    Welcome to 'Police Quest 3: The Kindred' for the PC, an adventure game by
    Sierra released in 1991. The game was also released on the Amiga. It follows
    the storyline of the first two games which you should play first to fully enjoy
    the story. However, it is still entirely possibly to find enjoyment by playing
    this game without knowing the first two titles.
    
    The walkthrough for this game is complete and includes a point list. By
    following the walkthrough you will also get all possible points in the game.
    Having said that, the highest score is 450 and NOT 460 as the game makes it
    seem, there is an additional note about this later on. If you spot any errors

    The number in the ()s is the amount of points you get during the game and the
    total amount you should have if you have been collecting all the points as
    described in the walkthrough. All the points are listed again in the point
    list for a quick overview. 
    
    There are serious timing errors in this game if you are playing on a modern PC
    so try using an emulator such as DosBox, play on an older PC (486) or better
    yet find the unofficial SCI fixes that will sort out most problems. If none of
    the above are an option for you it might make the game unplayable.
    
    Driving in Police Quest 3 is different than the first game, including the VGA
    version. You control the car in the mini-view on the right. GAS is for
    speeding up and BRK is for slowing down. You see the speed on the digital
    speedometer near your steering wheel. Speeding is not an issue as in breaking
    the law in this game, but often you need to stop manually or turn quickly
    which is not easy at high speeds and it is impossible to turn when you drive
    faster than 55 miles per hour!! You turn by clicking the left and right arrows
    at the openings you see. If you are too late or not accurate the car will
    simply continue straight on even if there is a wall. STOP AHEAD means you
    absolutely must stop before the line or face a 5 point penalty. Don't worry
    as these are only where you must turn left or right so you once you have
    stopped your car you can click on the direction you want to go to drive off
    once again. To get to a location you have to bring your card to a stop at the
    sign and simply walk out of the car. If you haven't driven off automatically
    like at the PD you will need to use the ignition key. The siren is the red
    switch in plain sight and the tracker is the small device near the top. You
    can switch this on anytime to get a rough map of the city but is only useful
    for actually tracking a car you have tagged.

    Lytton PD:

    At the start go into the Sergeant's room on the left hand side of the corridor
    and take the disciplinary form from the in/out basket on your desk (1, 1).
    Leave the office and go around the corridor to the right side of the floor.
    Walk through the open door to the meeting room and talk to Officer Morales in
    the center (1, 2). Pick up the clipboard hanging on the podium to hold the
    briefing (1, 3). Return to your office an watch the scene with Morales.
    Afterwards select SUSTAINED for the form (5, 8). Pick up the access card
    requisition form from the basket on your desk (1, 9) and leave the office. Push
    the button on the elevator and ride up to the 3rd floor. Hand the form to Mike
    sitting at his desk (4, 13) and take the access card (1, 14). Return to the 2nd
    floor and wait in the corridor until you are asked to call dispatch. Walk into
    your office and use the phone on the desk. Pick up the receiver and press the
    dispatch button. Leave the office and ride the elevator to the 1st floor. Walk
    into the Men's locker room and open your locker with the combination 776 (1,
    15). Take the nightstick (1, 16), notebook (1, 17) and the flashlight (1, 18).
    Leave and open the storage closet opposite the locker rooms. Take some flares
    (3, 21) and a couple of batteries (5, 26). Place the batteries into the
    flashlight (2, 28) and ride the elevator down to the ground floor. Drive the
    squad car to Aspen Falls. It is located south east so take road you are on
    southbound until you hit the river and then go far east until the sign Aspen
    Falls appears. Stop and get out.
    
    
    Aspen Falls:
    ````````````
    Talk to the lady with the child and then walk right into the next screen. Speak
    to the lunatic and try to grab him. Search his clothes (2, 30). Throw the found
    key into the lake (3, 33) and quickly defend yourself against the man with the
    nightstick (5, 38). Cuff Forbes (5, 43) and search his underwear at the car (5,
    48). Drive back to the PD.
    
    
    Lytton PD:
    ``````````
    Open the locker and place the gun inside (2, 50). Place Forbes' drivers
    license (2, 52) and knife (2, 54) in the drawer. Select the door to book him
    for 05150 (1, 55). Exit and unlock the drawer with the key, then take your gun
    back (1, 56) and drive off.
    
    
    Freeway:
    ````````
    Drive up the ramp to Highway 41 and you will automatically stop at the spot
    where Morales is waiting. Look at her ID plate. Talk to Morales, then the
    pregnant woman (2, 58) and finally Morales again. Select SIGNATURE (5, 63) and
    drive off again.
    
    Continue driving up and down the freeway to have more events occur. You will
    need to pass the end of the freeway and turn around for the next event to
    happen. As you slow down automatically once a suspicious vehicle is in sight
    feel free to cruise along at 100 miles per hour to speed things up. The events
    are somewhat random.
    
    The slow-moving car will hold back other vehicles so drive in the other lane
    and switch on the siren. Stay back at a 45 degree angle and match the speed. If
    done correctly the slow vehicle will pull over and let the others pass. Note
    the time that appears! Walk around the car at the right hand side and approach
    the car from the front, NOT the back or you'll be hit by cars on the freeway.
    Talk to the man. Return to your vehicle and insert the drivers license into the
    computer. Select FORM 900 and input the correct time that was displayed
    earlier. Also input the vehicle code 21654 to print the correct ticket (5, 68).
    Grab the ticket and get out. Walk over to Juan Ruiz around the right side again
    and give him the ticket. Return to your car and drive off.
    
    The black speeding car is a sheriff so drive up behind him without the siren
    and look at the licence plate. Use your computer and input the plate number.
    Quit the computer and pull back to the right lane and slow down a little to let
    the sheriff continue his speeding (5, 73).
    
    The white Mercedes is speeding. Drive behind it and use the siren to pull it
    over. Note the time that appears. Go around the right side of the car and talk
    to the drive from the front. Return to the police car and insert the drivers
    license into the computer. Select FORM 900 and input the time you just saw and
    the vehicle code 22349 (5, 78). Grab the ticket and get out. Walk over to
    Orpheus Hanley around the right side again and give him the ticket. Return to
    you car and drive off.
    
    You see an erratically driven car. Turn on the siren and pull it over. Go
    around the right side of the car and talk to the driver twice (2, 80). Move the
    index finger right and left until he throws up. Search the man (5, 85) and cuff
    him (5, 90). Move him back into the car and get in yourself. Drive back to the
    PD.
    
    
    Lytton PD:
    ``````````
    Open the locker and insert your gun. Walk through into the jail and uncuff the
    man. Use the chromatograph. Switch it on with the red flip and then use the
    tube to test. Take the test results (5, 95). Now click on the drawer to empty
    his pockets (2, 97). Click on the door to book the man for 23152 (5, 102).
    Leave, unlock the drawer and take your gun back. Ride the elevator to the 2nd
    floor and enter your office. Use the phone, pick up the receiver and call
    dispatch. Get up and exit the office. Leave the office and ride the elevator
    back to the ground floor. Enter your car to drive to the Oak Tree Mall.
    
    
    Oak Tree Mall:
    ``````````````
    When you arrive, take the chain Marie is holding (5, 107) before you leave to
    the hospital. Leave the room to return to the mall. Talk to the reporter before
    he leaves to get his card (3, 110). Use the flashlight on the ground and walk
    around at the right side of the car until you see the bronze object. Pick up
    the bronze star (5, 115) and look at it in your inventory. Get in the squad car
    to finish the day.

                            DAY 2

    Home:
    `````
    Take the music box off the shelf in the closet (5, 120). Leave the room at the
    south side of the window.
    
    
    Lytton PD:
    ``````````
    Ride the elevator to the 2nd floor and enter the homicide office. Talk to the
    officers until they mention giving the reporter a call so use the phone on the
    desk in the middle, pick up the receiver and dial 555-0707 (5, 125). Use the
    computer and insert the access card. Select HOMICIDE and then SERIAL #. Enter
    09987 to get another case number (5, 130). Press QUIT and leave the office.
    Ride the elevator to the ground floor and enter the garage. Hand over the
    bronze star (5, 135) as well as the chain for case 199144. Return to the
    homicide office and use the computer again. Now select CASE REVIEW and enter
    199137, read the case. Enter 199124 and read the case. Then enter 199144 and
    read the case. Quit the computer. By now Sonny should call it a day and drive
    to the hospital automatically.
    
    
    Lytton General:
    ```````````````
    First, walk into the flower shop and talk to the lady when her picture comes
    up. Pay for the rose (5, 140) and talk to the receptionist (1, 141). Ride the
    elevator to Marie's room. Give her the music box (5, 146), rose (5, 151),
    and finally kiss her (10, 161). Leave the hospital to complete this day.

                            DAY 3

    Lytton PD:

    Ride the elevator up to the 2nd floor and enter the homicide office. Take the
    memo from the in/out basket on your desk (1, 162). Leave the office and ride
    the elevator back to the ground floor. Drive the car to 235 South Second Street
    which is 2nd between Poppy and River. Just stop and get out of the car when you
    are in the area.
    
    
    235 South Second Street:
    ````````````````````````
    Talk to the lady bum and show her your badge (3, 165). Handcuff the shopping
    cart to the nearby pipes (5, 170).
    
    
    Lytton PD:
    ``````````
    Take the lunch bag and give it to Reed (5, 175). Talk to her about the suspect
    and use the computer. Select TOOLS and the DRAWING COMPOSITE. For each facial
    part, change them until Reed says they are ok. If she doesn't say anything,
    click on the next part and quickly back to the one you just had so she makes a
    comment. When they are all ok, click on SEARCH to find the suspect's name (20,
    195). Click on Reed to drive her back.
    
    
    235 South Second Street:
    ````````````````````````
    Uncuff the cart (2, 197). Get back to your cart and follow the dialogue. At the
    mall you simply have to wait but it might be faster if you get out of the car
    and back in. Once Morales returns the day is complete.

                            DAY 4
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    
    Lytton PD:
    ``````````
    Ride the elevator to the 2nd floor and go into the homicide office. Read the
    subpoena on your desk (1, 198). Leave the office and ride the elevator to the
    3rd floor. Open mike's desk and take the tracking device (5, 203). Ride down to
    the ground floor and open the police car. Inside, open the glove department and
    take the calibration chart (5, 208). Take the other car to lytton court.
    
    
    Lytton Court:
    `````````````
    Walk through the entrance and watch the scenes. When the attorney asks you
    questions answer him and then hand over the calibration chart (3, 211).
    
    
    Oak Tree Mall:
    ``````````````
    Pat will leave the car so quickly take her key (5, 216) and exit the car. Go
    over to Zak's shop and show him the key. Pay him with your wallet (5, 221) and
    get back to the car. Quickly return the key to Pat's purse before she comes
    back (1, 222) and then drive off. You'll get a call and have to drive to the
    corner of 3rd and West. Simply stop and get out.
    
    
    300 West Rose:
    ``````````````
    After Pat has finished taking pictures, open the trunk of your car and take out
    the three tools in the briefcase. Close the trunk and look at the body in the
    dumpster. Use the toothpicks to scrape skin and hair samples from the
    fingernails (5, 227). Life the T-shirt and use the notebook on the pentagram on
    the chest (5, 232). Search the jeans for his ID (5, 237) and exit this view.
    Look at the windscreen of the car and then the back of it. Scrape off some gold
    paint with the scraper (5, 242) and enter your car to leave the scene.
    
    
    Lytton PD:
    ``````````
    Go to the 2nd floor and enter the homicide office. Read the note on your desk
    (1, 243) and use the computer with the access card. Select HOMICIDE and CREATE
    CASE (1, 244). Use the key on Morales' desk and read the note (10, 254). On
    the ground floor and book the hair and skin samples (5, 259) as well as the
    gold paint (5, 264). Drive to the hospital and get out.
    
    
    Lytton General:
    ```````````````
    Ride up the elevator and look at Marie's chart. Look at Marie and check her IV
    dosage meter. Use the call button on the wall and wait for the nurse to come
    in. Talk to her and the doctor will change the IV dosage (15, 279). Leave the
    hospital to end the forth day.

                            DAY 5

    Lytton PD:
    ``````````
    Ride the elevator up to the 2nd floor and go into the homicide office. Read the
    bulletin board (3, 282) and use the computer with your access card. Read case
    #199145. Use the TOOLS and CITY MAP. Plot the crime scenes at River and 6th,
    Palm between 3rd and 4th, Rose between 9th and 10th, Rose between 2nd and 3rd,
    and complete the circle with the location at Palm between 8th and 9th. Use the
    second menu option to draw lines so connect all the dots to draw a pentagram.
    When done correctly you'll know (10, 292). Quit the computer and call dispatch
    once you pick up the receiver (5, 297). Leave the office and go around the
    corridor to the right and enter the psychologist office. Read the file on this
    desk (5, 302) and exit the PD. Drive to Palm between 8th and 9th and get out.
    
    
    200 East Palm:
    ``````````````
    Look at the gold car and take out your evidence kit from the trunk. Scrape
    some paint off the car (5, 307) and plant the tracking device (10, 317). Go
    inside the Old Nugget bar and wait with the gun icon. Once a second billiard
    player walks in and plays he will go to the side opposite you are standing of
    across the table. Use the gun on yourself and wait until he shoots. Quickly
    shoot back (5, 322) and watch the scene.
    
    Freeway:
    ````````
    Start the car, the siren and the tracking device monitor. Drive up to the
    freeway to arrive at the crash scene (5, 327). Use the flares on the highway
    (5, 332). Look at the victim and take the keys from the ignition. Use the key
    on the trunk and take the cocaine bags (5, 337).
    
    
    Lytton PD:
    ``````````
    Place the crime scene tools back in the trunk and go into the evidence lockup.
    Book the paint sample for case 199145. Ride the elevator to the 2nd floor and
    go into the homicide office. Read the note on your desk (1, 338) and exit the
    PD. Drive to the hospital.
    
    
    Lytton General:
    ```````````````
    Ride the elevator up to Marie's room, and then leave the hospital to end the
    day.

    Ride the elevator up to the 2nd floor and go into the homicide office. Talk
    to Captain Tate and leave the room as well. Ride down to the 1st floor and
    enter the men's changing room. Grab the toilet paper and chuck it in the 
    toilet bowl (5, 343). Talk to the janitor in the corridor (3, 346) and enter
    the women's changing room. Open Morales' locker with the code 386 and look at
    the cocaine (10, 356). Return to the 2nd floor and talk to Captain Tate in the
    homicide office (5, 361). Get in your car at the ground floor and drive to the
    coroner.
    
    
    Lytton Coroner:
    ```````````````
    Take the envelope lying on the table (2, 363) and look at it in your inventory
    (this includes the locket). Go through the frozen bodies and check their tags
    until the coroner comes in. You will automatically go to Lytton General.
    
    
    Lytton General:
    ```````````````
    Give Marie the locket, then return to the car and drive to the corner of Peach
    and 1st.
    
    
    500 West Peach:
    ```````````````
    Wait for the firemen to extinguish the fire and then talk to the man close by.
    Open your trunk and get the tools from the briefcase. Go inside and take the
    photograph from the floor in the center (5, 368). Go through the corridor into
    the next room and scrape some blood off the floor (5, 373). Return the tools
    to the briefcase and enter the car.
    
    
    Oak Tree Mall:
    ``````````````
    Exit the car and enter the army recruitment center. Show your ID to the
    officer (3, 376) and then show the picture (3, 379). Take the printout from
    the printer (3, 382) and return to your car.
    
    
    Lytton PD:
    ``````````
    Book the blood sample for case number 199144 and ride the elevator to the 2nd
    floor. Enter the psychologist's office and show him the printout (5, 387).
    Return to the ground floor and enter your car. Drive to Palms between Parkway
    and 1st.
    
    
    522 West Palms:
    ```````````````
    When you arrive (5, 392), knock at the door (5, 397) and get back into the car.
    Drive to the courthouse.
    
    
    Lytton Court:
    `````````````
    Walk up the stairs and show the photograph to the judge. Show her the newspaper
    article you received from the coroner (5, 402) and pick up the warrant from the
    desk (3, 405). Exit and drive back to 522 West Palms.
    
    
    522 West Palms:
    ```````````````
    Knock at the door again (5, 410) and get back to the car. Off to the courthouse
    once more.
    
    
    Lytton Court:
    `````````````
    Talk to the judge and pick up the judicial ramming order (5, 415). Get back
    into the car and drive to the crack house again.
    
    
    522 West Palms:
    ```````````````
    Position yourself at the left of the door and draw the gun. Click it on you to
    get access. Inside, shoot the man rolling in at the left side behind the couch
    (10, 425). Handcuff Bains (5, 430) and search the couch for a remote control
    (5, 435). Use it on the TV and press '8' (5, 440). Go through the new opening
    and draw your gun. Walk to the left side with the barrels and then back to
    staircase. Quickly shoot the 2nd man (10, 450) to end the game.
