I ABOUT THIS FAQ
•============================================================================•
Having only played this game at my friends' houses, I never really got any
good experience or anything about this game, all I really knew was that I
liked it. When I had gotten my own laptop, 3D Space Cadet Pinball was
installed. I started playing it and doing some research about it and I
realized just how bad I was at it. So I found a website where I could download
this game onto my PC, which I did. Over the next few weeks my skill increased
greatly and I started to get this game down really well. Besides just finding
out that I sucked, I also realized there were no good FAQ devoted towards this
game (there was one, but it was just the help menu reworded and formatted). So
I decided to come out of my FAQ writing dormancy and write this bad boy.

Version 0.03: All of the walk-through is now completed. The scoring
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ sections of the FAQ will still need to be completed.
Likewise descriptions for parts of the table will also need
to be added. The Frequently Asked questions portion of the
FAQ is also completed now - First attempt at submission.
_____________
Version 0.02: 3/5 of the main walk-through completed. However I still need
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ to get the scoring sections done, which will not be hard,
rather long. Also have to get the Table Parts section of
Game Basics completed. Right now I have 14 / 55 total object
written down. This will be the hardest part to complete.
_____________
Version 0.01: First started on this FAQ. I got all of the preliminary
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ sections done, and parts of the smaller sections completed.
It will probably be another update or so before it is in
presentable form.

Pinball Basics
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
For those of you who have never played pinball before, here is a brief
overview of the concept of any and all pinball games. The basic concept of
pinball is to keep a little metal ball on a sloped plane for as long as
possible. This is done by using a sets of flippers, (two on the bottom, and
sometimes another set located at the top of the board) to hit the ball back up
the slope. While the ball is in play, it will hit different objects (there are
usually bumpers, ramps, holes and pads) which in one way or the other add to
the point total of the player. Along with just hitting those objects, many of
them present challenges to be attempted, and if they are completed, the player
gets rewarded with bonus points, extra balls, more challenges or even a
greater playing field in some of the more advanced games. Most pinball
consoles give the player three balls per game, some give five. During these
balls, the player must achieve as high of a score as possible. When the
players final ball is lost, the game is over and if the score is high enough,
the player will give his initials to the game and will displayed on the score
board until higher scores are achieved and that score gets knocked off of the
High Score board.

3D Space Cadet Pinball Basics
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
3D Space Cadet Pinball was designed by Maxis, a company which is known best
for its "The Sims" series, and is made for the Windows. It was first installed
on the Windows 2000, but is compatible to any of the other windows versions.
With 3D Space Cadet Pinball (which I will refer to as 3D pinball from this
point forth), you get three balls and is played on a regular pinball table.
You can see a picture of the table in the same file folder as you can the game
itself. I will use this picture as a reference point in some different
locations in my FAQ
_____
Rules
¯¯¯¯¯
With 3D Pinball you start out at the very beginning level and you must work
your way up through each level until you eventually save the galaxy, just like
every true Space Cadet. Here are the rankings that you must go through in
order to get enough skill to save the doomed galaxy.....
•====================•===================•
|| Rank Number ||| Rank Title ||
•====================•===================•
| Starting Rank | |
•--------------------+-------------------•
| Secondary Rank | Ensign |
•--------------------+-------------------•
| Third Rank | Lieutenant |
•--------------------+-------------------•
| Fourth Rank | Captain |
•--------------------+-------------------•
| Fifth Rank | Lt Commander |
•--------------------+-------------------•
| Sixth Rank | Commander |
•--------------------+-------------------•
| Seventh Rank | Commodore |
•--------------------+-------------------•
| Eight Rank | Admiral |
•--------------------+-------------------•
| Final Rank | Fleet Admiral |
•====================•===================•
In order to get promoted from one ranking to the next you must complete a
total of three missions in your current ranking. Once this has been achieved
you will be promoted. Promotions to the next level are permanent, meaning you
will never be demoted, even if you loose one of your balls.
________
Missions
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
In order to be promoted, you must complete missions. To complete missions, you
must first activate the missions to do this you must hit the Mission Targets,
which are number 16 on the picture, and are on the left side of the table
about halfway up.
You only need to hit one of the targets to activate a mission, an alternate
mission is available if you hit two of the targets, and a third mission is
available if you have all three targets lit up.
After you hit one of those targets, you must go up the Launch Ramp, which is
the ramp on the left side of the table, and number 9 on the picture. As soon
as the ball goes through the top portion of the ramp, your mission will be
activated. On a side note, you do not need to do each of the three missions if
every level to advance. You may do the same mission three times, or any
combination of the three.

T A B L E P A R T S
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
____________
Fuel Targets The fuel targets are located on the top-left portion of the
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ table. They are in the circular cove area. When all three
targets are hit, your spacecraft gets refueled.
The three fuel targets are labeled number one on the picture.
______________
Attack Bumpers Attack bumpers are located in the top center section of the
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ table and in the circular cove section by the fuel targets.
In the center of the table there are three bumpers placed
in a triangular pattern. The attack bumpers, when hit add
to your point total and bounces the ball towards the
opposite direction. When played correctly with the table
bump, one can use the attack bumpers greatly to their
advantage.
The four attack bumpers are labeled two and thirty-two on
the picture.
________
Wormhole There are three wormholes on the table. One is in the upper-left
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ portion of the table that faces the number two attack bumper and
the fuel targets. The second wormhole is in the upper right
section of the table and faces the number thirty-two attack
bumpers. The third and final wormhole is located in the center of
the table on the right hand side. It is facing the two flippers.
When a ball enters any of the wormholes, you will get a small
bonus, and then the ball will be launched from the same hole it
entered. However, if you hit the Space Warp target (number
thirty-four) the ball will warp, through space, to a different
wormhole and then be launched from that one.
The three wormholes are labeled two, twenty-eight, and forty-one
on the picture of the table.
________________________
Field Multiplier Targets The three field multiplier targets are located on
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ the back side of the number two wormhole, and is
up and to the left of the highest one of the
three attack bumpers.
To activate the field multiplier targets, you
must have the ball hit all three of the targets.
If you do this one time, every score that you get
will be doubled, outside of mission completion
bonuses. After knocking down the third target,
you have thirty seconds before this status
degenerates. However, if you are able to knock
down the three targets again within that same
thirty second time limit, then you will be
awarded with a Field Multiplier X3 bonus. If you
achieve this you have another thirty seconds
before the multiplier goes back down to double.
Just like before though, if you are able to knock
down the three targets within those thirty
seconds, then you will get a Field Multiplier X5
bonus. If you are lucky enough to knock down the
targets again, then you will be awarded with an
amazing Field Multiplier X10 bonus.
The field multiplier targets are labeled number
4 on the picture of the table.
___________________
Space Warp Rollover The space warp rollover is just left of the Field
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Multiplier Targets, it looks just like a circle on the
board with no real purpose to it. Often times you will
hit this and you do not even know that you do, or what
it does.
The only time when the Space Warp Rollover does
anything besides add a few cheap points to your score
is if you have it the Space Warp Target (number
thirty-four). The Space Warp Rollover also reopens one
of the Return Lanes (numbers twenty-one and fourty-
eight)
The Space Warp Rollover is found as number five on the
table picture.
__________________
Hazard Target Bank There are three hazard target banks on the left side of
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ the table. They are to the left of the three attack
bumpers and just under the Space Warp rollover.
If you are able to hit all three of the targets then
the left kicker will be reopened.
On the picture, the Hazard Target Bank is number six.
____
Flag There are two sets of flags located on the board. One set is on the
¯¯¯¯ right side of the board towards the top of the Hyperspace Chute
(number 30). The other flag is on the left side of the board at the
very top of the lane where you get your ship refueled.
There are two things that the flags do. One is give you a quick and
easy increase of points. The second is, if you have the Space Warp
Target Light (number 34) activated, then a light will change beneath
the flag to either yellow, red, or green. Which ever color is lit up
when you enter a wormhole, that is the wormhole the ball will come
out of.
The flags are numbers seven and thirty-three on the picture.
___________
Launch Ramp The launch ramp is located on the left side of the board. It
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ is the most noticeable of any of the ramps or chutes on the
table.
The launch ramp is used quite often during the course of the
game. The main purpose of it, however, is to activate
missions. After you have hit the Mission Targets (number 16)
launch the ball up the Launch Ramp. You should then receive
your mission briefing, at which point you can go onto the
mission.
The Launch Ramp is marked as number eight on the picture.
___________________
Black Hole Kick Out The Black Hole Kick Out is located underneath the
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Launch Ramp. It is very hard to enter, and does not
serve much of a purpose for a large percentage of the
game.
There are only two times when you will actually want
to enter the Black Hole Kick Out. Once is when it is
necessary to complete the mission that you are on. The
second time is if you have gotten the Extra Ball
activated and have a minute to get the ball to go down
one of the return lanes (numbers 21 and 48) due to the
fact that a large percentage of the time the ball will
be launched into one of those lanes. However, if you
do get the ball in the Black Hole Kick Out and do not
wish for it to go into one of the lanes, then simply
bump the table right as the ball is about to be
launched and you should not have to worry about the
loss of your ball.
You will find that the Black Hole Kick Out is labeled
as number nine on the picture.
___________
Fuel Lights The Fuel Lights are just to the left of the Black Hole Kickout
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ and go under the Launch Ramp. There are a total of six lights,
each one representing one sixth of your total fuel that you
have on the ship.
For the most part, you should not have to worry about the Fuel
Lights, often times you will refuel your ship without knowing
you have done it. They get refueled all of the way every time
you go through the Launch Ramp as well as many other ways.
However, if you are running low on precious resource, simply
launch the ball over the lights and you will refuel the ship
for every light you go over. The only time when the fuel
becomes a burden is if you are on a mission for a while and
are running low on it. If this happens, you must refuel the
ship before you lose it all, thus causing the mission to be
aborted and time wasted.
The Fuel Lights are marked as number 10 on the picture.
____________
Launch Lanes To get to the launch lanes, you must first send the ball up
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ the launch ramp. Once it is in there, the ball will go
through one of the three different launch lanes. If you are
able to get all three of the launch lanes lit then you will
upgrade the launch bumpers.
The only real purpose the launch lanes serve in this game is
for a goal in some of the missions. However, you do get a
slight bonus in points if you are able to upgrade the launch
bumpers. If you are going for high scores - which I believe
you are - do not worry about the launch bumpers.
If you are looking at the picture, you will find the launch
bumpers at number eleven.
_________________
Reflex Shot Light The reflex shot lights can be found when looking at both
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ the Hyper-space chute and the Launch Ramp. They are the
first blue triangular light pointing to their respective
ramp.
The reflex shot light - or rather the shot itself - can
be quite useful for getting high scores. If you are able
to get your field muliplier up to 10x, then you will be
able to score a quick million in just a few seconds if
you are using the Hyper-space chute, and that only
include the Reflex shot awards that you will be
receiving. If you are able to use the Reflex shot award
to your advantage, then you will be able to get some
serious scores.
The reflex shot lights are located at numbers 12 and 36
on the picture of the table.
_______________
Time Warp Light The time warp lights are found right below either one of
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ the Reflex shot lights. They, like the Reflex shot lights
are blue, triangular, and point to either the Hyper-space
chute or the Launch Ramp.
The only time when the time warp lights come on is when
you have completed the Time Warp mission. The only purpose
they serve is allowing you to get to a mission that is a
level higher than where you are at, or lower. They serve
very little purpose in the game. In fact, almost every
person who plays this game will never see these lights on
during the game.
The time warp lights can be found as numbers 13 and 37 on
the picture.

_______________
Secret Mission: To complete this mission you must get the ball into every
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ one of the worm holes in a specific order. The order is as
follows... Yellow -- Red -- Green. After you have done
this you will get a nice 1 500 000 point upgrade and ten
progress lights for your effort.
______________
Cosmic Plague: This mission is one of the easiest missions in the game, and
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ you get some of the best rewards for completing it. All you
have to do is send the ball up either the Fuel Launch Lane,
or up the Hyperspace Chute enough times to have the flags
rotate 75 times. Doing this will pay you 1 750 000 points
and a total of eleven progress lights.
__________
Time Warp: The requirement for this mission is one that entitles you with
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ the responsibility of hitting the rebounds 25 times. Once you do
this you are then forced to send the ball up the launch ramp or
the hyper-space kickout ramp. If you send the ball into the
hyper-space kickout ramp, then you will loose your rank.
However, if you send it up the launch ramp, you will go onto the
next level. Either way, once you complete the missions you will
receive twelve progress lights.
__________
Maelstrom: This is one of the most complicated missions in the game,
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ however if you are lucky enough to get this far and beat it,
then the rewards with be almost endless.
To begin this mission you must hit any spot target three times.
After that you must send the ball down one of the lanes for a
total of five times. Third, you must send the ball up the fuel
chute. Next, the launch ramp must have the ball sent through
it. Then you must send the ball through one of the flags. After
that you must get the ball into one of the wormholes. Finally
you have to get the ball into the hyper-space kickout.
Once you complete this mission every light one the board will
be turned on leaving a huge opportunity to get some seriously
high scores. On top of that you will receive 5 000 000 points,
and if that is not good enough - you will get eighteen progress
lights.
