Alright, if your talking about a pet, then you must be a level 10 hunter. This is the only class that can tame wield beasts and use them to your advantage in combat. Why level 10? Because that's when you can go to your trainer and pick up the 'tame beast' skill. These pets are called combat pets.

Now, it seems to me you want something to ride on, like a mount. Each race has a mount that is specified to their race.

Human - Horse
Dwarf - Ram
Gnome - Mechanic Farstrider (not sure on the spelling on this one)
Dranei - Elekk
Night Elf - Tiger
----------------------------------
Ork - Wolf
Tauren - Kodo
Blood Elf - Farstrider (spelling again)
Undead - Skeletal Horse
Troll - Raptor

At level 30, and only at level 30 you can pick up your races mount and training. These are pricey. Later on in the game when you get exulted when other factions and races, you can go and pick up their mounts, again for a fee. But not the training fee, you already picked that up when you purchased your first mount.

Mounts are ride able and they increase your speed depending on your mount and items equipped on your character. Once you reach level 30 you can then go to you mount seller and mount trainer and pick everything up. To answer your question, well I just did.

Since these are pricey, you'll need gold. The only way that I can think of for making pure profit are gathering profs, or professions. Pick two of these up, like skinning and mining, and skin and mine until you have huge stacks of mats then sell then in the auction house for pure profit. Once finished, you should have enough gold to buy your mount and mount training.

Hope this helped you out some. If you have any questions your can contact me via email.
