 If you’re confused with everything that’s going on in that screen of 
yours, and you have no idea what’s going on, you don’t need to look any 
further.

 1. Map and Radar/Sonar
  
   This displays the overall map as well as the radar and/or sonar on 
the map. However, depending on how you set it, this entire area can 
appear in different ways: 

- You can have it on Mapped status, in which all of the terrain is 
visible. This doesn’t mean that you can see everything, though. It 
means you can see the map in black and white, and that means only the 
terrain is visible. Enemy units can’t be seen in that way. But, if you 
combine Mapped with Permanent line of sight, all the terrain is visible 
AND colored, so you can go wherever you want and see whatever you want 
as well, including your enemy units. This eliminates your need for 
radar and sonar completely.

- If you have the Unmapped status for your map, that means you start 
off the Skirmish with a black map, and it stays that way until you 
explore it. After you explore and leave the area, it stays visible, but 
not with a permanent line of sight.

- Radar/sonar appears in the same color of your team color, and the 
same goes for the enemy. You can spot enemy units through radar/sonar 
only with Radar Towers and Sonar Stations, and their advanced versions. 
Also, some structures and units come with automatic radar devices that 
can be used. (Such as the Commander and the Advanced Aircraft Plant)

- Just as a note, the settings for ALL Campaign missions are Unmapped, 
and the line of sight is on the True setting. Unmapped is the blacked-
out-until-explored mapping, and the True setting for line of sight 
means that a unit’s view is affected by elevation. Also, the team 
colors appear as blue for you, and red for the enemy. Remember that the 
radar appears in the same color as the team the unit is on. 

 2. Metal Gauge

   This displays everything about your metal. The bar indicates how 
much metal you have left compared to your maximum amount. On the right 
of that, there is a green number with a plus sign and a red number with 
a negative sign. The plus sign number tells how much metal is being 
produced at the moment. The red negative number tells how much is being 
used up. So generally, you just the producing number to be higher and 
that way you won’t run into any metal shortage problems.

 3. Energy Gauge

   This displays everything about your energy. The bar indicated how 
much energy you have left compared to your maximum amount. On the right 
of that, there is a green number with a plus sign and a red number with 
a negative sign. The plus sign number tells how much energy is being 
produced at the moment. The red negative number tells how much is being 
used up. So generally, you want the producing number to be higher and 
that way you won’t run into any energy shortage problems.

 4. Unit Construction Choice/Commands

   When you click on a construction unit, a small screen should appear 
in this area with various pictures of units. These pictures can be 
clicked and placed somewhere, where the construction unit will 
nanolathe them. (Keep in mind that there can be more choices if you 
click on the arrow beneath the pictures.) This is the same for unit 
production plants such as a Kbot Lab. However, you can click "Commands" 
at the top of this section (Automatically "Commands" when clicking a 
non-construction unit) and this gives you a list of how you would like 
the unit to function.

 5. Battle Screen

   Well, this is obviously where you see everything, battle everything, 
build everything, etc. I pity you for even reading this, if you don’t 
know what’s going on in this part of the screen. =P

 6. Action Commands

   Whenever you click on any type of unit, these commands will appear. 
These give specific actions for the selected unit. These include basic 
commands such as Attack, Move, etc. A majority of the time, the unit 
will have at least one of these commands blacked out, and that simply 
means that that particular unit cannot use that command. This holds 
especially true with the D-Gun command...

 7. Life Gauge/Unit Data

   When you hold your pointer over a unit, a gauge will appear in this 
portion of the screen. This is the amount of life they have left in 
them. Full life means a full green meter, and red is the killed off 
part. So the more green, the better! (Unless we’re speaking of an enemy 
unit.) Also, when you are using a construction unit and choosing your 
unit to nanolathe, look down here for the metal and energy cost.

 8. Unit Action and Metal/Energy Production and Use

   First off, when you click a unit, there are those green and red 
numbers again. These show the units metal production, metal 
consumption, energy production, and energy consumption. The red and 
green numbers on the left display metal. (Green is production and red 
is consumption, in case you didn’t take a hint. =P) The two numbers on 
the right display energy. And above them displays what the selected 
unit is doing. For instance, if a unit is doing nothing, it is marked 
as "Ready". These actions include things like Moving, Attacking, 
Nanolathing, Ready with Orders, etc.

 9. Unit Being Attacked and Secondary Building Gauge

   This doesn’t always appear when selecting a unit, so I’ve put it on 
my little map in parentheses. This DOES appear in two situations:

  1) When a unit on your side is attacking or aiming for an enemy unit, 
the name of the enemy unit is displayed here, as well as the amount of 
life the enemy unit has.

  2) When you are making nuclear missiles from nuke launchers or nuke 
protection systems, the building progress shows up here. This is unique 
because those missiles are not actual units, and cannot be seen while 
building. So, if you want to make a nuke from a CORE Silencer, then 
click the picture to make one, then hold your mouse pointer over the 
Silencer and look in this area. It should display how much of the 
missile is done.

CAMPAIGN WALKTHROUGH

 Stuck on a mission? Need an easier strategy for it? Just need some 
info about it? Well, here I’ll try to give some tips, info, and 
strategy for all of the missions for both the Arm and the Core. (And 
that includes the Core Contingency Campaign, but not the Battle Tactics 
missions)

*** VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ***
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These mission strategies are based on the EASY difficult setting. I did 
this because I find that many people naturally turn the difficulty 
level down to easy for their first time playing through, and many 
people referring to this section are generally playing the missions for 
their first time. If you are not playing on easy and are stuck, try 
checking out some of the other guides on the Internet, like the guide 
at www.cavedog.com.  

Besides, the basic strategies are pretty much exactly the same no 
matter what the difficulty is set on. You’ll only find yourself being 
attacked more constantly by a larger number of units as it goes up, 
that’s all... and you’ll start off with less units.

Mission #1 – A Hero Returns
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Units – 5 Peewee, 3 Jeffy, 2 Hammer, 2 Stumpy, 2 Rocko, 1 
Flash, (1 Galactic Gate)
=======================================================================

As you might expect, the first mission is ridiculously easy.

First, scroll upward towards the radar dot at the top of the screen to 
look at your Galactic Gate. That is your goal, and it is extremely 
simple. Just highlight all of your units, then click right next to the 
Galactic Gate within the Dragon’s Teeth, and just sweep upward. You’ll 
run into some very small patrols of Core A.K.’s and Weasels, but just 
ignore them and a Jeffy will quickly reach the Galactic Gate to finish 
the mission.

Mission #2 – CORE KBot Base, Destroy It!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Units – 5 Peewee, 2 Rocko, 1 Hammer
=======================================================================

First, take your Commander and throw up 3 Metal Extractors on the metal 
patches along with 3 Solar Collectors. During this time, you’ll 
probably be attacked by one measly unit, which should be disposed of 
quickly by your starting units. Once you’re done with that, make a Kbot 
Lab and make about 20 Hammers. Yes, it is boring to wait for them while 
doing absolutely nothing else, but hey, it’s worth it. Once you’re done 
with the Hammers, gather them all up (along with the starting units) 
and go southeast through the small canyon. (I recommend that you don’t 
take your Commander. He’ll be fine staying where he is; the enemy won’t 
attack there.) Plow through the resistance with your Hammers and cross 
the shallow part of the river right into the base. Find the Kbot Lab 
and blow it up to complete the mission.

Mission #3 – Spider Technology
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Units – 4 Spider, 2 Peewee, 2 Rocko, 2 Hammer, 1 L.L.T.
=======================================================================

Don’t listen to the part in the Briefing that talks about clearing a 
path for the spiders – you don’t need to. Just highlight the 4 Spiders 
at the top of the map and walk them back to your base. 99% of the time, 
at least one of the Spiders returns safely, if not all of them. Their 
paralyzing weapon stops the weak patrols in their tracks. Once one of 
the Spiders walks a little bit past the starting units, the mission is 
completed.

Mission #4 – CORE Contamination Spreads...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Units – 2 Hammer, 2 Rocko, 2 Weasel (captured Core units), 1 
Zeus, 1 Light Laser Tower (captured Core unit)
=======================================================================

Well, at least you’re actually starting to get SOME challenge.

You’re going to be attacked right off the bat by a couple of units 
coming in one at a time, but they should be easily taken care of by 
your Light Laser Tower, Rocko units, and your Zeus. Still, don’t waste 
any time, and build 2 Metal Extractors on the nearby Metal patches, 
along with several Solar Collectors to get your energy going. Throw up 
a Radar Tower, and check out some of the radar picked up on the left. 
You should see three red dots lined up vertically, with another red dot 
a little bit above it. Take your Weasels and quickly drive over there 
to destroy the red dots, which are Radar Towers, and destroy the Metal 
Extractor a little bit above it. While they’re doing this, build a few 
L.L.T. units lining the left side of the base to get some early 
defense. The position in the corner of the map is perfect, as the Core 
does not attack from the north and so you only have one side to defend. 
Anyway, after you’re finished putting up some defenses, build a Kbot 
Lab and crank out a few Hammers, along with a couple of Rocko units if 
you wish.

During this time, you’ll be attacked by groups of Core A.K.’s, Storms, 
Thuds, and Weasels. Hopefully you can hold everything up with some of 
those defenses while you build some Kbots to help them out. If you 
would like to, you can also build a Vehicle Plant to help the defenses 
with a few vehicles. In any case, make a Construction Kbot using the 
Kbot lab after making some basic units, and then make an Advanced Kbot 
Lab while you ward off a few attacks.

After you’ve gotten an Adv. Kbot Lab, crank out lots of Fido bots. 
These are excellent for the mission, and are fantastic for defending 
your base once grouped over on the left. During all of this time, 
you’ll probably be very low on metal. Use the Commander or a 
Construction Kbot/Vehicle to reclaim any kind of wreckage that you 
find, and it will help you out. Be patient while the Fidos are being 
made and easily blast away any of the dying forces being sent your way. 
Once you’ve gotten about 20 Fidos and several other Kbots and Vehicles, 
you’re ready to sweep the map. 

Gather up your units, and start to explore the map. Leave the Commander 
and a couple of other units behind in case some troops attack while 
you’re away... it’s better not to risk anything with the Commander. You 
may want to start by going north, then slowly towards the center/west-
center part of the map where the main base and resources are. Even so, 
you’ll still be required to check a majority of the blacked-out space, 
as the Core troops are scattered in small groups all over the entire 
map. Once you’ve destroyed every single Core unit, the mission is 
completed.

Mission #5 – The Gate to Thalassean
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Units – 6 Fido, 4 Triton, 3 Bulldog, 3 Jeffy, 3 Zipper, 2 
Lurker, 2 Skeeter, 2 Zeus, 1 Jammer, 2 L.L.T., 1 Metal Extractor
=======================================================================

As unbelievably stupid as this sounds, I think that the best way to 
complete this mission is to gather up your units immediately and start 
sweeping the map.

Seriously, this seems like an easier way than to build a base and ward 
off attacks until you’ve built up a big enough army. You’ve got to 
understand that the enemy is ALSO building up their troops while you 
do, and they are striking your base CONSTANTLY... and their strikes are 
hard. Since it is so difficult to keep them away, an immediate strike 
with your already quite powerful group would be nice. It is a little 
bit risky, and you might fail, but it should work... as long as you do 
one thing... REPAIR units whenever you can. While sweeping, you should 
stop between battles and repair every single unit to full health with 
you Commander. If the Commander is damaged, then stay in one spot for a 
while and wait for him to heal by himself. If you do this, you should 
successfully wipe out all the land units.

If you don’t want to do this, you can always stay and build a base. 
Just do the regular things: build your resources and produce an army of 
vehicles. (You can now use some advanced vehicles) Just make sure 
you’ve got plenty of defenses for the Core onslaught, and then sweep 
the land part of the map once you are ready.

Now, to capture the Galactic Gate. You must have your Triton tanks. If 
by some wild chance they didn’t survive, then you can either build a 
Vehicle Plant, Construction Vehicle, and Adv. Vehicle Plant to produce 
a couple, or just use the Commander for the next job. It would be 
better to use the Commander instead of waiting for it all to be done. 
In any case, first take your Lurkers and go right towards the southwest 
corner of the map and take out the scout ship patrolling along the 
coast of the tiny island. Then, use your Tritons (or Commander, but you 
should have Tritons =T) and go to that island. Take out the few light 
units there; they shouldn’t give you any problems. Just MAKE SURE YOU 
DO NOT DESTROY THE GALACTIC GATE. Take you Commander over there to 
capture the Galactic Gate. Once the gate is captured and every single 
Core unit on the map is destroyed, you have won.

Mission #6 – Beachhead on Thalassean

Mission #8 – The Gate to Tergiverse IV

Zeus, 5 L.L.T., 2 Wind Generator, 1 Shipyard

Mission #9 – The Hydration Plant
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Units – None (Only Commander and Galactic Gate)
=======================================================================

Very easy mission. Start by D-gunning the Pyro, as you have no need for 
land units in this mission. Capture the Radar Tower and the Solar 
Collector, then throw up another Solar Collector and two Metal 
Extractors on the metal patches, then build an aircraft plant like the 
briefing says. You’ll notice that the radar dots are extremely close to 
you, but don’t worry about them. The Kbots will swarm around you, but 
they can’t get up the steep hill you start out on, nor can any of your 
units besides the Commander go down. (You are put here purposely to 
make sure you use aircraft instead of land units) Build a Peeper and 
scout out the northern-central part of the map until you find the 
Hydration Plant. Nothing will shoot you down. Once you find it, build 
an Atlas, load the Commander onto it, and drop the Commander off at the 
Hydration Plant and capture it. (D-Gun anything if necessary)

Alternatively, just don’t bother doing anything, and just march your 
Commander up to the Hydration Plant and D-Gun anything in your path. :)

Mission #10 – The Bromid Maze
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Units – 2 Hammer, 2 Spider, 1 Zeus (and 9 Zipper cut off from 
you at the north-west corner of the map)
=======================================================================

Start off by highlighting your Zippers that are cut off and run them 
back to your normal units. They will run into some very light 
resistance, but most, if not all, should make it back. Repair them, 
then you can start.

This is not a very hard mission, mainly due to the fact that the Core 
will not attack you, and they do not build their base any bigger. Not 
to mention that their base is weak, too. So start by laying down a 
couple of Metal Extractors and several Solar Collectors, then build a 
Kbot Lab. You’re going by low on metal just with those two Metal 
Extractors, so go a little bit to the right and you should find two 
more metal patches. Put up a L.L.T. close by just in case they happen 
to get attacked with light forces, and a Defender once you have built a 
Construction Kbot with the Kbot Lab. Build a couple more Defenders 
around the base, too. Once you have done this, build an Advanced Kbot 
Lab and make about 10 or so Fido; this is plenty to take care of the 
weak forces at the Core base. 

You are pretty much ready to take care of everything, but I recommend 
that you quickly make an Aircraft Plant and pop out a couple of 
Thunders to take care of the Punisher on a small hill near the Core 
base. Build a Peewee to scout it out and find it quickly without being 
destroyed by the Crashers, then go and bomb the Punisher until 
destroyed, then bomb anything you can until the Thunders are finally 
shot out of the sky.

Once the Punisher has been taken care of, gather up your Fidos, 
Zippers, and other starting units and sweep the map. It should be quite 
simple. If by any chance you happen to come across a unit that shows up 
on radar but cannot be reached to its placement on a steep hill, just 
walk the Commander over and D-Gun it. (Commanders can walk up nearly 
anything) Destroy every last unit to win this mission.

Mission #11 – The Gate to Barathrum

The one huge problem with this level is metal. In the area that you 
begin in, there is only ONE metal patch that is really close, others 
may be a bit too far away. Make a Metal Extractor on it, then make some 
Solar Collectors. You’ll need to make a lot of Solar Collectors to 
provide enough energy for Metal Makers, but make only a few, then make 
a Kbot Lab. Once you’ve done that, continue making them. After every 4 
or so that you make, make a Metal Maker, then continue until you have 
about 20 Solar Collectors and 5 Metal Makers. You will have to use this 
for everything.

While you are doing that, make a Construction Kbot and some Hammers if 
you can. You will be attacked early on in the mission, so some of these 
defenses will help. Making a L.L.T. or two wouldn’t hurt, but make sure 
to build several Defenders in case the Core uses air strikes. A Radar 
Tower would also help, or an Advanced Radar Tower once you get the 
chance to build one.

After a while, you probably will not be attacked at all, so take your 
time and build your usual land attack units (Fido bots are 
recommended). If you have surplus energy and metal to be used, make an 
Aircraft Plant and try to use a few Peepers to scout out some of the 
landscape in the northwest, as that is where the Galactic Gate is, but 
do not expect them to last very long with all those anti-air towers 
scattered around. Build a few bombers, as well as some of those 
strategic bombers if you have an advanced aircraft plant. Use these 
bombers to destroy a couple of things up in the enemy territory, 
particularly the Punisher positioned right in front of the Galactic 
Gate at the end of the dried up river. Keep trying to destroy as much 
as you can until they get destroyed.

Once you have made a nice army of 30 or so Fidos as well as several 
Jethro to get rid of aircraft, start to sweep the map. Destroy all the 
units; just make sure you do not blow up the Galactic Gate. Once 
everything is cleared out, walk your Commander over from your base and 
capture the Gate to go on to Barathrum.

A pretty easy mission. Almost immediately a half-dead Zipper, the only 
survivor of the scouting team sent ahead (the remains of the rest are 
right in front of you), and a Core Pyro will head your way. Quickly 
capture the Pyro before your Zipper kills it, and then destroy the 
A.K.s that come just a few seconds later. Repair both the Pyro and the 
Zipper, and start searching for the Advanced Radar Tower. (Don’t bother 
to capture the Solar Collectors, you do not need them) It is located at 
the southern point of the map, sort of between the south-central part 
and the southwest corner. You’ll meet some resistance, but you’ll have 
to take care of them with your D-Gun; just watch out for Roaches and 
don’t blow them up when you’re too close. Once you find the Advanced 
Radar Tower, capture it to finish this simple mission.

Mission #16 – Stockpile at the Abutment.

Okay. There is a lot to do right away here. First, lay down a Metal 
Extractor on the nearby metal patch and two solar collectors. Put up a 
Kbot Lab immediately afterwards, and crank out a few Jethros. During 
this time, have your Construction Kbot put up several Defenders and 
some L.L.T.s. You might have some trouble putting them up because of 
the little resources you have, but you’ll manage. Also put up a radar 
tower.

Metal is a big problem here. There’s only like 2 metal patches near 
you, so you’ll have to resort to using Metal Makers. Fortunately, there 
are a bunch of geothermal cracks just a little to the west, so bring a 
Construction Kbot over there and build a couple, also putting up 
Defenders around it. However, don’t do this until you’ve got a few 
L.L.T.s because a couple squads of Raiders and A.K.s will attack you, 
so you’ll have to be able to destroy them easily. They also send down 
some planes early on, so make sure you have those Defenders put up.

Anyway, once you’ve got all your resource problems settled (you should 
try having 2 Geothermal Powerplants and 12 Solar Collectors to support 
about 9 Metal Makers), start assembling an army. You’ll need a Vehicle 
Plant and a Kbot Lab, as well as their advanced versions. Start making 
about 15 Fidos, 5 Bulldogs, 10 Hammers, and some random Zeuses, 
Zippers, and Diplomats thrown in. You also should build an Aircraft 
Plant and make a few Peepers to scout the area and locate the passage 
through the cliff mentioned in the briefing, the Abutment. This cliff 
is impenetrable, so you’ll have to find that opening (should be 
somewhere near the middle) if you want to get your land units through. 
By this time, the enemy will probably have stopped sending the little 
groups of land units, but they’ll constantly send down planes to harass 
your base. They shouldn’t pose any kind of threat at all as long as you 
have Defenders.

Once you’ve located the passage through the cliff and gotten all your 
land units assembled make an Advanced Aircraft Plant and pop out 10-15 
Brawlers. Send them up to the enemy base and take out as many 
Pulverizers and Gaat Guns as you can before they get shot down. Once 
you’ve done that, send your land units up and rip through the base, 
destroying everything. If you made what I told you to, they should have 
absolutely no problem at all.

This is an easy one. As the briefing states, the forces on Dump aren’t 
very strong, because the strength is focused on Core Prime itself.

In the first few minutes of the mission, you will likely be attacked by 
a few swarms of A.K.’s from the northeast, a few Instigators from the 
northwest, and maybe a Goliath or two from some random direction. They 
should stop after a while. You should pop up a radar tower and a few 
Solar Collectors, followed by a Kbot Lab while your starting units take 
care of the A.K.’s. If any Goliath tanks come, use the Commander and D-
Gun then instead of sacrificing half of your units to destroy it.

(Don’t forget that the only way to get metal in this mission is to 
reclaim the wreckage, which is found everywhere.)

Make a Construction Kbot and then start making some Hammers. Then build 
an Adv. Kbot Lab and make some Fidos. You only need about five or six 
Fidos and about 5 Hammers with a couple of Zeus bots thrown in to 
complete this. Make a small team of Zippers first to scout out and map 
the area (lots o’ canyons here) and kill the helpless radar jammers 
positioned somewhere out there. You won’t find any resistance until you 
reach the very top of the map, where some Goliaths and Reapers will 
likely take out your Zippers. When they die, take your units and 
destroy what’s left. There are only a couple of Goliaths, Reapers, and 
Diplomats that need to be destroyed for you to complete this mission.

A laughable mission. The Core will not attack you at all, and even if 
they did they wouldn’t have much to attack you with. A water canal runs 
through the middle of the map, where a boat or two patrols, with little 
defenders sparsely lined up in places. Just build up some Brawlers, 
Vamps, and bombers, hammer the weak defenses and start wrecking all of 
those Collectors, Storages, and Fusion Plants. Destroy every one to 
finish it and go on.

Well, this is it – the final mission. While I personally do *not* think 
this is the hardest mission, many others do, but in any case, it is 
still quite a tough mission.

There is no real strategy to this mission, just use any type of 
strategies you have learned from the past missions, and put them all to 
use in order to finally wipe out every last Core unit on the map. Once 
you do that, march your Commander right up to the center of the Command 
Dome to finish the campaign once and for all. 

Just DO NOT be tempted to rush in and battle with your starting units. 
Yes, you do have quite a bit, but the power and numbers of the Core 
greatly outnumber you, and you are going to get pulverized if you do 
so. 

Take your time, be patient, and you will win this final mission. Good 
luck!

Mission #1 – The Commander Reactivated...

As expected, the first mission here is generally easy. Highlight all 
your units and destroy the Arm units close by, then go to the northern 
part and you will find a ramp. Go up the ramp, then follow the walkway 
leading to the Commander, killing anything in your way. By the time you 
get there, however, you will probably have lost a majority of your 
units, but you should still be able to survive. Blast away every single 
Arm unit to save the Commander.

{From here on, the Commander is the starting unit in every mission, 
along with the listed units}

Mission #2 – Vermin
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Units – 4 A.K., 2 Thud, 2 Weasel
=======================================================================

Start by taking the 2 A.K.s and 2 Thuds back to the Commander. They may 
run into some resistance, but that will only attract them over to your 
Commander to be destroyed. Repair if necessary, then lay down a couple 
of Metal Extractors and Solar Collectors, followed by your Vehicle 
Plant. Start cranking out Raiders with the Vehicle Plant, as well as 
some Instigators, while the Commander puts up a couple more Metal 
Extractors and Solar Collectors if you feel is necessary. In the very 
early stages of this mission, Arm Peewees will probably be attacking 
you from the west, so make sure you are ready for them. If you feel 
uneasy, pop up a Light Laser Tower to help out while you make your 
vehicles. Keep in mind that Raiders and Instigators are the best choice 
here – Slashers have long range, but they are quite weak, while Raiders 
and Instigators can rip while up close.

As you make your vehicle, position most of them to defend the alley 
north of you. Once Arm stops attacking from the west (and they will 
pretty quickly), they will start to send troops of Peewees down that 
north alley, so putting some vehicles there will take care of them 
nicely, as would a Light Laser Tower. 

You are ready to go on the offensive once you have built up about 15 
Raiders, several Instigators, and a few Slashers. Start by going up the 
ramp to your left and getting rid of the Rocko Kbots patrolling over 
there, then go back and up the alley. Once you turn around the corner, 
you can enter the plaza through one of the entrances, but be wary of 
the L.L.T.s positioned at every entrance, meaning a total of 4. Destroy 
them when you spot one, but otherwise, just blast right through into 
the base and destroy all of the Peewees, energy sources, and the Kbot 
Lab. Once all the vermin is destroyed, the mission is complete.

Mission #3 – Ambush!

Starting Units – 3 A.K., 2 Storm

Another simple mission. Start by throwing up a couple of Metal 
Extractors and Solar Collectors, followed by a Kbot Lab (preferred here 
over a Vehicle Plant). Simply start making several Thuds and Storms, 
while your Commander makes a couple more Metal Extractors and Solar 
Collectors, as well as a Light Laser Tower, and maybe a Radar Tower if 
you want to. During this time, you might be attacked by very small weak 
groups of Arm units, but they should not be a threat at all. After 
making your units, sweep the map. 10 Thuds, 7 Storms, and 5 Crasher are 
more than enough to wipe out the enemy completely.

Mission #4 – Enough is Enough
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Units – 3 Thud, 2 Raider, 1 Light Laser Tower
=======================================================================

Here is where SOME of the challenge actually starts to kick in, though 
this level is still nothing compared to the future levels.

You will notice that you are in the southwest corner of the map – DO 
NOT try to go anywhere. Just a bit to the north of you is an Arm L.L.T. 
positioned on a very steep block (where the entire Arm base is located) 
and will happily pulverize any of your wandering helpless units.

Anyway, start with the usual Metal Extractors and Solar Collectors, and 
get right to work on a Kbot Lab, which is once again recommended over 
the Vehicle Plant due to the better weapons the Level 1 Kbots possess. 
Pop out a Construction Kbot and start to work on a few Pulverizers 
while the Commander quickly gets a Radar Tower going. Use the 
Pulverizers to target the radar dot closest to you and fire at it, so 
you can wipe out that pesky L.L.T. Start to work on cranking out plenty 
of Thuds, as well as several Storms and Crashers. Making a Gaat Gun 
would help a lot with the pesky Arm patrols that wander into your 
little corner. Positioning your Kbots and laser/missile towers near the 
north and east entrances is a good thing to do, now that the laser 
tower on the block is gone. ^_^ If you want to, you can build an 
Advanced Kbot Lab, but unfortunately, the only thing you can produce 
with it is a Pyro bot. If you feel like these would be a helpful 
addition and you have surplus energy and metal, go ahead and make it.

Once you have a nice army of Kbots (very rough estimates – 15 Thuds, 5-
10 Storms, 5 Crashers, and maybe 5 or so Pyros), gather them up and 
start to attack the enemy base. Penetrating the base is a pain in the 
arse, though –- you need to find an entrance without being chewed up by 
the L.L.T.s posted up on the high blocks. Make a run through the alley 
in the east, then going up the ramp onto the block at the end. You will 
run into resistance and a pesky L.L.T., so try to hurry it up and not 
take too much time with the units. Once on the block, start wrecking 
everything you see, except BE CAREFUL not to destroy the Galactic Gate. 
Clear everything on the block (especially the laser towers in the 
corners), and when you feel it is safe, walk your Commander over and 
capture the Gate. If the mission still is not finished once the Gate is 
captured, try putting up a Radar Tower right in the center of the map 
to spot any wandering Arm units left. Take the remainder of your army 
to destroy them and finish your mission.

Mission #5 – Barathrum!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting Units – None (only Commander and Galactic Gate)
=======================================================================

Start by capturing the Peewee posted as a guard (D-Gun the other), and 
immediately start walking down the hill that you start out on. You 
really have to get going on this mission.

You will find a couple of metal deposits in that area, so lay down your 
metal extractors on them. (remember, this ain’t Core Prime) Quickly 
throw up your Solar Collectors and get a Kbot Lab going.

The reason you have to move is because there are several little Core 
troops coming to patrol this area, and they will stumble upon you 
quickly. In the early rounds, you will have to settle with the D-Gun 
and blow up anything that comes towards you. If you are playing this 
game on Easy, however, the patrols will eventually stop coming as the 
Kbot Lab that is located in their base is inactive. If not on Easy, the 
little annoying pests will keep coming, but they shouldn’t be a problem 
once you have some defense going.

So, pop out a couple of Jethro first to take care of some aircraft that 
may come by, then start to work on your Thuds and a few Storms while 
you make some more use of your resources with your Commander. Remember, 
Barathrum’s crust is rich in metal, and a Metal Extractor will give you 
0.5 per tick when placed anywhere. Also, you should get a Radar Tower 
up and several Pulverizers.

Once you have a fairly a nice little swarm of Kbots, make an Aircraft 
Plant. Pop out a Fink, then a Shadow. Use the Fink to patrol the area 
in the north, where the base is located, as you have almost no chance 
of being destroyed. (Unless that fighter decides to get up and go after 
you. If that happens, try to lure it to your base and get it destroyed 
by your defenses.) Once you’re patrolling use your Shadow and take out 
as many structures in that base as you can. First try to bomb the 
Construction Kbot repairing everything, then bomb the two L.L.T.s and 
the Kbot Lab. For good measure, also wipe out the Solar Collectors 
stationed there and then you can fly back.

The base is fairly spread out, as you should have noticed when 
patrolling. If you have your swarm ready, take them and sweep the base 
to destroy the remaining mobile units walking around. Destroy every 
last one to finish the mission.

Overall Talk: These are all basic units, that’s why they are just level 
one. The construction Kbot can build some very useful things for the 
beginning of a battle, such as a Geothermal Powerplant or Guardian. 
Peewees are good in groups, as are Hammers. Hammers in large groups can 
take on a lot. Rockos are basically meant for long range attacks, so 
make sure you use them just for that. Jethros are an excellent defense 
against aerial attacks early in the battle, until you can make better 
things. Warriors are just a super version of a Peewee, and Fleas are 
excellent scouts, with their superior speed. (They’re even faster than 
Zippers.)

Overall Talk: If you want Kbots, this is where you go. The construction 
Kbot can build the best things, and that includes Fusion Reactors, Moho 
Mines, Big Berthas, Annihilators, Flakkers, and Vulcans. The Kbots are 
very powerful. Zeuses and Fidos are definitely some of the Kbots you 
would want on your attacking team. Invaders are for self-destructing, 
and that puts on a very huge explosion. Eraser and Marky deal with some 
Radar things, and Mavericks simply wreck. Zippers are excellent scouts 
with their speed. The Pelican is useful for land-water situations. 
Shooters take a bit longer to make and more resources, but they’ve got 
an energy weapon, and that’s the most powerful weapon there is. FARKs 
are among the most useful units for construction, because they help 
repair and build extremely fast, although they can’t actually start to 
build anything on their own. Infiltrators have a cloaking ability to 
spy (Although they can be seen on radar), and Decoy Commanders are a 
tad useful for building. Decoy Commanders do NOT have a D-Gun, so don’t 
get too excited...

Overall Talk: Level 1 vehicles aren’t the greatest, but they can get 
some minor jobs done quickly. Put them in big groups for the best 
results. However, once you get into the more major stuff, these won’t 
be your best things. Jeffys are good mobile scouts. And please don’t go 
around thinking that Samsons are the best vehicles on the list. You may 
think that they’re doing the work, but once up close, the Stumpys and 
Flashes are what are doing most of it. The Podger can lay those sneaky 
cloaked mines, which can come in handy a lot. Use the Construction 
Vehicle to make your better things.

Overall Talk: These are pretty handy vehicles. An Advanced Construction 
Vehicle is pretty much the same as the Advanced Construction Kbot. It 
can build the best structures that come in handy a lot. Tritons, 
Bulldogs, and Lugers are great for your land attack team. Spiders come 
in handy a lot with their paralyzer weapon. That could save you a lot. 
Merls are good for some rockets. Penetrators are Annihilators on 
wheels. Literally. That energy weapon of theirs comes in handy a lot. 
And Panthers are good for taking out some aircraft, as well as the 
lightning weapon that is only on the side of the Arm. (With Panther and 
Zeus)

Overall Talk: Only 5 units including the Construction Aircraft, but 
they come in handy. The Construction Aircraft builds the same things as 
the Construction Vehicle or Kbot. However, they build slowly, so stick 
with the vehicle or Kbot unless you need that Advanced Aircraft Plant. 
Peepers hold no weapons, but they are nice and quick for scouting an 
area. They are excellent for patrolling your base. Freedom Fighters are 
good for air-against-air combat, and Thunders are great bombers for 
some more minor bases. Atlases can transport your units by air, which 
can sometime make life a LOT easier.

Overall Talk: Air attack... you need reinforcements. Who do you call 
for? These guys, of course! The Advanced Construction Aircraft builds 
the best things again, but due to the slower nanolathing of it, I 
recommend you stick with your Advanced Construction Vehicle or Kbot. 
Anyway, Brawlers are the best! If you want an air attack to wreck havoc 
on a base, then crank out tons of Brawlers. These rapid-fire gunships 
can take on almost anything! Make sure you got plenty of them on your 
attack team. Phoenixes are strategic bombers also equipped with an 
extremely light laser. Hawks are excellent air fighters. They’re top-
notch for destroying other aircraft. Lancets are most useful for taking 
out underwater structures like Torpedo Launchers. (Make sure you never 
use Lancets for a land attack) And lastly, you can carry an Eagle with 
your planes to be ready for an enemy encounter.

Overall Talk: I don’t view these ships as units for an attack. I find 
these not very useful at all. The Construction Ship can build some 
pretty good things for the water, but nothing besides the Advanced 
Shipyard is worth pointing out. Skeeters are your main scout units for 
water. Crusaders are the only good things you’ve got for attacks in 
this group. Lurkers have some pretty good torpedoes that can come in 
handy, but the Piranhas are better. Hulks can transport things, and 
have no weapons. But you can load a bunch of crawling bombs into the 
Hulk and make it self-destruct for some *great* damage.

Overall Talk: There are some great things here. First off, the Advanced 
Construction Sub can build some water things that only it can build. 
Piranhas, Rangers, Conquerors, and especially Milleniums are what you 
want for your water-based attack team. A Colossus can produce great 
amounts of energy, so you can build a bunch of them and have plenty of 
energy, PLUS two air repair pads for each one! That’s a good deal. 
Archers are excellent units for taking out aircraft; they are by far 
the best water units for the job. And lastly, you can use Escorts and 
Fibbers as a combo to jam up both radar AND sonar. These two units 
together form an excellent team.

Overall Talk: These hovercrafts are low in number, but somewhat useful. 
The Construction Hovercraft can build a ton of basic structures. The 
Skimmer is a good scout since he get go through land and water. 
Anacondas and Wombats are pretty good attackers. Swatters can do a 
pretty good job of taking out aircraft. And a Bear is perfect for 
transportation across a land and water. Bears are also nice for loading 
lots of Invaders (Crawling Bombs) into... a great explosion.

Overall Talk: Seaplanes aren’t really the greatest bunch of units, 
because they are VERY small in number and they aren’t that useful. In 
case you didn’t know, seaplanes are just aircraft that can land in the 
water. Construction Seaplane builds the exact same things as the 
Construction Hovercraft, so there isn’t many new things. Tornadoes can 
take out planes pretty well, and Albatross is great for taking out 
things like underwater structures. Seahawks are pretty unique, because 
it detects sonar rather than radar. Yet it flies. So overall, they’re 
not too hot, but they still have their uses.

Overall Talk: Once you make yourself a Podger, you can lay down mines 
for traps. These mines can be quite useful, and they come in a variety 
of damages and ranges. I suggest that you go all out with Nuclear 
Mines. Their power and range far outnumbers all the other mines. 
However, they cost much more than the other mines, and take a lot 
longer to build. So if you don’t want to use them, make sure you use a 
large variety of them all for different situations.

Overall Talk: There are a lot of Kbots here, and lots of them are 
useful. Pyros hold a flame-thrower weapon exclusive to the Core. The 
Can moves slow, but its laser is powerful, plus it has great armor. 
Freakers have light lasers and move fast, thus making useful scouts. 
Dominators are great rocket launchers. Morty and Voyeur can work 
together to jam your opponents radar while making yours better at the 
same time. Sumos are much like Cans, but more advanced. However, Sumos 
move even slower, but their armor and weapons are better. Gimps are 
good for a land-sea assault. Parasites hold the useful cloaking 
ability, as do Decoy Commanders. Resurrection Kbots are awesome! They 
can restore a corpse to life! Just find some destroyed unit who’s now a 
hunk of metal, and restore it to full health afterwards! It works with 
enemy units as well!

Overall Talk: Some okay vehicles here. Weasels are swift and make good 
scouts. Instigators and Raiders are extremely useful in early campaign 
missions. While Slashers can shoot far, the missiles don’t do much 
damage, with the exception of shooting aircraft. Spoilers are used to 
lay those sneaky mines. Levelers have a nice, strong cannon good for 
damaging Arm Peewees and such.

Overall Talk: A nice little bunch of CORE’s best vehicles. Crocks are 
fairly useful because they can ride right into water, and they also 
deploy a fairly strong cannon. Deleters and Informers work together to 
block enemy radar and get some better radar for your own side. Reapers 
and Goliaths are much stronger versions of the Raider. They both have 
powerful heavy cannons, great for destroying enemy Kbots and vehicles. 
Mobile Artillery and Diplomats can also be useful additions to attack 
squads.

Overall Talk: A small and not particularly useful group of simple 
aircraft. Finks make good scouts, Valkyries are pretty useful for 
transport. Avengers aren’t very good fighters, but they’re still pretty 
good for knocking off pesky scouts or even bombers. Shadow is good at 
bombing the heck out of light bases with little or no air defense.

Overall Talk: These are some good planes. Rapiers are gunships like Arm 
Brawlers, but they are not the same. Rapiers don’t fire that rapidly, 
but they still manage to be pretty useful. Hurricanes and Titans can 
work together to bomb both land and water bases. Vamps are the best 
things for shooting down other planes. Vultures use radar, and flying 
can prove to be much safer sometimes.

Overall Talk: These group of ships aren’t that useful, so you should 
maybe just build a couple and then get going with Advanced Ships. 
Skeeters are your basic scout unit, and like all scouts, they move very 
quickly and are armed with a light laser. Enforcers are the only units 
in this group that are actually meant for attacking and destroying. 
They’re obviously much better than anything else in the pack is, but 
it’s nothing compared to Advanced Ships. Envoys can transport a few 
units, and good for self-destructing with some Roaches inside of it. :) 
Snakes are your basic torpedo submarines, which is also pretty useful 
since it’s underwater and harder to hit. However, Snakes seem to be 
annihilated quite easily against enemy Torpedo Launchers.

Overall Talk: Now THESE are some good ships. First off, you have Hives. 
Hives produce a nice hefty amount of energy, somewhere around the 350 
mark I believe. They also act as TWO air repair pads, you they 
basically rock! Then you have Missile Frigates, Executioners, Sharks, 
Leviathans, and the almighty Warlords. Now THIS is what you want to 
attack with. Together, they make an amazing fleet with a huge array of 
weapons. Shredders also prove to be extremely useful in shooting down 
aircraft, since they have a super fast flak gun armed. And Phantoms 
kinda suck, because all radar jammers kinda suck.

Overall Talk: Hovercraft comes in only one group, and this is it. They 
are not very powerful, but tend to come in handy with their ability to 
glide over both land and water. The Construction Hovercraft can build a 
LOT of things. If you are looking to build any kind of basic structure, 
The Construction Hovercraft is what you need. Scrubbers are about as 
good as any other scout. (Which is not saying much) Slingers are great 
basic units for shooting down some aircraft that flies overhead, until 
you can get some advanced structures such as Cobras. Nixers are pretty 
good, but they hold the same flaw that every other rocket launcher 
(besides Krogoth) has: They launch the rockets too slow. But they are 
still pretty good nevertheless. Turtles are pretty good because you can 
load lots of Roaches (crawling bombs) into it and self-destruct it to 
make a big boom.

Overall Talk: Seaplanes aren’t the best types of units, mainly due to 
the fact that that they’re numbers are so small. If there were more 
types of Seaplanes, with more effective uses, they could have proved to 
be very useful. However, they can still be used effectively in a few 
ways. For one, the Construction Seaplane can build a great variety of 
basic and intermediate structures and unit production plants, on both 
land and water. Also, the Seaplane Platform can produce some basic 
normal aircraft. Hunters have the unique ability to detect units with 
sonar in the air, which can be very useful at times for scouting 
uncharted water areas from the air. Voodoos and Typhoons are simply 
normal fighters and torpedo bombers, just with the ability to land in 
water. Overall, the seaplanes are not extremely effective, but may 
still be of help at times.

Overall Talk: Once you make yourself a Spoiler, you can lay down mines 
for traps. These mines can be quite useful, and they come in a variety 
of damages and ranges. I suggest that you go all out with M-610s. Their 
power and range far outnumbers all the other mines. However, they cost 
much more than the other mines, and take a lot longer to build. So if 
you don’t want to use them, make sure you use a large variety of them 
all for different situations.

A nice plant that can crank out some useful heavy tanks. These vehicles

These planes aren’t the most useful bunch of units you’ll ever make, 
but they could be used very effectively if used the correct way. Finks, 
for instance, are weaponless, but fly very faster, so use that to your 
advantage to fly through uncharted areas and map it out while avoiding 
most enemy fire. Avengers are excellent for shooting down other planes, 
Shadows are great for bombing bases with weak air resistance, and 
Valkyries can transport a unit almost anywhere. Just don’t try building 
a lot of these for an air strike, because you’ll use the advanced 
planes for that job...

When units are set to fire at will, it means that they will 
automatically shoot at anything that comes into their view and firing 
range. However, they will NOT fire at something only seen through 
radar, even if it is within their range of fire. If you want them to, 
you’d have to manually click on the radar dot to fire at them. However, 
since it’s a pain to do so, the Targeting Facility was created to get 
rid of that, and allow your units to automatically fire at radar within 
their range of fire. However, when turned on, it drains a whopping 
amount of energy (more than a Fusion Reactor produces) just to do so. 
With so much energy being drained, I hardly think this unit is worth 
putting up.

While still not popped-up, this laser tower has fantastic defense. When

Don’t be fooled by this thing. The Arm’s energy weapon, the 
"Annihilator", was a great unit, but the Doomsday Machine, the Core’s 
energy weapon, is not. First off, it takes a ridiculously long time 
just to bring all of the lasers out, and then you’ll be treated so some 
very light firing accompanied by only the occasional strong blast. It 
also attracts all of the enemy units first, so your foes will end up 
running after the Doomsday Machine before anything else. So overall, it 
is not worth so much energy and metal, and not worth your time.

plants are needed just to keep it running properly, but it is 
definitely worth it considering the amounts of damage it can do.

Surely you’ve heard a lot about the Krogoth, and its mightiness that 
comes with the Core Contingency expansion pack. While it is just a tad 
overrated, the Krogoth is definitely the best non-third-party unit that 
can be built in the game with a huge amount of weapons and great 
defense.

These are very expensive and take a long time to build, but it is worth 
it. They can annihilate anything with their very powerful energy 
weapons, double cannon-arm weapons, and rapid very homing missiles. 
They also have fantastic armor to help them survive huge onslaughts. 
All in all, the Krogoth is an extremely nice unit to use for crush your 
enemies.
