"More than an expansion pack unlike popular belief"

Introduction: First of all, this is more than an expansion pack. Better graphics, completely new layout, countless new rides, five ''Six Flag'' scenarios, smarter guests (they don't get lost on double paths) and more make this game a great sequel. However, to get the most out of this game, you will have to explore it a lot and discover what the game has to offer.

Gameplay: 9/10

Again, Chris Sawyer's idea of building and maintaining your own amusement park just doesn't get old. The skies the limit when building coasters, and with the new ''scenery stacking'' option, you can go crazy decorating your rides by suspending walls, roofs, and themes in the air surrounding your coaster. Just hold shift, click and hold the cursor to place your scenery and move the cursor up and down to raise and lower the scenery in the air. Its a great touch.

Another nice little addition is Roller Coaster builder. It is a mode of play where all you do is choose your type of coaster you want to build, and with no money restrictions you can construct your dream coaster. However, when you save it and want to build it in your real park, the expenses of the coaster are there just the same. Too bad.

For newcomers, there are a few tutorials to get you started, including a Beginners Tutorial and a Custom Ride building tutorial. The scenarios are labeled from Beginner to Expert so you can decide what level of difficulty you want to take on. There is also a Create-Your-Own-Scenario option, which adds a lot of replay value.

Countless hours of fun is packed into this game. There are enough new features to make the gameplay feel new. With new shops like a First Aid station and an ATM machine, its hard to remember what the old Roller Coaster Tycoon was like. the gameplay is simply excellent.

Sound: 8/10

The sound is quite good. Just listening to the chatter of the crowds and the screams of the thrill seekers make it all seem believable. A nice feature that was also in Loopy Landscapes allow you to put in your own ride music for, well, the rides. Chris Sawyer gives you a tutorial in the RCT2 folder on how to do this. There is a wide range of ride music to choose from otherwise, all pretty catchy. The smooth sound of roller coaster running down steel track sounds really cool, and the ''cha-chings'' that go off whenever you gain money are kind of odd, and they get kind of annoying at time. However, its not a big deal, and its nothing to worry about.

Presentation: 8/10

Its really nice to see how realistic everything is. Its impossible to make an incredible inverting, gut wrenching, vomit-inducing roller coaster without the consequences of nobody riding it. All of the rides are rated for Excitement, Intensity, and Nausea. The more excitement the better, but if your intensity and/or nausea ratings are over 10.00, don't expect anyone to pay to go on it. If you have a huge excitement rating though, people will still go on your ride and pay big money for it too. However, this isn't confirmed. I haven't had any problems with excitement ratings over 10.00 before and haven't had a problem with them yet.

The Six Flags parks Chris Sawyer made are excellent -- they are very accurate from what my sources say. The parks are nice additions to the scenarios, and you can even play in them and try to reach a goal for the Six Flags park of your choice. There are five in all: Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags over Texas, Six Flags Holland, Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Belgium.

Graphics: 8/10

The graphics engine is the same, but the graphics are improved. More detail in scenery, rides, and people are all apparent. It seems to have a faster frame rate too.

Replay Value: 10/10

You could play this game for a very long time. With the Scenario Editor, you can challenge yourself to whatever your skill level is. There are many scenarios (not quite as many as the other games offered) and they seem to have much more effort and time put into them. The scenarios end up different every time, no matter how many times you play them. There are many strategies for beating a scenario, there is no one way to beat it. The game is replay value, and this should last you a good long time.
