Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
Review by PHarris
"A great game that should not be overlooked!"
Now even though I love to play action games, I'm just like the next person in saying there are too many ripoffs and cheap imitations out there. It has to take something special to stand out in this genere. Thankfull this game did just that. Let's take a look inside the numbers.
Graphics - 9
These are some of the best graphics I've seen in a action shooter. Every thing is very deteailed, and there are some cool weapons. My only complaint is that you'll need a good system to keep the game from slowing down. I have a Pentium 400 with a Riva TNT and still experience slowdown once in a while.
Sound - 9
Since this game takes place overseas in Japan, the oriental music is very good, thought it has that kind of cheesy B rated movie feel. The sound effects like the guns firing are excellent as well. The voice acting is supurb as well.
Control - 8
The control while fighting on the ground is never a problem because it mimics other action games like Quake 2. The feeling of controlling a mech while fighting might be a problem to some at first, you get used to it.
Gameplay - 10
This game has a very engrossing story line, so it makes you want to play the game more. I feel this shooting game was probably one of the easiest to pick up and start. Nothing beats this game.
Overall, I feel that this game is one of the best action games available on the market. It really puts games like Quake 2 and Unreal to shame because Shogo has a vivid story line whereas in Quake you just shoot and move. Highly recommended to any fan of genere.
