Question from bradyboy32

It wont install?

Once I put the disc in it will go to install/play menu and I press install, it will go about 2 minutes installing time and then it has a blue screen. Why won't it work?{i have windows 98

As in the dreaded blue screen of death?

First off, turn OFF automatic restarts after the BSOD

Next you want to copy down the code in the top left and check what the error message is

Another thing you could try before that is installing starcraft in safe mode, but that doesn't really solve the root of your problems

Also, with such an old computer it's probably time to consider upgrading (or at least backing up your files)

LordOfDabu answered:

Try registering the game on Blizzard Accounts and then downloading and installing that version of the game.

I would recommend doing what LordOfDabu said. Go to and make an account. Register your game by using your cd-key. Download the installer of StarCraft. Use the CD-Key you get in the starcraft page where you download the game IF you now want the game to be valid cd-keyed. You could use a random cd-key too if you want to skip play (which is rubbish anyway nowadays). You will get BroodWar too as its basic addon now for SC.
