Mortal Kombat 3
Review by Aristotle
"I hated this game, unusual for me, considering that it's an MK game."
Mortal Kombat for the PC was one of my least favorite games. The main reason for this was because I had a really crappy computer and couldn't get a new one, but alsao because it was a cheap game with horrible AI. And I normally don't care about sound and music, but I'll make an exception in this case; it was all horrible!
The Graphics were pretty good, actually; they were crisp, clear, and extremely colorful. the characters were well-rendered, and considering the technology they had when making the game, this was a very well-done job on the video.
The Sound and Music were horrible. Not only was my computer all screwed up, but the game itself was bad, too. The screams of all the characters were terrible, it made me want to beat the speakers!!! And the music was horrible too, or maybe the lack thereof. My computer's sound system was messed up, too, and that prohibited the music from playing, for some reason. The sounds that all of the characters made, every single one, got extremely annoying, also.
The Difficulty, like all Mortal Kombat games, is hard. I don't think the difficulty select makes a difference either, because the game just stays the same and then gets harder every time. I hated this game because it was so incredibly cheap. I was playing Sub-Zero, and almost killed him, except for the last fifteen seconds when he launched his famous 7-hit, 40% combo that instantly killed me. I really don't appreciate games with difficulty like this, you can tell that they took almost no time whatsoever when designing the difficulty for this game.
The Story was horrible, also. It was the same, overdone story they used, are using, and are going to use with all Mortal Kombat games. If you have any clue what Mortal Kombat is, you should know what I'm talking about. There could have been sooooooo much more work with the story it is not funny.
The Controls were mediocre, the only ones that made sense were the arrow keys. Then you got into stuff like 1 was punch, 2 was kick, 3 was high punch, 4 was high kick, and so on. It was all very confusing, but I got used to it in about a week.
Overall, I was very disapointed with Mortal Kombat 3, at least for the PC; I played the SNES version and it ruled. Oh, one more thing; there are no cheat codes for it! There are those things where you press the buttons at the versus screen, but they're impossible, and I can never do them. This game was a desperate attempt by Midway to make the Mortal Kombat name live on.
Graphics: 9/10
Sound/Music: 5/10
Difficulty: 3/10
Story: 2/10
Controls: 7/10
Overall: 4/10 (not an average)
Final Thought: If you want to get a Mortal Kombat game, go with Trilogy for the Playstation, or at least MK3 for the Super Nintendo. Don't even think about Mortal Kombat 3 for the PC.
