"Quite a fun platformer for the old-school lovers"
During old times, Platformer games ruled the videogame world. Since the revolution led by Mario, platformers where at the top. The 16-bit era was largely composed of such games. Although Dangerous Dave is no Mario, he stills provides a momentary amount of fun
The gameplay is simple. There are 9 stages, all bearing the same objective: unlock the door and get to the next level. To unlock the door, you need to collect the cup-shaped key. After getting the key, you are free to use the door to get to the next level. Other than the key, you can also collect crystals to gain points.
However, you have to jump your way around blocks, flames, spikes and enemies to get to the key, and then the door. The difficulty increases as you make your way through the game as the enemies increase in number, and the jumping becomes harder to perform.
All in all, the gameplay is challenging, and quite fun, but in this age of Ratchet and Crash Bandicoot, Dave is not the guy for people who think such games are childish.
In the modern day, these graphics are out-dated and ancient. Such 2-D 16-bit graphics are plain and boring to the new eyes who are growing up on Halo and Zelda. But these are in no way ugly, just plain.
If you think that graphics make a game, then this is not the game for you.
As you probably know, such games dont have a story, as the objective is simple: HAVE FUN!
Replay Value: 5/10
As you probably have guessed, this is a very linear game. After you beat the 9 stages, which are very short to start with, you may beat the game again...and then again, but you'll probably get bored after your second playthrough.
You can just download this game for free by searching for it on google, and it's only 750 KB, so you have nothing to lose by downloading it.
