Street Fighter Alpha
Review by Zamble
"As good as in the Arcade"
Capcom has released a PC version of this fighting game some time ago. The game is a perfect conversion from the Arcade, and it's even better in some aspects. All the characters are there, and selecting the secret ones (M.Bison, Akuma and Dan)are much easier to select (just hold the "3x punch", "3x kick" or the Spacebar and press any attack button when the cursor is over the question mark). The game has many difficult levels and store your records in a special way: if you beat the game without being defeated once, you'll be recorded as a "Master" on the character you've chosen. The AI is not very smart. Computer-controled opponets never use Alpha counters and are not so tought, even in the hardest mode. Except Akuma, who is almost unbeatable in any level.
Gameplay: 10
The combo system is very flexible and you can create a lot of them. The figheters are in balance of power.
Graphics: 7
It's not in such a great resolution. Could be better
Sound: 8
The sound effects are well chosen, but it could have more voice effects.
Replay value: 10
As in other fighting games, it really depends on the player and if he has other persons who play with. Alone, it's challenging to try to master your favorite character and defeat Akuma. Too bad the only way to multiplay is on the same computer (maybe it's because this kind of game is so fast that the smallest lag can make it unplayeble. Or not...)
System Requeriments: Requires a 133 Mhz Pentium (166 Mhz recomended) and 24 mb of RAM. Unlike SFA 2, it runs very well in such conditions. Gamepad or Joysticks recomended (the game even support MS Sidewinder series).
