Sept. 25, 2002 I have all of the drivers except for Bobby Hamilton Jr, Bobby
Version 0.4 Wawak, Cale Yarborough, and that would leave 2 or 3 more left
and I don't know who those mystery drivers are...is one of
                    them Harry Gant? Wally Dallenbach?

Having trouble with the "Pay at the Pump" challenge? with
Jerry Nadeau? GoldenFoxx has submitted a good strategy, look
under the Lightning Challenges section and look for that
challenge and read on! Thanks GoldenFoxx!

    Lightning Challenge
Lightning Challenge is your chance to prove you belong on the track. If
you can complete the challenges, you'll earn Thunder Plates which unlock
        cars, tracks, and drivers.

    Thunder License
Get some experience behind the wheel as you learn every track in the
country from "The King," Richard Petty, and other top NASCAR drivers.

    Season
You don't have to win every race to finish the season on top. Compete
consistently in a series of races in quest of a NASCAR championship and
you might end up with enough points to clutch the cup.

    Career
Work your way through the ranks of NASCAR as you compete for 20 consecutive
seasons. Vie for the best crew, try to sign the top sponsors, and
        incorporate the latest racing technology.

I really don't know who James Finch is or heard of him before, but I suppose
he is the owner of the #1 Yellow Chevrolet. Jimmy Spencer is the actual
driver for the 2002 season. Just recently he picked up a win at the Bristol
       night race.

The Wonder Boy has 60 wins and 5 championships and still counting, even
though he is just in his 9th year in the Winston Cup series. Most of
the people know who drive the #24 DuPont and the color scheme thats on
it, Jeff decided to add the flame for the 2001 year. DuPont has reached
its 200th year and Jeff ran a special paint scheme for the 2002 Daytona
500, oh yeah, and he was the 1997 and 1999 Daytona 500 winner!

One of the rookie candidates for the 2002 season, Jimmie Johnson has proved
himself a better racer than Gordon, just joking. Although, it surprised me
that Johnson got as high as 2nd place in standings and he is still hanging
in the top 5s in the point standings. Last year, Johnson racked up 1 win,
4 top 5s and 9 top 10s in the Busch series, he ended up finishing 9th in
       point standings.

Ashton went through several races without a sponsor last year, although
he did a good job not wrecking the car or else it would be a lot to pay
and he wouldn't be in for the 2002 season. With Civil Air Patrol as his
sponsor this year, he has nothing to worry about.

Sterling has been around in the Winston Cup series for quite a long
time and he is still as good as he can be. He has never won a
championship but finished 3rd twice. A two-time Daytona 500 winner
        (back-to-back in 1994 and 1995) collected 2 wins, 12 top 5s and 20
top 10s and finished 3rd in last year's season.

Beside the horrible accident and the long recovery he went through, Steve
is a good racer with several wins with him (first one came at Watkins Glen).
While Steve was recovering from his injuries, Kenny Wallace was substituting
for him the last half of the 2001 season and the first several races in
       the 2002 season.

will Kyle be able to win again?

Yes, this is a SHE! and probably the first female driver ever to be in a
racing game (NASCAR that is). Shawna is not the first female driver in
NASCAR history, she will be in several races in the #49 Dodge and this
will catch the eyes of women all across the nation that women can compete
in NASCAR and not just men.

Schrader does have a cool looking car and some awesome paintjobs, but
he hasn't had a win in a long time. Schrader has 4 wins and came as
far as finishing 4th in point standings, but that was back in 1994,
will he will able to finish in the top 10 in points again?

this lap without taking any damage.

5th race of the season. Can you?

the lead. Stay out front and win the race!

Key: Try to stay on the inside line of the corners to keep the other from
passing you, if you let one go, you'll have a hard time catching up to

Jeff Gordon and get the victory just like Robby!

Key: Take it nice and easy in the corners so that your car doesn't drift up.

He's got 5 laps to go, old tires, and John Andretti coming up quick.
Can you keep him out front for just a few more miles?

Key: Remember, you got old tires on, you'd most likely to swirve around a
little, and try to block the inside line to keep Andretti or whoever
         else from passing down there.

lead. Make the pass and win the race!

Key: Don't go coming in too fast into the corners and try to catch Jeff Burton
before he cross the finish line.

Labonte beat Dale Jr. for the win. With 5 laps to go, you'll need to
do the same to get Bobby to victory lane.

Key: Draft and Pass, stay out in front.

             win the Coca Cola 600?

Key: You got Harvick and Jeff Burton out in front of you, all you have to
do is get a couple good laps and catch Jeff Burton's draft to be able
         to pass him.

Jerry Nadeau ran out of gas on the last lap at Atlanta and narrowly
missed out on his 2nd career win. Can you conserve fuel or increase
your lead enough so that he gets win #2?

Key: This is the part I'm having trouble at. Try to release the gas once in
the while and try to block Bobby Labonte from passing you while doing
         it too.

Hey, just took a look at your strategy guide for NT03 on
GameWinners.com. First off, thanks for getting a guide up so
quickly (I was beginning to think no one was going to post one
    anytime soon).
Anyway, I was reading to see what you had to say about
getting through the Pay at the Pump lightning challenge, and
from what I was reading you seem to be having a similar amount
of problem as to what I did. The only reason I wanted a guide
about this time last week was just because I had spent two
complete days trying to get through that challenge unsuccessfully.
I have now done it three times once on the PS2 and twice on the
X-Box (had a small problem where I accidentally saved over my
previous saved slot). Iíve pretty much figured out a decent
strategy for this challenge if youíre still having trouble.
First off, compete with stability control on. With it off,
youíll almost always get into the corners approaching 190mph,
and that wastes gas. With stability on, youíll do good to get
it up to 180mph before going into turn one. Try and ride the
line around turn one each of the first three or so laps Bobby
Labonte will probably catch you either coming off turn four
at the end of your first full lap or on the backstretch of the second
lap. Try and stay low and make anyone who tries to pass you
do it on the high side. Then smack them HARD into the wall.
Hopefully you can knock him enough out of control that heíll take
out a Marlin, Gordon, and Harvick who almost always seem to
    lurk right behind him.
By the next to last lap youíll probably have both Bobby
and Marlin trying to get around you on the low side. Go as slow
as you have to around turn one without letting them by, then
again, smack them on the backstretch. Hopefully, youíll have
a decent lead coming to the line for the white flag.
If youíve been hugging the line and slowing down enough
to let some cars catch you JUST so you could knock them around,
you shouldnít run out of gas until entering turn three. Try and knock
SOMEONE loose on the backstretch first, and then glue yourself
to the inside white line all the way around. Dale Jr, Marlin, or Michael
Waltrip always seems to catch up at this point, but you can pretty easily
hold them off at even 60-70 mph without gas. If they try to pass, just
knock tap them as soon as you see their front quarterpanel, and then
swerve up to block whoever might be trying to pass high after doing so.
It sounds complicated but once youíve done it two or three times it
starts to become a science. If thereís any way to do this challenge
WITHOUT intentionally knocking the stink out of another driver, Iíd be
glad to know what it is. But itís all about drifting through turn 1 on each
lap, hugging the line off turn 4 on each lap, and making the other cars
pass on the high side. And make sure when you do try and wreck someone
that you donít just nudge them, because theyíll just correct and pass you,
and once a car passes you on this challenge you ARENíT going to catch them.
So when you smack someone, make it count.

    Star Studded (Legend)
    The All-Star
    Lowe's Motor Speedway
    Terry Labonte

Terry Labonte won his 2nd All-Star race in 1999. To do it, he had
to outrace Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte, and Tony Stewart. Now's your
             chance to do the same.

Key: Get some good laps and try to catch Bobby Labonte's draft and then pass
         him.

of pit strategy. On old tires, you've got 5 laps to get around Jimmy
Spencer and hold off Ricky Rudd for win #1!

Key: Get some good lap time and pass Jimmy Spencer, but you have to stay in
front and block the inside line to keep Rudd or someone else from passing
         you.

and hang on for the win.

Key: Get some good laps and beat Dale Jarrett, the others will come soon and
you'd have to try to stay out in the front.

and you need to pass him for the win.

Key: Get some good lap time and pass Newman to get the win.

                                  Thunder Plates
    ==============================================================================
You can get at least 2 or 1 card from completing a Lightning Challenge in
Race Modes option. Just pick a challenge and accomplish it to get a card or
two, and it can be a Legend driver, Busch driver, Sponsor, or Paint Scheme.

If you go in the Quick Race mode and when you go pick a driver, tilt your
control stick to the left or right and you'll see that there are other
paintjobs you can race with, some has the Muppets or the Looney Tunes on
them. Half of the paintjobs on there are locked and the only way to get them
is if you win at a track with a driver (say like..Ken Schrader) and you will
get a new paintjob (it can be his Halloween scheme or something else). One
thing is that you can't win at the same track with the same driver or else you
won't get a new paintjob, but YOU CAN go to the same track at a DIFFERENT
TIME (Bristol day and night, etc.)

Here is the list of Thunder Plates in order from page 1 to 19, left to right:
