===================================DISCLAIMER==================================
I have decided not to allow websites other than Gamefaqs (www.gamefaqs.com),
IGN (faqs.ign.com), Gamerhelp (www.gamerhelp.com) & Gamespot (www.gamespot.com)
to host my FAQs from now on.
Please don't ask, because I will not grant permission. It's just that too many
sites don't keep their version of my FAQ up to date which makes for a lot of
hassle in my mailbox.
So if anyone sees this FAQ on any site other than those mentioned above, please
let me know and I will take care of the situation, thanks.

Just to make things crystal clear for some people, this FAQ is not to appear
anywhere at the following URLs:

                                (B) INTRODUCTION
###############################################################################

This is a very good game, it's got great atmosphere, great challenge, great
voice acting, etc. Almost everything about it is great, BUT it does currently
have a lot of glitches. They may totally ruin the experience for some people,
it really depends on how much effort you're willing to put into getting past
the glitches. I agree that a game shouldn't really have this many glitches
when it hits store shelves but it is being patched quite regularly, so it's not
so bad.

This FAQ was originally written with V1.30 of the game, but as of this update
there exists a V1.60 patch.

###############################################################################
                                   (D) STORY
###############################################################################

"My name is Steve R. Hawkins, intelligence Sergeant. When I first arrived in
Vietnam I got stuck in the rear for three boring weeks, serving as an
instructor for the Vietnamese Special Forces at Nha Trang.

Not bad duty really, but incredibly boring. Now, with that behind me I'm on
the way to Nui Pek, a hot camp up in Central Highlands, and a chance to see
some action... Finally!"

###############################################################################
                                   (E) TIPS
###############################################################################

Always check the bodies of the VC, they have ammo, weapons and other important
items. Always pick up as much ammo as you can carry, then if you run out of
ammo for your current gun you can always drop it and pick up their different
gun.

The lower down you are to the ground (crouch, crawl) the better your aim will
be and the less recoil you will experience while shooting. You also have
improved aim while aiming with the right mouse button.

When you check the map you can sometimes order air strikes by moving a set of
crosshairs on the map and clicking.

Use quicksave (F5) so you don't have to repeat whole stages over again.

The green dots on your compass are your troops and the red dots are enemies.

By having Nhut (your pointman) lead the team, he will spot traps and enemies
for you as well as take you where you need to go.

Use the medic to heal you and save your own medkits if you have a medic on your
team.

Use your medkits whenever you are low on health or find a second medkit from a
VC body (you can only carry one at a time).

On most missions where you have an engineer on your team, you can walk up to
him and press enter to get more ammo for your current weapon.

Be sure to command your troops, otherwise they pretty much do whatever they
want. By commanding them you can take out enemies much faster or get to your
troops and their associated functions more easily.

By aiming with your gun and using the binoculars [with B] you can get your
target in the middle of the screen and effectively snipe with just about any
weapon.

I strongly recommend that you play as much of the tutorial in the game as
possible as it gives you a great way to learn the controls and how to play the
game best.

--------
Prologue
--------

Press enter to leave the helicopter after the intro, then head for the Tactical
Operations Centre bunker (the big one with the American flag). Use your map
(press M) if you have to, then enter the building and talk with Captain
Rosenfield.

Follow the captain south afterwards to reach your bunker, then open the door
and enter your bunker. Take the Pistol (Colt M1911) and use the bed to get rid
of your bag, then leave your bunker and head west to the firing range.

Pick up any of the guns on the north wall and fire at the targets out the
nearby window until a medic appears. Follow the medic to meet the captain
again, then wait by the jeep to start a cutscene and your first mission.

----------------------
Stage 01: Medic Patrol
----------------------

Listen to the conversation during the drive to the village, then press enter to
get out of the jeep once you arrive. The medic goes off to attend to his
patients, you should follow the captain for now.

Follow the captain right behind the nearby building when a sniper fires off a
shot, then crouch behind the captain as he warns you to look out for muzzle
flashes or smoke.

Run after the medic as the captain provides covering fire, then crouch beside
the medic while using some nearby logs for cover.

Follow the medic to a large rock nearby, then hide for a moment. Now head
north while using rocks and a log for cover, then wait for the medic to catch
up to you.

Head north up the hill where you hear a helicopter, then follow the path west
of you and kill the trio of VC around the corner. Use the trees, stumps and
logs for cover and it shouldn't be too hard. Use the medic to heal you once he
catches up with you, then head all the way back to the village. Finally meet
up with the captain to end the stage.

Check your debriefing if you wish and click "bunker" to return there. After a
cutscene of the mission briefing you end up in your bunker. Read the various
documents for a lot of background info if you wish, then use the mission
briefing to begin the next stage.

-----------------------------------
Stage 02: Three Canyons - Insertion
-----------------------------------

Get out of the helicopter and head northwest to your troops, then go northeast
as your partners radio HQ. Follow the path through the jungle as your troops
spot a monkey, then slowly continue on until your pointman tells you to stop.

Talk to him to learn of a trap up ahead, then crouch and go slowly north
towards the tripwire. Go to the left end of the tripwire and press enter to
disarm it, then continue onward as you spot some VC up ahead.

Quickly hide behind a nearby rock as your pointman tells you that the VC are
running then carefully continue onward to another (orange) tripwire. Crawl
towards the wire and press enter to safely disarm it, then crouch as you avoid
VC gunfire in the open area ahead.

Head northeast under a log once the VC run off, then make sure you don't touch
the patch of ground between the three rocks as it has spikes below. Stay on
the rocks instead and hug the right wall to avoid another hidden spike trap.

Follow the path until you get a message about the radio icon, then approach
your radioman (Defort) and press enter to radio HQ and end the stage.

---------------------------------------------
Stage 03: Three Canyons - Ho Chi Minh's Trail
---------------------------------------------

Your troops spot the VC when you start so crouch and follow them to a cliff,
then follow the nearby path to the ground once the VC walk away. Continue
following the path east to a grey area, then take out a VC behind you and
another in front of you if your partners don't do it first.

Take out another VC around the corner on your left as well as a second one high
on the cliff to your right. Continue along the path to a large rock as you
take out a VC behind it, then head onward and kill a pair of VC in the bushes
ahead.

Wait here for a moment, when you pass the nearby plants there will be a VC on
the ground. However, as you attack him some other VC will try to use grenades
on you. I find it works best to shoot the ground VC while running at him, then
continue running to avoid the grenades and hopefully take out a second VC high
on the cliff beyond.

Kill the trio of VC around the corner and kill a pair beyond, then continue
along the path as the radio icon appears. Use Defort to radio HQ about the
enemies in the area and the weapon caches, then continue east up the hill and
kill a VC in the bushes on your right.

Turn around and head northwest up the hill, then shoot a VC on your right near
the top. Take out another VC beyond him and take the right (lower) path, then
kill the VC behind the tree near the bridge.

Cross the bridge as you hear helicopters, then follow the path around the
corner as you kill a pair of VC. Enter the open area ahead as you kill more
VC, then head north towards a large tree and enter a passage beyond to end the
stage.

----------------------------------------------
Stage 04: Three Canyons - Keep Running Charlie
----------------------------------------------

Head to the nearby log bridge and take out your binoculars (press B), then look
northeast at the V walking by the water. Cross the bridge and head down the
hill to the water, then kill a nearby VC in the water and another to your left.

Head west in the water as you kill another VC, then use Defort to radio HQ. Go
to the section of land ahead and look for an opening in the right wall, then
follow the path inside and climb to a second path along the way.

Follow the cliffside path and carefully climb down on the other side, then head
southeast until you reach an open forest area.

Take cover behind the large rock on your right, then take out the three VC with
the help of your troops. Enter the forest area and use cover as you kill about
eight more VC, then place the C4 on the nearby weapons cache (roofed area with
weapons and boxes).

Quickly lead your troops away from the immediate area before the C4 goes off,
then use your radio (Defort) once it does. Head south along a path that goes
beside the water, then follow the path uphill to a clearing.

Take out a trio of VC before following the path, then cross a small wooden
bridge and pick up the red sign (intel). Follow the cliffside path on your
left to reach another bridge, then cross it and another bridge beyond to end
the stage.

--------------------------------------
Stage 05: Three Canyons - Bahnar Tribe
--------------------------------------

After the radio transmission you should head east until you reach a small
waterfall, then go northeast up the hill. Turn east and head towards the
village as the VC start to attack it, then attack the VC on the north and east
sides of the village.

Head to the high ground to fight them if you have to, then meet up with your
troops once the VC are all dead. Use Defort to radio HQ, then watch as your
troops set some green smoke to call the helicopter. Get out of the way of the
helicopter so it can land, then walk up to it to and press enter to end the
mission.

---------------------------
Stage 06: Midnight Surprise
---------------------------

Check the debriefing is you wish and return to the bunker, then listen to the
briefing until the VC start to attack the bunker.

Turn on your light (press L) and leave the bunker, then head right in the
trenches as you take out a group near the jeeps. Take the path beyond as you
shoot more VC and crouch behind the boxes.

Meet the captain up ahead as he organizes some groups to attack the remaining
VC, then go through the barbed-wire gate (once Hornster opens it). Hide behind
the boxes ahead as you kill a pair of VC, then follow the path right to more
VC. Take the next path that has the white sandbags to a small ramp and clear
out the VC here if there are any left.

Your troops should mention that the VC were coming from here and the radio icon
should appear after you move around a bit. Find Defort and use his radio, then
get the C4 from Bronson.

Go down the nearby ladder and crouch to make your way through the tunnel, then
kill a VC as you work your way to the open room at the end of the tunnels.
Place the C4 on the boxes and go back through the tunnels to the ladder, then
once you get above ground a cutscene starts and the stage ends.

-----------------
Stage 07: Tin Can
-----------------

Check the debriefing if you want and return to the bunker, then watch the
cutscene and return to your bunker. Read the updated documents (like your
diary) if you want, then read the mission briefing to start the mission.

Watch the cutscene and exit the helicopter when it lands by pressing enter,
then follow your team southwest. Go northwest to meet the other team by the
bridge, then run across the bridge and shoot the VC in the bushes to your
right.

Enter the grey building on your left and shoot another VC, then head up the
path and turn right when you can to reach another grey building. Kill the pair
of VC in the circular area on your right, then kill another pair around the
building. Climb the ladder and kill another VC, then use Defort's radio to
contact HQ.

Continue northwest along the path and approach the rusted tanks, then use
Defort's radio once again. Continue northwest and approach the spikes west of
you as a number of VC start firing. Quickly retreat and find a space where
there are no spikes, then attack the VC from there and enter their trenches to
finish the job.

You can also use the air strike if you want, but I find it's more hassle than
it's worth. Make sure you stay in the open trenches only, if you enter the
underground ones your troops can get stuck and that's really annoying.

Once all enemies are dead (including the two in the bunker at the end of the
trenches) go to the log on the right side of the bunker. Crouch under the
bunker and enter the area beyond to end the stage.

-------------------------------
Stage 08: Tin Can - False Alarm
-------------------------------

Follow the path to an open area filled with VC, then retreat a little and get
on the right ledge to take out a few VC in that area. You can then shoot quite
a few from that spot. Once they're all dead you should head for the troop left
for dead on the northeast side.

Use Defort's radio afterwards, then watch your troops set the signal smoke.
Use Defort's radio once more, then start heading southwest towards some VC.
Use the trees for cover as you kill about six VC around the grey building, then
take out the one on top and any that are left inside.

Take the southwest path behind the building and follow it to a clearing, then
disarm the booby trap on the troop there (press enter). Use Defort's radio
next and go southeast down the next path, then notice that there are VC on your
right.

They shouldn't notice you if you don't fire so continue down the path until it
ends, then the VC will likely notice you. Enter the trenches from this end and
work your way through as you take out the VC, then when all are dead you can
use Defort's radio to watch a cutscene.

Kill the lone VC up ahead and climb out of the tunnel, then enter the next
tunnel and kill another VC. Head left when the path forks, then kill a VC as
you exit the second tunnel.

Enter the third tunnel up ahead and crouch to get inside, then walk until you
fall in a hole. Listen to the radio transmission that starts next to end the
stage.

------------------------------
Stage 09: Tin Can - Tunnel Rat
------------------------------

Turn on your light (press L) and crouch as you head west through the tunnels.
Check the boxes on your left when the path forks, then use the radio for a
short update.

Continue along the path as you hear an explosion, then ignore the room coming
up on your right. Follow the path instead and ignore another room on your
right, then shoot a VC in the upcoming room on your left.

Shoot another VC in the tunnel ahead, then ignore the room to your right as you
press onward. Head right when the path forks and shoot a pair of VC, then
radio HQ about your current situation.

Turn around and head back to the fork, this time take the other path (not the
one that takes you back to the start of the stage), then open the cover on the
ground and drop down the shaft.

Crouch to enter the next tunnel and shoot a VC where the path forks, then take
the right path for some weapons and ammo. Drop down the nearby shaft and work
your way through a short tunnel to a ladder in order to end the stage.

--------------------------
Stage 10: Tin Can - Arroyo
--------------------------

Switch to your automatic and exit the tunnels, then kill the pair of VC to your
right. Follow the path northeast as you duck under a log, then kill a pair of
VC ahead of you.

Continue along the path as you duck under another log, then kill another pair
of VC. Kill a VC by the triple tree ahead, then kill another by the fallen log
behind it.

Kill some VC southeast of you before heading that way, then kill a VC by the
fallen log on your right. Go on ahead and kill a VC on your left, then
approach his log and look left some more for a pair of VC to kill.

Head southeast along the path and kill a trio of VC that emerge from a cave
opening, be careful because one of them has grenades. Also shoot a VC
northeast of you who's hiding in a small window, then enter the cave that the
VC came from.

Once you reach the room at the end some VC will attack from outside, so exit
the tunnel the way you came in and kill the VC outside. Head northeast past
the cave and under some large tree roots, then take out a group of VC around a
fallen log.

Another VC shoots at you from a bunker window northeast of you, kill him if you
can. Either way approach the window and use your radio when the icon appears,
then check the southern hill.

You should see a small trio of bamboo leaned against each other almost like a
teepee. To the left of this marker on the wall is a circular patch of
discolored debris, walk through it to enter a tunnel.

Crouch as you head through the tunnel, then kill the VC ahead if you didn't
earlier. Finally enter the small room to find a tiger hat and end the stage.

----------------------------------------
Stage 11: Tin Can - The Underground City
----------------------------------------

Listen to the radio transmission and turn on your light (press L), then kill a
pair of VC up ahead. Go left when the path forks and kill a trio of VC on your
way to the next fork.

Go left there and kill a pair of VC, then use your radio to find out it's
useless. Enter the tunnel at the end of the room and face left so you can kill
a pair of VC at the intersection up ahead.

Kill a third VC behind them, then return to the path and continue northwest.
Kill a trio of VC in the passage coming up on your right, then continue west to
another fork.

Kill a trio of VC in the left path, then return to the fork and take the other
path. Take the right path at the next fork until you reach yet another fork,
then take the right path to avoid a death trap.

Stay on this path and go around the corner as you reach another fork, then
enter the room on your right and kill a VC. Open the trapdoor in the corner
for some weapons and ammo, then return to the path and continue south.

Head left at the branch to reach a room with a radio, then kill a VC in the
tunnel on your left. Enter the tunnel at the end of the room and kill a pair
of VC, then use the radio to contact HQ.

Put some C4 on the radio (press enter), then return to the nearby fork. Take
the left path (as the right leads to where you came from earlier), then enter
the large room when you come to it.

Pick up the white intel from the table in the corner, then enter the tunnel at
the back of the room and work your way to a fork. Kill a VC in the right path,
then take the left until you reach another fork.

Take the right path as you kill a VC in the next room, then kill a second in
the tunnel at the back. Use your radio to contact HQ, then take the tunnel on
the west wall and drop down the shaft when you come to it.

Work your way to a fork and take the right path to another fork, then go right
twice and work your way past a table to another tunnel and a fork beyond. Go
right and follow the tunnel to another fork, then go left to avoid a death
trap.

You should hear Marv up ahead, so go on and kill the pair of VC in the next
room. Climb the ladder nearby and kill any VC in the room, then wander the
room a little before using your radio to contact HQ.

Take the tunnel in the southeast corner of the room, then enter the room on
your right for some weapons and ammo. Continue northwest along the path until
you find a cover on the ground, then open it and drop down the shaft.

Follow the tunnel below and climb a small wall, then head right at the upcoming
fork and follow it to end the stage.

----------------------------------
Stage 12: Tin Can - Khe Bana River
----------------------------------

Listen to the radio transmission and start heading south along the side of the
river (don't fall in). Your C4 from the previous stage goes off and enemies
start appearing everywhere.

Continue heading south along the river and try to take out any enemies in your
way, then use the radio when the icon appears. Kill a pair of VC near a fallen
log up ahead, then continue alongside the river.

Hide behind the trees ahead as you kill a trio of VC, then kill a pair of VC as
you approach the bridge nearby. Cross the bridge and head towards the village
on your right, then use your radio once the icon for it appears.

Head north and use appropriate cover as you kill a pair of VC, then cross the
log bridge north of you. Use the trees for cover as you kill a trio of VC,
then head northwest and press enter to get in the boat.

Use the radio to contact HQ, then equip the M-60 and kill a air of VC on your
right. This is quickly followed by a lone VC on the left bank, then another
one on the right bank ahead.

Take out a VC on a boat left of you next, then take out some on a boat to your
right. Kill a VC on the left ledge, then get another under a tree up ahead.
Shoot another pair of VC under a similar tree, then kill a guard in a boat and
a pair along the right bank before ending the stage and the mission.

Check the debriefing if you want and return to the bunker, then watch the
cutscene and return to your bunker. Read the updated documents (like your
diary) if you want, then read the mission briefing to start the mission.

--------------------------------------
Stage 13: Papa Oscar Whiskey - Swamped
--------------------------------------

Switch to your automatic first, then talk to Nhut to get him to lead the way.
Follow Nhut and talk to him when he signals to stop to learn of a nearby VC
guard, then take out the guard with your troops if they won't follow you.

Talk to Nhut when he next signals to stop to learn of a VC hut, then radio HQ
about it before heading towards it. Check inside the hut to learn that it's
empty, then return to Nhut and follow him (or press enter to get him moving,
then follow him).

When Nhut next gives the stop signal you need to take out a VC slightly right
of you, once that's done talk to Nhut and start following him again. Shoot an
enemy southeast of you when Nhut next signals to stop, then follow him to a
bridge up ahead.

A number of VC attack you here so return fire while using the trees as cover,
then use your radio when the icon appears. Head south to the land beyond the
bridge and kill a VC left of you.

Carefully head south and use lots of cover as you and your team take out about
seven VC. Carefully head southwest as you take out another pair of VC, then
head northwest and carefully take out a small group of VC.

Most of the VC in this area should be dead now so put Nhut on point (press
enter) and follow him until he tells you that you're close. Kill the 3-4 VC
ahead and put Nhut back on point, then follow him a few steps to end the stage.

----------------------------
Stage 14: Papa Oscar Whiskey
----------------------------

**NOTE**

This stage is the hardest one so far in the game AND it has a really annoying
glitch so read on about how to get through the stage with the least pain.

Use your radio to contact HQ, then switch to your silenced pistol and set Nhut
to point. Follow close behind Nhut until he stops and your objectives get
updated, then talk to Nhut and watch as he crawls and kills a guard (completing
your third objective in the process).

Approach Nhut to start a short cutscene, then radio HQ afterwards. This next
part is THE HARDEST part of the game so far, it's VERY frustrating.

Go towards Crocker and pass him on his right side, then walk along the edge of
the hill until you can't go any farther. Head south down the hill as you lose
some health, then go east the wall of plants.

Crawl south to the open area and towards the building on your left, then wait
there until a guard appears by the fallen log to your right. You need to make
sure you're not too close to the guard or he will see you, otherwise hold the
right mouse button to aim from your crawling position.

Fire off about four shots at the guard to kill him, if he doesn't die then you
fail the mission (now you see why it's so annoying). Wait a few seconds so you
know that the enemies aren't aware of you (if you see the cutscene where they
kill the hostage, they know you're there). Use the quicksave somewhere that's
not too close to the building that you were hiding behind, because if you stand
up near there some guards inside will wake up ad you will fail the mission.

Crawl past the fallen log and check the area ahead of you and to your left.
There should be a guard appearing among the boxes ahead of you soon, shoot him
4 times and hope that you're still undetected.

Quicksave after waiting for a few moments if you're still undetected, there's
one more guard left. He should be patrolling on the other side of the cage so
kill him with four silenced shots with your pistol just like the other two
guards.

Make sure you're still undetected, then use the quicksave and give Bronson the
signal (press enter while aiming at the hostage cage from some medium
distance).

Now switch to your automatic and get ready for the less stealthy but equally
tricky part. Open the door to the cage and lead the POW back east (towards the
thin trees) the way you entered the camp. Bronson's bomb should go off shortly
afterwards, at which point some VC may come after you from the village.

Basically shoot anything that comes from that direction and looks like a VC,
once you kill three or less your buddies will likely storm the camp to help you
out. Despite this I recommend staying back while they kill the VC, then once
it seems like they're all dead you can return to the camp to make sure.

Quicksave before you return to the camp, then kill any remaining VC if there
are any. Otherwise exit the camp through the path at the north end to complete
your first objective and get a short message.

Continue north/northeast along the path until it becomes a dead-end, then turn
around and walk up a ramp to the ledge that you left Nhut on. Approach him to
complete the final objective, then radio HQ for a helicopter. Once the
helicopter lands you can press enter to get on it and end the stage.

**NOTE**

As if this stage wasn't already a nightmare I have had the dreaded "MISSION
FAILED" come on screen shortly after clearing out all VC, before returning to
Nhut with the POW. If all VC are dead I have no idea why I should be failing
the mission and assume that it's just a cruel glitch for a cruel stage.

If you happen to experience this glitch, sadly the only solution is to restart
the stage.

I also have a slightly more dangerous yet faster way of clearing out the VC
once you get the POW out of his cage. Kill the pair of sleeping enemies north
of the cage, then quickly run to the inside-back wall of their little hut and
lie down (mainly so the POW lies down too). Now turn around and kill any VC
that come near you, when I used these tactics I didn't experience the glitch
mentioned above. Maybe the two are related, maybe not, either way it's worth
mentioning.

Some people have also mentioned that answering your radio at the right time can
prevent the glitch. If you ignore the final radio call after rescuing the POW
and clearing the camp of VC until you've let him up to Nhut then you should be
fine, according to some people.

Watch the cutscene after the stage, then check the debriefing if you want and
return to the bunker. Watch another cutscene and return to your bunker once
again, then read the updated documents (like your diary) if you want.
Otherwise read the mission briefing to start the next mission.

-------------------------
Stage 15: Brush And Sweep
-------------------------

Press enter to get out of the helicopter, then head east once it takes off.
When you reach the small wall the VC should start appearing from the north and
west so take them out as they appear on your compass.

Use Defort's radio when the icon appears, then wait (and hold your fire) as
enemy POWs are captured and your objectives are updated. Now check your map
and walk from island to island (the green blobs) as they snake from east to
west.

Kill any VC that you encounter on each island and you shouldn't get lost at
all. Use Defort's radio when the icon appears, then head northeast to the next
island.

Kill a few VC on this island and use Defort's radio once again when the icon
appears, then head to the northwest end of the island before crossing southwest
to the next large island.

Follow the island west, northwest and north, then fight a few VC ahead of you.
Head north and east across the next few islands according to the map next to
end both the stage and the mission.

Check the debriefing if you want and return to the bunker, then watch another
cutscene and return to your bunker once again. Read the updated documents (like
your diary) if you want, otherwise read the mission briefing to start the next
mission.

----------------------------
Stage 16: Twisty Track Drive
----------------------------

This stage has you driving for once so enjoy it, just make sure you don't flip
the jeep.

Take the road until it forks, then take the right path until you get a radio
transmission. Stop for the radio, then carefully continue onward so you don't
tip over.

The road gets slightly narrower as you go uphill and you should get another
radio transmission shortly afterward. Continue down the road and cross a small
bridge ahead and continue onward past a stream as you get another radio call.

Somewhere up ahead the road will do a hairpin as you start going uphill so get
ready for it, then work your way up and over another small bridge as you
approach a large one.

Cross the large bridge and go around a hairpin turn beyond, then continue
working your way up. You're not far now, once you see some rocks blocking the
road the stage ends.

--------------------------------------
Stage 17: Twisty Track Drive - Outpost
--------------------------------------

Head up the road and kill a few VC nearby, then ignore the radio when the icon
appears. Head south instead and kill the VC team by the water first, then head
northeast for the next team to kill.

Kill the VC in the area around the hut and the area above neat the outpost to
eliminate the remaining two mortar teams. Use your radio when the icon appears
and shoot any VC that appear on your compass, otherwise head for the southwest
side of the outpost and walk across the small wooden bridge to safely get
inside.

Talk to the troops inside the outpost, then attack the VC that appear on your
radar. Once you've killed them all (about 10-15 VC), the radio icon will
appear. Find Defort and use his radio to talk with HQ, start a cutscene and
end both the stage and the mission.

Check the debriefing if you want and return to the bunker, then watch another
cutscene and return to your bunker once again. Read the updated documents (like
your diary) if you want, otherwise read the mission briefing to start the next
mission.

---------------------
Stage 18: Radio Relay
---------------------

The first part of this stage can be pretty difficult because it's almost like a
shooter on rails. The whole time you control a set of turrets in a helicopter
and try to shoot as many VC as possible.

You're trying to keep them from reaching the buildings at the very top if
possible, there isn't really anything I can tell you other than to keep a
watchful eye and shoot as many VC as quickly as possible.

Early in the stage there are also a couple of VC by some mortars, take them out
ASAP to clear the second objective.

Once the helicopter lands press enter to get out, then watch your compass and
start taking out a number of VC. Take out the few that try to sneak up from
the south, then work on the brunt of them as they approach from the north.

Don't go to them because you'll die in no time, let them come to you instead.
Use Defort's radio when the icon appears, then fend off more VC attacks
according to the compass.

Use Defort's radio once more when the icon appears, then hold back more VC
assaults. After a some more time the radio icon appears once more, so use
Defort's radio once again to learn that help is finally on the way.

Get back to shooting more VC and use Defort's radio yet again when the icon
appears, the helicopter is closer and expecting resistance at the LZ.

Begin shooting the VC once more as you watch and listen for the helicopter.
Once it lands make sure your troops are on the helicopter, then press enter to
climb aboard and end both the stage and the mission.

Check the debriefing if you want and return to the bunker, then watch another
cutscene and return to your bunker once again. Read the updated documents (like
your diary) if you want, otherwise read the mission briefing to start the next
mission.

----------------------------------------------
Stage 19: Po Tlong Karai - Crash In The Jungle
----------------------------------------------

Head northwest from the start, then go north around the corner to find a VC
bunker. Take cover behind the trees as you and your troops clear the bunker,
then go around it and head east along the path.

After you pass a large log on your left the path starts to curve left, under a
log up ahead are some VC so use the tree on your right for cover as you take
them out.

Head northwest along the path and watch the ground carefully as you hug the
left mound. You should see a square section on the ground, this is a spike
trap so uncover it if you want (press enter) before avoiding it.

Go along the log on your right and use Defort's radio when the icon appears,
then put Nhut on point and follow him. He stops when he sees some VC, at which
point you should attack the trio with your troops.

Crawl under the log north of you and use Defort's radio once more as the icon
appears, then put Nhut back on point and follow him. Climb up the rocks when
you reach them as Nhut warns about a storm, then use Defort's radio a third
time when the icon appears to end the stage.

-------------------------------------------
Stage 20: Po Tlong Karai - Seizing The Hill
-------------------------------------------

Put Nhut on point as you follow him north and east to the Fist Delta team, then
use Defort's radio to radio HQ when the icon appears. Continue east until you
reach a crater by a log, then head north/northeast up the hill.

Go east to meet up with Fist Bravo team in some trenches, then use Defort's
radio to update HQ on the situation. Kill the VC east of you and north around
the downed helicopter, then continue north to a huge log as you kill more VC.

Go northeast a little until the radio icon appears, then use Defort's radio to
update HQ on your situation. Head north next and DON'T get too close to the
burning helicopter, if you do your troops will sometimes get caught on fire.

Face west and start killing the VC ahead of you as you carefully weave your way
past the wires. Use any logs for cover as you go, then start heading northwest
once past the wires.

Use the fallen logs for cover like usual, then once most of the VC in the
immediate area are clear run up to the bunker window north of you and kill the
annoying VC there.

Head northwest alongside the peak of the hill until you reach a tunnel, then
use Defort's radio to tell HQ about the tunnel. Crouch down and switch on your
light (press L), then enter the tunnel and follow it to an intersection.

Kill the guard by the window on your right if you didn't earlier, then take the
path that's straight ahead for a pair of VC to kill. Take the second guard's
Degtarev and any ammo that he has for it, then continue through the tunnel to
end the stage.

--------------------------------------------------
Stage 21: Po Tlong Karai - Ruins Of Po Tlong Karai
--------------------------------------------------

Follow the trench southeast of you and kill about five VC, then place C4 (press
enter) on the AA gun up ahead. Continue east until the trenches stop, then
climb out and head north to the ruins.

Shoot the VC east of you and wait for the radio icon to appear, then find
Defort and use his radio to contact HQ and get some objectives. Enter the
ruins on the west side and go left when the path branches, then kill a pair of
VC as you approach another branch.

Head west into a room that has VC up high and a few down low, then try your
best to clear the room. At some point you should kill a VC and have your
character mention something about him being hard to kill and worth the trouble.

Search that VC to find the enemy maps and complete the corresponding objective,
then check the door east of you for another group of VC to kill. Check a
tunnel on the south side of the room to find a VC and the POWs in the branch to
your right, this also completes another objective.

Return to the tunnel and follow it to another branch, then shoot some VC to
your right before leaving the tunnel that way. Head west and kill a group of
about five VC by the branch, then head north and east into a new area.

Shoot the VC on the north wall before heading north to that wall, then head
west through a passage to reach a large area and the second AA gun. Plant your
C4 (press enter) on the AA gun and get a safe distance from it, then use
Defort's radio to contact HQ. This also starts a pair of cutscenes as the
stage ends.

----------------------------------
Stage 22: Po Tlong Karai - Cave In
----------------------------------

Turn on your light (press L) before entering the passage west of you, then kill
a VC in the room up ahead on your right. Search the next room and continue
along the path, the rush into the room at the bottom and hide behind the box on
the left.

Kill the trio of VC before checking the room on your left for some weapons and
ammo, I recommend taking the PPS-41. Return to the main passage and head north
past the boxes to the next room where you shoot a VC, then jump carefully on
top of the well.

Climb down the ladder to the bottom and shoot a VC outside on your right, then
kill another in the tunnel southeast of you. Follow that tunnel down a few
stairs and into a more open room, then kill a trio of VC inside before going up
the northeast stairs and shooting a VC on your right.

Enter the passage there and head south a bit, then turn left and enter a dirt
tunnel. Follow this tunnel to a fork, then go left until you fall into a
passage below and lose your automatic.

Try to use your radio, then equip your pistol and crouch as you follow the
tunnel in front of you to a fork. Take the left path to some dry land and
another fork, then go right past a photograph to a third fork.

Take the right path here until you reach another fork, then take a couple steps
on the left path before taking the right path of a new fork. Head up the hill
to an axe and a fork, then take the right path to a flooded tunnel.

Go through the tunnel (underwater) to a slightly larger room, then turn left
and quickly follow the tunnel there to get back to some shallow water. Take
the right path at the fork up ahead, then take the left path at the next fork
when your character complains about the water being nasty.

Now simply follow this tunnels curves until the stage ends.

-------------------------------------------
Stage 23: Po Tlong Karai - Evade And Escape
-------------------------------------------

Turn on your light (press L) and use the radio when the icon appears, then
equip your pistol and follow the tunnel to a fork. Take the right path until
you reach another fork, then take the left path to yet another fork.

Take the left path to a small room and wait for a moment, this is where the
stage can become really easy or really hard. Although your objective says to
sneak through the camp above, it's only a recommended course of action.

Unlike the POW mission earlier you WON'T fail if the enemy sees you, but if
you're not smart about it they will kill you faster than you can say quickload.
The key is to leave the tunnels through the opening in this room, then shoot
the nearby guard and get back into the tunnels.

About nine VC should come running and you can easily kill them all from the
opening while avoiding most of their shots. Once you don't think anymore VC
are coming, you can exit the tunnels through the opening and head southeast
through the camp as you kill the last few (if any VC).

Use your radio when the icon appears, then head east like HQ instructed you to.
Shoot about five VC as you use trees for cover, then continue east until you
hit what seem to be a wall of vegetation.

Go south along this wall until you get around it and can continue east, then do
exactly that as you cross a LARGE section of shallow water and fog. Once you
reach the other side you should see the ruins, approach them and use your radio
as the icon appears.

Enter the ruins and lurk in the northwest corner while waiting for the
helicopter to arrive, then shoot any VC that try to enter the ruins. Once your
helicopter lands simply walk up to it and press enter to end both the stage and
the mission.

Check the debriefing if you want and return to the bunker, then watch another
cutscene and return to your bunker once again. Read the updated documents (like
your diary) if you want, otherwise read the mission briefing to start the next
mission.

---------------------------------
Stage 24: Bahnar Village - Stream
---------------------------------

Exit the helicopter (press enter) when it lands, then use Defort's radio as the
icon appears.

Put Nhut on point and follow him until he discovers a trap, then approach the
left end of the tripwire and disarm it (press enter). Use your radio next to
tell HQ about the trap, then head to the river and start following it
southwest.

Once you can see a log arching down from the right bank stop, there's a
tripwire up ahead. Jump over it and disarm it from the other side, then attack
about five VC up ahead.

Use your radio when the icon appears shortly after, then continue along the
stream as you crawl under some logs. Fight a large VC group up ahead as you
use rocks for cover, then use the radio when the icon appears shortly after the
battle.

Continue up the river as you work your way past a series of logs, then attack
another group of VC. At the point where the river bends left and you can see a
tree growing from the left bank towards the right be careful, a tripwire is
below that tree.

Carefully disarm it on the left side as you fight whatever VC are left of this
group, then continue along the river until your character says that you can't
get through.

Set Nhut on point and follow him north/northeast along a path, then use your
radio when the icon appears to end the stage.

----------------------------------------------
Stage 25: Bahnar Village - Near Bahnar Village
----------------------------------------------

Listen to the radio transmission before setting Nhut on point, then follow him
to the first tripwire. Disarm it (press enter) on the left side, then put Nhut
back on point and follow him.

Take out the lone VC ahead, then watch for a tripwire just in front of the tree
on your right. Disarm it on the right side before putting Nhut back on point,
then take out a large group of VC ahead while you use the rocks for cover.

Put Nhut on point once more and follow him until you find some corpses, then
use the radio as the icon appears to end the stage.

-----------------------------------------
Stage 26: Bahnar Village - Bahnar Village
-----------------------------------------

Listen to the radio transmission and put Nhut on point, then follow him to the
village. Enter the village once you arrive and use the radio when the icon
appears, then explore a little until a VC shows up on the compass.

Run south to the water and use the radio there since the icon should have
appeared. Put Nhut on point once more and follow him to the bulk of the VC,
then take them out in the north and northwest area.

The radio icon appears once you kill all the VC in the area so use the radio to
contact HQ. Now put Nhut on point and follow him west up the river some and
south towards the pickup zone.

Use the radio when the icon appears, then watch as your troops pop the signal
smoke. Use the radio once more and wait for the helicopter to land, then press
enter to get inside and end both the stage and the mission.

Check the debriefing if you want and return to the bunker, then watch another
cutscene and return to your bunker once again. Read the updated documents (like
your diary) if you want, otherwise read the mission briefing to start the next
mission.

--------------------
Stage 27: The Bridge
--------------------

Listen to the radio transmission as the stage starts but watch the road for a
convoy of three trucks up ahead. Shoot the trucks until they explode, then
take out any leftover VC beside them.

Shoot a pair of VC near the stream/bridge next followed by a truck and some
more VC by the next stream. Shoot the team of about four VCs on the upper road
as well as the truck beyond them, then take out a pair of trucks and the VC in
the surrounding area as the air strike tries to take out the bridge.

Shoot VC until your helicopter lands, then get out and take the high road as
you head towards the bridge. Go right when you get close to the first
destroyed convoy, then take out some VC among the rocks.

Search all bodies for a Degtarev and ammo for it, then take out guards in the
rocks past the stream and near the next convoy. Approach the bridge as you
take out more VC on and around it, then take out a group to your left on the
other side as well as a few among the rocks.

Now you should be ready to blow the bridge, switch to your C4 and place it
(press enter) at the two pillars at this end (do it from under the bridge).
Cross back and do the same for the other two pillars, then start heading back
and use your radio to let the helicopter know you're ready for a pickup.

Work your way back to where you were dropped off while you kill some VC among
rocks and logs, then get in the helicopter (press enter) to end both the stage
and the mission.

Check the debriefing if you want and return to the bunker, then watch another
short cutscene and return to your bunker once again. Read the updated
documents (like your diary) if you want, otherwise read the mission briefing to
start the final mission.

--------------------------------------
Stage 28: Under Siege - They're Coming
--------------------------------------

The VC are trying to get in through the west wire so walk straight ahead and
take a right. Now walk straight past two turrets and find a nice spot facing
west in the trenches.

Crouch and hold the right mouse button to aim, then you can let go to revert to
crouching quickly if you need to avoid enemy fire or reload your weapon.

Basically shoot any enemy that you see in front of you with short bursts, don't
waste your ammo. Once you've killed around 10-15 VC you should see the VC blow
up part of the fence in front of you.

Next some VC should start running towards the opening with large planks of wood
that they intend to use as a bridge. Shoot these VC before they even lay the
plank, but if they manage to lay it down then quickly shoot it until it
explodes.

Chances are that you'll have to repeat this process beyond the next turret to
your right, so if you get orders to head over there make sure you do it.

Once both bridges are destroyed you should continue along the trenches until a
short cutscene starts and the stage ends.

----------------------------------------
Stage 29: Under Siege - Too Many Targets
----------------------------------------

This mission happens at night so it's harder to see what you're aiming at, but
there are flares every so often that light up the area.

Find a spot between the two turrets and take out any VC that you see, just like
you did in the previous mission. After you take out a few you should get a
message to retreat, so head to the left turret and follow a short trench east
to a sandbagged section.

Continue to pick off VC from here until you get another message to retreat and
a red flare lights up the area. Take a nearby trench even farther east to a
large gate, then rush through the gate as the doors open.

Follow the trench beyond past a few troops and a turret, this is where you'll
spend the rest of the stage.

If you kill any of the troops yourself accidentally you fail the mission so be
very careful with your fire if you choose to attack the VC through the gate.
Otherwise use the detonator beside the turret to detonate a series of
explosives and take out some VC.

Some of the VC here have grenades and they love to throw them at you so you'll
fail the mission if you stay in the open around the gate. This is why I
recommend staying under the roofed area near the turret.

If any VC come your way you can kill them, otherwise let your troops handle the
job. Once you manage to hold off the VC for a little while longer here you
should hear a message about being able to hold the base. After your hear this
message the stage ends, the next stage is the final one.

--------------------------------------
Stage 30: Under Siege - The Last Stand
--------------------------------------

It looks like you've got real enemy tanks to deal with for the first time in
the game, so get ready! The key to this stage is crawling, if you crouch you
can still be killed in some spots and of course standing up is downright
foolish.

Head through the door east of you and start crawling through the right
trenches. Shoot a pair of VC up ahead when you see smoke, then take the right
path at the fork as you kill another VC.

Make sure you stay close to the left wall here because a hidden VC can kill you
from far away if you're not careful. Approach the fork ahead and kill a VC on
your right, then take the right path as you kill a pair of VC.

At the next fork you want to head left as you take out a VC in the trenches and
another up above by some sandbags. Now crawl towards the tank as you kill
another VC beyond it, then crawl under the tank up ahead and place C4 on the
underside of the bridge that it's on (press enter) to end the mission and
complete the game!

                                 (H) GLITCHES
###############################################################################

As of this writing (V1.30 of the game) the game still has a number of glitches.
Most of them simply produce strange effects like lack of textures on objects
for example. Others however are much more annoying and can cause the game to
crash to the desktop or cause your computer to restart.

If you are experiencing glitches your best bet is to make sure you meet the
requirements for the game first, otherwise make sure your video card and sound
card drivers are up to date [as well as making sure that the game is patched
to the most recent version].

If you still encounter problems like the game crashing between or during stages
you can download game saves from the link below, and either use them to try the
same stage or the one right after it.

http://www.vietcong-game.net/index2.php?kategorie=downloads/saves

Failing all these methods all you can really do is wait for an updated patch to
be released for the game.

The game itself is VERY good, it's just still pretty buggy at the moment and
that's really annoying.

That being said I will not answer any questions regarding glitches, bugs and
crashes that you experience. Instead you should direct your browser to the
following links:

http://www.gathering.com/forums/index.php
Here you can register on the official Vietcong message board and mention your
problem directly.

http://www.take2games.com/index.php?p=support_contact
Here you can learn how to capture the necessary info about your bug/glitch and
email a report straight to those that can help.

***IMPORTANT!***

THE MORE AWARE & INFORMED THE DEVELOPERS ARE ABOUT THESE GLITCHES, THE FASTER
THEY WILL BE FIXED!

                                (J) EXPERIMENTAL
###############################################################################

For a little while now I've had a paypal link in all my FAQs at the very bottom
here. Mainly as a small experiment since a few other FAQ authors have also had
the same idea.

I had a few people email me before I put this link in because they wanted to
send money, so it's here for those people.

For the record I've received about $87 (which works out to a bit more in
Canadian lol) last I checked, so I've been getting cases of pop and making some
excellent progress on a few FAQs.

If you don't want to send money or can't then send me an email, it's nice to
hear what people thought about my work and there's always room for improvement.

My email address is fecalord (AT) gmail (DOT) com, and the paypal address is
listed below.

For those that want to contribute, you can use paypal at the following address:

Many thanks, and I hope you continue to use my work!
