    Welcome to 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent' for the PC, released by Legacy
    Interactive in 2005.
    
    The game is based on the hit TV show by the same name. It is the fourth 'Law &
    Order' game after the other three original show's releases, although this one
    does not have any court proceedings just like the TV show does not contain too
    much.
    
    Suggestions, comments or errors - tell me about it. Enjoy!

    02.)                    BASICS                                       G0200
    ===============================================================================
    
    First read your manual, it tells you how to play the game. But here are some
    more notes:
    
    The game is very unstable. Make sure you install the patch to get rid of some
    annoying problems such as Goren not walking in the direction you want him to
    and some more evidence glitches. Then the game still crashes a lot, regardless
    of system or hardware you play on. If you do not get crashes, consider yourself
    lucky. What I am trying to say is that you should save often. You can only save
    on different slots so they will clutter up fast. Better save than sorry,
    literally.
    
    You can talk to witnesses with five different tones. Confrontational,
    Deceptive, Flattering, Straightforward and Empathic. Pick one that fits best in
    the situation and to what you are going to ask. I was actually going to add the
    exact speaking methods in the guide but it is possible that you come across
    different questions if you mix up orders, miss evidence or look at unimportant
    items I do not cover. Thus you have to figure this one out by yourself.
    However, only in very rare situations are going to fill up the red circle and
    fail the conversation. If this happens, you have to wait a while and come back
    to this person. It is supposed to be realistic that a person does not want to
    talk to you at this point in time, so let him or her steam off from your bad
    conversation methods and try again in a little while.
    
    When you analyze items or a person, they will be sent to the lab, research and
    surveillance unit automatically. The respective units will also leave a voice
    message on your cell phone when the reports are ready. As you get this message
    a lot and most of the times it is not important, you can ignore it. This will
    be indicated by the hourglass icon in the report list. Note, however, that it
    could also be that you only just sent the item to this unit and they are simply
    not that fast. If the report is still not ready after you have moved around to
    several locations then it will not be ready until you have passes a certain
    point in your investigation.
    
    Tackle the cases in any order you want to. The walkthrough starts with the top.
    After you have solved all three cases, a fourth one will start automatically.
    
    There is much to do in the game the walkthrough does not cover. You can follow
    a lot of unimportant evidence, even investigate the scenes more than is
    required. It enriches the game but unfortunately also makes things more
    complicated, and with the game so unstable (see above) I would be glad to get
    through quickly rather than fear it would crash with a simple change in
    location. However, to extend the game's value you may want to get more out of
    it by exploring on your own, talking to more people and so on.

    East River Bank:

    Take a closer look at the body and analyze the neck wound. Walk left and talk
    to the witness.
    
    
    Medical Examiner:

    Talk to the M. E. about everything.
    
    
    Con-Edison Station:
    ```````````````````
    Enter the alley and take out the wirecutter from the dumpster. Continue down
    the path and look out for footprints, drag marks, cigarette butts and gloves on
    the dirt path on the left before the fenced area. Make sure you have analyzed
    the footprints. Take a closer look at the hole in the fence and use the
    wirecutter to make it bigger. Follow the path into the fenced area and take the
    keys and the knee prints. Back outside, continue right and view the car.
    Inside, check the ashtray for some pieces.
    
    Assemble them, some pieces are overlapping and in the end should look like a
    cigar band. Analyze the band when it is complete.

    View the report on the Cigar Band.
    
    
    Windsor Lounge:
    ```````````````
    Enter the humidor and check for the cigars on the bottom shelf on the right
    side. Speak to the man and leave the humidor. Speak to the bartender, and
    afterwards take the receipt with you. Analyze it.
    
    
    Victim's Residence:
    ```````````````````
    First talk to the neighbor across the hall in 2B. Check the victim's door and
    use the key to unlock it. Near the door is a screwdriver you should take with
    you. Enter the living room and view the photo lying on the table. Enter the
    kitchen and use the screwdriver on the funny looking tile. To open the safe,
    press the buttons so they all show the green. 1 changes 1 & 2, 2 changes 2 & 5,
    3 changes 3 & 1, 4 changes 4 & 5 and 5 changes 5 alone. Grab the lease and
    analyze it.
    
    
    Victim's Brooklyn Apartment:
    ````````````````````````````
    Use they keypad and insert SANCHEZ as the password. Enter the bedroom and use
    the screwdriver on the handle of the nightstand. Look at the painting on the
    wall and place the handle in the only holes it fits into. Take the police
    record. In the other room, look at the photos on the wall and the report on the
    desk.
    
    
    Major Case Squad:

    View the report on the cigar lounge receipt.
    
    
    Melinda Brooks:
    ```````````````
    Analyze her and then chat about everything.
    
    
    Prosecutors Office:

    Talk to both the boss, Howard Schaffer, and Dennis Campbell in the right office
    down the hall.

    Knock on the door and attempt to speak with her.

    out of the door and return. Talk to him again and then do not forget to take
    them from his desk.
    
    Enter the Surveillance Unit and view the report on Melinda Brooks.
    
    
    Residence of Rosa Sanchez:

    Show her the witness protection papers, then talk to her inside.
    
    
    Twilight Motel:
    ```````````````
    Talk to Melinda and show her the Ellen Doherty homicide file. Continue talking
    to her.
    
    
    Vernon Gas Supply Company:

    Walk into the third archway you get to. Check out the oxygen tank near the
    heater. Back outside, enter the last archway and speak to the boss. Show him
    the oxygen tank when he stops cooperating. After the talk, take Frank Doherty's
    time card from the wall.
    
    
    Residence of Frank Doherty:

    Pick up the map on the small table, then analyze Frank. Talk to him for a bit
    and show the time card when he does not want to cooperate.
    
    
    Everwood Cemetery:
    ``````````````````
    Enter the main building. Talk to the man in the room on the right (coffin
    showcase). He will give you information about the Masonic graves.
    
    Walk up the stairs and view the pamphlet on the left side of the room.
    
    Talk to the secretary to get information about the cemetery gate.
    
    Collect the business card on the secretary's desk. Call him on your PDA for
    more information about the grave.
    
    Leave the building through the backdoor and enter the gate of the cemetery. Go
    straight up, then turn right and turn before the small tomb. If you did it
    right, a grave with a red flowers should be on the left of you. Take the
    flowers and the groundskeeper will appear. Talk to him about everything.
    
    
    Major Case Squad:

    View the Surveillance Unit report on Frank Doherty.
    
    Use the laptop to start up the Criminal Profiler program. Submit the following
    items:
    - autopsy
    - car
    - cigarette butts
    - drag marks
    - footprints
    - glove
    - knee prints
    - throat wounds
    - wire cutters
    Then submit Frank Doherty as suspect.
    
    Talk to Captain Deakins about a warrant for Frank Doherty.

    In the living room, analyze the cigarette pack and the letter opener. Enter the
    kitchen and analyze the forensics book.
    
    Enter the bedroom and analyze the shoes as well as the book on the nightstand
    on the right side. Investigate the small box next to the TV and open it up by
    sliding the rows and columns so they spell ELLEN in big capital letters. Inside
    the adjacent bathroom, analyze the cleaning items in the corner.
    
    
    Crime Lab:

    Read the report on the letter opener.
    
    
    Residence of Frank Doherty:

    Speak to Frank, then interrogate him.

    Pick up the champagne bottle near the end of the bed, check the stain on the
    carpet and pick up the wallet too. The torn paper needs to be reassembled. The
    header has 'Theodore Hotel' to get you started. If you play on easy then you
    do not need to rotate the pieces. On the nightstand, take the keys and the
    broken glass. Look at the victim and remove the pillow case. Examine the head
    wound, wrist wound and collect the glass shard near the other arm.
    
    Leave the room to the left. Outside, take the door handle. Go down the
    corridors until you find a bouquet of roses. Take those and then go down the
    stairs. Analyze the brochures on the right of the reception desk, then talk to
    the clerk, Stephen Finch.
    
    Go into the bar on the other side and talk to Alex Change, the bartender.
    
    
    Victim's Apartment:
    ```````````````````
    Talk to the neighbor in #150 first, then enter $151 with the keys.
    
    Go through the living room to the phone, collect the small pencil next to it.
    Enter the kitchen and look at the yellow pad. Use the pencil on it to reveal a
    message. Do not forget to take the pad.
    
    Go up the stairs near the phone and to the right. Check the business card on
    the table and call the number to chat with Renee.
    
    Use the PC. The password uses letters from all the body parts. It is SHIATSU,
    so click the parts in this order. You could have guessed this from books that
    are downstairs. Once you are in, back out and take the PC with you. Now look
    into the small bowl in the shelf on the left side to find a key. Take it and
    use it on the nightstand near the bed to unlock the drawer. Examine the box.
    
    This sliding puzzle is not too hard. The thick white board pieces should first
    be moved to their sides. Then make some space by moving four into the sides to
    arrange the middle. 
    
    When you are done, take the letter that is inside.

    Go into Records and Research, view the report on the Hotel Brochure.

    Talk to Xavier in the lobby. Show him the research report on the Hotel Brochure

    Knock on the door, when Spencer opens analyze him first, then talk to Spencer.

    Gerald again. Once that is done, talk to the ME in the back.
    
    
    Jerry Fulton:

    Go into Records and Research, view the report on Spencer Hastings and Suzanne

    the surveillance report.
    
    
    Jerry Fulton:

    Talk to the secretary to get inside. Talk to Jerry.

    Go into Records and Research, view the report on the Contact List. First you
    are required to fill in the letters by typing them on your keyboard. It spells
    KIRKWOOD.
    
    
    Judge Tom Kirkwood:

    Take the photo with the judge and his wife from the bookshelf. Talk to the
    judge.
    
    
    Jenna Kirkwood:
    ```````````````
    Look on her desk and pick up the to-do list. Talk to Jenna.
    
    
    St. Theodore Hotel:

    Talk to Xavier in the lobby. Show the judge's photo to him for more
    information.
    
    
    Crime Lab:

    View the report on the To-Do List.
    
    
    Jenna Kirkwood:

    Attempt to talk to Jenna. Show the To-Do List Report to move to the
    Interrogation Room. Finish the talk there.

    Use the laptop to start up the Criminal Profiler program. Submit the following
    items:

    - champagne bottle
    - door handle
    - glass shard
    - pillow case
    - wallet

    Submit Suzanne Stokes as a suspect and ask Captain Deakins for a search
    warrant to her place.

    In the dining room, look at the note next to the phone and call it. Chat with
    Marjorie. Enter the kitchen and take the fish off the fridge. Talk to Gerald in
    the living room. Go up the stairs into the bedroom. Check the box on the desk.
    Push the button to start a sequence of notes. They will highlight and you
    repeat the pattern. Take the letter from inside the bible you find in there.
    
    
    Major Case Squad:

    Go into Records and Research, view the report the Letters From Victim. On the
    Criminal Profiler, submit Suzanne Stokes again to get a high percentage.

    stairs. Talk to the daughter until the cutscene takes over.

    and then run down the next sidewalk until you arrive at the hotel.

    behind her and take the one that represents Gemini (looks like II). Go up the
    stairs and turn right. Use the key to open room number five. Enter the kitchen

    the corridors to the lobby. Analyze the security camera hanging on the large
    column. Speak to the front desk clerk after she hands something over.

    Inside the room, look under the bed and use the pool cue to reach the bottle.

    the layers for each frame. Start with B and C as they are large parts, then
