                        History                                      G0210
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Seal of Evil story is set in the twilight years of the Warring States
period of Chinese history (476 - 206 BC). This turbulent time marks the
disintegration of the longest lived of all Chinese imperial dynasties the
Zhou, which gave the Chinese people some of its greatest thinkers (Confucius
and Mencius) as well as some of its most important cultural achievements (the
Great Wall). It is also unfortunately a time of great conflict, when the
seven disparate nations dominating the social and political landscape vie for
supremacy all the while resisting periodic invasions from the Huns, northern
barbarians whose viciousness and tenacity seem to know no boundaries or
limits.

Out of this strife and chaos emerges a nobleman possessed of an indomitable
spirit and an uncompromising vision of the future: Ying Zheng, king of the
Qin state and the future emperor of the Qin Dynasty. His troops are well-
trained and even better organized. Fighting on many fronts, they manage to
win one victory after another. They are not an army of liberation, however,
but one of suppression and domination. Ying Zheng will succeed, no matter the
cost. He will unify China or bury it in the fires of oblivion.

In the southwestern part of China, his soldiers have met strong resistance in
East Baiyue. The Baiyun are a proud and honorable people. They regard the Qin
king as little more than a power hungry despot, and they are right. Wanting
nothing to do with him or his particular form of tyranny, the Baiyun resist.
Sadly, years earlier the country of West Baiyue had already fallen to the
Qin, leaving the East to fend for itself. A great warrior chieftain named Lan
Xiong and his best friend and chief sacrificial wizard, Chi Huan, lead the
remaining Baiyun. Although not at all eager for battle and bloodshed, they
will nonetheless not give up without a fight. Then on the eve of war, Lan and
Chi die suddenly of mysterious causes. East Baiyue no longer has leadership
and guidance. All seems hopeless.

Lan Wei, the heir to Lan Xiongís mantle of authority, is distraught. Lacking
confidence in her own abilities to lead the Baiyun to war and unable to unify
them the way her father would have, she decides her only course of action is
to seek the mythical Empyrean Stones. If the legends and stories are correct,
the five stones will enable her to bring Lan Xiong back from the dead. He is
her only hope for saving East Baiyue from the Qin menace.

Thousands of years before the Warring States period, a god named Chi You
rebelled against the authority of Heaven because he was jealous of his
brethren. The Yellow Emperor, the god who is regarded as the ancestor of the
Chinese people, went to war against his brother and after one hundred years
of battle defeated him. He would not have won if were not for the ancestors
of the Baiyun people turning on Chi You, who had until that point been their
patron deity. The Yellow Emperor imprisoned his soul in a slate platform
using the magic of an enchanted stone tablet. To ensure the demon god could
never escape, he broke the enchanted tablet into five pieces and then
scattered them to the four winds. These are the Empyrean Stones.

The Yellow Emperor also punished Chi Youís cohorts. The demon god Xing Tian
he punished by cutting off his head and burying it under a mountain. Xing
Tian subsequently grew a new pair of eyes on his chest and a new mouth on his
stomach, but he still fled, sufficiently cowed by the Yellow Emperorís might.
Chi Youís other lieutenant, a bold, beautiful demonic goddess named Mei, had
her physical form utterly destroyed by the Emperor. However, of all the gods
and goddesses in Heaven she was the only one who had ever had the power to
live outside her body spiritually. Although the loss of her own body was
tragic, it was not nearly as bad as the Yellow Emperor had assumed for she
could still roam the world of humanity at will and claim any other physical
form she desired.

Unbeknownst to the rulers of Heaven, Chi Youís spirit did not indeed lie
dormant inside his stone tomb. He secretly bade Mei to move amongst the
mortal creatures of the Middle Kingdom and spread the seeds of greed and
ambition. So corrupted, humanity lost its potential to grow beyond the
triple-tiered realm of Heaven, Earth, and Hell. It would forever be beholden
to the whims of the gods and goddesses. Nevertheless, human beings remained
tenacious and despite the darkness harbored in their souls they did the best
they could to live in peace with one another.

That peace was not lasting, unfortunately. Unable to resist their insatiable
temptations, the people of the Central Plains went to war. Their heroes
sought to collect the five Empyrean Stones in order to raise an army of the
dead to fight on their behalf. Although the stones were never reunited, the
war was still horrifying in all of its myriad aspects. Everyone, including
the Baiyun, suffered terribly as result.

Mei, appearing to the Baiyun leaders disguised in glamours designed to make
her seem kindly and wise, convinced them their defeat at the hands of the
Central Plains tribes was because they had forsaken Chi You so many years
ago. In truth, she told them, Chi You had been a just and kind god who was no
longer able to abide the corruption of Heaven and thus his apparent
rebellion. The Baiyun, feeling deeply ashamed of their ancestorsí betrayal,
once again took to worshipping Chi You as their God of War. Meanwhile, the
Beastman tribes, a race that had the appearance of being half man and half
beast, moved north toward Mount Kunlun to get away from the rampant
persecution of their kind in the Central Plains.

In the centuries since, many a kingdom has risen and fallen. The five
Empyrean Stones passed through hands too numerous to count. No one ever
succeeded in reuniting all of the stones, and after the war with the Central
Plains, no one really tried again.

That is until now.

With the new Qin threat to East Baiyue, the young chieftain Lan Wei has
finally decided to seek out the Empyrean Stones and bring them together once
again. By tapping into their power she hopes to resurrect her father, the
only one, she believes, capable of leading the Baiyun to victory against
their hated enemies.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                        Characters                                   G0220
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lan Wei
```````
Lan Wei is a Baiyue witch. In battle, she casts ancient spells, uses ancient
dances and activates Five-element magic. Lan Wei excels in Wood and Fire
magic and curses. Fire magic has powerful attack and Wood magic brings about
some disadvantageous effects to enemies such as Slow Down and Poisoning
besides causing damage. Curses can make a lot of enemies lose fighting
ability instantly.
Yan Hong
````````
Yan Hong is a sacrifice wizard. A wizard is a bridge linked with the gods.
They can make use of the power of the gods to bestow spiritual power upon
common people. This kind of power can not only help others, but also summon
ancient monsters. A wizard has low attack power, but his supplementary and
healing magic play an indispensable role in a combat party. Besides, he can
summon all kinds of monsters to help him fight.

Liang Hu
````````
Beastman soldiers are very strong. Although they act slowly, the damage power
is incredible. Throwing Stones and Explosion are medium-range attack skills
and some of their skills can cause damage to a group of enemies. Their beast
nature sometimes results in them becoming hysterical. If he becomes
hysterical Liang Hu will become extremely powerful. Since he was born with
high HP and constitution, Liang Hu always plays the role of shield in combat.
He draws the attention of enemies so that his party members can have time to
cast powerful spells.
Cai Xin
```````
Cai Xin is an assassin. She is greatly concerned about her weapons and
usually uses two blades. She can combine different kinds of attack skills to
create various new skills. This way she can easily achieve the maximum power
of her weapons. Because of her small size, Cai Xin can only use some light
and short blades. But this doesn't reduce her attack. With dexterous action,
she can cause deadly damage to her enemies from any angle.

Gai Nie
```````
Gai Nie is a Chinese paladin. Since he has been practicing swordsmanship for
a long time, his balanced build and straight swords display a harmonious
sense of masculine power. Paladins make good use of the energy cycle and
activate their own potential power. This way they can achieve both a high
level of attack and defense. During the Warring States period, paladins are
influenced by Mohist philosophy so that they emphasize teamwork as well as
individual improvement. Therefore, Gai Nie knew many supplementary skills.
Strategies:
```````````

Develop 5 different characters with 5 different element attributes namely
earth, metal etc.

Liang Hu is like a powerful tank, like your first line of defense, so give more
"wood" points and protect him, next is Paladin, give more "metal" points, then
Assassin, give more "earth" points, the last is wizard, give more "water"
points. Lanwei excels with both wood and fire, so it's your choice. my team is
like this, but it's not a standard configuration. try to experiment. Liang Hu -
Defense, Gai Nie and Cai Xin - Attack, Yan Hong - Healing. Use them wisely and
based on circumstances/quests.

Lan Wei's "wood cantrip" skill combined with Yan Hong's "summon stone creature"
skill works excellent on Single Enemy Bosses. Her skill almost makes the enemy
immobile, while the stone creature along with Liang Hu attacks the target. Add
the fire power of Lanwei and Yan Hong to the attack.

03.)                    BASICS                                       G0300
===============================================================================

I've kept this section short because it is explained in great detail in the
manual on CD2. Nevertheless here are some more tips before you begin:

Creating/Refining:
``````````````````
Before you create or refine something it is important that you save because it
is very hard to know what the end result will be or is wanted. You can always
dump or sell a mishap but you will have used up the items, too. Also note that
once you have found a new creation skill you should create/refine basic
weapons and equipment in order to level up the skill. Later in the game you
might not have the items for basic things and you are not skilled enough
to use the creation skill for better items.
Skill Level:
````````````
Skills can be upgraded by skill scrolls that can be found in many places
especially treasure boxes. Some quests or events also upgrade skills of your
character. For the item creation skill, you can upgrade at the blacksmith
after reaching the required level (check Skills Menu -> Creation to see the
required level) or create an item with the skill after the level acquired, and
the skill will level up. See the skills section for a list of all available
skills for each character.

Anger:
``````
Each character's Anger fills up when they kill enemies. When it hits 50 you
can use the specific skill for some major attack. Everybody has their own
meter so if Lan Wei kills a monster it only counts towards her's and not the
team. Therefore you need to kill 250 enemies minimum to fill each person's
Anger meter. *Hint* When you use the Anger skill your counter resets to 0, but
if you kill enemies with the used Anger skill they already count towards the
total again. Keep that in mind when you have the opportunity to kill many foes
with it.
Finding Items:
``````````````
If you are looking for dropped items after killing an enemy or opening a chest,
press ALT and a thin menu will pop up on the left of the screen. Click on the
item you want to take and you will go there automatically. This should prevent
pixel hunting a little, especially during the cure mission.

Luring Enemies:
```````````````
It is never fun to fight against a large crowd in this game. One reason is
because Lan Wei is hard to make a good hit if the range is blocked and the
other is the obvious disadvantage of having to fight several enemies.
Therefore it is always a good idea to lure an enemy away from the crowd. Go
near one and as soon as they start walking towards you, go the direction you
came from and they'll usually follow you a bit. They will stop after too long
so don't push your luck, they'll then return to their original position and
usually ignoring you on their way back. Once they are far enough a way from the
crowd without raising suspicion, go in for the kill.
Street Vendors:
```````````````
When you find street vendors, don't forget to talk to them. Always tell them
they are well informed and accept their request to give a message to their
brothers. The street vendors will give you an extra 200 gold each time. (E.g.
200 from the first vendor, 400 from the second and so on) When you have
reached the last one and have relayed the message along your journey, an extra
feature will be available to you.

Gold:
`````
If you explore and find lots of items you are bound to sell some. I have
noticed that one has way too much gold especially in the later parts of the
game so don't be too stingy. At some points in the game, however, you need
some money for quests so be aware of that. You could always sell stuff when
you need money though. Each map has plenty of equipment stored away in chests,
rocks, trees and other places and the enemies drop items too. As you progress
you will get the feel of where stuff is to be found. Please note that you need
a lot of gold towards the end of your first play through if you wish to buy a
special item from a unique trader.
Character Element Attributes:
`````````````````````````````
The highest attribute of your character will be your character element. If
there are 2 or more attributes at the same level, the attribute will be the
first by elemental order starting with metal.
   Metal = Yellow.
   Water = Blue.
   Wood  = Green.
   Fire  = Red.
   Earth = Pink.
Some elements are strong against others. Try to get compatible equipment for
your characters based on their element.

Experience:
```````````
All the character have the same experience points. The characters on standby
or unconscious ones also gains the same amount of experience and level up
together. Thus all the character are always the same level. When a message
appears or when you see there's a + sign in the character portrait, open the
character menu (C) and click the + icon to distribute points to the
attributes. Remember to do so wisely because the amount of each attribute will
affect the requirements of materials in the item creation system.
Metal influences attack power of attack skills. Important for most characters.
Wood influences a character's HP and health recovery speed. Equally important,
	combine this with a good dodge and hit rate for a decent fighter.
Water influences a character's MP and recover speed, as well as the power of
	assisting skills. If you change your primary attack to something that
	required plenty of MP you might consider giving this a boost,
	otherwise I would leave it quite low.
Fire influences a character's strike and dodge rate. Don't underestimate this
	attribute!
Earth influences a character's defense. If you feel you get hit too much, even
	with strong armor, then give this some extra.
Like in some other RPGs the experience points gained for defeating an enemy
depends on your level. If you are high levels you will gain less as if you
were on a low levels. I have set pointers in the game which level you should
be at. At other parts of the game the same enemies will yield different
experience point and have higher attack/defense and HP etc. If you find that
the local foes don't yield enough experience points to level up it is probably
time to move on. If you follow the levels suggested in the walkthrough you
shouldn't have too much trouble even if you are a novice gamer.
                        Equipment                                    G0320
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[I've noticed that every helm, armour, weapon etc have hidden attributes that
can only be triggered by some calculated approach of equipping. there are 4
types (not sure about the total) with color codes in order - Light Blue, Dark
Blue,Cyan and Golden Yellow. both blues are standard magic items and you can
check them when you buy equipment from a smith. Ex:- for Light Blue =
HP+50, MP+3%, Exorcism Attack+5% etc. for Dark Blue = Attack Rate+1,Defence
Power+1 and most of them have the value 1 only, but here comes the complicated
complimentary attributes. a. if a character with high metal attributes is
fitted with a matching metal attribute item, then the Light Blue attribute of
the item doubles/triples (don't know the limit). 80% of the time, it's the
Attack Rate+1 and it increases based on the character's own Attack Rate. b. if
a character with High metal attributes is fitted with matching attribute item,
and if the character is fitted with 2 items (helm, armour) matching the names
(brand), then the Deep Blue Attribute turns into Cyan color . it's like the 2
items complimenting each other. Ex:- Beast man with high metal attributes is
fitted with "BARBARIOUS WAR HELMET and BARBARIOUS WAR ARMOUR" and both are
metal attribute items. so, they complimented each other and the cyan activated.
for me it's HP Drain-40% attribute. c. if a character is fitted like the above
mentioned and more than 2 items complimented each other, then the Golden Yellow
gets activated, and for me it's HP Recovery Rate - 50% for Assasin.the
important thing is as long as you keep the yellow attribute active, the cyan
attribute value increases based on your kills/experience points. Ex-Initially
Assassin's Sword AP is +2 (deepblue),then turns into Cyan by two matching
brands and still AP+2 only. when she got 3 matching brands, the Yellow
activated and the cyan value (AP+2) increased with certain no of kills. In this
example i used Attack power as cyan attribute, but it can be anything ranging
from DP to MAX HP. so, keep the item combination intact,yellow attribute active
and the Cyan attribute increases forever.thought that the increase is based on
level/points etc, but it increased from +2 to +18 in a single level only. All
you have to do is always buy items with the same name (SET), but remember the
attributes. you can't create items with powerful hidden attributes. it's easy
to check whether an item is complementing the other. when you equip an item,
you'll see an animation and hear music in the Equip window. this is a sign for
section "a" above. if you addtionally see a laminated broad boarder around an
item apart from the animation and music, then it's a sign for section "b". if
you see the color of the attribute filled broad border around an item, apart
from animation and music, then it's a sign for section "c". the music differs
in all instances. Ex:- for a high Metal attribute person, the broad border
fills with Yellow (metal attribute color). That's it - experiment.
AP-Attack Power, DP-Defence Power, AR-Attack Rate and the activated attribute
is with Brackets().
04.)                         WALKTHROUGH                             G0400
===============================================================================
Some general hints: Talk to everybody in an area. Search all the trees,
rocks, chests and pots for items. Save often and in different slots. Try
to create and refine weapons with new items when you get them. If the weapons
and equipment you can buy are a lot better then yours then you should create
or buy some new ones. Sell old junk if your inventory is getting full because
each area has new items to pick up.
"Not in log" means the quest is not listed in your Quest Log. It might be
mentioned in the log but not under quests. You still get experience for
completing some of them or they will lead to other quests later on. Extra
quests prolong your game by around 30% and it might alter your ending too.
Obviously if you didn't do some quests then you will have to disregard any
quests I have written that follow-up on that particular one. This walkthrough
will often presume all or at least most sidequests are attempted. I personally
suggest doing most sidequests as they will naturally extend the game, level
up your party and otherwise the game might be a very boring hack & slash game.
*Hint* If you want to buy the best weapons and equipment the game has to offer
for sale you better start collecting and selling all items you can find and
don't need. Each area has a lot and it's possible to rake up plenty of gold on
your journey. The spot to buy the items is near the end of Chapter 8.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                        Chapter 1                                    G0410
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cloudrose Village:
``````````````````
After the introduction you find yourself in the village. You can now do
several small quests and gain some levels in Cloudmore Valley. Don't forget
to check the shopkeeper in the southeast corner for some equipment, or better
yet, create your own for now to boost your creation skill.

**Bring Phoenix Wood to GRANDMA: (not in log)
Don't get confused, there's no phoenix wood. What you are looking for is pine
wood with a fire element. Search through the village and you can collect wood
pieces of the trees, and while you are at it collect some ore from the rocks.
There are also lots of chests and breakable pots. If you cannot find the
right wood in the village, go to Cloudrose Valley and check the trees there.
When you find it, go to see Grandma in Bay Yue's House and the quest is
complete. You get 50 exp for this.

**Bring Father's Hat to AH SHENG: (not in log)
Ah Sheng wants to borrow a hat so go into Lan Xiong's Common Room and then
the Bedroom where it should be on the shelf. Bring it to him and you gain 50
exp.

**Help AH DAN buy a bottle of Tiger Bone Wine from the inn:
Ah Dan is the little boy walking in front of the inn. He lost the money for
the wine and you can accept this quest and buy the wine for him. Once you
have completed "Help BOSS HAO from the inn look for snake meat" you can give
the Tiger Bone Wine to him for 100 exp.

**Help BOSS HAO from the inn look for snake meat:
You want to buy the wine for Ah Dan but the owner Boss Hao will only sell it
to you for a high price. You can bargain down to 300 gold pieces but you will
still not have enough to pay for it. Boss Hao offers you a exchange for your
ribbon and you accept but Boss Hao knows how much this means to you so he
offers you another quest. Go slay snakes in Cloudmore Valley and then pick up
the dropped snake meat. Bring it to him and he will give you the wine you
want. You will find snake meat at Cloudmore Valley. Return to him and he will
hand over the Tiger Bone Wine.

**Give a Fruit to XIAO MIAO: (not in log)
Xiao Miao who is sitting in front of the inn likes to eat fresh fruit. If you
have already gotten the fruits for the previous quest you don't need to go
back to Cloudmore Valley and throw rocks at the monkeys as you should have 1
spare fruit. Give it to Xiao Miao and you will receive 50 exp and some info
about another fruit in the Mantrap Forest. Go get this tomorrow!

**Get Fruits for CHEF YAO: (not in log)
Bring 3 fruits to Chef Yao in the inn and he can make you some wine. To get
this fruit head to Cloudmore Valley and find the rock pile in the middle of
the map. Chose option 2 so you throw a rock at the monkeys. Doing so will
yield you 4 fruit. Return to the inn and talk to Chef Yao and he will tell
you the wine is finished tomorrow.
Note: Give 1 fruit to Xiao Miao first or you will hand over all fruit to the
      tavern chef and find yourself unable to finish that mini-quest. Another
      way is to drop a fruit on the floor and only have 3 in possession when
      talking to Chef Yao, then pick it up afterwards.

**Get Snake Skin for UNCLE HE: (not in log)
Uncle He wants a snake skin to wrap around his walking stick. Slay some
snakes in Cloudmore Valley and pick up their dropped skin, then bring it to
him and you will gain 50 exp.

**Help WU XIONG deliver Flower Wine to OLD MAN QIN:
Wu Xiong is in front of Old Man Qin's House and wants to deliver his wine.
Offer to do this errand for him and you start the quest. You gain 50 exp for
accepting this quest alone.

Cloudmore Valley:
`````````````````
**Antidote for TIE SHENG: (not in log)
Go to Uncle Chi Huan's house in Cloudmore Village and you will find 2
antidote in the chest against snake poison. This will cure Tie Sheng in the
Cloudrose Valley who helps you fight the snakes if he is nearby any.
Fighting the snakes isn't too hard; try to be at least Level 3 when you leave
this place for good. You can't go to the summit nor the cave so return to the
village. Go to Lan Wei's room and then walk towards her bed. A cutscene will
start. Battle through the flashback episodes; you can't die nor should not
have any trouble progressing. When finished, chapter one also comes to an
end.
Note: You won't get the opportunity to do any of the previous quests in the
      village once you go to bed!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                        Chapter 2                                    G0420
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cloudrose Village:
``````````````````
You awake the following morning. Nobody else is awake but Ah Wa. Go to him and
practice your magic. Then...

**Seek out CHI HUAN and save AH WA:
To cure Ah Wa go to Chi Huan's House. After some dialogue you will have to
go and find the Snake King's Gallbladder. Once you return from the cave, go
to Chi Huan's House and he will give you the antidote for Ah Wa. So give the
antidote to Ah Wa and he will be cured.

**Go to the SERPENT CAVE in CLOUDMORE VALLEY and retrieve the Snake King's
  Gallbladder:
Your first real mission. Once you get outside, talk to Liang Hu and he will
join your part again. Then proceed to Cloudmore Valley, fighting more snakes
on the way. Go to the Northwest of the first plateau and inside the Serpent
Cave. Clear the cave of Snakes and you should be already Level 4 when facing
the Snake King in the North West corner of the dungeon. His attacks weak and
he moves very slow, if you are having trouble you can always run away and
wait for your HP to recover before returning to his area. Slay him and 100
exp. After you slay him a cutscene ensues. Defeat the remaining snakes you
might have left out and pick up the bladder. When done exit the cave and
return to the village.

Go see your father in the Common Room. After you talk to him it will suddenly
be evening again. Time for more mini-quests.

**Get Father's Hat from AH SHENG: (not in log)
You gave Ah Sheng a hat yesterday, now it is time to get it back. Simply talk
to him and he will hand it over straight away.

**Give XIAO MIAO some money for candy: (not in log)
Xiao Miao wants to buy some candy so make sure you have 10 gold to give to
him. He will be happy and you will be happy to receive 50 exp.

**Get Monkey Wine from CHEF YAO: (not in log)
If you have the 3 fruit to Chef Yao the previous day, you can now pick it up
at the inn. Talk to him and you will receive it and 200 exp along with. You
will need a bottle of wine much much later in game so don't use or sell it!

**Help UNCLE HE repair his damaged walking stick:
Uncle He broke his walking stick but is too embarrassed to talk to Dabhand Da,
the shopkeeper. You accept the quest to fix it for him so head over to the
shop. You get two choices now but I recommend telling him the truth, I believe
both will yield in a repaired stick and their disagreement resolved. Return
the walking stick to Uncle He and this quests ends with you gaining 100 exp.

**Help WU XIONG deliver Flower Wine to OLD MAN QIN: (continued)
Old Man Qin is back today so go to his home and talk to him. You can trick him
into exchanging the wine for a piece of clothing. The choices are:
Cloth Shoes:	Def +6 ; Level 2 ; Attribute 2 (Earth)
Cloth Hat:	Def +9 ; (Def +1) ; Level 2 ; Attribute 2 (Wood)
Clothes:	Def +2 ; (Def +1) ; Level 2 ; Attribute 2 (Fire)
Either way you decide to pick equipment or not, you will receive 200 exp.

**Find BAI YUE:
Grandma tell you that Bai Yue has been missing for a while and asks to look
for her. You can find her in the Mantrap Wood where she is being attacked by a
Mantrap. A cutscene will start when you get near it and then defeat the
mantrap for some more scenes.
Note: Many gamers have said they don't get this quest so it could be random or
      a bug. Often Bai Yue can't be found in the Mantrap Wood but will appear
      once you have spoken to villagers about her. There does not seem to be
      any big loss for missing out on this quest so ignore it and move on.

Mantrap Wood:
`````````````
**Bring Antidote to TIAN SHENG: (not in log)
Just as you enter Mantrap Wood you will see Tian Sheng standing around. Talk to
him and if you received the antidote from Chi Huan you will give it to him.
Your reward is 50 exp. Unfortunately he does not help you fight fiends.
While you are here, get up to at least Level 5 and pick up the fruit Xiao Miao
told you about yesterday which you can find at the north in a tree bole. It
will be used in another sidequest much much later in the game.
Now you can go to sleep again. When you wake up you will only be able to go
to the Sacred Hall. After some storyline you will be back in your room. Go
outside and talk to Uncle Chi. Go the your father's grave and Yan Hong will
join you. Distribute his attribute points and give him the Wizard's Hat.
Return to the village and talk to Uncle Chi Huan. After the conversation, exit
the hut and talk to Yin Cheng. Then go around the building and into Lan
Xiong's bedroom. In the shelf is a Bronze Key which you can use to open the
nearby chest. In the chest is a statue for the bigger statue in the
Sacrificial Chamber. Take the Stone Key and join with Liang Hu so you can
infiltrate the Spider Cave.
Spider Cave:
````````````
**Go to the SPIDER CAVE to look for the Empyrean Stone:
The Spider Cave is situated in the northwest of the Mantrap Wood. Fight your
way through and slay all spiders in the cave too. You should be at around
Level 6 when you take on the Spider Kings. They are behind the doors in the
northeastern part of the cave where you will find a crystal and pick up the
Empyrean Stone. After you take it, the 2 Spider Kings will appear. Focus on
them and ignore the small spiders. Make good use of your skills, especially
summoning Sod Fiends.

After you beat them, return to the village through the Mantrap Wood. You will
receive bad news once you arrive. Now it's time to leave Cloudmore so walk
towards the Valley. A cutscene will quickly interrupt but then you can
continue onwards.

Cloudmore Valley:
`````````````````
Get through the Valley and exit at the north east. The snakes here don't yield
great experience anymore so I so you could just run through to the Heaven's
Summit. However, check the rocks and trees for more items if you need them,
and there is a skill item in a treasure box just next to the entrace to
Heaven's Summit, all the way up north.
Heaven's Summit:
````````````````
Go all the way east at the lower level and enter the cave, there's a skill
upgrade to be found here. Outside all the enemies will have respawned. For
plenty of Scorpion Fish items just keep re-enter the cave. On this map you
should reach Level 7. Fight your way to the top and another cutscene/flashback
will trigger. You can't go back once you get to this point.

Ancient Path:
`````````````
**The Qin troops are attacking Giant Keep. Make haste to save it:
Afterwards you will find yourself on the Ancient Path where you meet Cai Xin.
She will join your team so distribute her attributes and select the three
characters you wish to use. You can switch at any time as long as you aren't
in a fight etc. I personally chose Cai Xin instead of Yan Hong for now. As for
the haste: I took my sweet time here so I don't think you can actually fail
this by taking too long. Battle through this area of Qin Soldiers and Hermits
until you are Level 8. You don't need to defeat everyone here and can go
straight to Giants Keep in the North.
Giant Keep:
```````````
Here you have to fight more Qin Soldiers, Hermits and a Lieutenant. Use skills
to increase your HP recovery when you fight close combat with him. Clear the
entire area of Qin enemies and the town's chief will talk to you. Afterwards
you are free to roam this village and pick up items. The house north of the inn
is a Blacksmith (mislabeled "Commoner's residence") who offers creation skill
upgrades if necessary.

**Find Crystal Jade of VILLAGER: (not in log)
There is a Burned House next to the Inn with a villager standing next to it
with a water bucket. Talk to him and when he mentioned the crystal, chose
<wait a moment...> until Lan Wei remembers about the 5 Elements. Go into the
building and walk towards the left corner opposite the entrance. You will find
the crystal automatically along with 200 exp point.
Note: You must be at least Level 7 to do this quest.

Walk towards the Wizard for another quest...

The Other Side of Giant Mountain:
`````````````````````````````````
**Go to the other side of the mountain to look for LIN FEN and recover the
  Vessel of War:
You will automatically talk to the Wizard standing next to the altar if you get
close to him. He will talk about the missing Vessel and that LIN FEN took it.
You can chose to go after her and start this quest. You can also decline to by
saying you will ask her when she's back. So go to the other side of the
mountain which is north of the village. Fight your way around the mountain
until you find Lin Fen. Save and heal before you speak to her. She has a lot of
HP but shouldn't be any problem. When she's nearly dead you will speak to her
again so go along with her story. When you have defeated the Giant and have
returned from the village (see next 2 quests) you will have to defeat more
Giants until you reach Lin Fen. If they become too much to handle simply run
towards Lin Fen and she will close the cave, leaving you with the Vessel of
War. The dropped items will disappear once the sequence starts to make sure you
pick them up before it starts. Avoid this by not going too far to the left as
the sequence only triggers when you pass the middle of the inverted "V" shape
of the path terrain. Once you cave is sealed, the the treasure chest on the
tier above will regenerate. Return to the village one last time and talk to the
Wizard to lose the Vessel but gain 600 exp.
**Kill[ed] the GIANT on the other side of the mountain:
After you have beaten Lin Fen (previous quest), go slay the Giant that is on
his way towards the village. He's a piece of cake but you still get 600 exp
for finishing this quest.
**Return[ed] to the Giant Keep to warn the WIZARD:
After you have defeated the Giant (previous quest), return to the Giant Keep
and talk to the Wizard. You get 300 exp for warning the villagers so return
to The Other Side Of Giant Mountain to complete the Vessel of War quest too.
After you have done all here you can leave Giant Keep for good via the Ancient
Path. Here you will find your old friends, the red snakes, which are now
tougher and give you more exp. Slay them and the Scorpion Fish until you reach
at least Level 9. Finally, go west to Redclay Valley to conclude Chapter 2.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                        Chapter 3                                    G0430
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Redclay Valley:
```````````````
You enter the Valley and straight away you need to battle through a horde of
Qin soldiers. Once you defeated this army, picking up some items in the area
and then continue onwards to the Village at the northwestern part of the map.

Redclay Village:
````````````````
There will be a cutscene at the bridge. All the villagers will be unfriendly
to you. Ignore them and talk to Little Stone in the northeastern part.
Afterwards go out the nearby exit but you will immediately return for a scene
with the bandits.
**Help the people in the Redclay Village repel the bandits:
You will fight them after the cutscene but you just need to defeat the Bandit
Lord to end this battle.
From now on all the villagers will be friendly to you so you can do more
quests. Also talk to the Vendor and mention he has a great information so he
will tell you about his brothers for which you can take a message. This gives
you 200 gold. Pick up items everywhere including the Remorseless Hurt spell
upgrade.
**Find axe for VILLAGER: (not in log)
In the west part of the village is a villager looking for his axe. The axe is
in a tree near the river. You gain 300 exp
Note: For some reason they villager still asks for his axe after this quest
      is finished?!
**Help WANG ER investigate his missing wine:
Go to the Inn and ask for wine. There isn't any so you will be redirected to
Wang Er at the West Side of town. His home has a Storehouse next to it and a
female farmer at the front. Inside he will tell you about his missing wine so
head to the Storehouse and search the barrel twice. You will discover and
defeat the bat. Return to Wang Er where you will get wine and 400 exp. If you
don't have the wine (anymore) from an earlier quest in Cloudmore Village, keep
this one instead as you need a bottle later in the game.Talk to the Boss at
the Inn and he wants you to get rid of some bats in the Loft of the Inn. Go
upstairs, kill the three bats and return for a whooping 1,000 gold reward.
**Hunt the bear for the HUNTER: (not in log)
The hunter north of the river wants you to check the traps he laid in the
forest just north of the entrance to Redclay Valley. Go there and fall into the
2 trap so that the bear appears. Mention to him that you want to get some fur
and you receive three.
Talk to a small child in the northwest to start the next quest.
Whitesand Valley:
`````````````````
**Solve[d] the crisis in Whitesand Valley:
The small child will start this quest. Go through the Whitesand Valley and
defeat Qin soldiers, finding items to pick up while you are there. Your
goal here is to defeat the General in the Farm at the western part of the map.
There is also a Flow of Life spell upgrade and a Pill of Resurrection. When
you have defeated the General, you will gain 800 exp & a Five Divine Elements
spell upgrade.

**Send the CHILD back to Redclay Village.
Take the red jade from the child's dead father he is standing next to. Talk to
the boy and you will escort it back to the village. Once there you will receive
400 exp. Talk to the child one last time to get the red jade item back into
your inventory.

**Talk to JIAN TUO: (not in log)
When you return to Whitesand Valley after the child quests, JIAN TUO will be
in the middle of the map. Simply talk to him when there is no fight going on
and this quest is finished. It is important you do this so you can complete
other quests later on in the game.

Defeating Qin Soldiers and later Panthers/Foxes should get you up to Level
11, if not I suggest you fight some more. When you are ready, leave the
village via the northeast exit.

Outside Redclay Village:
````````````````````````
**Help LI YI deliver the parcel to Jiuyuan:
You will see the scholar lying on the floor. Talk to him and more bandits will
appear. After they are dead, talk to the scholar again and you get the choice
to deliver the parcel for him.
Defeat more bandits if you wish, I personally think they are a waste of time
at this point. Continue your journey to the northwest and you will get a
cutscene just before you enter Wuxian County.
** Go to Jinyang to call on CHENG YU:
The man stopping is Cheng Yu and he will give you the quest to go to Jinyang
and find him behind the wine shop. You will get to Jinyang automatically later
in the game. Depart for Wuxian County.
Wuxian County:
``````````````
You can already see Qin soldiers when you arrive, go near them to start a
cutscene.

**Defeat the Qin troops in Wuxian County:
You will need to defeat all the archers and magicians in the area and not only
the General. This should not be too hard, just don't get surrounding by too
many soldiers including the General.

When they are defeated you can relax again but most of this town is boring.
Remember the guy that was killed during the cutscene? Talk to him.

**Help JING JUN deliver a message to GAI NIE in Yuci.
A dying Jing Jun will tell you about his needs so accept to deliver a message
to Gai Nie in Yuci. We will get there soon.

**Protect YANG JIE's jade: (not in log)
Go towards the most northern house and you will see a young boy in front. Talk
to him and then he will run inside. Inside you can talk to Yang Jie and his
story about the jade a thief is planning to steal during the night. Your group
will stay during the night to protect it and the next morning you can talk to
Yang Jie again mention the jewelry. It was given to the neighbor. Go next
door into the small hut and find a wounded man. Talk to him and find out the
jade is gone. Return to Yang Jie and he will run out to the hut so follow him
and talk to him yet again. In the end you don't get a reward but a note in
your log about the event.

When finished with all this, go west into Blackwind Woods.

Blackwind Woods:
````````````````
Here's nothing but found items and fighting enemies. You can follow the path
around the area or take a shortcuts straight through to the west. There will
be more enemies in groups but if you intend to just run through anyway it
won't matter. Foxes and Panthers should not give you any trouble. Afterwards
you end up at Yuci.
Yuci:
`````
After the short scene with Yin Cheng you can roam the village. Check out the
blacksmith for Item Creation upgrades and nice equipment. If you can afford
some and have been too lazy to create equipment yourself then sell some stuff
and buy new things for your party.

**Quickly leave the Tiger Fish Cave:
When you talk to the merchant you will hear about the Tiger Fish Cave and his
antidote. Buy the expensive one (1,000 gold) ONLY and enter the cave just next
to where he is standing. As soon as you enter you will be poisoned and the
quest begins. Your standby character is also poisoned so keep that in mind if
you want to explore the cave. Go north and all around while avoiding the Tiger
Fish. You will meet Xu Wen the merchant again and fight him. If you still want
to explore the cave go ahead but it's not worth it. The exit is where you
fought Xu Wen.

**Kill the con artist XU WEN:
He is easy and when you defeat Xu Wen your entire party will be cured.

**Go to the house north of the inn and get the extra offering:
If you have done the previous quest you can find a chest in the middle of the
village that, when opened, will crumble to pieces. A man called Xu Wu asks you
to pay 1,000 gold tribute but say no and instead you should go to a house in
the north to pick up the extra offering. When you arrive at the house you can
break the pot but a man called Xu Cai will rush in and complain about the
broken pot. Now you need to pay 500 gold for the pot. After this you leave,
and the next quest starts immediately.

**Investigate the causes for all the strange occurrences today:
After these strange events go to the first house you got to when you arrived
in the village. Inside you will hear the conversation about earlier events and
finally fight the three brothers. They are very easy to take down. Afterwards
you gain 1,000 exp and get Divine Retribution & Feng Xiang Cut skill upgrades.
Additionally, the brothers' side house is now unlocked containing a chest.

**Help JING JUN deliver a message to GAI NIE in Yuci:
Finally you should look for Gai Nie in the village but nobody is willing to
talk to you. At the north side of the river is a bridge with a blind man who
will tell you about another couple living across the river. Go east until you
reach the house and go inside. After talking to Shuang Yang who is actually
Gai Nie. Quest complete.

When you leave you will hear another conversation. Stay at the inn, go
upstairs after talking to the innkeeper. During the night you will be attacked
by Qin soldiers.

**Help GAI NIE fight the Qin Soldiers trying to capture him:
Return to Gai Nie's house while fighting the soldiers. When you arrive at the
entrance there will be another cutscene. After this you need to fight a lot of
soldiers. Concentrate on the General because when he dies all the other
soldiers vanish. You get a skill upgrade for winning.

Now Gai Nie has joined your party so distribute his attribute points and give
him better equipment. You should still have some you found earlier and also
return to the blacksmith for more items. Open the lockbox to find his sword.
When you are done exploring the area go west into Jing Yang.

Jing Yang:
``````````
Nothing to do here but collect items and fight boars who can stun you for a
few seconds but that's about it. The white boars are slightly tougher. The
exit to Jinyang is at the northwest corner but you will have to slalom around
the hills to get there. You will most likely be Level 12 when you get to the
end of Chapter 3.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                        Chapter 4                                    G0440
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jinyang:
````````
This city is huge. While exploring you might already come upon some quests
automatically. Don't worry about the Qin soldiers here, but they won't let you
enter the town center.

**In Jinyang, chase[d] the robbers:
You will talk to a Young Swordsdealer just west of when you enter the city. He
will tell you to meet him in the Inn later. When you get there, talk to the
Innkeeper who tells you the dealer is upstairs. Upstairs you will find out the
sword it too expensive so go back down. Talk to the Innkeeper again and he
will mention another person who went upstairs. Return to the dealer only to
find him robbed. Now you have to find the robber Han Xing. He is just north of
the Inn within a small patch of forest. Talk to him (Young Man) and fight him.
When you defeat him he will escape though.

**Go to Jinyang to call on CHENG YU: (continued)
Remember Cheng Yu who stopped you earlier on your travels? You can find his
home all the way to the north but he is not home. You can speak to Lin Jiang
in front who will tell you that Cheng Yu hasn't been home for some time.

**Look for CAI XIN, who was angry with Yan Hong and ran away:
After you have been to Cheng Yu's house, Zhang Liang will appear at the east
gate. He will automatically start a conversation when you get near him. Go to
the inn and stay there over night. During the night, Cai Xin will get angry
and run off so you have to look for her. Talk to the nightwatcher just south
and the old man near the east gate. Cai Xin ran into the fields just north
when you exit the east gate. Talk to her and a scene will end the night.

Don't forget to visit the street vendor in the north, and the marketplace has
a pot seller who claims his won't break. Break one and see what he says. There
is a blacksmith who can teach you creation skills and sell equipment. It is
about the same stuff you could buy in Yuci. There is grocer for healing items
as well as decoration. Also you can give the beggar money on the east side of
town and each time you give her double (10, 20, 40 etc). There doesn't seem to
be much point to it though. Get the skill scrolls near the horse ranch and
inside the ranch house. A man nearby will also tell you your fortune for 100
gold pieces. Be aware that once you talk to him you can't back out of paying.
If you did talk to him by accident, you can get your money back later in the
game.

**Help FARMER move his cart: (not in log)
At the market place you might have noticed that a cart is blocking the entrance
at the south side. Talk to the farmer next to it and after you give some tips
you will receive an easy 200 exp.

**Help WEI SHEN and TIAN MEI of Jinyang find the Thousand Year Ginseng:
Talk to Wei Shen in the marketplace area and you will find out about the
Thousand Year Ginseng to cure Tian Mei. When you are in Peng Wudi's estate for
your next quest you will get to a kitchen and there is chest containing the
ginseng as well as a scroll. Bring it back to Wei Shen and they will be happy.
This earns you 400 exp.
Note: Going to Skylake village before completing this mission will fail it.

You will hear about Peng Wudi's song being sick from a servant walking in
town. Go to his house by leaving Jinyang to the west, just below the market.

Peng Wudi's House:
``````````````````
**Look for meat from the back of a Tiger Fish in order to make the antidote
  for young master Peng:
After you are greeted by the guard you can roam the estate. It is huge and you
will need to run around anyway so keep the exploring to a minimum. First enter
Peng Wudi's Room in the first area. Talk to him and you will find out his son
was poisoned by a Tiger Fish. As you have hopefully done the earlier quest in
Yuci you will know how to cure the poison. You will need 3 items but your task
is only to get the meat from the Tiger Fish Cave. The entrance is just west of
the first area and you will probably have noticed it while entering Peng Wudi's
House. The cave is small and you can easily clear out all the fish. A fish in
the back of the cave will drop the meat you require. If you are poisoned and
run low on health just wait for the effects to wear off, your HP to rise a
little and then continue onwards. Return to the estate and find Yi Fei's room
just west of the sick son's Gentleman's Room. He will hand over the other two
ingredients, wolfberry and snow lotus. Now you have to go to the kitchen in the
west of the estate. (While you are here, pick up the ginseng for Wei Shen) Talk
to the chef who will prepare the antidote. With the antidote in hand you can
return to the Gentleman's room. Talk to Wudi Peng and the son is cured. This
gives you 500 exp and when you go to see him again at his room he offers you
3,000 gold which I think you shouldn't decline. He also asks you to find out
who poisoned his son.
**Look for the person who poisoned the Peng family:
Wudi Peng asks you to find out who poisoned his son after you have cured him.
First go to Yi Fei's Room and talk to him until he mentions some strangers who
have visited recently. Go to the kitchen and talk to the chef until he
mentions some drunk craftsmen who were here recently. Check out the screen in
Peng Wudi's room. Return to Yi Fei who will tell you the two are staying in
the rooms on the east side. Go into one and kill the craftsman. Then go into
the other only to find he was escaped from Yi Fei. Nevertheless the quest is
complete after reporting to Peng Wudi and you will get 500 exp.
**Kill Peng Wudi and Yi Fei:
When you return to Jinyang a young man will stop and fight you. He will then
tell you more about the tyrant so accept the quest and visit Yi Fei's house
north of the inn. After talking to his parents you can start the rampage in
the Peng Wudi estate. First you will meet Yi Fei, be aware that he is a good
fighter. Now you can either defeat him or lose fight. If you killed him then
there will be eight servants patrolling the estate, otherwise the place is
cleared out. Either way, make your way to the Foyer in the first area of the
estate. In here you will meet Peng Wudi and the battle begins. He has a lot of
HP but not great defense. Unfortunately there are a lot of furniture and
pillars in this room but two close combat fighters should do the killing
without much help from Lan Wei. When you defeat him you will receive 1,200
exp and a skill upgrade. If you want you can go to Yi Fei's House and report
to his parents but there is nothing more to gain from doing so.
Note: Experience points for this quest are the same whether you kill him or
      not.
Now that you are finished here, talk to Zhang Liang who is still waiting for
you in the east part of Jinyang. Together leave for Tallcloud Mountain to the
northeast.
Tallcloud Mountain:
```````````````````
Talk to the street vendor here and you should get 600 gold by accepting to
pass on a message to his brothers. Tallcloud Mountain is full of panthers,
bigger ones as before, and foxes. Killing them along the way will surely bring
your party to Level 13. Go east along the path and after a short while you can
continue east for some items and then backtrack or go north and exit the
mountain.

Tallcloud Village:
``````````````````
You will see Jiang Tuo again but there isn't much going on with him right now.
He asks for your name and you don't want to tell him. The first house belongs
to Ji Chen. Talk to him and he will lead you downstairs where you get another
Empyrean Stone. After the cutscene, return back for a scroll. Also take the
other four scrolls and give them to somebody other than Yan Hong. Hold on to
them for much later in the game. Before you leave you need to talk to him
again but then you can roam the village. One house has a skill scroll for Cai
Xin.
**Help MO QIAN look for Ling Zhu Grass:
Talk to the girl before the bridge and she will ask you to look for Ling Zhu
Grass. It will be along the river. There is also poisoned grass but don't
worry as the effects will wear off quickly and you can use it as a healing
item later. Run along both sides of the river and press ALT to see if there
are any plants to pick up. If not, go into a house and return outside. When
you find one, speak to Mo Qian and this quest is complete. (300 exp)
**Help BAI SHAN look for three bundles of Ling Zhu Grass:
Go to Bai Shan's house and talk to him. You will need to find three more of
the same plant. Do the same again as before until you have three of the
correct plant. Then hand them to Bai Shan for 500 exp.
**Investigate the reason for people being poisoned:
At the northeastern part of the village you might have noticed a huge boulder
with a magnifying glass when you hover your pointer over it. Click on the rock
and your party will move it. Go inside the cave and follow it through. For a
change this one is linear and the end has the Venom Demon's Heart. Killing him
should not pose a problem. He poisons you but that's nothing new for you.
After it is dead, pick up the items including the Heart. Leave the cave and
find Mo Qian which ends this quest with a 1000 exp reward.
**Cure the villagers: (not in log)
The antidote is ready, speak to Bai Shan and he will give you 4 for curing the
sick villagers. There are two in Mo Qian's House who will get an antidote each.
The house with the sunflowers in front has a sick patient who needs two
antidotes like the doctor said it might be the case. You need to give him one
antidote, leave the house and come back to give him the second! You get 200
experience per antidote so that's 800 exp altogether.
Note: How did Mo Qian get into the house from the river before you did?!
**Cure BAI SHAN: (not in log)
The doctor is still sick, talking to him will reveal more about his past. Talk
to Jiang Tuo you saw earlier (entrance to Tallcloud Village) and he will tell
you how to cure the doctor. Go back to Bai Shan's house and order Mo Qian to
prepare the heart you collected earlier. Tell her to make an antidote just like
Jiang Tuo told you (third line). You must do complete this quest or he won't
reappear later on.
This is all for Tallcloud Village, go west to Sky Lake Village.
Sky Lake Village:
`````````````````
Here you can find a throw stone upgrade scroll in a house and a pill of
resurrection in a chest in the forest. Also talk to the resident and he will
mention Li San's debt.

**Look for LITTLE STONE, who ran away from home:
Go north of the village and find the little boy. Don't be too rude to him and
return to the village. His parents are in the house next to the resident.
Talking to the father will officially start this quest. Go back to the boy in
the forest and lead him home. The reward is 500 exp and skill upgrades.
Note: You must do this quest before going to sleep.

**Protect everybody of Zhao from an attack:
Talk to the Old Man Zhao and he will allow you to stay at his place overnight.
Go inside and the village be paid a visit by the local bandit, Ling Yan. Leave
the house and fight the bandits. After you defeat Ling Yan you get 1,000 exp
and skill upgrades.

**Find the reason for Sky Lake's drought:
Talk to Old Man Zhao in his house and you get to investigate why there is a
drought. Go southeast to Sky Lake and talk to Ling Yan. He will tell you the
story about the guardians. Go to the dried lake and fight some Bog Fiends. The
entrance to the Sky Lake Labyrinth is in the southeast corner. This isn't much
of a maze, just follow the paths choosing directions and fighting more Bog
Fiends. Eventually you will get to The Guardian Spirit. After you slay it,
pick up the Fire Jade and the Scales. Return to the Lake and speak to Ling Yan
again. He wants you to hand over the Jade so you will need to fight him again.
For this you get the Ice Crystal. Return to the Old Man Zhao and the quest is
complete. You will gain 1,000 exp and yet more skill upgrades.

	--------------------------------------------------------------
	/                   !!!!!ENDING NOTE!!!!!                    \
	/ Doing the following quest will not allow you to get Ending \
	/ C. You must collect the Kun Wu Sword for Endings A, & B. \
	--------------------------------------------------------------
**Collect the Kun Wu sword: (not in log)
Now that you have both the Fire Jade and Ice Crystal you can go claim the Kun
Wu Sword. Go back into the maze and when you find the Sword Tomb, insert the
Ice Crystal on the left hand side and the Fire Jade on the right hand side. Do
this wrong and you failed. If you did it right you will get the Kun Wu sword.
Return to the surface.

**Help LING YAN look for his sister, whom he was separated from for many
  years:
This quest only becomes available after you collected the Kun Wu sword. Talk
to Ling Yan again and he will mention he is looking for his sister and give
you a necklace. You might have noticed an old lady talk about an adopted girl
in the village. Go south of the bandit encampment and you will find a wounded
bandit. He will mention that he took the necklace from a girl in the village.
Now go and talk to Old Man Zhao again for more information regarding the girl.
Then go to the house next door and talk to Zhao Ling. Finally, go back to Sky
Lake and tell the story to Ling Yan who will rush to see her. The quest ends
and you gain 600 exp and, yes you guessed it, skill upgrades. Grab the chest
in the middle of the room.

**Help WEI SHEN and TIAN MEI look for Hui Tian Grass:
Wei Shen and Tian Mei are looking for Hui Tian Grass. Talk to both first and
then return go speak to Li san who is in his house. If you have defeated The
Guardian Spirit Lan Wei will mention so, and you can eventually get the grass
for free. You can also trade him a fire scales from the Spirit for the grass
but that would be a waste. If you did not defeat The Guardian Spirit you can
still buy it of him for 2,000 gold pieces. Give the Hui Tian Grass to Wei Shen
for 500 exp. The resident will also speak differently about Li San's debt.
If you only talk to Li San then you can bring up the grass and get it for free
too.
Note: This quest is available even if you did not get them the Thousand Year
      Ginseng in Jinyang.

You are now finished with this area so return to Tallcloud Mountain via
Tallcloud Village. You will find Cheng Yu on the floor and automatically end
up back in Jinyang. Pick up the bamboo scrolls and also check the shelf for
the scroll. Go to the inn and talk to the innkeeper. The following morning
you can upgrade your Item Creation skills at the blacksmith and sell/buy
things etc. Return to Cheng Yu's House. After the doctor has left you can
leave Jinyang towards Tallcloud Mountain. Go directly north and exit back
west into Lucky Sun Village.
Note: The farmer's cart was gone at night time but is back at the same spot
      the next day.

Lucky Sun Village:
``````````````````
As soon as you enter you will have to fight the Qin soldiers. Actually you
don't fight really. Soon you can walk around freely, there isn't much to do
here, however. Be careful that you don't fight the soldiers too much as you
might end up killing the general, meaning Game Over for you. I have found that
sometimes the game takes a little while longer to stop the fight. All I can
say is you should just take it easy, keep your distance but don't run away or
it won't trigger the scene.
**Kill the bandit king WU HAI of Brightsun Mountain:
Go into the large building at the south side and talk to the Qin General. He
will tell you about the local bandits and you can accept to defeat them for
him. Leaving the village via the northeast you will get to Brightsun Mountain.
This place is full of bandits so slay them all while making your way to the
northeast corner and then across west until you arrive at the bandit fortress.
On the way you can find a two scrolls. At the fortress you fight Wu Hai. Watch
out for his skill attack. When you kill him you gain 1,000 exp and skill
upgrades as usual. If you like you can report the success to the Qin General.
This is also a good area to come back to for fighting bandits and possible
finding equipment.
Now leave the Lucky Sun Village directly north towards Xiangye.
Xiangye:
````````
More foxes and panthers? These hardly give you experience anymore and after
fighting all those Bog Fiends earlier you should be Level 15. If not, try to
get there before finishing Chapter 4. Follow the path to exit this area at the
northwest corner, but you can find a scroll at the west side of the map.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                        Chapter 5                                    G0450
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jiuyuan:
````````
This city is even bigger than Jinyang and divided into two parts, east and
west. There is a another beggar at the entrance and he is even more greedy
than the other one. Don't be fooled to give him money. East of Jiuyuan East is
another fortune teller (Shen Shuanzi). If you talked to the fortune teller in
Jinyang then he will take away 3x 300 gold pieces but then return 1,000. There
is also yet another street vendor which will get your message bonus to 800
gold pieces. You can also find a scroll next to the Grocer at the market. The
Weapon's Dealer can upgrade your skills and sell or buy new equipment. Pretty
much every house holds some sort of treasure so I suggest you check them out
to find more scrolls for example.
**Help THE YOUTH in the search for the lost Censer:
There is a young man at the east side of town. He is looking for this Incense
Burner. Accept to find it for you and go into the merchant's house. Talk to
the small kid and ask about the mud doll. Don't ask the wrong questions or you
will screw up the quest. You can threaten the child to reveal the information
or buy him a mud doll. If you chose the latter, after you bring the mud doll
to him he will reveal where the Censer is. Go into the storehouse and take it.
Talk to the young man again and your reward is 600 exp.
Note: You can only start this quest before the Hun lay siege on the city.
**Help THE CHILD buy a mud doll:
If you chose to buy the child a mud doll to get the Censor back, go to the
market at the south of town and purchase it from the mud doll seller. One doll
costs 1,000 gold pieces. Bring the doll to the child.
**Help LI YI deliver the parcel to Jiuyuan: (continued)
We can now finally complete this quest as well. Wang Ren's House is in Jiuyuan
West near the entrance to the east. You can either tell her a sad story or lie
and make her happy. Either way you get 800 exp, whether you chose to give her
500 or 2000 gold pieces.
When you get near the Generals's Residence Palace in the West you will get a
cutscene. Go to the inn (East) and get a flashback with Liang Hu. Stay at the
inn's second floor. During the night Yan Hong will be gone.
**YAN HONG regardless of everyone else's opinion, went to the Government
  Palace to steal a pass. Hurry up and chase him down:
You have to make it to the General's Residence Palace where you got the scene
earlier on. Best is to avoid all the guards here, if you get caught by two
patrols at once it won't look good for your guys. If you are only fighting
one at a time then you try for the experience, but if there is another patrol
coming by then you are in trouble. The patrols will follow you if they spot
you but very slowly. Once you make it to the western part of the city you can
make a run for the Palace. A cutscene will take over and the quest is finished
already.
It's time to run back to the inn, stay there and then going back to the palace
in the morning. Talk to Huan Qi and then go into the Sideroom of the palace.
Now you need to run back to the East gate and watch the scene with the Hun.
When you have run back to the Palace yet again you get the choice of either
defending the city or attacking the Hun general. Option 1 will give you better
items while you are in the hun camp, Option 2 may be slightly easier.
OPTION 1:
========
**Go to the Hun Camp and assassinate the Hun general YEHE YU:
This is the attacking method of defeating the Hun. You will go into the Hun
encampment with Cai Xin and Gai Nie. There are lots of soldiers here. The main
tent is where you will find the general. All the other tents hold nothing but
respawn the guys outside. Not a good idea. Build up your anger to kill the
General. After you defeat him, return to the city and the siege ends. You also
cannot return to this area so pick up everything around here before you leave.
END OPTION 1
OPTION 2:
========
**Assist with the town defense until GAI NIE comes back:
The defensive way to win the battle only takes 5 minutes. You control Lan Wei,
Liang Hu and Yang Hong and simply defeat all Hun soldiers that pop up. Summon
fiends and this battle should be simple. When the time runs out, the Hun will
retreat and the quest is completed.
END OPTION 2
You gain new skills after the cutscenes. Now the city gates are open but there
is still some stuff left to do here.
**Arrest the thief HAN XIANG:
You might remember him from earlier on, there is a bounty on his head now. Talk
to the Government Bounty Hunter near the south gate of the city. Go to the inn,
quickly drop your money on the ground before the old man talks to you and
accept the jade from the old guy. You will lose all your money if you haven't
dropped it and another merchant here will, too. Obviously if you dropped all
your money then you really just get mugged out of 0 coins. Pick up your gold
again. Ask the innkeeper to look after an package for you and go outside.
Return back straight away and the package was picked up by "you" already. Go
upstairs and talk to the old man in the backroom. Now you need to find Han Xing
in the most northeastern house that has a woman washing clothes in front.
Before you talk to him, open the treasure chest for 1,000 gold pieces. You can
now either kill Han Xing or let him go. If you kill him, take his head and show
it to the Government Bounty Hunter. He will reward you with 5,000 gold pieces
and you get lots of skill upgrades. If you did not kill him you can report to
the Bounty Hunter that he is dead but won't get the big cash reward.
**Search for Jewelry lost by the RICH MERCHANT:
During the quest with Han Xing, the rich merchant at the Inn will also lose
some jewelry. Accept to look for them and after you have reported to the
Bounty Hunter you can find them at the house where Han Xing was hiding. Return
the jewelry to the Rich Merchant for 8,000 gold pieces.
**Before the OLD MAN's life ends, help him search for his friend who has been
  missing for years:
The house just opposite the General's Residence has a dying old man. You need
to find his friend so go west of the city and enter Jiuyang Outskirts. You
have 10 minutes once you enter the Outskirts so run to get to his house in the
Northwest. Go straight west and then north to find his home and avoid most
bandits for now. Speak to the old man and you are supposed to guide him back
to the dying old man in the city. He is very slow, so ditch him and run back
by yourself. He will appear next to you in the house. The clock stops once you
talk to the old man back in Jiuyang. Your reward is 600 gold, skill upgrades
and two halves of a ring. Take both halves to the craftsman next to the Inn.
It will cost you 1,000 gold to forge the ring back into shape and the result
is a wood attributed common ring with +40% healing speed. Nice.
I suggest you go back to the Outskirts and pick up items while fighting the
bandits for some good experience. You can also find scrolls here. Now that you
are finished with everything, use the north gate to end the chapter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                        Chapter 6                                    G0460
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beigu Grasslands:
`````````````````
Panthers and foxes again?! These are upgraded yet again and won't die as
quickly as before. The big foxes can put you to sleep. The paths are
misleading here but clear the area anyway. If you beat some bandits a little
bit earlier you should be Level 16 by the end. You will find a Hun sword just
after you enter, it comes with a story and you can equip it with the Paladin.
There are also skill scrolls (3) in the area.

**Meet JIANG TUO: (not in log)
Jiang Tuo might also appear in this area if you cured Bai Shan but it's
possible he's a no-show. He should be spotted from the start so if he's not
there then just move on. If you do miss him there is a chance he will not cross
your path later in the game, however.

Galetown:
`````````
Talk to the street vendor and receive 1,000 gold. Speak to the Apothecary for
a weird story and pick up items such as a scroll. There are two traders in the
middle of town who argue about their merchandise. Tell each one their item is
precious and afterwards mention that one is better than the other if you want
to be able to purchase it for 5,000 gold pieces. The items are either an
Ancestral Tablet Wood or a Kungwu Red Copper and are both excellent for
equipment creation/refining.
**Help the HUNTER kill the huge snake in his house:
First save, then talk to the hunter and offer to remove the snake for him. Go
inside, kill the huge snake and pick up the dropped skin. It may be hiding in
the chest or pot. If it is not in the house, go outside and tell the hunter
about it. Quest failed. Uh-oh! Hang on a second - load your game again. Repeat
the above until the snake appears and you get 800 exp (and a skill upgrade)
when you show the snake skin to the hunter.
**Help the BEGGAR convince the merchant to buy the Cloud Jade:
There is a beggar in front of the shop. Talk to him and find out what's going
on. You can now buy the jade for 10,000 gold and that's it. Or you can ask
why he needs money and give him 3,000 gold to help his sick son, you won't get
the jade though. The actual quest involves pretending to be interested in some
jade to the shopkeeper and he will buy the Jade from the beggar in order to
later sell on to you. Mention this to the beggar and he will disappear. Of
course you won't actually buy the jade back from the shopkeeper. By buying the
jade, giving the beggar 3,000 gold or fooling the merchant you get 700
experience points and a skill upgrade.
Move on to the next area.
Fang-Horn Village:
``````````````````
After the initial scenes you are free to scan the village. Find the Throw
Stone in a chest and make sure you talk to Tie Lang about a fight. There is a
grocer in the south.

OPTION 1:
**Help Fang-Horn Village get rid of the Wild Beast in the mountains:
Talk to Uncle Biao in his hut at the east side and he wants you to get rid of
a beast in the moutains that has been harassing the villagers. Accept and go
just east of his hut onto The Other Side Of The Mountain. Fight the Thunder
Beasts until you reach the cave. Inside you will fight the Wild Beast. After
you defeat it, you get 1,400 exp and skill upgrades. Also pick up the iron
claw here. Return to the village and talk to Uncle Biao for a scroll. Mention
the iron claw and you get a follow-up quest.

**Send iron claw to Little Wild's mother:
With the iron claw from the cave in your inventory, go to Little Wild's home
in the north of the village and talk to his mother. You get 700 exp.
END OPTION 1

OPTION 2:
**Help the BEASTWOMAN search for her missing son, Little Wild:
This way of dealing with the missing child yields the same experience, skill
upgrades but also saves the child. Talk to Little Wild's mother (hut in the
north) instead of Uncle Biao and she will ask you to look for her child. Go
to The Other Side Of The Mountain and at the top you fight the Wild Beast.
When you defeat it, follow it into the cave. There you will find the iron claw
and an arm bone. Take both back to Little Wild's mother and you get 700 exp.
The quest is complete but you can continue if you tell her the truth and show
the arm bone to her. She will mention it is not his arm and you can accept to
return to the mountain. Fight your way through those Thunder Beasts yet again
until you reach the cave. Talk to Little Wild and either chose to spare the
Wild Beast's life or kill it. Either way you end up at Little Wild's home and
get 1,400 exp plus skill upgrades and of course the scroll.
END OPTION 2

**Guess the riddle of LITTLE GIRL: (not in log)
The little girl has a riddle for you, the answer is 'shadow' and that's a
quick 500 exp.

**Help SILVER FOX look for her daughter, Nan Nan:
Silver Fox is the woman in the Tree House. Agree to look for her daughter. She
is supposed to be next door but the lady here, Pine Fox, say she left a while
ago. Go all the way west and there is an Old House. Inside you will find Nan
Nan. If you chose to escort her home the quests ends when you arrive at the
Tree House. Reward: 700 exp.

**Help NAN NAN bring back her Cloth Doll:
If you chose to bring her the Cloth Doll instead of escorting her home, go to
Pine Fox's home and ask her about it. Then return to Nan Nan and give her the
doll. She will go home by herself but you still get 700 exp. The only
difference between escorting her home and bring her the doll is an extra log
entry when you talk to Silver Fox after Nan Nan has returned home.

Brightflame Cave:
`````````````````
**Go to the Brightflame Cave and look for the Fire Demon Horn:
Talk to Wizard Bright Spring and you get the quest to look retrieve the horn
of the Fire Demon at the Brightflame Cave. Exit the village at the west side
towards Snakepit Cliff. Simply go west into Goose Swain Mountains. Here go
north the first chance you get and then follow the path around. At the next
split continue going south and after you cross the bridge you will be in the
Brightflame Cave. This cave is pretty tough.
Level 1:
````````
You only find hordes of Miasma Birds here. These kamikaze guys simply run at
you, explode and do some minor damage. Not cool, especially if they attack in
groups of 4-5 or even more. It is tough to actually kill these guys as they
require around 2 hits and once you they close it's too late. One trick is to
hit them with a missile attack from across a lava stream. Get close enough and
Lan Wei will actually try to hit the bird automatically. Apart from that, try
to slow them down with the Wood Cantrip, then hit them again before they get
too close. Also you should spread the damage a little and always use skills
that speed up HP recovery. Level 1 also has a scroll at the east side just
before the exit which in turn is at the northern part, but unfortunately you
are required to slalom around several paths to finally get there.

Level 2:
````````
This level features a mix of the Miasma Birds and a brand new fiend, the
Shadow Crabs. The Shadow Crabs will cloak for around 30 seconds as soon as you
get near them. However, their attack is weak and their defense even weaker.
Once they reappear you can bash them quickly. You should be reaching Party
Level 17 on either level 2 or 3, but make sure you do before Level 4.
Level 3:
````````
Here you only fight the previous Shadow Crabs and it is actually easier than
the first two levels. Just make them cloak, run around to avoid getting hit
and then fight them. The crabs can re-cloak after another 20-30 seconds. Get
to the south and go to Level 4 when you are ready.

Level 4:
````````
Walk around and you get a cutscene. The Fire Demon will appear and start a
scene. Defeat it to get another one. Pick up the horn and other items the
Demon dropped and make your way back to the Goose Swain Mountains. Follow the
path back to Snakepit Cliff and east to the village. After you give the horn
to Wizard Bright Spring there will be some cutscenes and the next quest begins
immediately, so go north to Woodleaf village.
Woodleaf Village:
`````````````````
**Go to Woodleaf Village and rescue the Beastman chieftain WU JING:
This quest starts just after you finish the last one. When you arrive at the
village, talk to the Village Elder and you get another two quests in the
meantime. After the quests you will end up at the top of Binding-Beast Tower
where Wu Jing is being held. Talk to him to return the horn and end the quest.
Your reward is a hefty 2,000 exp.

**Search for the person who planted the poison:
Speaking to the village elder will reveal somebody poisoned the villagers. The
three suspicious people are Qi Zhen, Lu Sheng and Lu Ning. First Qi Zhen's
house and check out his pile of radish. Take the sample to the Herbalist for
examination. Now check out the well and take the powder to the Herbalist. At
Lu Ning's house you will find the same gray ash on the oven. Next up is Lu
Sheng's home where you will find a bucket. This is enough evidence so report
to the Village Elder and you will confront Lu Ning. This will lead to the
next quest.

Kindling Plains:
````````````````
**Defeat the criminal LU SHENG:
You start out at the Kindling Plains. More annoying Thunder Beasts fill this
entire area but if you want the scroll you need to go all the way east. The
Tower is at the northwest. This quest finished at the third level of the
Binding-Beast Tower when you have defeated Lu Sheng.
Binding-Beast Tower:
````````````````````
Level 1:
````````
This is easy, only a few bats to kill. Go up the stairs when you are finished.
Level 2:
````````
It gets a little tougher here, there are two Bat Kings that can spawn bats. So
ignore the small bats and try not to get both King's attention at the same
time. When you defeated them go upstairs to the final floor.

Level 3:
````````
You meet Lu Sheng here and fight him. Nothing too hard, he can stun you but
only for a few seconds.
When you return to the Woodleaf Village, talk to elder to finish the first
quest you started here and also talk to the Herbalist to get 2 remedies.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                        Chapter 7                                    G0470
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fang-Horn Village:
``````````````````
**Cure the WOUNDED SOLIDER [Soldier]: (not in log)
There is a wounded soldier in the barracks. Now that you have finished the
quests in Woodleaf Village you can give him a remedy you got from the
Herbalist earlier. If you did not pick up the remedies you can still do so now
in Woodleaf Village. You get 500 exp for curing him.

Wu Jing invited you to his village so go to the Snakepit Cliff and north to
the Beastmoot. It is strongly suggested you level up to Lvl 17 at this point,
fighting those annoying Thunder Beasts if you have to. Also make sure Liang
Hu's anger is full or close to being so.

The Beastmoot:
``````````````
Some quests and events only occur if Liang Hu is in your party so make sure
that he is and don't progress with the main story yet as you will soon find
out. Many villagers have stories to tell you. There is a blacksmith in the
northwest where you can find a skill scroll which you can upgrade along with
a few others.
**Give LISTENING BEAR some wine: (not in log)
Give the drunken guy Listening Bear some wine as he complains his isn't any
good. You can either give him the wine from Redclay Village or the Monkey Wine
from Cloudmore Village. Reward is 700 exp plus a Summon Stone Creature Upgrade
for Yan Hong.
**Help WEI SHEN find Thunder Lion to cure Tian Mei:
First go to Thunder Lion's house at the north and talk to Wei Shen. You need
to persuade the doctor to cure Tian Mei. The doctor is right here so simply
talk to him to "persuade" him. You get 800 exp and upgrades but return to the
house afterwards for additional information from Thunder Lion. You will then
meet them again later.
OPTION 1:
========
**Help STRONG EAGLE send the Necklace to Sky Lark:
Talk to Strong Eagle at the barracks and he will mention a woman he likes.
Deliver the Necklace for him. Her place is at the south side. When you give it
to her you will get 700 exp and ask you to return with an item to him.
**Help SKY LARK send the Helmet to Strong Eagle:
After you deliver the necklace you are asked to bring a helmet to Strong Eagle
at the barracks. Do so and you get 700 exp.
END OPTION 1
OPTION 2:
========
**Help SKY LARK send the Iron Claw to Strong Eagle:
Talk to Sky Lark at the south side of the village, she will mention that she
likes Strong Eagle and ask you to deliver an item to him. Accept and go to the
barracks. You get 700 exp and another quest.
**Help STRONG EAGLE send the Ring to Sky Lark:
After you deliver the iron claw you are asked to bring a ring to Sky Lark in
the south. Do so and you get 700 exp.
END OPTION 2
**Cure the WOUNDED SOLIDER: [Soldier] (not in log)
Similar to the soldier at Fang-Horn Village you can give a remedy to him and
get 800 exp plus a Lightning Strike upgrade. If you did not get the remedy you
can still go back and talk to the Herbalist at Woodleaf village now.
	--------------------------------------------------------------
	/                   !!!!!ENDING NOTE!!!!!                    \
	/ Doing the following quest is required to get Endings A, B, \
	/           & C and optional for any other ending.           \
	--------------------------------------------------------------
**Take the Trial of the Cave:
Talk to the Old Man at the barracks and accept to take the trial. The entrance
is at the northeast just next to Thunder Lion's house. Show the token to the
guards and Liang Hu will be alone in the cave. This place seems hard at first
but it isn't really. The Old Man will tell you about the rules of the test.
Kill all the small enemies first as they annoy you, especially when you are
fighting a Guard. You can kill the invisible ones by standing very close to
them (check your map) and using the Throw Stone skill in the direction they
are. You can also notice the cursor changes into an X where you can't walk
there, as the enemy is taking up the space. Now for the guards. You can only
fight one if you have talked to the corresponding guard with the first option
"Now I know what I am supposed to do". There are five guards, Centre (Earth),
North (Water), South (Fire), West (Metal) and East (Wood).
Center	-> North
North	-> South
South	-> West
West	-> East
East	-> Center
For example if you have spoken to the West guard you can select the third
option with the East guard and so on. After you have defeated a guard you can
talk to him again and then move on to the next one. You don't have to follow
any order but it would make sense that you do. Don't ask them the middle
option. Depending on your element, stats and equipment some of the guards will
be easy and some will be hard. However, I find that running away from them and
throwing rocks when they stop is the best and easiest way to defeat them all.
They will gradually lose HP and you should only be hit by a rare dash attack or
if you get too close by mistake. You don't have healing items but the natural HP
recovery should be enough. Flow of Life can help too if you have the time. You
can also use your anger skill once, but there aren't enough enemies to fill it
up again so don't even try (thus no harm in clearing them out straight away and
it would make the hit & run tactic pretty hard too). The only downside of the
running tactic is that the guards might be out of position later and West
guard might be all the way to the East. You will have to check their status by
element. Once you have defeated all five guards, talk to the Old Man again and
you can move onto the next part. Go north into the small cave. In the middle
you will see the obelisk. Place an item in when the promoted color is dim.
This follows the rules of the five elements. Check the appendix in the manual
if you have forgotten how this works already, it is well described there. In
short, Water -> Wood -> Fire -> Earth -> Metal -> Water ... For example if
green is dim, green being wood, place an Ice Shard into the obelisk and it
promotes wood and therefore green. It is not hard to guess the items' element,
Candle = Fire, Ice Shard = Water, Clay = Earth, Bronze = Metal etc. After
placing all five items correctly, it is done. Leave the cave to the north.
Now go into the main tent to continue the main story by talking to Wu Jing.
After the conversation Liang Hu will leave so make sure you have finished all
quests here already or it is too late to start some. Return to Fang-Horn
Village and talk to Tia Lang. He will join your party until you return to the
Beastmoot.
**Go to the [Beastmoot]'s Great Tent and search for the Empyrean Stone:
Go to the main tent and you will end up at the Secret Passage automatically.
There isn't much to do here but follow the path to the chest and take out the
stone. Afterwards you will end up back outside.
Yellow-Emperor's Tomb:
``````````````````````
**Find the Last Empyrean Stone in the Yellow-Emperor's Tomb:
Leave the village at the southwestern corner. The Cliffs of the Emperor of
Heaven have more of those Thunder Beasts. If you really want to explore the
whole area first turn left but you will be disappointed in your finds. I
suggest turning right and only following the path up to the statues. Once you
arrive, check the Emperor's Statue and after some further investigation this
will trigger a fight with a Guardian Creature. It drops an Emerald. Take it
and place it onto the statue. Another Guardian Creature arrives and it will
drop a Sapphire when defeated. Place this onto the statue too and a third
Guardian Creature pops up, this time a tougher one. After you defeat this last
Guardian Creature you will find a Ruby which eventually opens up the Tomb.
Liang Hu will join your party again. Go inside the Yellow Emperor's Tomb.

Level 1:
````````
This tomb is huge and there are lots of enemies to fight for plenty of
experience. I suggest searching through the entire area for Guardians with
Bats and by that time you should be half-way to the next Party Level. There
are exits at all four corners of the map so pick any to advance to the next
level.
Level 2:
````````
This map has the same Guardians but they come with more evil bats. They still
make for good experience so defeat as many as you can find and level up to Lvl
18. The stairs to the next map are in the center.

Level 3:
````````
More Bats and Guardian Creatures, enough to get to Level 19 even. There are
four exits just like on Level 1 and the whole map is very similar too.
Level 4:
````````
The Guardian Creatures here are a little tougher and there are a few new
Double-Headed Guardians to slay. Clear the map and then touch each pillar
which spawns 4 Guardian Creatures each. The fourth pillar also makes a
Guardian Creature appear. When you defeat it, open the sarcophagus and go down
to another area. You will automatically get the last Empyrean stone.

**Defeat the Blazing Demon guarding the Sarcophagus:
When you turn the fourth pillar a Guardian Creature will appear. It has lots
of HP but all those guardians you have killed should give you lots of anger
points so use your skills for a quick kill but you might want to Liang Hu's
anger at max for the next fight.

After a scene you should just run out of the tomb because the skeletons are
not worth your time at all. Outside you will meet some people and if you
successfully completed the Trial of the Cave earlier, Liang Hu will want to
back into the tomb and fight Tie Lang for it. Otherwise Tie Lang will go in.

	--------------------------------------------------------------
	/                   !!!!!ENDING NOTE!!!!!                    \
	/ Winning the following quest is required to get Endings A, \
	/    B, & C ; optional for Ending D but you must LOSE the    \
	/                   fight to get Ending E.                   \
	--------------------------------------------------------------
**Fight Tie Lang at the Competition Place: (not in log)
Use your anger skill if you have it full, otherwise just attack him straight
up. If you want to lose this fight you should unequip all your stuff
beforehand. If you defeat Tie Lang you will go back into the tomb, otherwise
Tie Lang will go instead.

**Destroy the seal on the stone platform, preventing more monsters from
  spiking forth:
You start with Liang Hu on the fourth level already, so just avoid the
skeletons which are sometimes distracted by the guardians and go down into the
sarcophagus. A scene takes over. If you have not picked up the Kun Wu sword
earlier on then say goodbye to Liang Hu now.

**Kill all the monsters appearing along the way:
You basically need to finish all 'defeat all skeletons' quests you get.
However, this multi-map spanning quest can only be achieved if you don't take
the long route that includes Peach Blossom Village. By taking the shortcut
south, you will be able to defeat all the monsters until you reach Chi You.
Note: It does not affect the Endings if you don't fail this quest so if you
      want more quests and a better ending you should probably go west in
      Lingnan instead.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                        Chapter 8                                    G0480
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You might have noticed that many enemies you fought before are now your allies.
They do not fight too well but they still make for a good distraction so try to
keep them alive too.

South Sky Mountains:
````````````````````
**Kill all the skeletons in the South Sky Mountains:
Defeat all the skeletons you see on this map. Easy enough, don't progress
until you do. All the enemies will gain you yet another level (21) before you
even get the 2,000 exp reward. Proceed to Lingnan Village to the east.
The Town Of Lingnan:
````````````````````
If you collected the Kun Wu sword and Liang Hu went down into the Tomb, he
will re-join your party.

**Destroy all skeletons in the town of Lingnan:
New area, same story. Scan the area for skeletons and defeat them all for
another 2,000 exp plus upgrades.

One the way you probably already collected many scrolls including the. After
all skeletons are defeated, visit the house at the east for some information.
For the house at the West you need to click on the entrance a few times to
barge in.

	--------------------------------------------------------------
	/                   !!!!!ENDING NOTE!!!!!                    \
	/    Take the long (west) route for Endings A, C, & E or     \
	/ chose any direction for the other Endings. \
	--------------------------------------------------------------
West will lead you to Thunderhome Peak, south to Redmoon Plains. Both routes
will lead you to the Chengdu. Going east will be longer with extra quests to
accomplish but only going south will enable you to finish the quest to defeat
all enemies along the way. It is also shorter and will make the fight with Chi
You slightly easier.

SHORT ROUTE: (South)
===========

Redmoon Plains:
```````````````
**Destroy all skeletons on Redmoon Plains:
You can't return the way you cam and have to fight your way through all the
skeletons until you get to Chengu. As with the previous quest, scout the
entire map for skeletons until you finish the quest and then move on. 2,000
awaits you along with skill upgrades. Exit to the bottom left corner and don't
forget to pick up the scroll near the house.
Sunset Valley:
``````````````
**Destroy all skeletons in Sunset Valley:
Nothing new here, defeat all skeletons for 2,000 plus skill upgrades and move
along to the Revival Cliff at the bottom right corner.

You should have reached Level 22 at this point. Try to refine your equipment on
a regular basis now that you level up more. On the western plateau is a
friendly unit called Danghu, an extremely large bird. It will attack the
skeletons with a fierce fire attack that does not hurt you. This is obviously
good, so lure all surrounding skeletons near it and they shall soon fall. Also
if you talk to the beast it will actually attack you, but it is extremely tough
to survive. There is a patch of trees on the plateau, run into it and lure the
bird towards the edge of trees so it touches the trees. It tries to fly upon
seeing you, but the trees obstruct its take-off. Thus it fires where it is
standing. Use Lan Wei's wood cantrip to immobilize it, then finish it. You can
lure so many skeletons towards it, and it takes damage from them. It only drops
worthless junk but at least some exp. Still not worth doing, nice touch though.

END SHORT ROUTE

LONG ROUTE: (West)
==========

Thunderhome Peak:
`````````````````
**Kill all the monsters appearing along the way: (continued)
This quest fails immediately when you arrive because you missed two other
areas you won't get to on this route.
Wow more panthers but these guys are pretty tough now, boring but it surely
beats fighting more of those skeletons. Try to lure them closer in small
groups and control your characters so they don't wander off and attract any
more. There are none in the bottom part of the map but a lot in the top part.
When you get close to the house you will see a cutscene.
Go into the cave at the northeast for a short scene and you'll immediately
find yourself back outside. The panthers will have respawn so kill them on
your way out at the lower east side.
Peach Blossom Village:
``````````````````````
**Help MASTER FENG pay off his debt to Li Tu:
At the north you will see a bunch of Servants next to Uncle Feng. Talk to one
of them and they will try to take the child. Prevent them by obvious means
(killing them of course, easy task) and talk to Uncle Fen again. He will
mention his debt so accept to have a chat with Li Tu. In front of his house
you will find Li San who you should talk to. You can either pay him the debt
of 3,500 gold or the better way by killing him and his two servants.
Afterwards pick up the due bill and bring it to Uncle Feng. You get 1,000 exp
and if you have been to the cave at Thunderhome Peak already he will
mention more about the corrupt Li family. Killing him adds some more experience
in total.

**Kill QING KONG:
If you haven't been to the cave at Thunderhome Peak, go there now. Then talk
to Uncle Feng and he will mention the corrupt Li family. Go to Li Tu's house
and you will get a cutscene. Also speak to the servant near the entrance of
the estate for some more information. Enter Shi Guiyi's house at the southeast
corner of the village. Through to the Inner Chamber and talk to the lady. Now
return to Thunderhome Peak, check out the plant and you will meet the lady
again. Take her to the cave, fighting those same panthers on the way. Inside
you will fight Qing Kong, he's weak and mainly throws rocks. Now talk to the
two sisters for Purity and Freedom. Use one of them on Shi Guiyi and the
remaining on a sister. You can chose which one by selecting a different Inner
Power to cure Shi Guiyi. If you used Purity you can save Fei Yan, in contrast
if you used Freedom you can save Chuan Yun. When you have cured two people you
get 2,000 exp and skill upgrades. Return to the village and find Li Tu at his
home for a final word.

**The demon that is terrorizing the villagers has [to] [be] captured:
Talk to the middle-aged woman in the Commoner's Residence at the west part of
the village. After that talk to another middle-aged woman in the northern
Commoner's Residence. Now go outside the house and straight back in. Then
leave the village to the northeast so you reach the Outside of Peach Blossom
Village. After those panthers earlier it is no surprise that this area is
filled with foxes. The area is small though, clear it out first and then find
the Insane Shadow in the south. You will need to fight the Evil Fox Fairy
which rewards you with 2,000 exp and the usual skill upgrades.

**Give the Fox Fairy's Gassamer Pearl to the boy as asked by the FOX FAIRY:
  (The gassamer pearl of the fox fairy has been given to the boy as the fox
  fairy asked)
You are asked to meet the Fairy Fox at the cave to the west when you have
defeated it. Inside the boy will talk to you and when the fox has died, go
over to the body and take the pearl. Leave the cave and give the pearl to the
boy like he asked. The correct reply will give you 1,000 exp. The wrong one
obviously nothing.

	--------------------------------------------------------------
**Meet FANG ZHONG: (not in log)
You will notice Fang Zhong's home is locked for now. Talk to a guard at the
southwest corner and he will mention his name. Now return to the house in the
center of the village and go inside. After a conversation you will receive a
bunch of letters.

**Meet XIAO WENTIAN: (not in log)
Talk to Qing Yu at his home and you will hear a story. Leave the village for
Shi Li Hill. Talk to Artisan at his house in the west for a Flare Ring and
Assassin's Heartlock Armor.

Shi Li Hill:
````````````
Shortly after you arrive you should reach the next level and maybe halfway to
Level 23. The area is full of large foxes and large panthers. Continue on to
the Revival Cliff.
END LONG ROUTE
Revival Cliff:
``````````````
**Kill all the monsters appearing along the way: (continued)
If you have completed all four 'kill all skeleton' missions on South Sky
Mountains, Redmoon Plains and in The Town Of Lingnan, Sunset Valley then you
will be rewarded a huge 10,000 exp at this point.

Go to the Old Man and watch the cutscene with him and the Qin General, fight
the few pathetic enemies and follow the short path to reach Chengdu City.

Chengdu City:
`````````````
You arrive in Chengdu and when you go near the gate you get to watch a scene.
I suggest not having Yan Hong in your party before you enter. Afterwards you
will need to fight a lot of fiends. Don't get surrounded and use your skills a
lot. Once the main force of summon monsters is defeated you can kill the rest
of the corpses and skeletons. Go west to Bronze Tiger Mountain and fight Chi
You and his minions. Ignore all the small enemies and just beat on Chi You.
His health bars are quite small but just make sure you don't get surrounded by
too many zombies. If you took the short route earlier in the game you will
battle just Chi You here. After you have beaten him, chose to stay in Chengdu
some more. If you don't want to just pick the other option and skip to the
Bronze Tiger Mountain. Either way you should also be at Level 23 so fight some
Tiger Fish around the mountain before you return to town.
**Go the Lost Woods [to] find Spirit Grass:
When you arrive back in the city, a resident will ask you not to defeat the
corpses in town. Ignore him and go to the center of town where you should
defeat the corpses along with a Young Man. Talk to him when you can and you
need to defeat all corpses in town. While near the Zhi Ying, he will help you
and he is invincible. When you have killed them all (there is no message when
you have done so) talk to Zhi Ying again. Now all the houses are open again.
Follow Zhi Ying to the Inn and talk to Master Wu Tian. The real quest starts
so go east into the Lost Woods where you will find plenty of Spirit Grass on
the floor. Return to inn and talk to Wu Tian for 1,200 exp. After you have
rested the town as come back to life.
Note: You will lose ALL your Spirit Grass so drop any spare ones on the floor
      before speaking to Wu Tian. Also before you speak to him you can sell
      the extra Spirit Grass to a trader in the city.
Now you can go around town and find items, scrolls, go shopping etc. Don't
forget the Street Merchant for another 1,200 gold pieces and talk to a
merchant at the east side who will mention something about needing him in the
future.
**Give Scented Nut to YOUNG BOY: (not in log)
A small child at the western part of the village wants a scented nut, the one
you picked up from Mantrap Wood in Chapter 2. Give it to him for some exp.
**Scare XIAO WU: (not in log)
Xiao Wu is talking to an old man at the northern part of the city. Pick any
option but the first one (options vary on your inventory) and you will gain
800 exp.
Lost Woods:
```````````
**Find the evil doctor TIAN QING to save TIAN MEI, whom he transformed into
  one of the undead:

Go to the lower eastern corner of the map and a cutscene will take place. Now
go to the hut in the woods and kill the two zombies. Talk to the small child
to find out about the location of Tian Qing. Go to the upper eastern corner
and enter the cave. Kill the Gobbler for 2,400 exp. Go to the hut for some
extra conversations if you wish to.

Return to Chengdu City and go west to Bronze Tiger Mountain.

Bronze Tiger Mountain:
``````````````````````
**Give Redbud to TIAN CHENG: (not in log)
There is a short scene when you come to the first descent when Gai Nie picks
up a flower for Cai Xin. Tian Cheng appears and asks you for it. You can give
it to him or ask for some herbs in return. Either option yields you 800 exp.
**Send the YOUNG COUPLE back to Bronze Drum Village:
At the northwestern part of the area you will find three monsters. Kill them
all and two people will appear. Talk to them and you will need to escort them
to the village. Easy task, the reward is 1,000 exp.
When you arrive at Bronze Drum Village you need to fight Chi You a second
time, this time with more health and he summons minions that are a little bit
more annoying. Concentrate on him again and kill all the small creatures when
he has escaped. Follow him to the Giantwood.
Giantwood:
``````````
**Defeat the giant XING TIAN:
This area is huge and full of enemies. Kill many of them to reach Level 24
while you make your way eastwards where the giant is waiting for you. I
recommend clearing out all the enemies around him first so you don't attract
them during the big fight. He has the biggest health bar you have encountered
so far and packs a hefty punch. I'd say your anger is probably max from all
the previous fiends so use it now. After he is defeated, return to the Bronze
Drum Village.

Bronze Drum Village:
````````````````````
Back here, Mei will talk to you and then a lot of spirits will attack you.
**Kill the four MONSTERS: (not in log)
Before you go for Mei in the center of town, go around the outer edge and
defeat four monsters while fighting off spirits. There are also a couple of
soldiers who will help you out, but they are weak and will most likely die.
When all four are defeated you get 1,200 exp and skill upgrades.
Note: You must do this before defeating Mei as they disappear afterwards.
**Defeat MEI: (not in log)
She can spawn skeletons so you better go for her straight away. Use an anger
skill if you still have one or filled on up defeating the monsters around the
village. After you finish with her the village is back to normal.
**Investigate the reason for the insanity of the summoned monsters:
Go into the Chief Wizard's home and talk to him. If you have escorted the
young couple back to the village earlier he will ask you to investigate why
they went crazy. If you did not do this yet, go there now. Talk to the eastern
patrolling soldier and you get a devil ring he found earlier and then ask
Jiang Tuo about it. He is standing west of the riverbank, and he will only
come to the village if you have talked to him the previous times when
possible. Go back to the Wizard with this new information and you receive
2,400 exp and a skill upgrade. You get to keep the ring too.
**Help E HAN sharpen the embroidery needle:
E Han lives at the east side of this small village. Tell her you will sharpen
the needle for her and go north across the small bridge and check out the
large stone. This sharpens the needle. Return it to E Han for 800 exp.
Leave the city via the east exit after you have finished all item collecting
and shopping at the blacksmith.
Stoneman Village:
`````````````````
As soon as you arrive you need to fight a lot of those Mischievous Spirits.
Kill the ones at the entrance and then when it is clear, go west towards a big
stone statue. Slay the big monster which will then turn into Mei and you
immediately start fighting again. The first form is tougher than the second
one. When Mei dies, the villagers return to the streets.

Talk to the final Street Vendor and if you have relayed all messages from the
six previous ones (Redclay Village, Jinyang City, Jiuyuan City, Tallcloud
Mountain, Chengdu City and Galetown) he will offer you to trade scroll items
for some equipment. Try if you like. Items you can find in the village also
include the scrolls.

Speak to the chieftain outside the inn and later go to the Chieftain's house
for some more conversation. Before you leave for Deathwind Cave, check out the
doctor at the inn who can remove all your attribute points so you can
redistribute them from scratch. If you feel like a character is not balanced
out for fighting you can now change all this.

**LIANG HU is petrified, we must consider how to save him:
Find the old man lying on the ground near the entrance to the cave and try to
help him. Liang Hu will be petrified so get a third party member if he was in
it. You can save him in two ways, evil or good. Both give the same amount of
exp but the evil way is much easier.
GOOD WAY: Speak to the Wizard at his home and find a stone pile in the small
patch of trees towards the west of this village. A Stone Monster will appear
and you fight it. It is pretty tough and will go for your weak characters so
try to get that person to run around while the other two slowly take chunks
out of its health bar. If you have any anger skills left us it, it seems
immune to defense reduction however. After you kill it, you receive 2,000 exp
for the kill and 2,000 exp for saving Liang Hu.

EVIL WAY:
**Give priest's magic instrument to the STONE MONSTER:
After you find the old man and Liang Hu is petrified, speak to a man near the
western part who is holding some kind of golden trumpet. Now when you find the
stone pile in the forest and talk to the Stone Monster, you get the option to
save Liang Hu via a different method (you can still chose to kill the monster
at this point if you wish). Go to the Wizard and ask for the magic instrument
but you need to swipe it from his dead body. However, he is much easier to
kill than the Stone Monster. Take the instrument and head back, the monster
will ask for a Jade to save Liang Hu. Hand it over and you gain 2,000 exp for
this quest and for saving him (4,000 exp total). I prefer the good way as you
have just doomed the village, but this doesn't affect any story or events
later in the game.

Stoneman Village is the last town of the game and you should buy/sell all
you want before you leave. Save before entering the Deathwind Cave as you
can't go back once you do.

Deathwind Cave:
```````````````
This dungeon is pretty annoying as most enemies run away, are fast and can
be healed by the Soul Binders.
Level 1:
````````
This level is not too hard but take it slowly as there are many goblins in
every corridor. They are annoying because they run away quickly, try to keep
your characters from running after them and concentrate on the enemies around
you. Get to Level 25 and also pick up the two scrolls in the north. Use the
map to guide yourself through the dungeon.

Level 2:
````````
This time the area is smaller and pretty linear to get around. At the northern
edge you see Yan Hong (YH) and you need to go all the way around to meet him.
It's possible to run through the majority of enemies but it is highly
recommended that you defeat them so they don't hunt after you. Chi You isn't
so tough but he can summon a hard-hitting Hell Knight and some easy-to-beat
skeletons. Ignore them mostly and just fight Chi You until he escapes, then
the rest of the summoned monsters are gone too. If the hell knight is too much
for you, and he might be, simply run away down the corridor and wait for your
HP/MP to fill up again. The enemies should not follow you. If you run past the
Hell Knight and lure Chi You away from him then he often don't need to worry
about him. Now go south and exit to the next level.
Skyriver Falls:
```````````````
Straight away you should start slaying all those evil rabbits and malevolent
deer. Just kidding. This area is extremely peaceful as you might have noticed
from the soothing music that is playing. Go south a little and up the ramp to
the middle plateau. To the south is a chest with a fungus (worth a lot of
gold). Go back north and ignore the Devil-God Temple entrance for now, you
can not go in there at the moment anyway.

If you spoke to a certain trader in Chengdu earlier in the game, Liu Jing will
be here and offer you his buying and selling services. His goods are the best
money can buy in the game but obviously pricey at that. Sell your unwanted
goods and buy a few items even if you cannot equip them with your characters
right now due to required levels. Once you have closed the trade window and
talk to Liu Jing again he will disappear forever without offering you to look
at his goods. In other words - one chance to buy his items, ever! Saving before
talking to him is a VERY good idea.

Continue down the ramp and cross the bridge. The forest animals will run off
and Mei and her companions take over the area. If you kept the anger level at
maximum you should use them now to rattle down her health bar. Use all
available spells to fight off the minions too but concentrate on Mei. After
her HP is depleted she'll disappear once more. Now you need to clean up the
rest of the foes. The Soul Binders in this area do not heal but instead can
summon mischievous spirits. Once a Soul Binder is defeated they will
disappear alongside him.

Walk southeast and north over the bridge. There is a chest in the top corner.
The Ancient Temple is to the east.

                        Chapter 9                                    G0490

Ancient Temple:
```````````````
This area is full of the previously encountered monsters. Slaying all the
enemies aside, enter the remains of the temple complex. There is a big
welcoming party at the entrance and a few more inside as well. Touch the plate
in the back for a message about the God of Fire and God of War. There are two
stone columns that are a part of the back wall on either side of that plate.
Click on both for two skill upgrades each, and the last ones in the game.
Outside of the complex is a large statue, examine it for another message and
you will need to head back to Skyriver Falls. Defeat the enemies in your path,
or better save you the trouble for now and avoid them, then go inside the
Devil-God Temple you passed earlier on and couldn't get inside.
Devil-God Temple:
`````````````````
Every few steps a huge spider fiend will appear and it can spawn smaller ones.
Concentrate on the huge one and the small one will disappear once it's dead.
You can explore the entire area but there are only a few pillars with hidden
stones to find. Finally, talk to the Guardian Monster and you'll need to fight
it. It's not too tough and spawns red snakes who are no thread by themselves.
It might get more difficult if a nearby spider fiend comes into play. After
you finish, pick up the Vessel for Blood Sacrifice and the Broken Shield and
exit through the opposite side of the temple.

Ancient Temple:
```````````````
You will find yourself back in the outskirts of the Ancient Temple. Making your
way back to the temple compound while discarding foes, you will meet up with
Lan Wei's father, Lan Xiong, at the entrance. This can be tough if you fight
him straight on. There will be a few Soul Binders and Goblins around, too. A
trick is to run out of the compounds and Lan Xiong should stay at the entrance
while you recover your HP/MP. This tactic might even get rid of the minions and
you can fight Lan Xiong one-on-one, or better yet 3 vs 1, thus making this task
a lot easier to accomplish. Put your tank, most likely Liang Hu, in front of
him and use Flow of Life to keep his health up. After you have defeated him and
watched the scenes, access the Underground Palace to continue. There is no way
back once you haver entered.
Underground Palace:
```````````````````
This is the last dungeon of the game. Before you face the final boss you
should be at least Level 30. I highly recommend reaching party level 33 before
the Seal Room for good measure. This might mean roughly leveling up on each
map and you might need to return to a previous stage to respawn some enemies.
It takes some time but if you have not battled the annoying sprits a lot on
the last few map then you are most likely weaker than you should be. At the
end you should be high enough to yield some powerful weapons and equipment to
defeat Chi You and his minions. The palace also includes plenty of medicine if
required and the enemies drop excellent things for refining/creating items.

Level 1:
````````
The skeletons are back. Much better than the previous enemies to say the
least. There are 2 new enemies, the large skeleton that has an area effect on
surrounding skeletons and the Rhino. Rhinos are tough, hit pretty hard and
have a lot of HP. Try to lure away the skeletons around them first and then
take it on alone. Just south of where you start off are two ginseng and the
quickest route to the nearest exit is to go north and around to the north
eastern corner, then through the gap and making your way just close enough to
the northeast corner. It doesn't matter which exit you take as all will end up
at the same place. When going back up to Level 1 you will pop out at a random
staircase, however.
Level 2:
So you thought the Rhinos are tough, wait until you see the Ox Terror. This
level is still filled with skeletons and also has the mages who can lower your
defense/dodge rate with the Harassed by Demons spell. The mages themselves
aren't too much trouble once they cast the spell and it might be a good idea
to take out those archers with their fire missiles first, unless the battle
takes too long and the mages might cast a spell again soon. Their defense is
extremely poor. The large skeletons can raise the defense of surrounding
units, which is bad if there is an Ox Terror in the vicinity. It should not be
a problem if you have leveled up some more and both the large skeleton and the
Ox Terror are pretty rare. Take one of the exits at the mid-eastern edge or
the southwest corner as they will lead to the same spot on level three.
Level 3:
````````
This level features mainly powered up skeletons. They all come with a skill
attached, including speed-up, defense-up and power-up. The mages are able to
both heal AND cast Harassed By Demons. They will always try to cast the latter
first giving you enough time to dispose of nearby enemies or just go for the
healer himself if desired. Usually they shouldn't be more trouble than before.
The only frustrating situation is several mages constantly curing nearby
enemies including other mages. The large skeletons are still rare and boost
attack this time around. If you are unlucky then this map will already feature
several Hell Knights. If so then you need to carefully lure all surrounding
skeletons and slay them one-by-one beforehand. Hell Knights are hard, coupled
with a handful of skeletons including a healer it is a mighty force you don't
want to reckon with just yet. When you cleared all skeletons then you can try
to take on the knight. The non-black mages don't do much harm and will
disappear once the Hell Knight is dead so don't worry about them being spawned
constantly. The goods news is that Hell Knights drop excellent Wraith's Stones
and yield lots of experience points. As for the map, it is one large middle
area with a few branches on the outside. here are two exits at the northern
corners and they will both lead you to the same spot on level four.

Level 4:
````````
If you didn't come across Hell Knights on the previous level then you should
get used to them now because they will be around until the end of the game.
The rest are more skilled skeletons as usual including the axe-yielding
one that uses Flow Of Life. New are the lancers, replacing the archers, who
can take off a good chunk of HP if they manage to hit you. The worst part is
that this level is HUGE, nearly double size of the previous one. There is only
one exit in the extreme northwest corner which leads to the Temple of the God
of War. You cannot return back to the Underground Temple once you have passed
through here.
If you can't read the ASCII map precisely here's a quick guide to navigate you
through the maze: Go straight north, then west and follow the winding path.
After a few rooms you'll find yourself in the center of the map with the
lowered plateau in the middle that has four rooms. Go straight through it and
exit on the other side. After a few more rooms you will be at the utmost
left hand side of the map. Go straight north, ignoring the entrance to a room
on the right and soon there is the entrance to the temple at the northwest
corner.
Temple for the God of War:
``````````````````````````
This map is very small and packed with enemies, nothing you haven't
encountered before. If you are lucky there won't be any Hell Knights to deal
with. It starts off with a few foes so you can take them out without advancing
too far and then trying to lure the rest away from the masses in smaller
groups. If you end up on the platform surrounded by enemies there is a good
chance you could die. This is your last chance to level up as generic monsters
in the Seal Room don't yield exp (they are all summoned). Also fill up your
anger if you haven't already and want to use them against the final boss - you
probably want to do that. Walk through the only exit into the Seal Room.

Seal Room:
``````````
You finally catch up with Chi You. You want to defeat him and seal up once
again. His first form as Yan Hong can summon monsters such as Hell Knights
and simple Skeletons. If you are lucky he will only do the latter. Worst is he
can heal the summons AND himself. If you don't have enough firepower and take
too long to cut off chunks of his health bar he will continuously heal
himself. He will only summon one Hell Knight and two skeletons at a time but
will do so again when one of either kind disappears or dies. A good tactic is
to try and lure him away from the Hell Knight and take him on along with the
skeletons if you have to. If the skeletons get hit he will heal them instead
of himself but obviously you should concentrate on Chi You for most of the
time. Eventually his HP will be depleted and leave Yan Hong's body. He will
re-join your party. After the cutscene you need to battle the real Chi You. He
can summon Fire Demons and use Flow of Life. Your tactic isn't much different
than before but try to avoid the Fire Demon as much as possible. Because this
summon does not disappear so quickly you can try to lure it away from the
fight. I founds this stage the hardest of the battle. Once Chi You's health
has vanished once again you'll get another cutscene and you need to fight him
again! Ignore the message about using the stones. This time he summons smaller
versions of himself. Just like before you want to have the summons away from
battle and this shouldn't be any trouble. The third battle does not feature
any healing as far as I know.
Note: You can save your game while far enough away from the enemies in the
      Seal Room. Harassed by Demon works great on the boss. If you are still
      having trouble rattling down his health bar you should reload an earlier
      game and level up some more in the palace/temple. Don't forget about
      creating and refining weapons and equipment.
After you have finally defeated Chi You with the help of the Empyrean Stones,
watch the movie and you receive one of the epilogues depending on several
criteria. See the next section for more details about these endings but beware
of slight spoilers.
In the end you get a completion score out of 100. This score is mainly made up
from you completing quests.
10.)                    FAQ                                          G1000
===============================================================================
i)
   One of my characters is dead, what can I do?
   Characters can be resurrected with resurrection pills or by a miraculous
   doctor who is often found at the local inn. In Baiyue Village, however,
   talk to Brother Huo at the inn and he will resurrect a dead character.
ii)
   I have entered an area and can not go back?
   You can not go back to certain areas so save before you leave. Quite often
   you cannot leave an area before a quest or event is completed so make sure
   you are prepared before venturing into the unknown.
iii)
   Can I change my attribute points?
   Yes. A miraculous doctor can do this in Stoneman Village.
iv)
   What is the maximum level?
   Not sure because after a while the exp drops to a point that it takes a
   very long time to even reach the next level so to get to Level 50 or 99
   would be tough to accomplish, if even possible. I suppose hacking a saved
   game file would fill the experience chart but I really do not think getting
   a higher level than 45 is even worthwhile.
v)
   <Char>'s current skill cannot be used because you don't have enough MP?
   There is a bug in the version I played, that often when you use a skill it
   will have this message. You most likely used the skill but do not have
   enough to cast it again afterwards which is not really a problem so the game
   should not mention anything.
vi)
   Game cannot be saved during battle?
   Yes, that is a good thing mainly. You would not want to save your game a hit
   before you die would you? If you get this message outside the heat of a
   battle then you have probably just finished a battle or are being pursued
   by somebody off screen still. This can be behind a wall even, so just wait
   a while or walk to another empty area to save your game. It could be
   tweaked with a patch one day but isn't a big problem.
ZZ.)                    CREDITS & THANKS                             GZZ00
===============================================================================
Thanks to everyone who contributed hints and tips:
Special thanks goes to ralphrepo for many tips, e-mail me more and I'll add
them. I nearly missed them as he posted on the gmxmedia forum only. UPDATE:
Added more of his great finds, though I have to check more in detail as he
keeps the old "updates" in the thread. I integrated all major things into the
guide, I would think players will know about checking trees and rocks for
items once they play the beginning =)
Great additions came from Durga Chowdary, who reminded me that not all skill
scrolls and potions will be the same in each playthrough and help clear up
some stuff in a few quests. Later he also sent me lots of new stuff to fill
gaps!
GameFAQs for hosting this.
Object Software for creating this game.
GMX for bringing this game to other countries, but not for dubbing the game so
horribly. Parts of the History, Characters and Spells were borrowed from their
manual.
