"Love it or hate it."
Graphics : 9
Sound : 10
Gameplay : 4

Graphics : 9 >> It's beautiful. Period. Everything is rendered wondefully and the lighting is awesome. With all the hype leading up to this game's graphics, I think that id met the standards. Only downside is you're gonna need a pretty up to date PC. Bottom line : Go look at some screenshots.
Sound : 10 >> I think that the sound is incorporated greatly into the Doom world. More than the enviorments, the sound creeped me out WAY more. All the monsters have their noises they make and when everything's in dark corridors, you start getting freaked out. Doom 3 makes great use of surround sound, so be afraid. If you hear something behind you, get ready to do a jump 180degree spin to blast some baddies. I also liked the voice acting. In the beginning *minor spoiler* when all hell breaks loose, lots of people die. *end spoiler* And they don't go down quietly, they literally SCREAM into their comm, (which you can't turn off), so you're basically walking down a dark hallway with monsters creating their moans, demonic laughters that come from nowhere, and people dying on ur comm. SCARY.
Gameplay : 4 >> I think this would have gotten a higher score if not all the hype that's been built up to Doom. There were a couple things that I didn't like. Starting off with the darkness. EVERYTHING is so dark. Pitch black dark. You get this flash light, but the geniuses in the D3 world, couldnt create a damn gun that could attack a flashlight to it. This causes much time wasted in switching in between flashlight and gun. I'm sure the developers meant to do this, but it becomes more of a chore than anything else. I found myself just firing my gun off to see a glimpse of fire from my gun muzzle light up the room. Also, there's not too much of rag doll physics to play around with.
Once you kill a monster, that's it. No carcase violating like Soldier of Fortune styles. They hit the ground, and dissapear in a neon orange light after 2 seconds or so. (kinda like Blade) Hell demons basically just lunge at you till you die, and Marine zombies usually take cover behind a box. And that's it. Basically expect some encounters every corner you turn, or a door you open. Gameplay in general is pretty simple, go around gathering things to open doors.
Nothing spectacular. It's not too bad, but I expected something different from all the hype.
Replay : ? >> I honestly don't see myself finishing this game twice. And multiplayer supports up to 4 players per game. Really sucks. However it gets a "?" because of mods that could come out in the future. I think someone's developing a co-op mod, which will be kick ass.
Overall 6 >> Nothing too great here. If you're a Doom fan, or love the horror genre in game, I'm sure you'll find something to love in Doom3. Don't expect anything groundbreaking to the FPS genre though.
