw
              | the grenade into the centre, and i hope this helps you.
    Time: |-65 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Claymore |-What i have done was stay in the centre. Look for a
              | pattern and then plant a claymore on the ground. Target
              | an area where a group of targets are approaching.
    Time: |-20 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Nikita |-You are in the centre. You will notice that the targets
              | will pop in and out of the holes. There is a moving target,
              | circling the centre target. Try to aim at the centre.
              | This will destroy four to six targets.
    Time |-35 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
PSG1 |-There are six stairs and there are three Diazepam on
              | three of these six stairs. The left most diazepam has
              | a quantity of one, the middle has two, and the right
              | has three. Go up a stair, take the diazepam, then get
              | ready to shoot. You should see that the targets pop in
              | and out, but this shouldn't be quite hard. Just aim
              | and shoot like normal.
    Time: |-10 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Stinger |-Aim for a group of red UFOs targets. This shouldn't be
              | hard for you.
    Time: |-20 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________

    VS Enemy
    ---------
    _______________________________________________________________________
              |
No Weapon |-Use throw or punch-kick combo to throw the guards into
              | the ledge. Try not to get spotted and attack from behind.
    Time: |-4 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Socom |-It doesn't matter if you get spotted. This will alert
              | enemies and then kill them as they approach you rather
              | than having to hide. But be careful, you have limited
              | life also.
    Time: |-15 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
C4 |-Plant the first 3 C4 between the two guards, from bottom
              | all the way to the top. And, then plant as many C4 in
              | the bottom. Note that after some the guard on the bottom
              | right will be petrolling around, so you got to be fast.
              | Detonate the first 3 C4. This will then alert nearby
              | guards. Then, blow the C4 you have planted in the bottom
              | as a group of soldiers approaches there.
    Time: |-10 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Famas |-This is much easier than the Socom level. Stay in the
              | middle first and rapid firing at any of the guards
              | coming towards you. If you are running low on life,
              | go and take cover in one of the areas located in the
              | north, south, west, east and fire at whoever is
              | approaching you.
    Time: |-20 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Grenade |-Alert the guards and run up the stairs while keep on
              | dropping the grenade. As the enemy chases behind you,
              | the grenade will explode by the time they reaches the
              | area where you have dropped the grenade.
    Time: |-3 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Claymore |-Alert the guard, and as they chases behind you in a
              | straight row, plant claymore, facing them and it will
              | explode when the guards is within the detonation area
              | of a claymore. And, don't waste your time, planting
              | a claymore, knock on the wall and lure your enemies.
    Time: |-5 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Nikita |-Just keep on launching the missiles. If you stay in the
              | middle, beware that the enemies will go to your back,
              | and shoot at you. When this happens, quickly turn back
              | and shoot at them. Another way is to hide in any four
              | corners and then fire your Nikita from there. At that
              | position, the enemies will not be able to shoot you.
    Time: |-10 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
PSG1 |-Get Diazepam first. There will be 5 guards let out on
              | the battlefield each time. And, considering that you
              | have 300 PSG1 ammos, you can do some rapid firing. Did
              | anyone notice a cross? This shouldn't be a very hard.
    Time: |-5 Min
    __________|____________________________________________________________
              |
Stinger |-Launch one missile and shoot the guard at the highest
              | platform. This will alert the enemies. Try not to shoot
              | at moving enemies as there is a higher chance of missing.
              | Shoot at a group. Also, do not let the guards come too
              | near to you, as they will fire their guns at you.

    __________________________|____________________________________________
                              |
    Level 08 - 1/ 1 C4 |Notes & Hints:
                2/ 2 PSG1 |-Checkpoint is near where you started
               12/12 Socom | initially.
2/ 2 Grenade |-Use PSG1 to get rid of two guards, then
2/ 2 Claymore | Socom, followed by the remaining weapons.
    __________________________|____________________________________________

    Strategy
    --------
    - Always use PSG1 first if you have.
=>Can get rid of guards without being spotted, or harmed.
    - After using PSG1, consider using Socom if you have.
=>Take about three shots per guard.
    - If you are left with C4 or Claymores only, consider:
    =>Get yourself spotted.
=>Lure all the guards in a row. They will chase behind you.
=>Set C4 along the way or set claymore facing the direction of the
      enemy.
=>Detonate C4 when enemies are near or as enemies are chasing you,
let them step onto a buried claymore and explode.
    - Use Nikitas to destroy a group of enemies.
    - Consider using Stinger, grenade etc the last.
=>Stinger can only kill one guard per missile. Furthermore, it alerts
      nearby guards.
=>You need to time when a grenade will explode. Furthermore, it alerts
      guard.

    Mystery
    =============
The mystery mode is by far one of the coolest addition to this VR
disc. Like other faqs writers, I will give the clue for each stage,
so as not to ruin the fun of discovery. And, hints are only given
to a few very tricky stage. So, enjoy yourself and be a great
    detective.

    Puzzle
    ============
These puzzles did live up to its expectations. Hard or easy, I can't
comment much. True enough, you will have to figure out a strategy
yourself and solve the riddle. Like what others have done, i will not
give you the direct solution, but certain hints will be given. If
you still cannot solve it after reading the frequently-asked-question
section, feel free to e-mail me at <ysf@pacific.net.sg>
    _______________________________________________________________________
             |
Level 01 |-There are 7 guards standing in a row, separating from each
             | other by a gap on a platform. You have 6 grenades, and the
             | only way is to wipe them out at one go. But how?

Hint: |-Watch the VR Training Disc Intro.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 02 |-There are 7 guards. You are at the highest platform and
             | there is a guard standing there. Each guard stands on a
             | platform, of descending rows, like a triangular shape. How
             | do you kill all the guards at one go?
    Time: |-5 Min
    Hint: |-Timing, positioning???
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 03 |-Armed with stinger, there is a Genome soldier standing at
             | the highest platform and a camera which prevents you from
             | going up the stairs. How to do?
    Time: |-25 Secs
Note: |-The mission will fail if Snake gets spotted.
Hint: |-You don't really need to destroy the camera, but if you
             | wish, it's all right. However, time is precious.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 04 |-There are 29 red UFO targets in a form of a cube or box.
             | You have only 50 stinger missiles ammo, and if you blow off
             | one red target, creating an explosion chain, there are 6
             | more cubes hiding behind the tower.
    Time: |-5 Min
Hint: |-Look in first person view mode.
             |-"What is the lock-on feature for?"
             |=>There's a hint in the Tactical Strategy section.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 05 |-Armed with 140 Famas ammo, with no suppressor, you are
             | standing on a "noisy" ground surface. And between two
             | walls, there are two guards, each standing on one side.
             | As Famas creates a lot of noises, if the guards hear any
             | gunfire, you will fail the mission immediately. And, you
             | notice that there are plenty of "blocking walls" along the
             | way that you need to destroy with the Famas.
    Time: |-5 Min
Note: |-The mission will fail if Snake gets spotted.
Hint: |-The best strategy is sometimes to run. Don't let the guard
             | catch up with you. You will know why if you do that.
             |=>There's a hint in the Tactical Strategy section.
             |-Do not waste too much unneccessary bullets, as these
             | bullets are just enough for you to destroy those walls.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |

    Strategy #1-Contributed by <bernard78_98@yahoo.com>
    ===========
Lure the guard out of his position by knocking on the wall or
whatever. Plant a C4 behind his back. When the time reaches 1 min,
the guard will start to inspect the area. As he is close to one of
the camera, detonate the C4 to destroy the camera and make your way
    to the checkpoint.

Mystery:If you use the above strategy, you will find that no matter
how fast you are, your time will always be 1 min and above
since you can only detonate the C4 after 1 min when the
guard starts to inspect the area. But if you look at the
CPU scores, the highest ranking is 45 secs...Refer to below
            for another alternative method.

Strategy #2-Contributed By Richard Hinckley <rah_3@email.com>
    ===========
The information below are contributed by Richard Hinckley and it
seems that this is the only method that you must use to obtain a
time of less than 1 min. Note that i have not EDITED any of his
strategy below yet. It's pretty long but it does make some sense.

Note:I have not tried his strategy so I cannot really confirm with
you whether it works. Try it yourself.

I know [in theory] how to get a record [under 0:45:00] time in
Puzzle Mode Mission 9! This is "in theory" because, although I
have done everything I talk about, I have not done it all together,
so I have never ACTUALLY used this method. I found that if you
drag the guard all the way to the top row of the map, and drop
him in the leftmost column [the one that's directly in front of
the top camera, but too far from it to be seen by it], then when
he gets up and tries to return to his position, the most direct
route [which is the route they always take] will be to run THROUGH
the central area instead of around it. In fact, you probably don't
have to drag him that far, and the less you drag him/the more he
runs on his own, the faster he goes.

So the solution is: When the guard looks right, run up to the
half-wall in front of him and crouch. When he looks left, run off
to his right, knock on the side wall, and hide. When he stops
looking, chase him, plant C4 on his back, and then quickly press
R1 to deactivate C4 [timing here is CRUCIAL] and press and hold
Square. Drag him around the board, to the back, releasing and
re-pressing or tap Square periodically when he starts to struggle.
[Note that if you press Square seven times, including the one
press to grab him initially, he'll pass out for a little while,
which will damage your score.] Drop him in front [but out of range]
of the camera at the top of the map, and hide as close to him as
possible, preferably using the half-wall "donut hole" at the top
of the map. When he runs through the center area, press Circle to
detonate the C4 on him, destroying the top camera, and then run
to the center of the field AS SOON AS the camera is gone.

It's worth mentioning again that the best method is the one that
involves the least dragging, since dragging is really slow, even
slower than the guard moving on his own at the "walking" pace...
So if you can knock on the wall multiple times and get him to
follow you further around the board, doing so will drop your time
even further. Unfortunately, you can't use the C4 to its full
potential, since C4 detonations tend to call guards STRAIGHT TO
THEM, which would be useful here, but that also technically counts
as being spotted, which means that you can't use that method here.
If you could, you'd just blow some C4, then hide behind the wall
at the top of the map, then plant some of it on the "alert" guard,
return to hiding, and as soon as the alarm stopped, he'd run
    through the camera area.

    Strategy #3-Contributed By Schlauchi <Schlauchi@gmx.de>
    ===========
Special thanks to Schlauchi <Schlauchi@gmx.de> for telling me the
solution to Puzzle Mode level 09. He sent me a MPlayer2 file {video/
mpeg) to me. I am not sure how he made the Mpeg file, definitely
with the help of some programs, I suppose but as soon as I got back
my copy of Metal Gear Solid Integral from my cousin, I tested out
the strategy he sent it to me. Through the video he sent me, true
enough, i was able to complete Puzzle Mode level 09 in under 1 min.
Now, enough of my craps now, and this is how or what you should do:

You have 3 C4 right? To use this strategy, you need to use up 2 of
your C4. Notice that the guard is turning in a semi-circle manner.
First of all, when he is not looking, quickly run up the ramp, and
stay near the left wall. This is what you should do now. When the
guard is facing to down, and about to turn to his left, which is
to the right side of the screen, get ready to go near him and stay
about two or three spaces away from him. Now, he will turn to his
left, which is to the right side of the screen, go below him, and
place a C4 on the floor. Do not detonate the C4 now! Now, hurry
back and take your cover because he will start to turn back again.
Now, here comes the most critical part. Either you do it correctly
or you will get spotted and fail the mission. Repeat the same
procedure as before but this time, you have to place a C4 on his
shoulder instead of placing a C4 on the floor. As soon as you
did that, run and take your cover. If you managed to survive
that through, congradulation!!! Now, detonate the two C4s! The
first C4, which you place it on the ground will explode and
send the guard flying backwards towards the camera. And, when the
guard is flying backwards towards the camera, the second C4 which
you place it on the guard's shoulder will......yes, explode and
destroy the stationary camera. Now, make your way to the checkpoint
    and that's it!

If you still have any problems after reading this solution, feel free
to e-mail me at <ysf@pacific.net.sg> and request me to send you the
Mpeg format of the solution to Puzzle Mode level 09 which is sent
to me by Schlauchi <Schlauchi@gmx.de> but make sure that you have
    enough space in your mailbox.

If you want the mpeg, please state everything clearly such as telling
me that your mailbox can hold over 1 MB and you are stuck in puzzle 09
and seriously needs the mpeg. I don't want to cause your mailbox to
overload and then later on, you blame me. Furthermore, if you did not
state these information clearly, i will just ignore the mail. Why?
More than 5 people have e-mailed me, requesting me to send it to them.
I need to zip the file again, and after sending it, delete it again.
Besides, the file takes over 1 MB and sending a huge file will take me
around ten minutes. If you have completed puzzle 09, don't bother to
e-mail me and say that you want the mpeg.

have now left with 2 C4, enough to give some bonus time.

1)Do not walk, run, crawl behind the guards.
=>These actions create a lot of noises, and when enemies hear it,
they will turn back and look.
=>Leaning against the wall is the best method for not alerting
      the guards.

    Strategy #2-Contributed by <art61462@leonis.nus.edu.sg>
    ===========
You must be fast and nimble with your fingers. With reference to
the ASCII diagram above, this strategy is much faster, but of course,
more difficult. This method is rather sloppy, but is the fastest
strategy. Practice is of course vital before it can be successfull.

1)With C4 equipped, run straight to the position between G1 and G2,
and plant the C4 as quickly as possible. Of course, this will let
you be spotted by the guards, but do not panic.
2)Once the C4 is planted to the ground, wait for a split second for
G1 to hit you with your rifle butt. Your life bar will be shortened
slighly. However, you must not get a shot at this point, as a shot
will take more life from you.
3)Immediately after being hit by the guard,(You should still be
flashing), detonate the C4. If you are still in sub-conscious state,
when you are seeing circles above your head, the exploding C4 will
not hurt you, but will kill about 3 guards at least.
4)Quickly, rise to your feet, dash to the position between G4 and G5
again, when you have regained conscious. If you rise up and get to
the position fast enough, G4 and G5 should still be lying on the
ground due to the previous detonation. Once again, plant another
C4 at that position.(Slighly nearer to G5, but still in position
      between G4 and G5.)
5)Wait for G4, G5, G6 to get up. Once G4 hits you with the rifle butt,
detonate the C4. You should again be in sub-conscious state.
6)The remaining guards should either be dead, or fallen over the
platform. Now, rise and run to the checkpoint at the position, CP.
Your time should be estimated between 15 secs to 17 secs, but with
four unused C4, this should give you more than enough time bonus.

             |
Level 10 |-This is similar to Level 09, except that you are using a
             | Famas, instead of a Socom, and you have to destroy 74 blue
             | UFO targets.
    Time: |-5 Min
    Hint: |-Same as level 09.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
    Level 11 |-Destroy 20 red UFO targets and you will fight ??. I won't

             | THERE!".

Level 12 |-Meryl is lying profusely on the ground, and a gigantic
             | Ghost... [Any... Buster nearby?] walks toward you and
             | Meryl. There are three targets that you can shoot, that
             | is the stomach, head and knee, but which one is the
             | real one?
Note: |-Your mission objective is to destroy him before he walks
             | toward you and steps onto Meryl. If that happens, you will
             | fail the mission.
Hint: |-"Shoot the one where you need it for eating."

Hint: |-The same strategy still applies.

    VR Mission
    ============
Okay, this is the strategy that i have used for the VR mission. It
may not be the best yet, but does work pretty well. And, after a few
practice, you should be able to get the best ranking, without having
to restart or continue etc. The best way is not to get spotted and
collect only weapons and ammos that are only useful to you, and kill
only, when there is a need to. Remember!!! Not only you have to find
ways to survive, but also race against time. Get that???
    _______________________________________________________________________
             |
Level 01 |-When you first begin, go to the left path, then go north.
             | You should see a guard heading up. You will see the
             | checkpoint in the north. But, don't go to the checkpoint
             | first. Go right and you should see another guard approach-
             | ing. Wait till he looks to the south, then go to the right
             | and take the Socom. It contains 6 Socom ammos. You should
             | see another guard at northeast. knock on the wall to lure
             | that guard out and get the Socom suppressor. Then, go all
             | the way northwest. Hide behind the wall. You should see
             | a guard approaching, looking towards the north first,
             | then move to the right. Now, make your way to the
             | checkpoint. This should be under 50 secs.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 02 |-Get Famas first. Then, go to the left. You should see blue-
             | painted 'pit-holes.' Don't go first. Take your aim toward
             | the north and use Socom to shoot at the guard. Now, you
             | have 3 Socom ammos. You will notice that the guard will
             | leave behind 10 Socom ammos. Now, walk on this pit-holes,
             | and take the 10 Socom ammos before the guard from the
             | north come and spot you. After taking the ammos, quickly
             | take the CardB.A and then head south again passing the
             | pitholes. This should alert the guard on the right, and
             | quickly, go make your way to the north passing the pitholes
             | and get Famas bullet on the northeast. Now, you should
             | have noticed that the guard at the north is sleeping, and
             | now make your way to the checkpoint.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 03 |-If you want, get the 3 grenades first on the right. Then,
             | when the guard is not looking, crawl into the tunnel.
             | You should have noticed a guard in the north. Get out of
             | the tunnel when the guard is heading north. Beware that
             | the ground is slippery and creates a lot of noise. Walk
             | a few steps and use your Socom to kill the guard. Then,
             | make your way to the north. You should see two guards
             | near the checkpoint. knock on the wall to lure one of
             | the guard, then make your way to the checkpoint.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 04 |-Take C4 first. Then, take the left path, knock on the wall.
             | This will alert a guard. You should have 10 Socom ammos
             | left now. Now, aim and kill those three guards one by one
             | Do not get yourself spotted. By the time, you have killed
             | the three guards, you should have 1 Socom ammos left. Now,
             | use C4 or Famas to break the wall and make your way to the
             | checkpoint.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 05 |-Get mine detector first. East of you are two claymores and
             | thermal goggles. Get them first. Then, make your way to
             | the north. Be careful, there are infra-red sensors and
             | buried claymore. Use thermal goggles to see. Don't bother
             | about getting the ration on the right path. Just make your
             | way north to the checkpoint.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 06 |-Get the PSG1 on the right. Then, avoid the camera and go
             | down the staircase and get ready to use your PSG-1 to shoot
             | a nearby guard. You must be quick and not be spotted by
             | the camera. Then, at the staircase, kill about one or two
             | more guards. One of the guards, when kill, will leave
             | some ammos behind. Never mind. Now, make your way to
             | the northeast of the checkpoint, without being spotted.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 07 |-First, go to the right, crawl the tunnel, and get the
             | Stinger missiles annd ammos. Note that your radar is
             | jammed and there is a guard patrolling on a higher platform
             | and be careful, not to let him see you. Okay, after getting
             | the stinger missiles, crawl out of the tunnel, and you
             | should see the soldier moving left. Go north and make a
             | right turn on the second path and then travel south to
             | take C4. Next, go all the way north, and you should see
             | a sleeping guard. There's a PSG1 ammos near the sleeping
             | guard, and use the wall as your cover. Get ready and equip
             | the Famas weapon. You should see a guard patrolling down
             | the higher platform and when he makes a turn, quickly make
             | your way to the checkpoint in the northeast. As you go past
             | the sleeping guard, this will wake him up. Run as fast to
             | the checkpoint and use your famas to break the wall to
             | proceed to the next level. If you are fast, you should be
             | able to make it to the checkpoint unharmed.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 08 |-There are 21 UFOs boxes you need to destroy and there are
             | 4 guards in this levels. There's a guard in the south of
             | the staircase, and it is very likely that you will be
             | spotted if you just make your way like that. To prevent
             | being spotted, once you begin the level, get ready to use
             | your PSG1. Shoot the guard guarding the south of the
             | staircase, and this will alert nearby guards. Use this
             | method and kill all guards, if not four, at least three.
             | Simply put a C4 each in the west, south, and east. Then,
             | detonate the C4. If there is a guard still around, this
             | will alert other guards, and now there will be four guards.
             | You should have kill 16 targets by the time you detonate
             | the C4. Now, throw a grenade into the pillar, either West,
             | East, or south. Once the grenade explodes, this should
             | have destroyed the remaining targets. Now, make your way
             | to the checkpoint in the south. Make sure you have at least
             | 5 PSG-1 ammos by now.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 09 |-Go up and take the left path. Use PSG1 and shoot a guard,
             | that is approaching you. Next, hide yourself using the
             | wall. You should have noticed that there is a guard in the
             | north and a guard is slowly approaching you in the south.
             | Wait for the guard in the south to head south first. Now,
             | knock on the wall, and lure the guard in the north all the
             | way to the south. Now, make your way to the checkpoint in
             | the north. Use Famas to blow the wall, and make your way
             | to the checkpoint.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 10 |-This stage is easy, provided that you have PSG1 ammos left.
             | There are four guards here, and you need to kill all guards
             | to make the checkpoint appear. If you have 4 PSG1 ammos
             | left, you should know what to do now. When all guards are
             | killed, make your way to the checkpoint in the north.

    Ninja
    ============
Finally, i got a Big Boss ranking after completing Extreme mode.
The information below was contributed by <bernard78_98@yahoo.com>.
Richard Hinckley <rah_3@email.com> sent in more informations
about the Ninja mode. Anyway, i have gotten the Ninja mode about a
month ago. [Just too lazy to update]

Square |-Perform a forward spinning slash while running.
             |-Tries to grab a guard, just like Solid Snake, then press
             | repeatedly to choke and then slice the enemy's throat
             | when very close.
             |
    Circle |-Cross Swing

Note: |-Using cloaking device and electric field will deplete
             | Ninja's power.
             |-Press R1 to activate and deactivate electric field. By
             | activating electric field, Ninja will have the stealth
             | ability.

    Stage
    -------
The Ninja mode conists of three stages. Though it is pretty short, the
Ninja mode is a blast to play. It just makes me wanting to have more
such stages. The idea of controlling Grayfox, Ninja is cool and i just
wonder what will the story mode play like if we are playing from
Grayfox, Ninja perspective and not Solid Snake perspective. Anyway,
    never mind! Just enjoy it!!!
    _______________________________________________________________________
             |
Level 01 |-There are 15 poles or bamboos in this level, and your
             | mission objective is to slice all the poles. Simply
             | run through and cut them all. Some are on top of a
             | crates and there are guards patrolling around. Anyway,
             | the guards are very easy to kill. It should not be a
             | problem at all.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 02 |-Kill all the 30 guards here in this area. Note that
             | the guards can be very difficult to find when there
             | are only a few left. Try to get spotted to lure all
             | guards out to get a better time.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 03 |-Find and assassinate Solid Snake without being spotted.
             | Try and look at the 'heads'. Note that if you are spotted
             | by any of the guards or kill any wrong guard, you will
             | fail the mission immediately. Try to keep high on top of
             | boxes to search for Solid Snake.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________

    NG Selection
    ============
NG Selection is the final mode in the special mode. Hmm... what can we
expect in here??? You find it out your own. By the way, who are those
aliens??? Oh... what do you think???
    _______________________________________________________________________
             |
Level 01 |-With the mine detector, retrieve all claymores in the
             | ground and the checkpoint will open up.
    Time: |-30 Secs
Note: |-Snake will die if he steps on a buried claymore.
Hint: |-"Using walk and crawl at the right time."
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 02 |-Armed with grenade, start by throwing a grenade, and hide
             | behind the wall. By the time the alien soldier reaches
             | there, the grenade will explode, killing him. Then, move
             | to the checkpoint in the north.
    Time: |-30 Secs
Note: |-The mission will fail if Snake gets spotted.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 03 |-You are on a long path, and there is an alien soldier in
             | the north. The checkpoint is in the north. Having only a
             | cardB.A, what comes to your mind?
    Time: |-1 min
Note: |-The mission will fail if Snake gets spotted.
Hint: |-Alien soldier has amazing eye sight and hearing ability.
             | You must know when to move and when not to.
             |-Consider doing a punch, kick, or throw.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 04 |-Equipped with 35 Socom ammos, you see red UFOs targets
             | lined up in a shape of a '@'. There are some red UFO
             | targets that will vibrate. How do you destroy them?
    Time: |-35 Secs
    Hint: |-Create an explosion chain.
             |-Watch the VR Training Disc Introduction.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 05 |-There are 3 alien soldiers, two are sleeping, and only one
             | is patrolling. Notice the ground surface? If you step onto
             | these 'noisy surface', it will alert the guards nearby.
             | And, the guard is patrolling on the other side where the
             | path leads to the checkpoint and the wall is low on
             | the other side..so what to do?
    Time: |-1 Min
    Hint: |-"Crawling....?"
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 06 |-This level requires you to use your PSG-1, and there are
             | 3 blue targets. But, beware, it isn't as easy as you
             | think. I have a hard time, trying to locate the targets
             | at first.
    Time: |-2 Min
Hint: |-Try using Scope to locate the targets.
             |-Try to visual it in a 3-dimensional view and you will know
             | why it is hard to locate.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 07 |-There is an alien soldier that you need to kill to make
             | the checkpoint appear. There is an unreloaded Stinger
             | Launcher near the staircase. To kill the soldier, you must
             | first find some stinger missiles and there are basically
             | two locations where you can get it. The first one is on
             | the higher platform on the other side, and it takes quite
             | some time to walk to there. The second one is on the lower
             | platform, where the alien soldier is on, and the lower
             | platform is made of 'noisy' platform. So, what do you do?
    Time: |-1 Min 30 Secs
Note: |-The mission will fail if Snake gets spotted.
    _________|_____________________________________________________________
             |
Level 08 |-This is another mystery case. I wonder why it is put in
             | the NG Selection, instead of in the mystery mode. Similar
             | to those levels you have played in the mystery mode, there
             | will be clues for these levels, and you have to find a way
             | to determine whoose the murderer out of these three
             | suspects.
    Time: |-5 Min
Clue: |-A diary on the floor.
             |-The tunnel on the left.
             |=>Something is strange about the wall.

    Ninja Mode-Contributed By <VRTemjinVO@aol.com>
    ----------
Note:I don't have Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions. Try it at your
risk!!! Most of the information in the entire one paragraph
         below remains unedited.

This is the way to unlock Ninja mode for VR Missions. After the
introduction movie, it will show the title screen with Ninja wearing
a mask. Do not touch the controller and after a while, the screen will
change to the introduction movie. Repeat this for about three times.
By the time you see the title screen the fourth time, you should see
Ninja unmasking his face. Go to the special mode and you will be able
    to play as Ninja.

Warning!!!:This cheat is only intended for the American version, VR
Missions, not the Japanese version, which is the Integral
               one.

Warning!!!:I haven't tried it yet so i do not know if it works. Try
               it at your own risk!

Here are some of the information i have gotten from contributors
for Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions. I will welcome more people who
have Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions to contribute more information.
Correct me if there is any wrong information!!!

1)The three movies are found in the VR Mission discs and the voices
have been translated to the English, instead of Japanese. Like
the japanese integral version, you need to complete stages in the
VR discs to unlock the three movies.

2)You can take photos of Naomi Hunter and Mei Ling. As for how to
unlock the photography mode, i am still not sure yet. I will
welcome anyone who wishes to contribute any informations. Refer to
the frequently-asked-question section or below for more details.

3)The 300 VR Training stages are in.

4)Unlike the japanese version, you do not need to play the first two
discs to unlock the Ninja mode. Refer to section above for more
informations on how to unlock Ninja mode.

    Rumours
    =======
It's confirmed that Naomi Hunter is found in the game and that i
heard that she has two poses, one featuring her sitting down and
another standing up. As for Mei Ling, i heard a rumour that you
can't get her in VR Missions. However, i have heard from people
with the VR Missions copy, saying that they have gotten Mei Ling.
One rumour is to complete all stages with the best time. The second
rumour is that you need to complete your original Metal Gear Solid
in extreme mode and somehow, when you put your VR Missions disc in,
the data in the original Metal Gear Solid will be detected and you
can get Mei Ling. Both two cases may or may not apply to the VR
Missions. [Definitely, not for Integral version.] Still, i can't
confirm it for the time being!!! Read below for more details.

Getting Mei Ling-Contributed By David Bui <dbair23@hotmail.com>
    ================
Note:I don't have Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions. Try it at your
risk!!! Most of the information in the entire one paragraph
         below remains unedited.

I found out how to get Mei Ling in Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions
while i was at www.gamefaqs.com. I looked under Metal Gear Solid:
VR Missions and someone had a cheat code on how to get Mei Ling for
it. First you have to get 1st place time in Sneaking Mode for Metal
    Gear Solid:VR Missions. There's a total of 30 levels, 15 for no
weapons and 15 for with weapon [Socom] but choose the time attack
one. So i tried it and all i needed was just a few and when i had
first place time for all of it i checked in the photograhy mode and
i could take pictures of mei-ling. Just thought you guys would like
    to know.

In short, you need to get 1st place time in the Sneaking Mode, both
with and without weapons and all must have the Time Attack Mode.
in final words of conclusion, there are 30 stages, 15 stages each
for weapon [Socom] and without weapon in the Sneaking Mode.

Warning!!!:This cheat is only intended for the American version, VR
Missions, not the Japanese version, which is the Integral
               one.

Warning!!!:I haven't tried it yet so i do not know if it works. Try
               it at your own risk!

    An additional advice:
    -----------------------
Do not use any of the codes unless you are forced to no choice.
Using gameshark codes to unlock all the VR Training modes ruin the
fun of the game and is strongly discouraged. It is understandable if
you use gameshark codes to unlock certain levels like the Ninja
mode, if you want to save time beating the story mode or just don't
have a PocketStation. Or you use the codes to bypass the mod chip
protection. Other than that, there should be no reason to use it at
all. Due to some gameshark gamers' request, i have decided to add the
gameshark codes to it, but do not overabuse it.

Note:I won't bear any responsibility to any damage done to your
system if the gameshark codes do not work.

Codes below are for METAL GEAR SOlID INTEGRAL VERSION only!!!

Codes Made & Tested on 2.4 Version Game Shark

    Enable Code D00C3AB6 1040
    (Must Be On Disc 1 & 2) 800C3AB6 1000
                                                         D00C492A 1040
                                                         800C492A 1000

    (Must Be On VR-Disc) 800C209A 1000

Note:The above two codes are for those who have the older modified
PlayStation and you will need a GameShark/Game Enhancer/Pro
Action Replay to use the above codes to bypass the Modchip
Protection in Metal Gear Solid Integral Normal [Disc One & Two]
         /VR Disc [Disc Three].

Note:I have got mails, complaining that the bypass ModChip Protection
codes, work only for disc 1 and when they reaches Disc Two, the
game does not work, even though the code is still on. Is it
true? Refer to question #11 in 'About Integral' portion in the
         frequently-asked-question section for more details.

    XII)Frequently Asked Question
    =======================================================================
If you have any questions that you would like to ask me, please read
below. You may find your answers to your problems here. More questions
will be added to the frequently-asked-question section with each new
    update of the faq.

In future, if you wish to ask any questions, please read through this
frequently-asked-question section at least once. From now onwards, i
won't entertain anymore questions that can be found here in this
section. However, if the questions that you want to ask can be found
here and you still cannot solve it, feel free to e-mail me and tell
me what your problems are. If you don't describe the problems, then
i will not entertain. I hope you can understand that as i want to
reduce the number of junk mails that i get almost everyday.

I have grouped all the frequently-asked-questions into four different
categories to make things more easier to read. The four categories
are: Walkthrough/Help, About Integral, About VR Missions and finally,
    Miscellaneous Question.

In 'Walkthrough/Help' section, you can find questions related to
solving a particular stage. These are the stages that most people
are stuck in. In 'About Integral' section, you can find questions
related to only the Japanese version of Metal Gear Solid Integral
such as getting the best ranking to unlock Mei Ling, why this disc
doesn't work and so on. In 'About VR Missions' section, you can
find questions related to only the US version, which is Metal Gear
Solid:VR Missions such as the rumours of Mei Ling and so on. Lastly,
in the 'Miscellaneous Question' section, you can find questions that
are related both to Metal Gear Solid Integral and Metal Gear Solid:
VR Missions, those that doesn't belong to any other three categories
such as asking me some personal questions and so on.

    One Final Note:
    ===============
If you have any questions, please write an e-mail and send it to my
mailbox. Don't take the bother and try to ask me via ICQ because it
is likely that i will avoid answering. Of course, chatting is another
different matter but that also depends on whether i have the time
because i may be occupied with replying e-mails and so on. I found it
quite fustrating to answer questions via the ICQ. So to make things
easier for me, please send an e-mail instead.

Please note that I will not be updating the frequently-asked-questions
section anymore. Therefore, some of the questions that are found here
may be outdated and no longer be relevant. I apologise for not being
able to update the questions regularly.

    =======================================================================
1)I am stuck in Variety Mode level 05. Can you help me? Please..?

Refer to the VR Training Guide. I have added some more details so
you should be able to solve your problems after reading it. There
are a total of three strategies and these strategies should put
       you in the first ranking.

    =======================================================================

2)I am stuck in Advanced Mode Famas Level 05 Time Attack Mode. Can
you help me? There are cameras around, and i have limited time.
I always get killed before i can reach the checkpoint.

I do admit it's quite hard but I have devised my own strategy,
which I find it to be very easy. Just a hint to you. Stay
directly below the camera. You should see soldiers in the north,
and in the centre is a camera, and up the stairs, there is another
one. To get rid of the two soldiers, one on the left, and right,
where the centre is a camera, don't go head on, instead stay there,
and use your Famas to shoot. Once they are killed, get ready to
       move on.

    =======================================================================

3)I am stuck in Variety Mode level 08. Can you help me? I tried to
shoot the 5th Target, but ended up shooting at the enemy.
Please...? I am so frustrated now!!!

Try going to the highest platform and aim from there. You will
       know why later on.

    =======================================================================

4)I am stuck in Puzzle Mode level 06? How do I destroy the highest
cube at the top? I don't think there's a way for me to shoot
       that highest cube.

This is a very good question. I was stuck once here. Your first
priority should be to destroy the highest cube first, then think
of destroying those at the lower platform. First, go to the
highest platform in the left-hand corner. From there, fire a
missile, and you should see a hole where your missile can enter.
Go into that hole, and you will be up in an incline. Remember
the Nikita lessons? This is not all. From here, i leave you to
figure out how to make the way to the top. My advice is take
note that the Nikita missile have just enough fuel to reach the
top, so find the shortest route and do not move your missile too
much, as this will reduce the speed.

    =======================================================================

5)I am stuck in NG Selection level 08. How do I solve the mystery?
There is simply no other clues available. I am stuck!!!

Warning:This is the solution!!! Avoid reading at all cost!!!

First, you should see a diary on the floor, and to the left,
is a tunnel. Go to the left wall of the tunnel, and knock on
the wall. Keep on knocking, and you should see the guards
coming down. After some time, two of the guards will left, and
the murderer, feeling guilty will approach the dead soldier and
take the diary on the floor. I suppose you know what to do now.
The murderer is actually the one who picked up the diary.

    =======================================================================

6)I am stuck in Puzzle level 05. There are two guards on each side
and i have only a Famas weapon and a few ammos. Before i can
destroy all those walls, the two guards will come up and i will
       get spotted.

Try holding X while pressing Square to shoot. This will enable
you to run and shoot. Now, try it and see if you can pass the
       stage this time.

    =======================================================================

7)I am stuck at Sneaking Mode level 09. I can't get past the cameras.

Warning:This is the solution!!! Avoid reading at all cost!!!

Use CardB.A to hide yourself. Make your way up. The cameras will
rotate itself in a 180 degress manner. If you are within the sight
of a camera, hide in the cardB.A, and do not move. Once the camera
moves away, and you are out of the sight, slowly make your way up.
Repeat this strategy for all cameras, and you should be able to
       reach the checkpoint soon.

    =======================================================================

8)How do I solve Mystery Mode level 04?

Warning:This is the solution!!! Avoid reading at all cost!!!

The clue is "broken spectacles." What can you conclude from here?
The broken spectacles belong to the suspect. So, how do you
determine who is the suspect? Someone without spectacles will have
a problem seeing things clearly, right? So, this is what you should
do. Drag the suspect out. Kick and punch him if you wish, perhaps
until he falls to the ground. Next, when he tries to return back
to his position, because he can't see things clearly, he will knock
against the wall and fall. Hmm... i guess you know who the murderer
is now, right? Need i say anymore?

    =======================================================================

9)How do I solve Mystery Mode level 08?

Warning:This is the solution!!! Avoid reading at all cost!!!

This is even more simple. View the suspect in first person view
mode by pressing triangle. If someone is guilty, his heart will
be pumping abnormally at a tremendously fast rate. Get that? I
suppose you know what to do now.

    =======================================================================

10)How do I solve Mystery Mode level 09?

Warning:This is the solution!!! Avoid reading at all cost!!!

Hmm... this is slightly different from Mystery Mode level 04.
First, go up and then head right to the end. Look down and you
should see a path in the south. Head down and take the item at
the end. Snake will disguise himself. Now, inspect the suspects.
Notice the reaction??? Because someone can't see clearly, he
recognises people wrongly. Get what i mean???

    =======================================================================

11)How do I solve Mystery Mode level 10?

Warning:This is the solution!!! Avoid reading at all cost!!!

This is the most simplest level in the entire Mystery Mode. As
mentioned before, patience is a virtue. You probably lacked of
that because you asked me this question. Anyway, just wait until
the time runs out and see what happens. Meanwhile, feel free to
look at the decorations in the house to see if you can find any
       clues.

    =======================================================================

12)Is there a way to solve Puzzle Mode level 09 under 1 min?

Yes. Currently, there are two strategies, contributed by
       Richard Hinckley <rah_3@email.com> and Schlauchi
       <Schlauchi@gmx.de>. I have not tried Richard Hinckley's
strategy yet so try it yourself. As for Schlauchi, i have
tried it and it has been tested successful by me.

And, if you are still stuck in this stage, e-mail me and in
your e-mail, you must state that you want me to send you the
Mpeg that Schlauchi <Schlauchi@gmx.de> send me. The Mpeg is
basically a video clip, showing how to complete Puzzle Mode
level 09 using Schlauchi <Schlauchi@gmx.de>'s method. But,
take note that the file is over 1 MB and it's pretty huge.
Make sure that your mailbox can contain this huge amount
       of file.

If you want the mpeg, please state everything clearly such as
telling me that your mailbox can hold over 1 MB and you are stuck
in puzzle 09 and seriously needs the mpeg. I don't want to cause
your mailbox to overload and then later on, you blame me.
Furthermore, if you did not state these information clearly, I
will just ignore the mail. Why? More than 20 people have e-mailed
me, requesting me to send it to them. I need to zip the file
again, and after sending it, delete it again. Besides, the file
takes over 1 MB and sending a huge file will take me around ten
minutes. If you have completed puzzle 09, don't bother to e-mail
me and say that you want the mpeg.

13)How do I solve puzzle #10? I really have no idea. Please help me!!!
I am really stuck this time!

So far, i have three strategies for beating this level. Strategy #1
has been tested personally by me and i have got the best time using
this method. Strategy #2 is another alternative method which you
can use and is devised by Richard Hinckley <rah_3@email.com>.
Strategy #3 is another alternative method which can use and is
devised by Khairuman Bin Lani <art61462@leonis.nus.edu.sg>

Warning:Below shows the solutions!!! Avoid reading at all cost!!!

       Strategy #1
       ===========
Okay, this is what you should do. Use the mine detector to locate
the claymore location. Since you have limited life, if you step
on the claymore, it will kill you instantly. The only way is to
lure the guard and when he steps on the claymore, it will destroy
the barrier. Then, you can make your way to the checkpoint. This
is what you should do. Using the mine detector, the claymore is
located just north. You cannot walk directly to get the claymore
because you will leave behind footprints and the guard will come
out and spot you. What you should do is when the guard is not
looking, crawl to the north to get the claymore. Now, your next
job is to lure the guard. Here are some points that you should
       take note of:

a)Footprints will disappear after some time, so stay a respectable
distance away from him without him noticing you. Because if you
walk very far away, the footprints might just disappear and he
will then return to his position.

b)To lure the guard, make your footprints look natural. What do i
mean? Walk in a straight path. I mean, if you run around, you
may create too many footprints and this mess up the track. Since
the guard cannot figure out where the footprints lead to, he may
       return to his original position.

c)Notice that just before the checkpoint, there's a wall. Use it
       to hide.

I got several mails asking me how to solve puzzle #10. I have
already described the way you should do. Don't get disheartened if
you fail! Practise a few times and you should get it!

Tips:If you already know the location of the claymore, you can
skip getting the mine detector. Thus, it will save you more
time. Even if you get the mine detector, you can still get
the best time using this method. If this is the first time
you are playing it, i suggest you take the mine detector.

Strategy #2-Contributed By Richard Hinckley <rah_3@email.com>
       ===========
I have not EDITED any of his strategy below. Neither have I TRIED
his strategy yet. Therefore, i cannot confirm anything. But,
after reading it, it seems to look possible also. Try it
       yourself.

Instead of crawling over to get the mine detector, you just
need to be more than 45 degrees away from the direction he is
facing. And also, letting him follow the footprints is slow.
Instead, knock on the wall to get him going the right way. So
the technique to beat this level is...

As soon as he looks away from the door, you run in, and toss him
anywhere INSIDE of the room (not into the doorway). Then you run
out, go north to get the claymore, and cross back to the south
side of the doorway. Start knocking and KEEP KNOCKING until he
hears you. When he gets up, he'll first look around briefly,
wondering what knocked him over. After a second or two, he will
see the footprints, but you don't want that to happen. He will
wander around for too long following them. So, if you're still
knocking, he will hear the knock, and follow the sound instead of
the footprints. As soon as he says "What was that noise?" or
whatever he says in the Japanese version, run, and he will follow
only the footprints you left AFTER knocking, thus eliminating the
time walking around to where the claymore was. Then proceed as
normal for the rest of the level.

The guard will not spot you if you have fulfilled these two
       special conditions:

a)You do not charge in when he is looking at the doorway. About
45 degrees from the doorway and that will do.

b)Immediately grab the claymore and run back to the doorway
without any DELAY after you have tossed him.

       Strategy 3-Contributed By <art61462@leonis.nus.edu.sg>
       ==========
I have not EDITED any of his strategy below. Neither have I TRIED
his strategy yet. Therefore, i cannot confirm anything. But,
after reading it, it seems to look possible also. Try it
       yourself.

This is how to do it in less than 50 seconds. But you must first
know where the claymore mine is so as not to waste time.

a)Run to the bottom wall of the soldier's area "exit". Wait for
       him to turn upwards.

b)When he is not looking, quickly run in and choke him about
8-9 times. If you choke less than that, he may recover earlier
and spot you; if you choke more, he will die and you won't be
able to use him to detonate the mine. Either way you will fail
the mission. So keep to about 8 chokes.

c)After the choking is done, he will pass out. AT THIS POINT,
WAIT IN THAT AREA FOR 2 SECONDS OR SO! This is important
because you want your foot tracks to be fresh so that he will
follow them when he wakes up. [Fresh... meaning if you leave
later, footprints will not disappear that fast.]

d)Leave the area and run to the claymore mine area. Somewhere
near the claymore mine, crawl to get it.

e)Rise quickly and then dash to the bottom wall of the soldier's
exit again to hide from the soldier's vision. At this juncture,
he will rise up and look around for what hit him. Equip your
       claymore and wait. Stay calm.

f)The soldier will now follow the tracks that Snake had left
behind earlier when Snake ran out of the area to get the mine.

g)As soon as he walks out looking at the tracks, follow him
closely. Be about two steps behind him.

h)Once he is close to the claymore area at the top [with his
front body facing the glass wall and away from Snake], place
the claymore right behind him. The claymore will explode and
kill him and the wall should also explode to pieces.

i)Now all you have to do is make your way down and up to the
       destination.

This method worked for me very well, and it's easy too. You
don't have to lure him all the way to the glass wall area
since the soldier might just turn and go back to his original
       position.

But this method might need some practice before you can get
it right. Trust me, it will be over under 50 seconds if you
       are good.

    =======================================================================

1)Is the graphics enhanced for the story mode?

Basically, in my own opinion, i don't think there are any
differences between the graphics in the story mode. The only thing
that makes the story mode difference is the extra first person
view mode, which allows you to play in Doom-style manner.

    =======================================================================

2)How do I unlock the three movies in the Extra Mode?

You can unlock these three movies by playing the 300 stages. When
you have completed a certain percentage of the stages, the movies
will be unlocked one by one. Note that TGS Roll A is available
initially. You only need to unlock TGS Roll B and E3. Refer to the
secret section in VR Disc for the exact percentages.

    =======================================================================

3)What happens if my PlayStation can't bypass the mod chip
protection and i want to play Metal Gear Solid Integral? How
do I overcome the ModChip Protection?

You will need a GameShark/Game Enhancer/Pro Action Replay etc to
overcome the ModChip Protection. The codes are listed in the
gameshark section. Please refer to that section. Note that i
will not bear any responsiblity if the any of the codes do not
work or any damage is done to your system.

    =======================================================================

4)How do I unlock Ninja mode for Metal Gear Solid Integral?

Use a gameshark or have a PocketStation. The gameshark codes for
unlocking Ninja is in the gameshark section or in the secret
section in VR Disc. For more info on PDA, please refer to the
secret section too. If you have the American VR Mission, look
at the VR Mission section for the easiest way to unlock the Ninja
       mode.

    =======================================================================

     5)What happened if I don't have a PDA/no Gameshark and what is
another alternative to unlock Ninja mode?

Play the story mode, and get the best ranking. For more information
about the ranking system, please refer to the secret section.

    =======================================================================

6)What happens if I have failed to exchange datas with 5 other
players within 7 days using the PocketStation?

       Sorry, I don't have a PocketStation. I'll afraid i can't answer
you this question. I guess you probably won't get to open Ninja
mode if you fail to meet any of the requirements. I really
       can't confirm with you.

    =======================================================================

7)How do I get to take photos of Mei Ling or Naomi Hunter in the
photography mode for Metal Gear Solid Integral.

Refer to the secret section in the VR Disc. There seems to be
many rumours. However, most have confirmed that you need to beat
the story mode either easy, normal or hard to get Naomi Hunter
and only extreme to get Mei Ling.

    =======================================================================

8)How do I play the first person view mode?

Complete the game once, except very easy in all difficulty mode.
Then, go to Special option in the first disc and select the first
       person view mode.

    =======================================================================

9)How do I switch to first person view mode and vice versa?

       Press or tap Triangle twice.

    =======================================================================

10)What is the difficulty level for the first person view mode?

Honestly speaking, i never tried that. But, i believe that
once you access to the first person view mode, you will begin
a new game and all the special items you have gotten like camera,
stealth, bandana will be gone. I believe the difficulty level
is at normal but i am not pretty sure because when i first
complete the game, my difficulthy level was set to normal. Sorry,
       i can't confirm it.

    =======================================================================

11)The ModChip Protection codes work only for disc 1. When i reach
disc 2, the game freezes, even though the code is still on.
       What should i do?

       Sorry, i don't know. I don't have a gameshark, so i can't help
you. Meanwhile, i will try and find out more for you. As for
the American VR Missions, i believe there is no ModChip
Protection. Meanwhile, someone has sent me some information
regarding how you change disk. I have not tried it yet so
try it at your own risk!!!

The information below is contributed by <MetsFan922@aol.com>

Okay, here's the scoop. I have Metal Gear Solid Integral and i
know how to switch disks. First, get a thin piece of tape.
First, put the tape in any American disk, then put the tape on
the sensor to keep it down. Let it spin for about 3 seconds.
Take it out and put in disk 2. Now, it will run normally.
Immediately save, shut and restart from disk 2. This is
how i beat the game and it really works.

    About VR Missions
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    =======================================================================

1)When will the US version arrive?

Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions will be released somewhere in October
1999. It is already out now in the market.

    =======================================================================

2)Is it true that the US version will not have the first two discs,
only the the third VR Training Disc?

Yes. The VR Training Disc is already out in the US. A pity that
the first two discs didn't make it to the US. Perhaps, Konami
thinks that most already had the original Metal Gear Solid,
therefore it is not neccessary to bring the first two discs to
the US. Forget about the useless first person view mode. Why did
the Japanese always get the best?

    =======================================================================

3)Why didn't Konami release the first two discs in the United States?

Honestly speaking, i really have no idea. But, we could possibly
guess some reasons out. I am not sure but this is what i think:

a)Konami may thinks that there isn't anything new for the first two
discs, other than a useless first person view mode.

b)Knowing that the first person view mode is useless, Konami might
go without the first two discs. This will not only cut down
production cost, but also time too!

    =======================================================================

4)Does the Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions have PocketStation
       compatibility?

Sorry, i don't know! I don't have VR Missions. It will be nice if
someone can tell me. And, assuming there is, you will be able to
use a japanese PocketStation to play, just like Final Fantasy VIII.
One of my friends, who has PocketStation told me that the PDA,
PocketStation worked both for the US and Japanese version of
Final Fantasy VIII. So, if the PocketStation works for Final
Fantasy VIII, it might work for Metal Gear Solid as well. But, i
       am not terribly sure.

    =======================================================================

5)How can i take photographs for Naomi Hunter and Mei Ling for
Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions? Is there a way to unlock the
       photography mode?

    =======================================================================

6)How do i unlock the Ninja mode for Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions?

Refer to the VR Mission section for more details.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    Miscellaneous Question
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    =======================================================================

1)What will the graphics be liked in the 300 VR Training?

The graphics will be similar to the training mode you have played
in the original Metal Gear Solid, except that there will be
more advanced VR Training to keep you occupy that did not make
it to the original Metal Gear Solid.

    =======================================================================

     2)Who is Hideo Kojima?

He is the director behind many Konami games, including the
highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid, which was released for
the PlayStation, as well as other games like Snatcher,
       policenauts.

    =======================================================================

3)Have you played any other Metal Gear games before beside the PSX
Metal Gear Solid? Eg the MSX version.

Yes. Metal Gear Solid Integral. <Laugh> Okay, honestly speaking,
no. The PSX version is the first Metal Gear game that i played.

    =======================================================================

4)How can i play the previous Metal Gear?

I am not pretty sure. But, you might want to find an emulator and
       the rom.

    =======================================================================

5)Is Konami planning to make Metal Gear Solid 2?

Quite possibly, but definitely not the PS. It's unlikely to be
in the Dreamcast or N64 either. Latest rumour states that MGS2 may
be in works for PS2. PS2 is far more technologically advanced than
Dreamcast, and perhaps the only system that can make the designers'
dream a realistic. But that doesn't matter. We can expect MSG2
with more new cool ideas. For the time being, enjoy Integral first.

    =======================================================================

6)Will Metal Gear Solid be released in the PC?

Yes. According to a report, Konami and Microsoft are interested in
porting this anticipated PlayStation game to PC. As for the
details, i am not pretty sure.

    =======================================================================

7)Will the PC version of Metal Gear Solid have three CDs like the
       Integral package?

       Sorry, i don't know. I can't confirm with you.

    =======================================================================

8)When is the release date of the PC Metal Gear Solid?

It is rumoured to be somewhere next year in 2000. Again, i can't
confirm with you. That's what i heard. There's still possibilities
that the game might not be released for the PC.

    =======================================================================

9)Will the PC version of Metal Gear Solid have enhanced graphics?

Quite possibly but again i am not pretty sure. If you have a really
good computer with the latest soundcards, 3dfx-equipped or whatever,
       there is still a chance.

    =======================================================================

10)What are the minimum requirements for the PC version of Metal Gear
       Solid?

How do i know? The PC version has not been released yet!

    =======================================================================

11)Will Konami release previously made Metal Gear games?

Sorry, i really don't know and chances of them coming out are
       very unlikely.

    =======================================================================

12)Does completing all the other levels give you access to Ninja mode?

The answer is no. If you have completed all other levels, leaving
only three levels left for Ninja, you should have 99.0% of the
training completed. I have tried that before in Metal Gear Solid
Integral and this is confirmed. As for Metal Gear Solid:VR
Missions, i believe it should be the same as well.

    =======================================================================

13)Does gaining all the best time and ranking in the VR Training give
       you access to Ninja mode?

The answer is no again. Too bad!

    =======================================================================

14)How do i know that the Ninja mode is unlocked?

You should see Grayfox unmasking himself at the title screen.

    =======================================================================

15)Can datas of original Metal Gear Solid be imported into Metal
Gear Solid Integral or Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions?

For Metal Gear Solid Integral, the original US or japanese Metal
Gear Solid datas cannot be used. As for Metal Gear Solid:VR
Missions, i am not terribly sure. But, it seems unlikely to
be possible. On the other hand, i heard that you need a data
in extreme mode from the original Metal Gear Solid to get Mei
Ling in Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions. I can't confirm this too.

    =======================================================================

16)I heard that there is a program which allows you to view
PlayStation CGs in your PC. Is it true?

       The URL is http://www.phoenix.net/~feldon/psxvideo.html
Indeed, you can. Go to the above URL to download the programs
and read the explanations there to understand how to use it.
CGs or FMVs are created in .Str files and what the program
does is to read these .Str files. Both PSXVideo and PSXPlay
allows you to view any PlayStation CGs that are in .Str
format on your PC. PSXVideo allows you to take screenshots.
However, you must bear in mind that you will need a CDFind
file to extract .Str files into your hard drive. And, note
that .Str files very huge and it's all about hundreds of
       megabytes.

    =======================================================================

17)What is an emulator or a rom?

You can try and download a Nes or a SNES emulator, as well as
the roms from the internet. A Nes/SNES emulator is a program
which allows you to play Nes/SNES games on your PC. But, you
need the rom to play the games. Rom is actually the game itself.
There are quite a number of emulators available that are designed
to play various console games such as ZSNES emulator to play
SNES games, Bleem to play PS games and so on. Simply type in
either emulator or rom in any search engine and you will have
a whole list of sites which you can refer to.

    =======================================================================

18)When is PocketStation released in the United States?

Probably 2000 or later. Sony hasn't made any announcement yet.
You just have to wait and see.

    =======================================================================

19)Is PlayStation 2 backwardly compatible true? Will all PlayStation
games be enhanced when it is played in PlayStation 2?

Yes. PlayStation 2 will be backwardly compatible, meaning all
PlayStation games can be played on PlayStation 2. However,
Sony has announced that there won't be any enhancements. From
what i have heard, PlayStation 2 ultises an emotion engine and
it's indeed really very powerful. Talk about realistic
facial expressions. The screenshots in Final Fantasy Movie
are perfect example. Since PlayStation 2 is backwardly
compatible, you can expect to use PlayStation Peripherals
like dual shock controller, and even PocketStation too etc
on PlayStation 2. That includes even the PocketStation, PDA.

    =======================================================================

20)Can PlayStation play PlayStation 2 games?

Of course, not! The PlayStation 2 games are more technologically
advanced than the PlayStation games. Obviously, the PlayStation
can't play the PlayStation 2 games. And, i guess the answer is
pretty obvious. If PlayStation can play PlayStation 2 games, what
for do we need a PlayStation 2 system? The PlayStation 2, on the
other hand, can play PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games. Does
that make sense to you? Logical, right?

    =======================================================================

21)I heard that there are some PlayStation games that PlayStation 2
can't play it. Is that true? And, what is the PSOne?

I heard about it too. This may sound a rather bad news but don't
forget that majority of the Japanese PlayStation games still work
on the PlayStation 2. Sony has listed about 15 PlayStation games
that aren't compatible with PlayStation 2. But, thanksfully, most
of the games are old games that aren't really very good. This is
more on techical problems. PlayStation 2 is the first console to be
able to support backward compatibility. But i believe that in the
future PlayStation 2 models, more PlayStation games will be able to
be played on the PlayStation 2. The chip works like an emulator for
the PlayStation. And, don't forget that there is no emulator yet
that can emulate a console successfully, meaning with ALL games on
that particular console being compatible and without suffering any
slowdowns, common gitches and so on. Therefore, i don't think it's
rather surprising. Anyway, Sony is currently testing out thousands
of PlayStation games on the PlayStation 2 and we can expect a list
of non-compatible PlayStation games on the PlayStation 2 to be
released very soon. I sincerely hope that all the technical problems
on the PlayStation 2 will be fixed soon and that all PlayStation
games can run smoothly on the PlayStation.

As for PSOne, I don't really know much. I suppose it is almost the
same as your normal PlayStation, except that the size has been
reduced to a CD-Player. Looks more cool in design.

    =======================================================================

22)When is PlayStation 2 going to be released?

PlayStation 2 has already arrived in Japan in 4th March 2000. As
for the US release of PlayStation 2, you probably have to wait
until late 3rd quarter of the year or early 4th quarter of the
year. As for me, i think i am not buying a PlayStation 2 this
year, which is 2000. Perhaps, next year, 2001 until the price
drops furthur and a modified PlayStation 2, that can play both
Japanese and US games, is released. [Hope that a PlayStation 2
that can play all PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games, whether
it is English or Japanese games, will be released soon.] You can
find related information regarding PlayStation 2 in related sites
       like IGNPS2, www.videogames.com etc.

    =======================================================================

23)Now that PlayStation 2 has arrived in Japan, what's your view about
it? Do you think that PlayStation 2 can beat Sega Dreamcast and be
able to compete with the upcoming Nintendo's Dolphin? And, what do
       you think about Microsoft's X-Box?

Basically, i think the system is awesome. I heard that within two
days, more than a million PlayStation 2 has been sold in Japan.
For the exact figures, i am not pretty sure. I heard that there
was a long queue for people who was purchasing a PlayStation 2. The
PlayStation 2 release is indeed a big phenomenon. I heard that
import of PlayStation 2 in Japan is now illegal. Well, not really
       sure if that's true!

So, will PlayStation 2 exceeds Sega Dreamcast in terms of sales? I
personally believe that this is possible. While Sega is well known
for sports and arcade games, Sega Dreamcast lacks RPG genre. As you
know, the most popular game genre in Japan is RPG. Furthermore,
Working Design will not be producing games for Sega Dreamcast.
What does that mean! No lunar games for the Dreamcast. I expect
Working Design to continue the lunar series in PlayStation 2, thus
furthur expand the PlayStation 2 RPG saga. However, i can't deny
the fact that Sega Dreamcast has RPG games like Phantasy Stars etc.
However, don't forget about Final Fantasy and Draqon Quest. One
Final Fantasy game alone can sell more than ten Sega Dreamcast
games or perhaps even more. And, according to Sega, it seems like
sales of Sega Dreamcast has started to decline in Japan. Perhaps,
it's because that everyone is saving money to buy a PlayStation 2.
[Did anyone mention about Square Millennium Show???]

As for online gaming, i don't really care much. Of course, the
ability to play online games with your friends is cool [Of course,
money too.] I personally think that online support isn't that
important when it comes to RPG. Of course, i may be wrong. That's
just personal opinion. It just makes me wonder how RPGs like Final
Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XI are going to provide online support
to compete with Sega Dreamcast. Perhaps, just download some datas,
i suppose. In my opinion, online support appeals more to outside
       Japan like US.

As for the PlayStation 2 launch games, i think they are incredible.
Street Fighter Ex 3, a new Ridge Racer from Namco, Gran Turismo
2000 and so on... Overall, i still can't comment anything as i do
not have a PlayStation 2 yet. Keep a look out at Tekken Tag
Tournament for the PlayStation 2. I think it will beat Sega Dream-
cast's Soul Calibur. And, i suppose Tekken 4 will be on the
PlayStation 2. Will Namco make games for Sony PlayStation 2 or
Sega Dreamcast? I don't think that Namco will make many games
for Sega Dreamcast like Tekken 4 even though Namco's Soul Calibur
is on the Dreamcast. That's because no other system can handle
Soul Calibur perfectly, other than Sega Dreamcast in 1999, right?
Get what i am trying to say?

As for Nintendo's Dolphin, I can't comment anything. But, we can
be sure that the Nintendo's Dolphin will be on par with the Play-
Station 2 in terms of specifications.

When Bill Gates announced that Microsoft is making a console system
called X-Box, it sent shockwaves to everyone. Hardware manufacturer
companies like Nintendo, Sony and Sega, whom have dominated the
console market for years are definitely going to be affected by it.
MicroSoft may be an expert when it comes to all PC-related stuff.
But on how to get as many third-party developers to work on the
games for X-Box, MicroSoft does need to learn from these masters
like Nintendo and Sony. MicroSoft reveals that the X-Box is twice
as powerful as the PlayStation 2 and clearly enough, this poses
a threat to the promising future of PlayStation 2. Why? If games
like Metal Gear Solid get released in both X-Box and PlayStation 2,
the X-Box version of Metal Gear Solid will most likely to be better
than PlayStation 2. If more games play and look better in X-Box,
the PlayStation 2 will suffer. Given both consoles with the same
games to choose, which one will you choose? Definitely, the one
which is more powerful. A console needs to have many exclusive
games in order to make it a success. PlayStation has many exclusive
games like Final Fantasy, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Tekken
etc while Nintendo 64 has exclusive games made by Rare, Zelda,
Mario, Pokemon and manages to survive in the competition. Still,
Sony needs Square more than any other third-party developers. If
Square is gone, there will be no Final Fantasties and PlayStation 2
is really hard to be a success as Sony doesn't have many third-party
games to keep the PlayStation 2 survive. Remember that games like
Final Fantasy sold millions worldwide. The total sales of five
ordinary games can't even match up to a sale of just one Final
Fantasy game. Square is the triumph card of Sony's future in the
console market. Just in case you are interested:

    24)What about Nintendo's Dolphin?

I don't know. Nintendo hasn't made any official announcement
about Dolphin. But, you can expect it to be a great system,
just like PlayStation 2 with many advanced chips. I personally
believe that the next Nintendo system will be another name,
definitely not Dolphin, which i think it sounds awesome. Dolphin
is perhaps just a codename. The new Nintendo system will definitely
be on par with PlayStation 2, if not perhaps better. This time,
i expect Nintendo's new system to be CD/DVD-based, instead of
sticking to the old cartridge format. [Refer to above questions
for more details.] Dolphin will definitely be released either in
       2001 or even later.

25)Why is there a Metal Gear Solid Integral faq in a Metal Gear
       Solid:VR Missions section?

For goodness sake, please do not ask such a ridiculous question!
Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions is the US version of the VR Disc
of Metal Gear Solid Integral. Metal Gear Solid Integral has three
discs and Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions has only one disc. The
first two discs that are missing are the story mode found in the
original Metal Gear Solid. In addition to that, the package
includes a first person view mode. Basically, the strategies or
walkthrough for Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions are essentially the
same as the VR Discs of Metal Gear Solid Integral because the
       levels are the same.

    =======================================================================

26)Will you be writing a separate faq for Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions?
There isn't any single faq based on Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions
till yet [as of 25th December'99].

It's very unlikely and there are a few reasons why. First, i don't
have the game so i don't know what's in and what's not in. Further-
more, i don't think i will buy Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions.
Secondly, till today, i still haven't got enough informations
about unlocking Mei Ling and Naomi in the photography mode. Ever
since Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions was released, i got several
mails and sometimes i got confused whether they were asking
informations for Metal Gear Solid Integral or Metal Gear Solid:
VR Missions. Thirdly, all the neccessary informations, hints, tips
that you need, to complete VR Disc can be found in this faq. So,
it seems meaningless to redo the walkthrough section again for
Metal Gear Solid:VR Missions. I rather spent the time on something
else such as playing games or writing other faqs as it is more
meaningful. From the mails i have got, there shouldn't be much
problems on the sneaking mode, weapon mode and the advanced mode.
The problems that most people encountered are mainly on the special
mode such as the Puzzle mode, Mystery mode and so on. I purposely
made hints throughout the walkthrough as i did not want to spoil
your fun. If i tell you the strategy directly, then it will not be
fun at all. The fun lies in racking your brains and solves the
problems, particularly the mystery and puzzle modes. The questions
i got are those frequently-asked like Puzzle #10. Basically,
there's all i have to say.

    =======================================================================

27)When did you actually start writing a faq?

It was actually last year in November'1998. I was reading Henry
Chan's faq on Tactics Orge and an idea suddenly struck me! At that
time, i had just passed my 15th birthday. [Right now, i am 16.]
I was playing the US version of Brave Fencer Musashi at that time.
Somehow, there wasn't any strategy guides available for the US
Brave Fencer Musashi so i decided to give it a try. Though it
wasn't a school project, writing a faq is a pretty challenging
task for me. My second faq was of course Final Fantasy VIII demo.
Since i have the demo disc packed with Brave Fencer Musashi, i
decided to start off with my second faq. My third faq will be Final
Fantasy VIII, followed by Metal Gear Solid Integral. I am a huge
Final Fantasy fan and i imported the Japanese version as well and
decided to write a Basic Guide on it. However, there were many
errors in my faq since the game was Japanese and special thanks
to Kaze Yagami<Yagami@pacific.net.sg> for clearing up my doubts.
       Between September'1999 and November'1999, i was having a major
exam so i stopped writing faqs for several months until
December'1999. Right now, i have written quite a few faqs on
Brave Fencer Musashi, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy VIII
Demo and Metal Gear Solid Integral, as well as several reviews
on my favourite games at www.gamefaqs.com. Feel free to give me
       any comments!

    =======================================================================

28)Which game do you think have taken the PlayStation technology to
       extreme limits?

It's either Gran Turismo 2 or Metal Gear Solid. Gran Turismo 2's
graphic is truly awesome, with a more advanced Al than its
original. But, in terms of graphics, Al, ram memory, creativity,
sound effects, music, voices, i will nominate Metal Gear Solid.
It's truly an original game. It's not Resident Evil or Parasite Eve
style. The setting of the game is quite similar to most Hollywood
films and that's what i like about it. [Reminds me of Bond and
Jackie Chan.] And then, the ability to view in first person mode,
take photos, view in the scope mode are incredible. Metal Gear
Solid took around two years to be completed, but sadly, the game
can be completed in less than 7 hours. According to Hideo Kojima,
he wanted to make a short game for Metal Gear Solid. Hideo Kojima
probably felt that there were things left unfinished, therefore
returned with the essential "director's cut" called Metal Gear
Solid Integral. I suppose you will agree with me that Metal Gear
Solid has a lot of potential. Just look at the wish list. It's
interesting to see what Konami can do to Metal Gear as technology
improves, especially with superconsoles looming over the horizon
       like PlayStation 2 and Dolphin.

And, I can't forget about Square's latest hit, Vagrant Story- the
game that surpasses even Metal Gear Solid in terms of realism, Al.
The characters' motion are so well-captured and the cutscenes
appear seamlessly. Square is heading the right direction if you
want to talk about realism. Square seems determined in bridging
the gaps between movie production and videogames fields and based
on their recent games, they are very close to doing it.

    =======================================================================

29)What do you think of the strategy guides written by other game
magazines like Electronic Gaming Monthly, GamePro, PSM and so
       on?

One word, "Sucks!" I seldom read strategy guides written by
those game magazines for a few reasons. Of course, the official
game guides written by Bradygames, and other publishers are
another case. First of all, these strategy guides are not detailed
enough and always missing a few important points. That's because
they have to squeeze every single information into a limited
space. Secondly, these strategy guides are often quite
disorganised, specifically RPG games, but i am not referring to
every single ones as that will make me look as if i am biased
against them. The only good thing in their strategy guides are
the numerous screenshots and that you don't need to waste time
printing out strategy guide, unlike when referring to a faq.
[but, don't forget that faqs are free of charge!!!] A picture
tells a thousand words. This is a great advantage that these
strategy guides have over faqs. Faq writers have to visual
what is happening on in the game and then using his words to
express, which is quite tough actually. However, the screenshots
can be of a spoiler too! I am not saying that all the strategy
guides written by all these game magazines are no good but...
And talk about plagiarism... Oh, forget about that!

    =======================================================================

30)Your personal feelings toward the game. Just write whatever you
think about this game in your review. Don't worry about what
others said in their review. Just provide enough evidences to
support your reasonings. Of course, you can read a few other
reviews on a particular game as some samples for you before you
write one on it. But, please write an original review. It's
best to minimise any grammatical or spelling error and write
in clear, concise English, if possible. Gamefaqs really need a
review editor. Basically, most of the reviews i have read in
gamefaqs have some grammatical errors and spelling errors. The
same applies to mine as well.

If you have read any game magazines like EGM, Gamepros, you will
notice some trends. First of all, the previews are usually
longer than the reviews and most, if not all, reviews are pretty
short and are usually less than 200 words. Secondly, the gameplay
is almost always about the same score as the graphics. Why?

Simple enough! Stiff competition! In order to remain competitive,
a game magazine must release as many latest news, reviews,
screenshots, previews on the latest game. Space and time are
two important factors. Reviews must be short so as to allow
more pages for other feature coverages. And, it's unfair if
one game review is extremely long and another one is too
short. And to release reviews on the latest games as soon
as possible, the reviewers can only judge on the graphics and
the few hours of time they have spent. Surely, you wouldn't
want to read a review about two or three months after the
game has come out, right? I understand that!

Like what Dingo Jellybean said in his Final Fantasy Anthology
faq, make the graphics the least important. I do understand
why Dingo Jellybean said in his Final Fantasy Anthology that
he hates reviews written by EGM, IGNPSX and so on BUT i do
understand why game magazines must have short reviews. And,
it doesn't mean that the reviewers at EGM aren't expert
reviewers. The choice of words, vocabulary used are
definitely better than most reviewers at gamefaqs.

And, when you review a very old game like Final Fantasy
Anthology or any other Nes, SNES system or even earlier
games, before you give a score on the graphics, think
whether which year the game was made. Why? Take Final
Fantasy Anthology as an example. Final Fantasy V was
made in 1992 and Final Fantasy VI was made in 1994.
Both games are pretty old and obviously turn paler in
comparison now than in those days. But do a serious
analysis! Both Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI
were made many years back. Were there any games that
could come close to these games in terms of graphics in
those days? If you think it this way, your review will
       be rather fair and unbiased.

Just some words of advice. Whenever you review a RPG game,
do not complain about the high enemy encounter rate. I hate
fools saying this. This shows their ignorant and tells
people that they have never played an RPG game before. Yeah,
walk about three to five steps and you will encounter some
random enemies... very fustrating like this.. makes the game
bored... blah... blah... blah. This is totally a load of craps.
If you think like this, then you are not fit to write a
review and NOT EVEN FIT to play any RPG. I mean, what's
wrong with high enemy encounter rate? Take a look at
traditional games like Final Fantasy V, VI or even other
game series like Breath of Fire, Lufia and so on. The
enemy encounter rates are much higher than most modern
games today like Final Fantasy VIII. People still play
those traditional RPGs in the past and even TODAY. Final
Fantasy Anthology is a perfect example. So, what's the
big deal here? Does that mean that RPGs in the past can
have high enemy encounter rate but not in modern games?
Do you mark the game down just because of that? This is
       totally unbiased and unfair.

So, talk about style of reviewing a game. Before that,
make sure you have played at least five hours on a
particular game or have completed it. Make some analysis
on the game and be clear with what you are going to say.
Now, back to the style of writing a review. I used to
break the my reviews into several parts like graphics,
music, sound, storyline, gameplay and so on. Later on,
i found that writing in this style, it's quite hard to
put down everything i want to say. [I am not sure about
you.] If you read my latest reviews like Thousand Arms,
Final Fantasy VIII and so on, i decided to break my
reviews into paragraphs and then write the scores such
as graphics, music, sound, gameplay and so on at the
end of my review. Each paragraph will have one main
idea, perhaps one will describe about the combat system,
one about the storyline and so on. I strongly believe
it's more effective this way, at least for me. I don't
know about you because i am not you.

Of course, if you are really interested in writing one
review, you can consult some Master Reviewers like Dingo
Jellybean or almost everyone on the top 20 reviewer
contribution page. Don't get dishearted if your first
review isn't ^. As you keep on writing game reviews, you
will get better and better. Who knows? Maybe, someone
working in a game magazine is interested in hiring you!
       Haha! Good luck, anyway!

    =======================================================================

31)What is/are your opinion(s) of what humaetorcH said in his
Thousand Arms? He gave Thousand Arms an overall score of
2 and criticised your Thousand Arms review.

Hmm... what can i say? It's rather strange that he didn't
mention the names of other reviewers who has also given
Thousand Arms a rather high average score but only me alone.
       Anyway, never mind!

Honestly, there are some parts that I do agree with him and
some parts that I strongly disagree with. He was the only
reviewer who gave Thousand Arms such a ridiculously low score
of 2. And to defend my own opinion, I decided to rewrite
my Thousand Arms review. The score still remains me as 8.
And, if you read my Thousand Arms review, the portion
towards the end are what i have just added. That includes
the 8 points which I have given to defend my opinion. Feel
free to read it! I wonder if he has read it yet!

There is one important note which I want to stress to whoever
is planning to write a RPG review. Don't be like humaetorcH!
What's wrong with high enemy encounter rate? I am simply
sick of such stupid reasonings given by those lazy gamers.

It's rather common to see some people disagree with your reviews.
I remembered Dingo Jellybean who gave Soul Calibur a ridiculously
low score of 2 whereas all the rest of the reviewers gave it a 9
or 10. I can't comment anything about the Dreamcast version of
Soul Calibur since I do not own a Dreamcast. I am sure each
reviewer has his own reasons for giving that score. The same
goes to humaetorcH too. I am not saying that he is entirely
wrong but... I just happen to disagree. Take Xenogears as
another example. There are some reviewers who kept complaining
about the poor control and long texts, and thus give Xenogears
a very low score. On the other hand, for those who seriously
enjoyed the storyline and the music [like me], you will find
them giving Xenogears a very high score such as a 9 or 10.
As for Final Fantasy VI, most give it a 10 but there are some
who gave it a 7 as they complaint that Final Fantasy VI is
too big and enemies are too many. I remembered I gave the first
Suikoden a 6, and then, I got several mails from the fans of
the first game who disagreed with me. I have to admit that i do
enjoy the first Suikoden, as it plays more like a traditional
RPG than today's modern games like Final Fantasy VIII. But, it
ruins the novel. The game was not anything like a novel and did
you know that Suikoden is a popular classic chinese novel. And,
do you really need so many warriors, as huge as 108?

Of all the reviews I have written so far, the most hardest to
write is Final Fantasy VIII. Final Fantasy series has changed
tremendously over the last few years. People were complimenting
and criticising Final Fantasy VIII. Just go to any message
board in gamefaqs that has to do with RPGs, PlayStation, SNES etc
and almost 75% will have something to do with Square and Final
Fantasy series. Some preferred the way Final Fantasy is in the
past and some welcome the change. And, my review nearly got
       influenced.

I really like Perdurabo's [Review by Recovered] Final Fantasy
VIII review. He is the only one so far who really convinced me
that Final Fantasy VIII is really good. After reading his
review, i did some serious thoughts. I ask myself. Why must
there be a draw system? What happens if the draw system is
being replaced by the traditional MP system? Will the Junction
system still work as well? He gave it a 10 for Final Fantasy
VIII. I didn't give that high. I have to admit Final Fantasy
VIII is good, but there seems to be more bad points than the
good points. So, i gave it a 7 instead but it doesn't mean that
Final Fantasy VIII is no good. And, if you read an interview
with Hironobu Sakaguchi, he mentions that the Final Fantasy
       series must change.

Anyway, Thousand Arms is still a great game. The animation
and voices are really excellent, and the game is really
in-depth. As long as you have substantial reasons to back
up your opinions, this is a good review.

    =======================================================================

32)So, can you recommend me some good reviewers whom i should
look up to as a guideline?

Sure. I guess all the reviewers who manage to get into the
top 20 reviewer contributions are good reviewers though i
haven't gotten the time to read everyone's reviews. And, if
you really want me to recommend some of the best reviewers
in the top 20 reviewer contribution, they will be GlucoseJoe,
Dingo Jellybean and SmCFadden. These reviewers are well known
for writing in-depth and informative reviews. Other reviewers
worth looking up for includes J-dog, Celestial Avenger,
Sunshine and so on. As for me, what do you think? [Yeah, must
       be modest!]

    =======================================================================

33)Since you have contributed a lot of faqs and reviews to gamefaqs,
do you prefer writing a faq or a review?

Obviously, it will be a review. Why? You do not really need to
spend time researching on moves, secrets although you need to be
familiar with the game. Besides, a review takes shorter time than
writing a faq and you don't need to update that often unlike faqs.
Lastly, your mailbox won't be jammed with countless mails, right?
Hey, after writing a faq, you still need to respond to their
questions, right? But, definitely not reviews, although you do get
feedbacks too. Of course, i am not saying that i don't enjoy. In
fact, i enjoy writing faqs and reviews because i want to contribute
some of my ideas to the gaming community.

    =======================================================================

34)Can i post any of your faqs or reviews in my website?

Sure you can if you want to. But, please send me a e-mail,
giving me your website URL, what the website is all about
and so on. Of course, you must give me credits and promise
that the contents will not be unaltered and you will check
out www.gamefaqs.com every month to check for any new
updates. But, this applies only to non-commercial webpage.
As for any commerical webpages or any publisher working in
a game magazine, he or she has to send me the e-mail first,
asking for permission. And, before he or she can publish
the informations, he or she must send me the final 'product'
and if i am happy with it, i will agree to his or her
request. Of course if anyone wants to convert my faq into HTML,
he or she must show me the final 'product' first. I guess
that's fair because you do not want all your hard work to be
taken by someone else and let him or her gain the credits and
not you. I hope you can understand that. Most importantly, be
sure to check for new updates. It's no use if the faqs are
       posted but not updated.

Note:If you don't receive my reply after a week, that means you
have not obtained my permission. I am restricting the number
of sites that are allowed to post my faqs. This is because
I realise that there have been a number of sites who has
either posted my faqs without my permission or have obtained
my permission but fail to fulfill the conditions i set. An
example is Gamesdomain who always fail to update the faq.

    =======================================================================

35)You mention that if anyone wants to put a faq in his site, he
must obtain your permission and give you credits, as well as
promise you to update everytime and not EDIT any of the content.
Why the heck do i see a similar Final Fantasy VIII Basic Guide
       in Kaze Yagami's website?

His is a special case and i have given Kaze Yagami the right to
edit anything he wishes. Kaze Yagami has helped me a lot in my
Final Fantasy VIII Basic Guide. A lot of information or almost
80% of the information you see here, regarding whether it is
about Crisis level, Boost, Compatibility and so on are kindly
contributed by Kaze Yagami. You can consider him as half of
the author here and that's why he has this special privilege.
       so, don't argue about it!

    =======================================================================

36)Can you send me your updated faq?

My most definite answer is no. If there's 1000 readers, do I always
have to my updated faq to 1000 people. It will be VERY troublesome
to me this way. Just go to www.gamefaqs.com and check if there's
any updates in the 'What's New' section. Or, you can go and check
       out my contributor page at:

       http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/1821.html

You can find all the faqs I have written, including reviews at
       my contributor page.

    =======================================================================

37)Can I ask you a question regarding games via ICQ?

In the past, I used to answer questions via ICQ. But now, I don't.
I find that it's quite annoying when I was replying e-mails but
the ICQ messages keep popping up and I have to answer so many
questions together. If you have any question, do not ask me through
the ICQ. E-mail me instead if you have any question.

One more thing. Do NOT add my ICQ number to your CONTACT list.
Though I put my ICQ number at every faq, I did not expect everyone
to add my ICQ number to his or her contact list. The thing is I
already have a lot of contacts in my ICQ list. Those ICQ numbers
which I added to my contact list, are those who are my CLASSMATES,
       and my PENPALS.

Even if you add my ICQ number to your contact list, I won't bother
to add your ICQ number to my contact list. First, I HARDLY know
you well so it's unlikely that I will chat with you via ICQ. I
might as well save the trouble of adding your ICQ number to my
contact list. Secondly, if you have any question regarding games,
you can e-mail me and ask me. ICQ will not be needed at all. I
       hope you can understand this.

    XIII)Wish List
    =======================================================================
After reading Rudy Hendrawan <goblic@hotmail.com>'s Metal Gear Solid
faq(Not integral), i decided to add in a wish list like what he has
did. His faq is a complete walkthrough, so if you need help on it,
please refer to his. Although the 300 VR training was a welcome
addition to integral, i was really hoping for more and more. I was
quite disappointed, but i couldn't deny that the VR training was
very fun. Perhaps konami could consider adding these ideas the
next time. Anyone say VR mission?

    VR Training
1)Ninja has only three levels, but don't you think it is too short.
At least, give us ten levels.
2)We have Solid Snake, Ninja, but how about an exclusive ten stages
       starring Meryl?
3)You can't use Stun Grenades, Chaff Grenades in the training discs.
4)How about adding a hostage mode where Snake has to rescue a
hostage within a given time, and the whole area is heavily guarded.
5)Instead of killing the guards, how about using weapons like Famas
       to knock off the guards?
6)How about using a knife and cut the throat of a guard, rather than
       having to strangle him?
7)You have seen the blue and red UFO targets. How about using other
targets like shooting a bottle etc.
8)The mystery, puzzle, variety are well-designed. How i wish there
are more! And, don't you think that the last stage of NG Selection
can be put in the mystery mode?
9)There are no wolves in the VR training. How about putting Snake in
an area where you can battle wolves.
10)In the story mode, you get to fight tanker, hind, and even Rex,
Metal Gear, but how about letting Solid Snake control these
vehicles in one of the VR Training?
11)Meryl can disguise as a soldier. How about Solid Snake?
12)Ninja can jump, but not Solid Snake.
13)How about mode, where you can control the villains also like
Liquid Snake, Sniper Wolf, Vulcan Raven, Revolver Ocelot, Psycho
Mantis etc? (Did anyone mention Decoy Octopus?) I will love to
control Psycho Mantis and see how to read into other people's
       minds. Haha!
14)If Solid Snake gets shot in the leg, how about seeing Snake
walking with a limp? That will be cool. Yeah, and seeing blood
keep on dripping on the blood. That will be more realistic.
15)What is the difference between Variety Level 12 and 13? How about
hiding in a maze where Solid Snake has to hide and kill those
gigantic Genome soldiers before they step onto you.
16)Coen van der Geest <CvanderGeest@kpd-groep.nl> suggests adding
the old missions from the MSX version, with enhanced 2-D graphics
and sounds, or convert the missions from 2-D MSX version to a 3-D
version that uses the same MGS engine for the VR Training.
=>Best if it has this feature:
How about letting gamers exercise their own creativity where there
is a mode, where gamers can design their own stages, position
guards and save to a memory card?

    Story Mode
1)I was hoping for a some slight changes to the game's story, perhaps
adding a new ending or a new mini-quest. One of a secret formula
to keep gamers playing is to add in more new secrets. Overall,
      this is very disappointing.
2)The first person view mode wasn't that cool as expected. Have you
seen the videos on the E3? The videos seem to look in a higher
resolution, and several shots are not found in the game. Perhaps,
not just the first-person view mode, when you complete the game a
second time, you can play in a hi-resolution mode like the one
seen in E3, and gamers can easily switch views between normal to
      first-person to hi-resolution mode.
3)The FMVs have too many blurry graphics. How i wish the animation
could have been much better? Remember Ocelot and Ninja at the
beginning of E3 videos. Yes, that sort of videos, if possible.
4)If there is a way to switch the briefing topic, and mission log
to English...and also can switch voice-actors, between English
      and Japanese.
5)After you have completed the game, you get a chance to view the
video again in the special mode, but you have to start all over
again from disc 1 onwards, don't you find it fustrating?
6)The first person view mode is a welcome addition, but not that
impressive at all. Besides, when in first person view mode, you
don't get a chance to see the weapons you hold in your hand. I
hope Konami will correct this minor flaw. Having to see the weapons
add more realistism to the game.
7)Hopefully, you can also change the briefing text, mission objectives
in the VR Disc to English.

    Photography Mode
-This is the greatest disappointment. Why waste two memory blocks to
take Naomi and Mei Ling's photo?
1)Not just Naomi, Mei Ling, what about Colonel, Otacon, Solid Snake,
Ninja, and the members of fox-hound? Can we take their photos too?
2)How about a group photos-the good ones with Solid Snake, Meryl,
Otacon, Colonel, Mei Ling, Naomi or the baddies, Liquid Snake,
Pyscho Mantis, Revolvor Ocelot, Sniper wolf, Vulcan Raven, Decoy
      Octopus etc?
3)Can we change the background of the scene? How about taking a photo
from a beach?(Mei Ling, Meryl and Naomi in swimsuit???Come on!)

    Complaint!!!
1)This is the one and only complaint i have about Metal Gear Solid.
It's strange. Because when i use the PSG1, aim at the leg, blood
come out of the soldiers' head instead of the leg. Can a shot of
PSG1 kill a person just like aiming at the leg?

2)The Al of Metal Gear Solid can be considered very advanced since
it's like never seen before. Enemies react to sight and sound.
However, there's one major flaw that makes the Al really look
retarded. Shoot the guard at the back of his head, without him
discover you, then hide, and he will go back to his patrol route.
Hmm, very considerable. But, wouldn't it be better if the wounded
soldier calls for help or send a research party?

Suggestions contributed by Scott Smith <s_smith1999@hotmail.com>
    -----------
1)He hopes to play through the game using Meryl and Ninja in the
story mode as the story unfolds from their perspectives, and not
      just little crappy VR Missions.

2)He hopes to see a boss mode in the VR Mission where you can fight
with the bosses or perhaps fight all at one go. It will be better
if we can control one of the bosses and kill Solid Snake. For
example, controlling Sniper wolf, riding a tanker or a hind using
      Vulcan Raven or Liquid Snake.

3)He hopes that the staff frequency, 140.07 can be changed to English.

4)Instead of having the useless first person view mode, how about
once you complete a certain stage or whatever, save your replay and
view in TOTAL FIRST PERSON VIEW MODE, and not like the useless
replay theater in the VR Training Disc. A view in first person
where you can also see your weapons.

That's all. If you think, you have very cool ideas that you think you
can improve the game, why not e-mail me, so i add it to the list.
Come on, this is just for fun, but we do hope that for the next MGS
sequel, we can even see more and more exciting concepts, right?
Konami staff, especially Hideo kojima, if you happen to look at this
faq, you will know what we want for the next Metal Gear Solid.
