Far Cry 3
Question from azkesz
Asked: 5 months agoHey, I noticed that the bodies are disappearing at a certain range, and/or when switching from sniper rifle. It seems that having sniper equipped the range is increased but i am not sure.
in the mission A Man Named Hoyt where the victims run through the mined field and two pirates are shooting at the survivor from across, I snipe the first one(farthest) while I am in the cabin and then the second one after he detects me and takes cover, but when I go there the first one is always gone, disappeared due to being too far from me. This is just an example that anyone can verify, but this happens way too often when sniping and getting there some bodies are gone, and I know it's due to distance not timer.
now I need a way to make the distance at which they disappear be farther than it is something like
p_deathtime = "9999" in the systemcfg.lua file for Far Cry Legacy, but for Far Cry 3 instead.

I was able to measure the distance using a waypoint on map and it seems that if it's over 40 meters (43 meters in my case) the body disapears: I snipe them from the cabin (after Last Checkpoint(LC) with Very High video settings just in case they affect this) and they are both 43 meters away from me(they are farther after doing the LC), so I turn around and exit the cabin from the back(but also switched to an SMG) and go there and there is no body on the ground...
Oh and get this: if I exit the cabin without turning my back, the bodies remain... and if I just turn around, without changing my position, i simply turn my back and then look again, the body is gone... the other remained because it's closer(perhaps at most 40 meters I'd guess) - tried this while still holding the sniper weapon(the special one)

I wonder if it has anything to do with:
data_win32\common.dat\engine\settings\defaultengineconfig.xml
which has inside:
---snip---
<PhysicConfig
QualitySetting = "VeryHigh">

you notice these two:
MaxPickup0="40"
MaxPickup1="40"
I'll maybe check...

none of those
MaxPawnRagdoll0="40"
MaxPawnRagdoll1="40"
MaxAnimalRagdoll0="40"
MaxAnimalRagdoll1="40"
MaxPickup0="40"
MaxPickup1="40"/>
had any effect when having them set to 60
and also having them in all the places as: OverrideEngineConfig.xml and defaultengineconfig.xml
by "all the places" I mean in 3 folder locations(not packed back in common.dat) but probably the only one having effect is in gamefolderhere\data_win32\engine\settings\
but on another unrelated note, I stumbled upon how to get unlimited ammo and godmode
GodMode = "1" UnlimitedAmmo = "1"
oddly enough the following will NOT work, adding those to the line:
<ProfileSpecificGameProfile GodMode="1" Sensitivity="1" Invert_x="0" ...
in file: Documents\My Games\Far Cry 3\GamerProfile.xml
But instead placing the file defaultgameconfig.xml
renamed as OverrideGameConfig.xml
in
gamefolderhere\data_win32\engine\settings\
folder (create "settings" it shouldn't already exist)
and editing those two options to 1, will make that work.
I had both so I don't know which one has effect
But you have to extract defaultgameconfig.xml file from common.dat using Gibbed.Dunia2.Unpack.exe
you get the idea.
NOTE: it won't work if you don't rename the file, I tested it.
