This is a FAQ of (]=-The@N-=[), known as TheaN on Gamefaqs messageboards.
My real name is Arno Middelkoop and I'm from the Netherlands. Look in the
Credits section on how to contact me for additional info, questions or
corrections, but DON'T mail me for flaming or insulting, because you'll and up
on my black list. That was my introduction, on to the subject of this FAQ:

1.3 Subject Introduction
                        =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Seems like the subject is pretty simple: a short walkthrough of the Age of
Kings in the Hardest difficulty. I'm no online expert, hell, I didn't even play
it online once. However, as the campaign scenarios are fixed, there's always a
special strategy to complete them. Check this FAQ to find the answer to any
problems in the campaigns.

3.1 An Unlikely Messiah
                        =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Objectives:
-----------
1) Escort Joan from the camp at Vaucouleurs to the Château of Chinon.
2) Joan must survive.

Walkthrough:
------------
1) No economic possibilities in this mission.
2) Start by going southwest from the camp.
3) Avoid the first fight.
4) Go on, and fight the Highwaymen.
5) Proceed by going past the east side of the Burgundy camp.
6) After you acquire the Capped Ram, break the Burgundy Gate.
7) Proceed to the west, and avoid the Burgundy army while entering the
Transport Ships. Only Joan is required to enter a boat.
8) Dock to the first open place in the West of the river. This is NOT downbelow
the map, you can dock earlier.
9) No enemies on that path to Chinon (you are there, in a matter of speaking).

OBJECTIVE 1 & 2 COMPLETE!

!!!YOU ARE VICTORIOUS!!!

3.2 The Maid of Orleans
                        =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Objectives:
-----------
1) Escort Joan to Blois so she may command the French Army.
2) Get Joan to the Orléans Town Center.
3) Deliver 6 Trade Carts of supplies to the Orléans Town Center.
4) Convince the British to withdraw by destroying 1 of their Castles.
5) Joan must survive.
6) The cathedral in Orléans must remain standing.

Walkthrough:
------------
1) The path to Blois is not extremely difficult; just let Joan survive some
Burgundy units (your normal units are rather useless anyway).

OBJECTIVE 1 COMPLETE!

2) I can advise you to have cavalry (including Joan), infantry and the Carts
   seperated in three groups.
3) On your way to Orléans, use the infantry to distract the Burgundy; meanwhile
get to Orléans with the cavalry and Carts.

OBJECTIVE 2 & 3 COMPLETE!

4) Start your ecomony with 4 villagers on each task.
5) Advance to the Castle Age while defending the rather weak enemy attacks with
the standing Towers and remaining cavalry.
6) After the advance, build 4 Battering Rams and close to 8 Knights.
7) Level the British Castle to the northeast of the city with the Rams.
8) Protect the siege weapons of infantry and cavalry with your own cavalry.
9) Repeat steps 6, 7 and 8 if the attack failed. Replace Knights for the
Throwing Axemen if your attacks are blocked by many Longbowmen.

OBJECTIVE 4, 5 & 6 COMPLETE!

!!!YOU ARE VICTORIOUS!!!

3.3 The Cleansing of the Loire
                        =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Objectives:
-----------
1) Destroy at least 3 British Castles.
2) Joan must survive.

Walkthrough:
------------
1) Get to the other side with cavalry, archers, La Hire and Joan ASAP!
2) Go to the middle of the map, then a bit to the west.
3) Rush Burgundy! Don't mind the Towers that much, let the cavalry and La Hire
attack the Town Center, while the archers kill upcoming infantry and
villagers. Especially the last, as they will fire from the Town Center if
inside and you need to kill them all to secure the Burgundy resign.
4) When you have defeated them, let the villagers start building up the base. 5
villagers or so on each resource.
5) Block off the paths over the water by a stone wall + gate, and build a
Castle in front of it. Two passageways in total.
6) Also try to block of the north and west part of your base with stone.
7) Advance to the Castle Age.
8) Build up a "castle raid" army as in mission 2 and level the British Castle
fully to the east. Make sure the army is minimal, as nothing will survive
   when Fastolf comes.
9) Convert Fastolf if possible.
10)Hold off Fastolf's Army and build another "castle raid" army (big one this
time), and level the northeast Castle (you saw it probably when approaching
   the east castle).
11)Finally, level the Castle to the northwest. NOT the one to the north, as
you need to breach more British defences.

OBJECTIVE 1 & 2 COMPLETE!

3.4 The Rising
                        =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Objectives:
-----------
1) Travel west to help reinforce the French town. Be wary of opposition along
   the way.
2) Destroy the Town Center of Chalons.
3) Destroy the Town Center of Troyes.
4) Destroy the Town Center of Rheims.
5) Joan must survive.

Walkthrough:
------------
1) If done right, this mission will be extremely easy. Proceed west as the
objective says, and defeat the Guards when you approach them. YOUR MONKS
MUST SURVIVE! Proceed to the town and do it quick.

OBJECTIVE 1 COMPLETE!

2) Rush time! And pretty easy too! Proceed with your Monks towards Chalon
(northwest). On the river itself, Chalon will have at least two Cannon
Galleons near its Dock or on the river. Convert them both (one Monk each).
3) With these two, destroy BOTH the Town Center of Chalon and Troyes!

OBJECTIVE 2 & 3 COMPLETE!

4) Start up your economy with more villagers on Food and Gold (6) than on Stone
   and Wood (4).
5) Settle yourself before the east passageway over the river with a Castle and
a stone wall. Meanwhile, defend your main base against the siege attacks of
Rheims with some Knights and a Castle.
6) Advance to the Imperial Age.
7) After the advance, create 3 Trebuchets and some Elite Throwing Axemen in
your east base. Create a Stable there as well and create some
   Knights/Cavaliers.
8) Level the Rheims wall to the southeast of their base and the Town Center
with the Trebuchets. Protect them with the cavalry and special units.
9) Repeat step 7 and 8 if the attack fails. Believe me, you will.

OBJECTIVE 4 & 5 COMPLETE!

!!!YOU ARE VICTORIOUS!!!

3.5 The Siege of Paris
                        =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Objectives:
-----------
1) Refugee villagers in Paris are attempting to escape English tyranny. Locate
at least 6 of the refugees.
2) Rendezvous with the king's reinforcements in Paris, just south of the river
   bridge.
3) Escort Joan and at least 6 of the refugees to the Château of Compiègne (the
   square between the flags).
4) Joan must survive.

Walkthrough:
------------
1) No economic possibilities in this mission.
2) Not much to tell, actually. Just level all creating buildings of the enemy,
while also breaking the gates leading into the city. Watch out that you
don't lose too much units. Rescue the villagers.

OBJECTIVE 1 COMPLETE!

3) Ride one Paladin near the reinforcements location to complete the goal.
Meanwhile, level the Docks and Keeps with the Trebuchets and the Galleons
   with the Bombard Cannons.

OBJECTIVE 2 COMPLETE!

4) Rush the Monks before they can convert you, and proceed to the northeast of
the city, and take the refugees with you. At least 6 of them, a Trebuchet
and Joan must survive. More is recommended.
5) Defeat the final enemy place in the northeast with your new allies. Break
through the wall and go to the Castle of Compiègne with Joan.
6) Burgundy will turn NEUTRAL! That's easy! Put Joan in the Castle for
protection, and just let the villagers go into the final square. Ungarrison
Joan and let het go into the square as well. Complete.

OBJECTIVE 3 & 4 COMPLETE!

3.6 A Perfect Martyr
                        =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Objectives:
-----------
1) Rendezvous with the French army, commanded by Constable Richemont.
2) Rendezvous with the French artillery, commanded by Jean Bureau.
3) Plant the French flag (loaded in a Trade Cart) on the hill in Castillon
   (covered with flags).
4) The Trade Cart carrying the French flag must survive.

Walkthrough:
------------
1) This mission has no starting economic possibilities.
2) Proceed east to the army and a bit further for the artillery.

OBJECTIVE 1 & 2 COMPLETE!

3) Put all your units on Stand Ground attack, and take all your cavalry (minus
heros) to the full south of the map. *NOW YOU WANT TO SAVE BADLY*
4) Meanwhile, make your Hand Cannoneers and Arbalests ready near the Burgundy
   wall.
5) When your cavalry arrives in the Burgundy UNDEVELOPED town, kill all
villagers (some are gathering wood and gold more to the west) and start
   destroying the Town Center.
6) Take your Cannon hero to the river to the right of the small Burgundy town.
7) Take the Trebuchet, and place him in position where he can attack the
Burgundy second Town Center without breaching the wall. While doing this,
destroy the enemy Trebuchet with your Bombard Cannons.
8) Both Town Centers will go down, and while the Burgundy army tries to save
the south town, you cripple the Fishing Ship with Bureau. Burgundy resigns!
*STEP 4 THROUGH 8 WILL REQUIRE LUCK AND PATIENCE*
9) DON'T settle in the Burgundy army camp, but in the undeveloped one, and
block it off with a wall and a Castle before Shrewsbury comes.
10)Don't matter your economic much, build a Dock a bit west of the
riverpassage. Create about 8 Fire Ships and a Transport Ship (it will
require some houses besides the Castle).
11)Load the Transport full with the Cart and 4 Paladins/Arbalests.
12)Rush the British over water! Maintain normal formation while you unload on
British territory and take the Cart between the flags (may require some
   luck).

4.1 An Arabian Knight
                        =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Objectives:
-----------
1) Defeat the Franks West of Cairo.
1) Get your soldiers to the Mosque in Cairo.
2) Defeat the Franks East of Cairo by destroying their Town Center.

Walkthrough:
------------
1) No economic possibilities in this mission (even with 1000 of each
   resource...).
2) As you might notice, there are two 1 objectives.
3) Go southwest with most of your army (prefered all) and defeat all Franks on
   the way.
4) As you approach Cairo and you are slowly defeating the West Franks, Cairo
   will turn Enemy!

OBJECTIVE 1 CHANGED!

5) You don't have to defeat the West Franks anymore. The Egyptians can attack
you with Elite Mameluke, so destroy the Frankish Blacksmith for armor (not
that it's not good without the Elite Mameluke though :D).
6) Destroy the gate of Cairo and have two Light Cavalry run to the gate near
the Mosque. Watch out for the Monk there!

OBJECTIVE 1 COMPLETE!

7) You will get some needed units from the Egyptians, so I forgive them :D. Put
Camels, other cavalry, infantry and the Siege Ram in 4 different groups.
8) By default, let the infantry attack the Town Center, the Camels the cavalry,
and the other cavalry the infantry. This will work mostly, but I would save
if I were you. Oh, I forgot. The Siege Ram of course, should attack the Town
   Center as well.

OBJECTIVE 2 COMPLETE!

!!!YOU ARE VICTORIOUS!!!

                        =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
4.2 Lord of Arabia
                        =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Objectives:
-----------
1) Defeat Reynald's Pirates.
2) Defeat Reynald's Raiders.
3) Do not allow your allies of Aqaba and Medina to be defeated.

Walkthrough:
------------
1) This is a tedious mission and I should save a lot if I were you (no, that's
not a part of the mission, I know XD). The Imperial Age is not available in
   the mission.
2) Increase your economy by at least 5x (5 villagers on Wood/Gold, 10 on Food).
3) Advance to the Castle Age when possible. Build a Stable to make it possible.
Use the Market to trade Gold->Food to increase the speed if your Gold allows
   it.
4) BUild a lot of Knights and Camels after the advancement (5-10 each). Build a
   Siege Workshop and Monastry meanwhile.
5) Build 3-4 Battery Rams and 1 Monk when done. Meanwhile, if the resources
allow it, build a Blacksmith and upgrade some cavalry attack/armor.
6) Defeat the Raiders (northeast of the map): attack the west gate with the
Rams, hold off units with the cavalry. Once the gate is destroyed, destroy
the Town Center with the rams. Keep holding off the (mostly) ranged units.
7) Kill all Raiders' villagers. Most of them are located near the resources
west of their base. DO NOT LET THEM BUILD UP AGAIN!

OBJECTIVE 2 COMPLETE!

8) If the Pirates were or are attacking Aqaba, try to drive them away. A useful
hint: try to repair the building the Galleons are attacking. It will heal it
more than it gets hurt, and the enemy will not progress with destroying
   Aqaba.
9) Settle in the Raiders old base. Use Redemption to convert almost all
buildings; build 3 more Monks for it. Destroy the east gate and replace both
gates with your own (you might need to build a few walls in its place before
you can build the gate horizontal). Replace any destroyed buildings, rebuild
a Monastry in the Raiders base, and continue your economy.
10)Capture the Relic west of the Raiders base.
11)Hold of the Pirates' land forces while securing the main land. If you want,
completely annihalate the Bandits by proceeding to the nortwest of the map
(use the Aqaba passageway) and level their 'base'.
12)Now the water raid begins. Start by tributing 200 Wood and 100 Gold to both
Aqaba and Medina to let them restore their Trade Carts (yes, that works),
and so increasing the rate of your rewards.
13)Go with two or three villagers to the south east of the map (where there are
probably still some Aqaba towers) and build 3 docks.
14)Spam at least 20 Fire Ships. Use a Castle and houses to support your
   population.
15)Defeat the Pirates: secure the river, use Transport Ships to let at least
15 Pikemen, 15 Knights and 5 Battering Rams enter the land of the Pirates
(west). Level their base, destroy any Transport Ship you see; they MUST NOT
escape to the main land. Level the Town Center and all villagers. The
   entering might require a retry.

OBJECTIVE 1 & 3 COMPLETE!
