"Doesn't quite measure up to the SNES version..."

Mega Man X was the first game of its series. The blue bomber has been a legendary character for over 15 years. Mega Man X marked the start of the grand ''X'' series by Capcom. Mega Man is probably the biggest video game series the world has ever known. With over 50 games and rising, Mega Man is the greatest video game legend out there. Mega Man X for SNES was a huge hit. In 1995, it was ported to the PC by a company other than Capcom. While not as good as the SNES version, the PC version has a lot of unique features.

GAMEPLAY: 8/10
The gameplay remains about just as good as the SNES version's. However, there is one huge thing that was removed in the PC version. X can no longer ride in Robot Walkers. Therefore, the gameplay is somewhat different. Another difference in the PC version is that the game is generally harder due to the fact that some robots seem to take less damage than in the SNES version. I actually see this as a good thing since I found the SNES version to be quite easy. You can also obtain all the items in the game early by using a special code. However, I will not reveal it to you, because there would be no fun in playing the game, now would there?

SOUND/MUSIC: 7/10
First of all, the sound effects remained unchanged from the SNES version. I really liked this because it gives the game a more classic feeling. On the other hand, the music was not so great. It was all remixed music from the SNES version. While not nearly as good as the original soundtrack, the music in this game was not so bad. I still think that the creators should have just left the music alone, though. Nothing else to really say here.

GRAPHICS: 10/10
This is where the game shines. The graphics remain completely unchanged from the SNES version. Everything looks very well done. This includes the bosses, enemies, characters, text, and especially the backgrounds of the stages. All the animations remain the same. Although playing on a flatscreen will greatly enhance the graphics and animations. This is one advantage to owning the game on a PC.

REPLAYABILTY: 9/10
Mega Man X will have you addicted for quite a while. With its outstanding graphics, music, and gameplay, this title will win any gamer over. It's extremely fun to play over and over. I never get bored of it. Any Mega Man fan will want to own this game. However, it can be extremely hard to find on the PC, as this version is very rare.

FINAL RECOMMENDATION
I have to say this. If you own both a PC and an SNES and don't know which version to get, get the SNES version. It is much easier to find on the Internet than the PC version. Although the PC version has some cool features like saving your game and being able to obtain all the items instantly, it just doesn't compare to the SNES version. But if you just own a PC, this game is a must-have.
