This guide is intended to help players complete the various Checkpoint Races
and Time Trials throughout Grand Theft Auto Vice City. These races or time
trials can be done by getting into a certain vehicle within the City.
These missions are considered as a "side mission", and are not included
within the main storylines of the game, they must be completed in order to
attain 100% game completion.

The guide is split into 4 sections:
- vehicle Checkpoint Race
- RC vehicle Race
- Street Race
- Heli Checkpoint Race

Within these missions, the following rare vehicles can be obtained:
- Black Sanchez Motobike
- Black Rancher 4x4
- Flame proof Banshee
- Flame proof Cheetah
- Flame proof Infernus
- Sparrow Helicopter

This guide was done and tested before the re-release of GTA3 and Vice City
on the XBOX.

This guide was done with the PC version of Grand Theft Auto Vice City.
Therefore there is minor differences with this guide and that if it were
written with the PS2 version of the game. The first difference is the
controls, in my opinion the PS2 game pad is better for driving vehicles and
riding motorbikes through these missions, but the PC Keyboard is more
suitable for the Helicopter and RC Plane missions.

The other difference is the mission "Trial by Dirt". If you read the
mission overview, you will see that each time you complete the race and
beat a previous time, there is a difference with the race. (Red barrels
apear, it rains and Haitians chase you on Sanchez bikes) However on the PS2
version of the game, this does not happen as all three obsticles, happen
from the very first time you try the mission.

"Trial by Dirt" and "Test Track" are a combination, for example you can do
"Trail by Dirt" 3 times and on the 3rd time of completion get $300, but
when you do "Test Track" for the first time you'll get $400, instead of
$100 as you've already done "Trial by Dirt" 3 times already. Both of these
races must be done to gain 100%, as both of them together give you 1% on
the overall status. In the status menu the times of these 2 races will be
the same (the best time) i don't know why this is, but it happens on the PC
aswell as the PS2.

There are 4 vehicles in Vice City that activate checkpoint missions that you
generally do in that vehicle. 2 in West Vice City and 2 in East Vice City.

PCJ Playground
ŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻŻ
Location:    Vice Point
Available:   From the begining of the game
Time Limit:  120 Seconds
vehicle:     PCJ 600
Reward:      $1000
Checkpoints: 24
Type:        Pass all checkpoints within the timelimit
Difficulty:  Hard
How To Find: From the Ocean View Hotel head North, when the road bends West,
continue North onto the grass just after the first lamp post, below the
Standing Vice Point hotel tucked away in the corner is the PCJ 600 used in
this mission.

Mission Overview:
Once you've found the PCJ in question a mission name will show and an
explaination of the mission will come up. This mission is relativly straight
forward, you can afford to fall off the bike however it makes the final few
checkpoints more critical as you will have less time to do them in. The
mission will take a few atempts but the final two checkpoints make this
harder than it looks to start out. Once you get good enough not to fall off
the bike time shouldn't really be much of a problem. As the timer doesn't
start until you pass through the first checkpoint have a look where they all
are if you need to as they all show up from the start as there is no
particular order to do them in, however i advise you to follow the
walkthrough as it is the best solution. If you do fall off or destroy the
PCJ you are given you can simply jump on another one within the timelimit.

Walkthrough:
From where you start head North to get a decent run up for the first
checkpoint, head South down the edge of the grass towards the ramp up onto
the building and get the first checkpoint you need to go fairly quick but
not hugely fast. Checkpoint 2 is on the roof of the building, be careful
not to fall off the building too soon. Drop back in the alleyway heading
South and drive straight up the steps in front of you to grab checkpoint 3.
You shouldn't need too much speed to get Checkpoint 3 as your not trying to
get onto the roof of the building opposite, instead continue South down the
alleyway and collect Checkpoint 4 and Checkpoint 5 directly infront of you,
it's crucial you dont fall off as you need to build up enough speed to make
it up the next set of steps to get Checkpoint 6 and land on the roof of the
building.

Once you've landed brake hard but try not to loose the bike, collect
Checkpoint 7 on the roof of the building and drop back into the alleyway
without falling off. Collect Checkpoint 8 which is close by and continue on
to get Checkpoint 9 and 10. Checkpoint 11 is above the road heading
West/East so you need to launch off the wooden boards to get sufficient
height over the truck that will cross your path. Land back in the alleyway
and head to Checkpoint 12. Slow down before collecting it as another Truck
will cross and get in the way, wait until it's past you and head South to
Checkpoint 13. Drive to the end of the alleyway and collect Checkpoint 14,
you need to make sure your not going too quick otherwise you'll fall.
Checkpoint 15 is across the road and in the opening of a small alleyway
heading South.

Continue down that alleyway and collect Checkpoint 16 but be careful of
the posts that are in the way. Once you collect Checkpoint 16 turn West in
between 2 buildings to collect Checkpoint 17. Head Slightly North once you
cross the road and collect Checkpoint 18 which will need a slight increase
in speed, then drop down into the underpass and slow down to grab Checkpoint
19 which is close to a large post. You then need to use the steps heading
West in front of you to launch up to collect Checkpoint 20, then continue
North up the road. Checkpoint 21 is just before the corner of the next
junction to the Left/West on the sidewalk/pavement.

The next 3 can be done in two ways, (firstly the way it was designed to be
done) continue down the road you just turned left into and immedietly turn
left into the entrance of the carpark, to get Checkpoint 22. Tricky as it
sounds maintain reasonably high speed and ramp up the steps to the South
but turn slightly to the right. You should collect Checkpoint 23 and land
on the Pay N Spray, you can then control the bike and either back up for a
run up or continue on if you think you can make it to the white building
with the pink roof to the south, where the Final Checkpoint, Checkpoint 24
is. The other method is perhaps easier for the beginner, after collecting
Checkpoint 21 turn left and then turn right, going North up an alleyway.
Once at the end get a decent ammount of speed and head South to get
Checkpoint 22, the object here is to collect Checkpoint 22, use the steps
to the South to get Checkpoint 23, but using the high speed clear the
Pay N Spray and land on the pink roof to get Checkpoint 24.

Cone Crazy

Location:    Ocean Beach Multistory Car Park
Available:   From the begining of the game
Time Limit:  11 seconds for each Checkpoint
vehicle:     Stallion
Reward:      $200
Checkpoints: 5
Type:        Pass all checkpoints within the timelimit without smashing
             any cones
Difficulty:  Medium
How To Find: From the Ocean View Hotel Head South and turn Right/West and
then Right/North, so you are behind the hotel. You will see Collar & Cuffs
clothes shop on the Left along with the entrance to the multistory car park.
The car is at the top level and is parked facing South at the North end.

Mission Overview:
Firstly the car which sometimes doesn't always appear has a different
coloured roof to the body (if it has a roof). It's not the best of handling
cars in the game but it's not like you use it for long. You simply have to
pass through each Checkpoint in no particular order within the timelimit
without smashing the cones, if you smash any cones or get out of the car
or destroy it you will fail. The timelimit starts when you get the first
Checkpoint and you get 11 seconds for each Checkpoint you pass through.
The walkthrough is the best way I found for doing this mission.

Walkthrough:
First of all this mission is extremly hard to explain without the use of
pictures, so i've used my ASCII skills to put the layout of the cones and
Checkpoints into perspective. Once in the vehicle the mission information
should run through, as the timer doesn't start until you collect the first
Checkpoint, use the time to study the layout if you need to. The first 2
Checkpoints are critical, since you only get 11 seconds from each
Checkpoint, so position yourself between the four cones next to Checkpoint
1, the idea is you want to reverse into Checkpoint 1 and then drive
straight forward into Checkpoint 2. Then reverse back and position
yourself with Checkpoint 3, dont go too fast or you'll smash the cone on
the raised area. There is enough room to drive up the ramp and round to
Checkpoint 4 without falling off the raised area. Grab Checkpoint 4 and
drive between the parked cars, drive slowly round the cones and collect
Checkpoint 5 to complete the mission.

Checkpoints: 38
Type:        Complete 2 laps of the track, collecting all the Checkpoints
Difficulty:  Medium
How To Find: Coming into Downtown from Prawn Island over the bridge, go past
Ammu-Nation and at the end of the road turn right. Go past the Hyman Condo
and take next right, then turn right again heading south. Follow the road
round the bend to the left and head East until you get to the Degenertron
sign that overhangs the road turn left down a path, the dirt track is on the
left behind the building.

Mission Overview:
This mission may well sound simple, and if your any good at driving it is.
This is timed rather than a race against the clock. This is only difficult
because the Landstalker rolls really really easily. Simply complete 2 laps
of the track without bailing to pass, Checkpoint locations are in the
walkthrough. If you feel you are going to roll then turn into the roll and
you should be able to correct it. After you complete this once, at a time
for example of 3 minuites, you will gain a reward of $100, if you do the
race again you will notice there are 4 red barrels placed between
Checkpoints 2/21 and 3/22. As long as you don't run directly over them
they should cause no problems. If you complete it a second time with a
time of, for example 2 mins 50, your reward will be $200. If you continue
to race a third and fourth time and you beat your previous time your
reward will continually increase with every time you beat your previous
best. When you come round to attempt this mission a fourth time, you will
see a security guard armed with a Nightstick driving a Black Rancher, he
will chase you and kill you if he gets the chance.

Walkthrough:
Drive Forward and approach checkpoint 1.
1/20 Collect this just before the bend, and carry on forward to number
2/21. Continue on round the bend and collect
3/22, this next one has high rolling potential, so take it easy.
4/23. The next is at the base of a set of doubles, slowly ease up them.
5/24. Try not to go on the grass here as you can roll too easily.
6/25 this one is close to an incline again, go round the corner easily.
7/26 Head down the slope to get the next one
8/27 then continue on, this one is on the hairpin.

9/28 Again on the hairpin, but with another incline on the outside.
10/29 is on a hairpin but it shouldn't be to hard to roll here.
11/30 Sometimes there is a rain warning when you collect this one.
12/31 Continue round the series of hairpins, slowing for the inclines.
13/32 has a steep inner corner banking so be careful not to clip it.
14/33 also has a smaller but hazardous banking on the inside.
15/34 now head slightly up hill and collect this, the next one is on the
16/35 final hairpin. Head up to get it but be careful of the bank in front
17/36 of you when you collect this one.
18/37 this is in a slight ditch so don't climb any of the bankings on either
19/38 side, drive up the hill and collect the final one of the lap.

Difficulty:  Easy
How To Find: Coming into Downtown from Prawn Island over the bridge, go past

Again this is a timed mission, i would advise you to read the Mission
Overview for the Test Track. You have to complete 2 laps of the track and
collect all the checkpoints, but as oposed to the Test Track you will go
round the track clockwise. As similar to the Test Track your reward will
increase each time you do the race and beat your previous time. Each time
you do the race there will be some kind of obsticle to bare in mind. The
first time you race this you will simply set a time and get the reward. If
you fall off the bike you have 15 seconds to get back on, and it doesnt
even have to be the same bike. The second time you race it, you must beat
your previous time to complete, but there will be some barrels between
Checkpoints 17/36 and 18/37. If you complete it a second time and atempt
it a third time chances are when you get to Checkpoint 9/28 it will start
to rain. Again if you complete it and atempt the mission a fourth time
there will be 3 Haitians on Black Sanchez bikes, armed with Machetes,
chasing you round the course.

Mission Walkthrough:
1/20 Head forward and up the slope to get this Checkpoint,
2/21 turn slightly and get this Checkpoint, and continue round the bend.
3/22 Collect this Checkpoint at the start of the hairpin and head down
4/23 the hill to collect this one.
5/24 Turn left and then right to collect this Checkpoint, and head on
6/25 to the next haipin where this Checkpoint is.
7/26 Use the brake and ease round the bend where this Checkpoint is.

8/27 Don't use the inside corner too much when you get this one,
9/28 continue round and get this Checkpoint, sometimes it might rain
10/29 here. Collect this one and contiune on into the S bend to
11/30 get this Checkpoint. It opens up a little, but turn left into
12/31 the next hairpin, to get this Checkpoint, and turn right a little
13/32 to get this one.
14/33 Head up the small hill and grab the Checkpoint on the hairpin at the
15/34 top before coming down again. Be careful of the jumps here.
16/35 Turn into the hairpin and get this Checkpoint, continue on to the
17/36 final bend, collect this one but becareful of the barrels, if they
18/37 are there. Get this Checkpoint and drive forward to the next one,
19/38 this is back at the start.

Vice City. They activate 3 individual missions using 3 different RC Toys, a
Bandit (Car), Baron (Plane) and a Raider (Helicopter).

RC Baron

Location:    North Point Mall Mutlistorey Car Park in Vice Point
Available:   From the begining of the game
Time Limit:  None, Timed race
vehicle:     Top Fun Van/RC Baron, plane
Reward:      $100
Checkpoints: 28
Type:        Race through East Vice City collecting Checkpoints, vs 3 others
Difficulty:  Hard
How To Find: From Ocean View Hotel head North until you get to the Malibu.
Go past that and continue North until the road bears Left/West, follow it
round until your heading South, you will see the Mall and a Car park on your
left, enter the car park and go to the very top level. The Top Fun Van is
on the North end of the Car Park facing South.

Mission Overview:
You have to fly arround East Vice City collecting the 28 Checkpoints faster
than the 3 opponents your racing against. Once you've learnt the controls
this really isn't too hard, the only problem is hitting things. As you take
a few atempts to try this, as you wont do it first time, you will realise
that the other planes you race are a slower than you. Therefore if you do
get far enough ahead you can afford maybe to make one mistake. Bare in
mind that you don't have to fly through the dead centre of each Checkpoint
for it to count. It is also vital to use the map to work out wheather or
not the next Checkpoint is higher or lower than your height. Use these
points and after 3 or 4 trys it shouldn't be too hard. You must win the
race to complete this mission.

Walkthrough:
After you get in the Van and the information has come up, a count down from
3 will start. Head straight forward and into Checkpoint 1, then climb over
the wall and head forward to Checkpoint 2, drop a little and stay above the
bridge to the South and collect Checkpoint 3. Follow the road and bare to
the right a little and collect Checkpoint 4. Checkpoint 5 is on the sharp
corner, collect it and then imedietly turn left and head over the water a
little, be careful not to hit any of the trees. You'll want to get
Checkpoint 6 at an angle where it's easy to head south. Stay high so you
don't hit any buildings.

Checkpoint 7 is next to the Pay N Spray. Ideally stay above all the Street
lights and dive into the next 2 Checkpoints. Head past Leaf Links View and
dive slightly to get Checkpoint 8. Checkpoint 9 is at the T junction at the
end of the street simply fly through it and head South over the buildings.
Checkpoint 10 is slightly before and above Well Stacked Pizza Co. get it
turn right over the bridge and towards Checkpoint 11, then turn left.
Again stay clear of the trees and above the street lights. Head down the
street and collect Checkpoint 12 just before the junction, continue going
South down the road and get Checkpoint 13 just after the Contruction Yard.

Continue past that and get Checkpoint 14 which is just before the junction.
Checkpoint 15 is just past "Bunch Of Tools" grab it and the slowly dive to
collect Checkpoint 16 which is literally on the bridge, try not to hit the
road when you get it. Carry on South along the same road and get Checkpoint
17 which is just past the junction and Checkpoint 18 which is outside Ken
Rosenburg's office. Checkpoint 19 is just before the Washington Mall and
Checkpoint 20 is on the junction that leads over the water to Vice Port
Docks. Bare left over the Hospital Car park where you will see Checkpoint
21 carry on behind the Hospital and over the hill between the Advertisment
and the white building where Checkpoint 22 is.

This next section is reasonably difficult as most of the Checkpoints are
about the same height as the road lights, and there is trees either side
of the road and in the middle. Go under an Advertisment board and dive a
little to get Checkpoint 23 which is next to the Marina. Continue on and
get Checkpoint 24 which is just after a junction. Bare slowly to the left
trying not to hit anything and get Checkpoint which is just after the
green building on the left, next is Checkpoint 26 which is on a junction,
dont turn but follow the road as it continues to bend to the left.
Checkpoint 27 is outside a building called Maison Wenifall, head round
the corner and collect Checkpoint 28 which is the final one as it's
purple.

RC Bandit

Location:    The beach in Vice Point
Available:   From the begining of the game
Time Limit:  None, Timed race
vehicle:     Top Fun Van/RC Bandit, car
Reward:      $100
Checkpoints: 50
Type:        Do 2 laps of a track collecting Checkpoints, vs 3 others
Difficulty:  Medium
How To Find: From the Ocean View Hotel head North until you get to the
Malibu club. Continue heading North along the beach front road and stop at
the 6th junction past the Malibu club. You should see on the right hand side
of the road a large white unamed hotel. The Track is behind this hotel.

Mission Overview:
The Top Fun Van is on the South side of the Track, facing North.
The Track you will do the mission on isn't really that big, the reason there
is so many Checkpoints is that they are so close together. There are 2 laps,
25 Checkpoints on each lap and each Checkpoint is in the same place. The
Track itself isnt too hard and you rarely need to use the brakes, just stay
clear of the bankings and the boulders that get in the way and you shouldn't
have any problem. The opponents you race are however reasonably quick and
will always be close behind, so in my opinion more than one mistake and it
may cost you the race. You must win the race to complete this Mission.

Walkthrough:
1/26 Head forward to collect this Checkpoint and then slightly up a hill, to
2/27 collect this Checkpoint. Turn slightly to the right and down a little,
2/28 avoid the banking to the left and continue right, grab this and head to
4/29 the hairpin to get this Checkpoint, go left round the hairpin and up a
5/30 little and collect this one in the open area. Build up speed here
6/31 while collecting this one and head up the hill in front of you.

7/32 Grab this Checkpoint at the top of the hill and turn slightly right,
8/33 avoiding the banking to get this one. Build up speed and head for the
9/34 next one, this area is nice and wide so you need to floor it. Try not
10/35 to turn too much here as there is slight bumps in the sand. Collect
11/36 this one on the left hand turn and head forward to collect the next
12/37 Checkpoint here in the next left 90 degree turn. Grab this next one on
13/38 the small straight which is number 13/38 and head into the right turn.

14/39 Collect this one on the right turn, but be careful because the banking
15/40 is very tight. Collect this one on the small straight and head to the
16/41 next slight right turn where this one is. Head out of this turn and
17/42 into the slight S bend where this Checkpoint is. Carry on round the
18/43 left bend and collect this Checkpoint but be careful as there is bumps
19/44 here, head slightly up and to the right to get this one. Drop down and
20/45 right to get this one but the sand is slightly angled here so use
21/46 caution. Get this one but don't touch the boulder it's next to, into
22/47 the long left hand bend round the big pointed rock and collect this,
23/48 and this Checkpoint. It opens out a little here and becomes slightly
24/49 straight simply head forward, avoiding the banking at either side and
25/50 collect this Checkpoint on the Start/Finish line.

How To Find: From the Ocean Beach to Vice Port Bridge, coming into Vice Port
turn left and then first right. Then take the 3rd left into the Freight and
Cargo Terminal, at the end of the road stop and enter the car park to the
right. Imedietly on your left you will see the Top Fun Van, parked facing
North.

Mission Overview:
This mission is only slightly difficult because of the over sensitive
controls of the Raider. It is quite tricky to turn and very easy to flip.
So learn the controls and get a feel for it. As this is not against the
clock (it's timed instead) it means it's a lot easier than it could be.
Once you've gotten used to the Helicopter you should start. Only thing to
worry about is not to destroy the Raider, it's quite tough but there's
nothing worse than getting like 18 or 19 Checkpoints and then destroying it.

Mission Walkthrough:
Fly up and to the South, over the awning Checkpoint 1 is above some large
cargo crates. Now head slightly West and drop to the level of the helipad,
dont drop too low, collect Checkpoint 2. Fly South-West between the 2
Learjets and drop down to the level of the runway where Checkpoint 3 is.
Continue in that same general direction towards the radar tower. Collect
Checkpoint 4 above the roof of the radar building, be careful not to hit
the building. Head slightly a little more South, over the 2 runways and
head for the 3 "Hazard Ramps?", Checkpoint 5 is between the first one and
the second one you come across be careful not to hit the sides of them.

Now gain some altitude and fly over the first hangar to the North and
collect Checkpoint 6 which is above the second hangar. Head North-East and
over to the set of 3 "Hazard Ramps?", Checkpoint 7 is between the first one
and the second one you come to. This next one is very tricky, head slightly
West over the runway towards the hangar with the large passenger jet in.
Checkpoint 8 is under this plane, level with the wings. Exit the hangar and
head North, Checkpoint 9 is between the last hangar to the North and the
Southern facing wall of the fire station, again it's a little tricky as
it's so close to the ground and it's tight between the two buildings. Now
gain some altitude and climb right over the fire station, Checkpoint 10 is
above the radio tower on top of the fire station.

Head East again over the first runway and towards the second. Drop down as
Checkpoint 11 is at the base of the huge runway buffer. Go slightly North
towards the fence next to the road and collect Checkpoint 12 which is at
the base of some mobile plane steps. Now go South and towards the terminal
gate walkway, Checkpoint 13 is under the walkway. Head North again and
follow the walkway back towards the terminal. This one is a little tricky,
Checkpoint 14 is situated above the walkway but under the terminal awning
and up against the wall. Fly East and towards the other terminal gate
walkway, Checkpoint 15 is under the walkway just South of the first support
pillar.

For this final section Head North round the terminal and out towards the
grassy area in the middle of the roadways. Head over towards the huge surf
sign. Checkpoint 16 is a little tricky aswell it's behind the surfer, at
the top of the ramp. Now again head South into the airport grounds and over
to the most North-Eastly hangar. Checkpoint 17 is above this hangar.
Continue going South back towards the start until you get to the end of the
runway, Checkpoint 18 is behind the base of the runway buffer. Carry on
going South over the runway and towards Checkpoint 19, which is above the
hangar just past the runway. Checkpoint 20, the final Checkpoint, is over
towards the awning at the start near Checkpoint 1. Fly over the awning and
drop down when you get to the Sourthern facing edge of the awning.
Checkpoint 20 is between a red and blue cargo crate at ground level.

The 6 Street races are available via "Sunshine Autos" which you must
purchase, you can only purchase "Sunshine Autos" once you've completed the
mission "Shakedown". "Sunshine Autos" costs $50,000 and is located on the
border between Little Havana and Vice Port.

To find it, coming into West Vice City from the Ocean Beach/Washington Beach
bridge, come into Vice port and turn left coming off the bridge, take first
right and first right again, heading North. "Sunshine Autos" is on the
right hand side of the road just past a huge bill board.

There are 6 street races of various size, as they vary in size the prize
money you can win varys too. The races are timed but the object is to pass
through all the Checkpoints before the 3 other races your racing against do.
Once you've bought "Sunshine Autos" you need to go down the ramp and to the
garage area where there is a map of the City, the pink marker allows you to
choose the race you want to do. I strongly advise you to complete the
vehicles wanted lists next to the Western Garage. This will allow you to
get 4 secret cars 3 of which can be used to win the street races. (Hotring
Racer, Deluxo and the Sabre Turbo) I recommend using the Hotring Racer for
all the races, as it combines, high speed, durability and good handling.

The races themselves arent too hard, the do vary slightly in difficulty,
but the general rule is as long as you get a decent start, dont destroy the
vehicle your in (as you could loose serious time) and try not to crash too
much they really shouldn't be any problem to complete. Theorectically you
could use any old vehicle to do the races, as the opponents can crash so
much that it leaves you to walk it with ease, however the same race can be
different each time you try. I would advise you to not use a bike as the
risk off falling off is too high, that it may cost you the race.

Out of Sunshine Autos go left, then first right. Follow the road until you
come to the airport terminal.

Walkthrough:
Once you park in the pink marker the timer will kick in, drive forward and
through Checkpoint 1 and Checkpoint 2, then turn left and collect
Checkpoint 3. Checkpoint 4 is on the junction ahead, carry on going North
and collect Checkpoint 5 on the left bend. Checkpoint 6 is on the long
straigt grab it and go past the junction and get Checkpoint 7. Carry on
along this road going West and collect Checkpoints 8, 9 and 10 avoiding any
traffic. Turn left at the end and get Checkpoint 11, then do a U turn at
the top of the hill and get Checkpoint 12, you should now be heading North.
Collect Checkpoint 13 on the short straight and Checkpoint 14 on the right
turn. Be careful not to hit the pillars of the aiport terminal to the left.

Grab Checkpoint 15 before following the road round to the right, get
Checkpoint 16 here and be careful not to fall off the road, continue
heading South get Checkpoint 17 and head towards the major airport terminal
collect Checkpoint 18 on the Cross roads junction and Checkpoint 19 on the
left turn. Turn left and collect Checkpoint 20 and then turn right, collect
Checkpoint 21 next to the airport terminal and follow the road round, get
Checkpoint 22 and turn right to get Checkpoint 23 the final Checkpoint.

take a left and then left again. At the T juntion heading towards Vice Port

Brigde into East Vice City. Follow the road over a small hump bridge, and
turn right just past "Bunch Of Tools" go over another small hump brige and
turn left, past the police station. You will see the start position up
ahead.

Walkthrough:
Get to the start and wait for the countdown. Drive forward collect
Checkpoint 1 and follow the road round to the right, collect Checkpoints 2,
3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 along the long road, avoid any traffic you
come across. Slow down and follow the road to the right and grab Checkpoint
12, then turn right at the junction and get Checkpoint 13 continue on past
Pole Position and collect Checkpoints 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22
and 23, these can be a little trickier as the road is slightly narrower.
Checkpoint 24 is on the large junction near the start, get it and turn
right and get the final Checkpoint, Checkpoint 25.

Checkpoint 2. Then turn left at the junction and get Checkpoint 3, carry
on and take the next left to get Checkpoint 4. Get Checkpoint 5 and follow
the road round to get Checkpoint 6 and 7. Go past the laundromat on the left
and follow the road round to the right. Then take first left and grab
Checkpoint 8, continue heading North and collect Checkpoint 9 and 10. Take
a left at the junction and get Checkpoint 11, then get Checkpoint 12, 13
and 14, which is next to Kaufman cabs. Continue heading North and get
Checkpoint 15, then follow the road round to the right and collect
Checkpoint 16 and 17. Then turn right at the end of the road and collect
Checkpoint 18.

Continue heading South and get Checkpoint 19, then, turn right just past
the bridge and grab Checkpoint 20. Then follow the road to get Checkpoint
21 on the left hand bend, continue to follow the road and get Checkpoint 22.
Turn left and get Checkpoint 23 at the end of the road, then turn right
back onto the main highway and get Checkpoints 24, 25, and 26, then take
another right between the police station and the donut shop to get
Checkpoint 27. Head straight on into Checkpoint 28 to complete the race.

Drive straight forward and collect Checkpoints 1, 2, 3 and 4 which is at the
junction just over the hump bridge. Continue on and follow the road to get
Checkpoints 5, 6 and 7, then turn left at the junction before the bridge.
Collect Checkpoints 8 and 9 then turn right and follow that road round
grabbing Checkpoints 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18. Making sure you
avoid the trees and traffic as you go. Once you collect Checkpoint 18 turn
left and get Checkpoint 19. Continue along that road heading North and
collect Checkpoints 20 through 40, follow the road in that genral direction
until Checkpoint 40 where you must turn left where well stacked pizza co.
is. Collect Checkpoint 41, and straight ahead for Checkpoint 42, go over
the bridge get Checkpoint 43 then turn left. Grab Checkpoint 44, continue
along that road and get Checkpoint 45, 46 and the final Checkpoint,

Checkpoints 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. Go ahead at the junction and
follow the road North. Get Checkpoints 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17 which is on the
hump bridge. Carry on heading North collecing Checkpoints 18, 19, 20, 21,
22, 23 and 24. Turn right and head over the bridge, collect Checkpoint 25
and turn left just past well stacked pizza co. Get Checkpoints 26 and 27
then turn left at the end to collect Checkpoint 28.

Take the first right and get Checkpoint 29 continue on get Checkpoint 30,
go past the Pay N Spray and get Checkpoints 31, 32 and 33. Turn left and
get Checkpoint 34. Follow the road round the hotel, get Checkpoints 35, 36,
37, 38, 39 and 40. Go under the bridge and get Checkpoint 41, the follow
this road North, until it goes round the top of the island and back South,
collecting Checkpoints 42 - 55 as you go, avoid any traffic and turn right
to get Checkpoint 56. Take first right again and get Checkpoint 57, then
head North folling the road and get Checkpoints 58, 59, 60 and 61.
Checkpoint 62 is on the bridge to Prawn Island, get Checkpoint 63 and take
first left at Prawn Island and follow this road back round North, avoid
on coming vehicles and collect Checkpoints 64, 65, 66 and 67. Go straight on
at the junction and grab Checkpoints 68 and 69, turn right and get
Checkpoint 70.

Go over the brige into Downtown and grab Checkpoints 71 - 78. Then turn
left at the end to get Checkpoint 79, follow this road South and then East
collecting Checkpoints 80, 81, 83 and 84 as you go. Turn left heading
South again and get Checkpoints 85 - 90 and turn right into Little Haiti,
collect Checkpoint 91, 92, 93 and 94, follow the road round to the South.
Grab Checkpoint 95 and go past Kaufman cabs still heading South and get
Checkpoint 96. Get Checkpoint 97 then turn right and get Checkpoint 98,
follow the road round to the South and get Checkpoints 99, 100 and 101.
Turn right at the end and get Checkpoint 102 and continue into Little
Havana get Checkpoints 103 and 104, before turning right to get Checkpoint
105. Take next left and get Checkpoint 106, then turn right and get
Checkpoint 107. Now take another right heading West get Checkpoints 108 and

There are 4 Sparrow Helicopters parked in Vice City, 1 in Ocean Beach, 1 in
Vice Point, 1 in Downtown and 1 in Little Haiti. These missions are easy,
as they are timed as opposed to against the clock. If you destroy or get
out of the Sparrow Helicopter you will fail the mission. All you need to do
is use the Sparrow to collect all the Checkpoints in the fastest time. You
should use the radar more than most Checkpoint races to determine where the
Checkpoint is, and if its above or below your position. These missions are
not available until you complete the mission "Rub Out".

Ocean Beach Chopper Checkpoint

How To Find: From the Ocean View Hotel, take a right South, and then another
right, round the back of the hotel. Head South and turn right at the Pole
Position Club, then take another right at the end. After the first left
there will be a white building with a pink roof, the helicopter is on here.

Walkthrough:
Either use a helicopter to get to the roof, or the steps of the carpark to
the North, just North of the Pay N Spray to jump to the roof. Get in the
Chopper and start the mission. Checkpoint 1 is slightly North East, go over
the building to the North and then East to the road, Checkpoint 2 is North
again, at the North side of the multistorey carpark to you right.
Checkpoint 3 is East of here, follow the road heading East, go between the
buildings down the alleyway, be careful of the buildings either side. Turn
right at the end and fly South, get Checkpoint 4, which is on the road. Go
West over the Ocean View Hotel and get Checkpoint 5 which is above the
entrance to the multistorey carpark building. Continue heading West and
turn South at the road, fly South and get Checkpoint 6.

Follow this road South and get Checkpoint 7, be careful not to hit the
street lights. Turn imedietly West and head for Checkpoint 8, which is
above a pink building, continue West and slightly North grab Checkpoint 9
between the 2 white buildings. Now fly over the marina to the West and drop
down to get Checkpoint 10. Follow the road going South to get Checkpoint 11
and Checkpoint 12 between the 2 junctions. Head slightly North and go round
the back of the two hotels to get Checkpoint 13. Continue North-East over
the Pole Position club to get Checkpoint 14, then follow this road North,
Checkpoint 15 is above a small white building just to the right. Turn next
left into the entrance of the multistorey carpark to get Checkpoint 16. Now
Head South West towards the start, the final Checkpoint is on the Eastern
side of the white building with a pink roof, be careful of the trees when
you get Checkpoint 17.

How To Find: Coming into Eastern Vice City from Leaf Links, take the first
left and then the first right under a white arch into a back alley. Then
take a left where the wooden fence has a gap, the Helicopter is here.

Walkthrough:
Get in and head North, Checkpoint 1 is at the North end of the grassy area,
you start at. Go slightly East but continue North over the white building
to the right, Checkpoint 2 is on the road to the North, be careful of the
street lights. Turn left and head West over the Villa and get Checkpoint 3
at the junction, then turn North go over the next Villa and get Checkpoint
4 at this junction. Continue following the road that eventually leads to
Prawn Island and get Checkpoint 5. Continue heading North, gain some hight
and get Checkpoint 6. Turn and head East, Checkpoint 7 is on the Northern
side of the Yellow and White building. Continue heading East until you get
to the road, turn and head South, get Checkpoint 8 which is quite low,
watch out for the street lights here.

Continue heading South down this road and get Checkpoint 9, gain some
altitude and get Checkpoint 10 which is just above a white building to the
right. Turn and head West following this road, Checkpoint 11 is at the end
of this road. Now head South and grab Checkpoint 12 which is at road level,
continue South over the villas and get Checkpoint 13 just off to the side
of the road. Checkpoint 14 is back on the road heading South, at the next
junction. Continue following that road past the Pay N Spray to get
Checkpoint 15, now head slightly East over the White building complex near
the start and get Checkpoint 16, which is at the Southern end of this
complex. Now turn all the way round and get Checkpoint 17, it is above Leaf
Links View a tall White building with a red titled roof, it should be North
West of your position.

How To Find: Coming into Downtown from Prawn Island, follow the long road
until you can turn left, the take first left, and left again at the end.
Head North until you see some steps on the left behind a building, head up
those steps, the helicopter is at the Western end.

Walkthrough:
Get some height and head west, get Checkpoint 1 above the radio tower of
the police station, now turn and head North, Checkpoint 2 is in the
entrance area of the fire station. Follow the road North and get Checkpoint
3, Checkpoint 4 is at the end, but slightly higher up, go over Ammu-Nation
and get Checkpoint 5 above the roof. Turn slightly West into the backyard
area and get Checkpoint 6. Checkpoint 7 is then on the North Western,
corner of the building, continue in that direction and get Checkpoint 8
above the road. Follow the road North and get Checkpoint 9, be careful of
the buildings either side. Turn right and head East, get Checkpoint 10.
follow the road to the end and get Checkpoint 11, then continue heading
East and get Checkpoint 12, above the white building.

Turn slightly South and get Checkpoint 13, which is on the Southern side of
the white building, over the road. Follow this road and get Checkpoint 14,
and Checkpoint 15 which is off to the right and in the entrance of a
Finance building. Go in the entrance and round the sculpture, get
Checkpoint 16, watch out for the walls and go through the opening to get
Checkpoint 17. Head South across the car park, get Checkpoint 18, then go
straight up to the VCN Helipad to get Checkpoint 19. Head slightly west and
grab Checkpoint 20, then head towards the entrance of the huge opening in
the building get Checkpoint 21 and go through the "tunnel" to get
Checkpoint 22, you don't actually have to do this, as you can go round the
building, but it's not as hard as it looks.

Now turn East and get Checkpoint 23, which is slightly below your position,
follow the road South and at the junction turn right, get Checkpoint 24,
25, 26, and 27, be careful of the telegraph poles and buildings as you go.
Turn and head North at the junction fly over and get Checkpoint 28, then
head off the road to the right and get Checkpoint 29, which is in a tree so
be careful not to loose control.

buildings on the left, with a green planter outside, the helicopter is on
top of these buildings.

Walkthrough:
You need to use either a helicopter to get onto the roof, or use a
relativly quick vehicle and use the blue and red cargo crates to the North
to jump to the roof. Once in the Chopper head South and get Checkpoint 1
between the two buildings, then turn right and head West, grab Checkpoint
2 above some shacks, watch the telephone poles as you get it. Turn South
and get Checkpoint 3, continue going South Checkpoint 4 is above a block
of shacks, be careful not to hit the telephone pole. Continue heading
South and get Checkpoint 5 which is in the Printworks Car Park, gain
some altitude and grab Checkpoint 6 which is on the Southern side of the
Printworks.

Continue going South over the road and the white building, follow the road
going South and get Checkpoint 7, go slightly East off the road and get
Checkpoint 8 in a sandy area, be careful of the telephone poles again.
Keep going South over all the buildings and get Checkpoint 9, which is
above the road, turn right slightly and head South West get Checkpoint 10.
Now follow the East/West road here, round North and get Checkpoint 11. Go
over the Rockstar sign and head North over a road and get Checkpoint 12.
Checkpoint 13 is above the basketball courts in the centre of this block,
head North to get it and continue on North to get Checkpoint 14 which is
near the Printworks. Head slightly to the West and get Checkpoint 15,
above a white building, carry on going North, get Checkpoint 16 where the
road curves round to the right.

Follow the road and get Checkpoint 17, which is above the building to the
left. Turn and Head straight North and grab Checkpoint 18, above some
buildings to the right. Head behind well stacked pizza co, and along the
grassy area, Checkpoint 19 is here. Keep going North and get Checkpoint 20
above some buildings near the start, now head past the start and up over
the building just North of the start, where Checkpoint 21, the final
Checkpoint is.

This is my second FAQ, and its on another Grand Theft Auto, my other was a
GTA London 1961 guide, so check it out. I wanted to do something for Vice
as i couldn't bring myself away from the game having 100% it. So i decided
to write a Guide/FAQ, but most things had been covered on GamesFAQ.com, so
i came up with the various Checkpoint races, since it wasn't really
covered in any detail by anyone.

Personally i think Rockstar did the right thing with this, they changed the
format of the Checkpoint race, as opposed to the stuff in GTA3, and they
varied the vehicles you used. I would like to see more races like the old
ones though as they were much more challenging, whereas these were a little
too easy. I would also love to see (in the next GTA) submarines, jet skis
and RC boats, especially as Checkpoint races like these.
