1. Introduction
******************************************************************************
I am MysticWeirdo also known by my real name Warren Grieder.

Singles is a relationship similuation which places you in control of two
roommates. As you play the game you'll have them develop a relationship while
sharing the load of the mundane tasks such as such as cooking, cleaning, and
household repairs. You also need to look after the characters' personal
hygiene.

The character need to finance their lifestyle by working five days a week, to
allow them to buy items for their apartment to increase their comfort levels.

As their relationships strengthens they'll be able to participate in more
intimate romantic activities, eventually leading to marriage.

Singles is available in an Adult Only version available for purchase over the
web and a Mature version available in select retail outlets. The Mature
version has the nudity pixelated but is otherwise the same game.

This guide is based on version 1.6 of the Adult Only version released in North
America.

Him> I'll be happy to show you everything, if the tip's big enough?

The male character walks to the living room area and the following game dialog
appears.

Game dialog> Right, let's get started. To follow [Male character's name] into

The male character wallks to another point in the living room and the dialog
continues:

28's bedroom. It's incredible, you wouldn't think they'd be that flexible at
seventy. Not that I've been watching.

Again left click on the question mark beside the male character to continue
the dialog:

Game dialog> Want to change your view of the flat? Then press the middle mouse
button or mouse wheel and hold it down. Now wiggle that mouse about a bit
baby.
Game dialog> You don't have a middle mouse button? No problem, just use your
cursor keys (the pointy arrow ones) and Page Up/Page Down - Those are your
magic buttons of movement.
Game dialog> Right, beginner's stuff over, let's get serious. Want to move
your view round the flat? Then hold down the right button and move the mouse,
then you can use the mouse wheel to zoom in on things. Yes, and that does
include people in the shower.

The male character goes to the kitchen area are this text appears:

and sofa in here, some hotties for the bedroom. The basics.
Him> Right now, this tour guide's gotta crash.

The male character sits down at the kitchen table. This text appears:

just carried a hundred boxes' sweaty smell, so could I.
Game dialog> Hygiene is pretty important. If you smell, or the rooms smell,
then your roommate will start thinking about leaving.
Game dialog> Everything in here works. Try washing [Female character's name]'s
hands in the sink (click on the sink and then the 'wash hands' button). This
will improve [Female character's name]'s hygiene. You'll see the body
indicator go up as the germs go down.

Click on the sink and then click on "Wash Hands". This dialog appears:

get my ass to the bedroom and change before my new roommate thinks I'm an
armpit nightmare.

Click on the question mark in the bedroom to see this dialog:

Her> Basic, but at least there are no cockroaches.
Her> I think I'm going to like it here.

on the chest (the wooden one that is) and pick what to wear.

Click on the dresser and Click on one of the female characters outfits. If

approaching the male character and will cover herself up. This behaviour will
continue for both characters until their relationship strengthens, for a
character you're not currently controlling they will run to a dresser and
change into something else. Click on either the swimsuit or the casual
outfit.

The following dialog appears after an outfit has been chosen:

next...

Click on the question mark between the kitchen table and the appliances. The
following text will appear:

labelled 'switch on' button.

Click on the stove, and click "Switch on". The stove will explode. The
following dialog appears.

Her> Heyyyy! Is this whole place boobytrapped?

but there are a couple of house rules I want to tell you first.

Walk to the question mark by the male character to see the following text:

Him> Take a seat.
Game dialog> To sit down, click on the free chair and select "Take a load
off".

Click on the unoccupied chair at the kitchen table and click "Take a load
off". The following dialog comes up:

Her> These house rules don't involve laughing at your jokes or {stroking
things/(rainbow mode)getting you off}, do they?
Him> That's not a rule, that's an added bonus! Look. I just want to make sure
you do your share of the cooking and cleaning. Oh, and can you unpack the rest
of your things before Monday? I start back then.
Him> In the meantime, you need a hand moving anything - underwear, sex toys,
just give me a yell.
Her> You're funnier when you don't try, you know. But the hint's taken, I'll
empty these boxes.
Game dialog> Ever wanted X-Ray vision? Well now you've got it. Click on a box
and click on the 'Unpack a Box' button to see what is inside.

item, then click and hold the left button to make the item give you a twirl.

screen with its friends. Move the mouse over a button and it'll tell you what
it does.
Game dialog> Click 'Needs' and it will take you back into the game so you can
unpack more boxes, or wash those dirty hands.

Click the "Needs" icons (the Yin-Yang symbol) in the interface in the lower
left corner of the screen.

Click on another box and place the item inside it somewhere. Repeat the
process until all of the boxes are unpacked. The contents of the boxes are:

Phone
Table Lamp
Kitchen Chair
Television
Garbage Can

The following dialog appears after all of the seven boxes are unpacked.

Game dialog> Great! Everything is unpacked. You can change back into
'Decorating Mode' if you want to buy more furniture or do the place up a bit.

The game proceeds as in story mode.

================
10.2 Story Mode
================

The objective of story mode is to develop the characters romantic, sensuality,
and friendship relationship through 10 levels (circles) with allows them to
get married. The fun relationship can also be advanced but its not essential
to the plot. Try to avoid the trouble plot lines by keeping the work load
balanced. Some of the dialogs for the romanctic, sensuality, and friendship,
plotlines can be missed if certain conditions are not met, but this doesn't
prevent obtaining the marriage objective. The three relationship plotlines can
be advanced in any order although the dialog for third circle of the romantic
and sensuality relationships are mutually exclusive.

Attend to both characters needs through the first weekend and throw in some
conversation between them, I'll discuss this in more detail in the next sub-
section. After your morning routine on Monday morning when its time to go to
work you see a factory icon appear. Direct one of the characters to go to
work by using the stairwell and selecting "Go to Work" or wait for one of them
to decide to go on their own. The dialog before the first work day will vary
depending on which character you send to work first.

If the male goes to work first you will see the following dialog:

Him> Don't you love Monday mornings? I think we should find who invented them,
then kill them and everyone they know.
Her> Noted, [Male character's name] - not a morning person.
Game dialog> Okay, you want the money, you've got to do the time. Go and study
or get to work to get the dough. Then you can transform this place from a
student flophouse into a filmstar swank pad.
Game dialog> Check your savings and you can start spending straight away. Just
go back into decorating mode to do your place up.
Game dialog> There's everything from plasma screens to swimming pools up for
grabs...if you've got the benjamins.
Him> Catch you later.

If the female goes to work first you will see the following dialog:

Her> Tell me why I don't like Mondays.
Him> Hey! Only five more days to Friday night. No, you're right, Mondays are
officially bad news.
Her> See you tonight.

The other character will like spontaneous go to work, if not send them on
their way.

==============================
10.3 Develop a Weekly Routine
==============================

It's essential to develop a routine to satisfy you're characters needs. Avoid
getting the relationship into trouble by balancing the workload and swapping
the characters task each day.

------------------------------
10.3.1 Sample Weekday Schedule
------------------------------

When you first start out the characters relationship isn't strong enough for
one of them to use the toilet, shower, or bathtub if the other character is
already in there so it will be necessary to juggle the schedule so the other
is doing something else.

In the morning when the characters first get up, have the first one use the
toilet and was their hands at the sink. Have the other one get breakfast from
the refrigerator.

When the first characters done washing their hands, have them get breakfast
from the fridge, ideally there will be a bit of conversation time at the
breakfast table.

When the second character finishes breakfast, have them use the toilet, clean
the toilet and take a shower. Mean while the first character should wash up
the dishes and clean the dining table.

There likely won't be time before work, for the other character to have a
shower, they'll have one later.

Both characters should put on their formal or casual attire and go to work.

The first character should use the toilet when they get it and have a shower.
The second character can take on the trash and cook dinner.

The first character should change into some casual attire (unless they're no
longer shy) and get some food from the stove. Ideally both characters are
eating at the same time for some conversations.

The first character should vacuum the house (buy a vacuum from the study menu
in decorate mode) while the second character uses the toilet, washes up the
dishes, and cleans the dining table (if the first character is done vaccuum
they can clean the table instead)

If you replace the shower with a tub, one of the character should clean it as
well.

Now its time to do some relationship development. Have the characters talk to
each other using the various Fun, Sensuality, Romance, and Friendship options
to build up those relationships until its time to go to bed. You can try to
keep the development of the four categories even, but its not necessary to do
so as long as you don't ignore one or more of them completely.

Both characters should use their respective beds.

Swap schedules for the next week day to avoid trouble.

------------------------------
10.3.2 Sample Weekend Schedule
------------------------------

The major difference here is the characters don't go to work.

Have the second character get dressed and take out the trash, while the first
character uses the shower.

Have the first character get dressed, and have the character talk to each
other using the various Fun, Sensuality, Romance, and Friendship options to
build up those relationships until they start getting hungry. Have the first
character use the toilet, and wash their hands, while the second character
cooks dinner. Have the first character get food from the stove.

After the meal have the first character vaccuum, while the second character
washes the dishes and uses the toilet, the first character should clean the
kitchen table.

If you replace the shower with a tub, one of the character should clean it as
well.

Have the characters talk to each other using the various Fun, Sensuality,
Romance, and Friendship options to build up those relationships until its time
to go to bed.

Swap schedules for the next weekend day to avoid trouble.

----------------------------------------
10.3.3 Adapting the Schedule for Repairs
----------------------------------------

Occasional and item like the stove, toilet, or refrigerator will break down.
Have one of the character interupt their schedule to repair the appliance. It
will be necessary to catch up in the evening by reducing the relationship
building time.

Be sure to alternate repairs between the characters to avoid trouble.

---------------------
10.3.4 Losing Shyness
---------------------

One the character get comfortable in various state of undress it becomes
possible to have the both using the bathroom at the same time. Take advantage
of this and adjust the schedules to increase the conversation time.

E.g. In the morning, one character could start with a shower, while the other
uses the toilet, washes their hands and brushes their teeth, before having
their shower. Meanwhile the first character uses the toilet, washes their
hands and brushes their teeth. Both then proceed to have breakfast.
Afterwards one cleans the toilet and the other washes the dishes and cleans
the kitchen table.

Your characters will be comfortable being seen in underwear/towel when one of
these conditions it met: Romantic relationship at 5 circles, Friendship
Relationship at 6 circles, or Sensuality relationship at 4 circles.

Your characters will be comfortable being seen naked when one of these
conditions it met: Romantic relationship at 8 circles, Friendship Relationship
at 8 circles, or Sensuality relationship at 5 circles.

========================
10.4 Redecorating Basics
========================

--------------------------
10.4.1 Mandatory Purchases
--------------------------

There are two manadatory purchases:

The first thing you should be for the flat is a vacuum (the least expensive
one) from the study submenu in decorate mode. This is necessary to keep the
flat clean.

The second is a double bed. It will be need once your relationship
strengthens far enough for the more intimate options to appear.

----------------------------
10.4.2 Recommended Purchases
----------------------------

As you acquire more money consider replacing some of the second hand stuff in
the flat with higher quality models. These will break down less frequently,
requiring fewer schedule adjustments to accomodate repair work.

Other items may provide additional activaties to do it the flat that may be

Him> Hey, I'm trying to open up here.
Her> You really expect me to believe you're a virgin?
Him> Thanks for making me feel bad. I was trying to confide in you, but don't
worry!
Her> I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. It's just difficult to believe.

Him> Well, we've been living together for a while and there's lots I don't
know about you.
Her> And?
Him> I reckon we should play 'Truth or Dare'. You can go first.
Her> Okay. I dare you to take the trash out and finish the housework.
Him> That's not a proper dare.
Her> Have you smelled it? I promise- You do the housework, you can dare me.
Anything, I promise.
Him> Okay. I dare you to do the vacuuming. Nude!.
Her> Let's see you do the housework first! Then I'll think about it.

Her> Well, they say anticipation is the best part, so I'll just keep you
guessing as to when I'll do it.

When the female energy level is above 0.4 and provided a vacuum and a chest of
drawers is available and there is dirt to vacuum the following dialog will
appear.

Her> Okay {big boy/(pink mode) cute buns}, are you sure you're ready for this?
Him> Any chance I can get my camera?

Her> One track mind. You tell anyone about me doing that, you're dead!
Him> You enjoyed it. Admit it - you want me.
Her> Oh, yeah. That single bed of yours is irresistible.

If you have purchased a double bed already, you'll see this dialog:

Him> My brain's out of here, no way I can finish these accounts. I mean what's
15 + 19 + 35?
Her> Errrrr 69!?.
Him> Yes, please. As you're offering.
Her> Sorry, I've got a headache
Him> I know a great way to relieve tension. Just take two people, pop them in
a double bed and simmer lightly for an hour.
Her> An hour? Well, at least it'll be quieter if your tongue's got a cramp!

The characters will Make out in Bed after the double bed version of the

Her> Want to try for seven?

Her> I want to talk us being permanent. Just you, me, and a big diamond ring.
Him> I don't really suit diamonds.
Her> Do you suit me?

10.8 Fun
========

------------------------------------
10.8.1 Fun Relationship Circles 1-10
-------------------------------------

Use the "Tease" and "Tell a Joke" option Fun conversation options to raise the
fun relationship. There are no dialogs in this relationship category. Try to
keep it in pace with the others, although it is not essential to the plot.

NOTE: The tease option also has the Trouble Icon, be sure to balance the
amount of teasing between the characters to be safe.

=============
10.9 Marriage
=============

Once both characters have obtained 10 full circles in one of the Friendship,
Sensuality, or Romantic Relationships, and at least 5 full circles in the
other two, the Male will receive the "Pop the Question" romantic conversation
option. The first time it is used this dialog will appear:

Her> [Male character's name], were you serious? About us being together for a
long time?
Him> Well, I need your rent money. And I'd be stuck for sex if you moved out
Her> Is that all I am to you? A good lay?
Her> Well?
Him> Are you talking marriage?
Game dialog> Bombshell!
Her> I want more than what we've got, yeah.
Game dialog> [Male character's name]'s beginning to sweat it...
Her> That was your cue. Now you say, "I do too!"
Him> Errrr...
Him> Sure, let's go for it...
Game dialog> Right answer! {He gets/(pink mode) She gets} to keep {his balls/
(pink mode) her partner}.

The characters will french kiss and the following dialog will appear.

Her> [Male character's name], you do realize at some point, you're going to
have to ask me properly.

The next time the male character returns from work the following dialog will
appear unlocking the villa.

Him> [Female character's name], you won't believe this, but I've won us a
vacation.
Her> Let me guess, two weeks in a crappy BB in Jersey?
Him> Try our very own beach house in the Caribbean!
Her> This isn't you pulling my chain?
Him> No, seriously.
Her> Is this just us going for a getaway? Or something a bit more serious?
Him> Sun, sea, sand and screwing for a fortnight. I think that's pretty
serious!
Her> I'll think about it. But I think you should get serious, [Male
character's name]. I want to know where we're going with this...

(MAKE A ARCHIVAL SAVE NOW if both characters are at 10 full circles of
romantic, friendship, and sensuality relationships. The villa is unlocked
after completing the next dialog, buy I lost it when the game crashed on me.)

Now the "Pop the Question" option will reappear this time the dialog will be

Him> [Female character's name], can I ask you a question?
Her> As long as it's not another one about my favorite fantasies, or if I'd
wear latex for you
Him> Well, it is a bit personal. I was just wondering if you thought about
getting married?
Her> Was that seriously the most romantic way you could think of asking?

If only the romantic relationship is below 10 the following dialog appears and
you'll need to wait for the "Pop the Question" option to appear again.

Her> To be honest, there's something missing between us. I mean I like you,
but you have to admit, you're as romantic as a candlelit dinner at a service
station.

If only the friendship relationship is below 10 the following dialog appears
and you'll need to wait for the "Pop the Question" option to appear again.

Her> To be honest, there's something missing between us. You're a great lay,
but we don't exactly get on as friends.

If only the sensuality relationship is below 10 the following dialog appears
and you'll need to wait for the "Pop the Question" option to appear again.

Her> To be honest, there's something missing between us. You're a good laugh
and a good friend, but you're as sexy as skid marks on polyester underwear. I
mean you can't find my buttons even though they're labelled.

If both the friendship and romantic relationships are below 10 the following
dialog appears and you'll need to wait for the "Pop the Question" option to
appear again.

Her> To be honest, there's a lot missing from our relationship. The sex is
great, but you treat me like an object. I want to be romanced and to marry a
friend.

If both the friendship and sensuality relationships are below 10 the following
dialog appears and you'll need to wait for the "Pop the Question" option to
appear again.

Her> To be honest, we don't get on that well and you couldn't find my buttons
with the lights on and labels. I want you to make me laugh in the living room
and moan in the bedroom, not the other way around!

If both the sensuality and romantic relationships are below 10 the following
dialog appears and you'll need to wait for the "Pop the Question" option to
appear again.

Her> To be honest, you're less romantic than a first date at a burns ward, and
the sex?! Just get a few videos out and look for some tips.

If both character have all three of their romantic, sensuality, and friendship
relationship at 10 the marriage quest concludes with the following dialog.

Her> But, I'm touched that you had the courage to ask. Yes, let's get married.
Him> If I change my mind at any point - that'll be okay won't it?
Her> Only if you want to see your internal organs in a bag.
Game dialog> Congratulations! You've created one happy pair of bunnies. Now
just use the staircase to send them off to wedded bliss. And don't forget! The
SINGLES will return in SINGLES 2 coming soon to a PC near you.

A wedding graphic appears after the dialog.

The villa will now be unlocked for you to visit in this game or to start a new
game in free form mode.

There will be no further dialog as the story is over.

=======================
10.10 Trouble Plotlines

some for these dialogs may appear.

--------------------
10.10.1 Female Upset
--------------------

You'll see this dialog if the female fills up her first trouble circle.

Her> Any chance of a hand with the housework?
Him> I've done some.
Her> Yeah, right. That's why the bath's got more rings than an oak tree.
Him> Not me who's always using it.
Her> Check out the yeti hairs that are blocking the plug, 'cause those aren't
mine!

You'll see this dialog if the female fills up her third trouble circle.

Her> Why do I have to do all the cleaning?
Him> 'cause you're so damn good at it.
Her> Anyone here look like a slave? You'll be asking me to wear a Maid's
uniform next.
Him> Hmm, not

You'll see this dialog if the female fills up her fifth trouble circle.

Her> Will you get off your ass and do some housework you lazy pig?!
Him> Don't get your undies in a twist. There's a lot better things you could
be doing with them.
Her> Oh, yeah. Good move. Let's try a bit of {chauvinism/(rainbow mode)
sarcasm}
Him> You're right, I've been very naughty. Maybe you should spank me.

You'll see this dialog if the female fills up her eighth trouble circle.

Her> Look, I am getting REALLY fed up of doing all the cleaning on my own.
Will you try lifting a finger!?
Him> Sure, which one do you want me to lift?
Her> There's a sandwich in the fridge that's had children.
Him> That's Arnold. I'm training him to do tricks.
Her> This isn't funny. If you don't do your fair share then I am out of here.
No more warnings!

You'll see this dialog if the female fills up her last trouble circle. The
game end with the female leaving.

Her> That's it! I've had it with you!
Him> What is it this time?
Her> That's always your attitude isn't it? Well, you can screw your flat!
Him> What?!
Her> I'm out of here. You can keep the furniture, but I'm taking the money.
Have a nice life!

A graphic of the angry female leaving will display.

------------------
10.10.2 Male Upset
------------------

You'll see this dialog if the male fills up his first trouble circle.

Him> Are you okay?
Her> Yeah, why?
Him> I was just wondering whether this allergy you had to housework was going
to turn out fatal.
Her> No need to get sarcastic. It doesn't suit you.

You'll see this dialog if the male fills up his third trouble circle.

Him> There's stuff on your side of the fridge that's gone hairy. Don't know if
you've heard, but Penicillin's already been discovered?
Her> I've been busy.
Him> Yeah, I've seen you {filing your nails/(rainbow mode) watching TV}.
Her> You'll have to work on you angry look, it's just not doing it for me;

You'll see this dialog if the male fills up his fifth trouble circle.

Him> Need some exercise?
Her> You coming on to me again?
Him> Oh, yeah. There's something of mine that really needs your attention. A
little bit of rubbing and tender care... it's called the flat! Try tidying up
you lazy slob!
Her> You stand more chance of me doing that than anything else!

You'll see this dialog if the male fills up his eighth trouble circle.

Him> We have to talk. I mean really talk.
Her> You know, I could get to like it when you're tough.
Him> Okay. Do your share of the housework, or I walk. That tough enough for
you?
Her> You know angry gives you wrinkles.

You'll see this dialog if the male fills up his last trouble circle. The game
ends with the male leaving.

Him> Right, that's it! Enough is enough! I am NOT your personal slave.
Her> Now there's an idea.
Him> Really? What did you have in mind!
Her> I'm sure you're imaginative enough to work that out
Him> Sorry, we'll both have to imagine it. I've bought another flat. You can
keep the furniture. But me and the money are moving out to start a new life
together.
