About visual novels
Divi-dead is a visual novel, which means it isn't played or experienced like a traditional game: there are no lives to lose, no bosses to fight, and no levels to beat in order to move on to the next stage. Instead, Divi-dead is not played so much as read. Your actions as a player are limited to picking what your character (in this case Ranmaru) will do next. The game responds to your choices by advancing the storyline and describing the results of those actions, which leads to more choices, and so forth. As long as you can read, you can play Divi-dead or any other visual novel.

While Divi-dead is best experienced with a mouse, players can use the keyboard alone to play through the story. The arrow keys will scroll the selection box in the appropriate direction, as will the 8, 4, 6 and 2 keys on the number pad. Pressing Enter or the space bar will confirm your selection. Holding down the CTRL key will scroll the messages faster (useful when restoring from a save point you haven't updated for a while). The Z key will open the Left Selection Box (used for saving, loading, restarting and quitting), while the X key opens the Right Selection Box (used to view the various CG images you've unlocked during your playthrough).
Saving images from the CG Gallery
While browsing the CG screens you've unlocked, using the Right Selection Box will allow you to save the screen you're currently viewing to a .bmp file for viewing outside the game.
