Deer Hunter
Review by Hiryuu
"The original Deer Hunter....pretty good"
Deer hunting has always been a big part of life. As I've grown up in rural Montana, just about everybody I know hunts deers, as it's a normal part of life in my part of the country. So it was only a matter of time before somebody released a game about hunting deer, and it turned out to be pretty good.
The object of Deer Hunter is to shoot down a deer. You get to choose from a variety of different hunting grounds, like a snowy place, an autumn place, and a summer place (I forgot all of their names). While hunting, you get to use either a rifle or a bow (there may be more, I forgot). The rifle is easier, so for a challenge you might want to pick the bow. Well, once you pick your hunting ground, you pick an area, and you hope that a deer comes by. You, of course, have a cover scent, deer call, and binoculars, but finding the deer is VERY tough. You might hunt for hours and not see a single deer. However, when you do find a deer, it's usually pretty easy to take it down. The game saes all your best deer ranked by size and rack.
The graphics of this game seem good, as the backgrounds look pretty good. However, when you meet a deer, it looks pretty horrible, but its all tolerable at least. The sound is what you'd expect when hunting, you hear birds chirping and so on, it's all pretty good, although the gun sounds could use a little work.
Overall, Deer Hunter is an excellent game that released many sequels, and many other comapanies tried to rip it off, but none of them could match the original. This is a good game to pick up, as you can play it for a few minutes whenever you want, and since you can save all your best deer, it adds replay value to it. Although it may be a little tough finding a deer, when you do, the game is fun, and you get a sense of accomplishment, like in real hunting. It's a pretty good game, but you might as well pick up one of its sequels.
