Nothing new yet, sorry. 0.41.5 (12-22-11) -- A very minor update to change the mode of Episode 1, Mission 30 to C4 instead of CC4. 0.41 (12-12-11) -- I have completed Missions 24, 38, 39, and 40 of Episode 1. Whoo! Also, I must have mis-counted on my last update... Oh, well. 0.36 (11-23-11) -- Wow, it's been a LONG time, hasn't it? I've been very busy over the past year and a half, what with wrapping up my senior year of high school and then starting college... A lot has changed since March of 2010, including the addition of Episode 2. Since you can start Episode 2 without finishing Episode 1, it makes it a bit harder to adjust the version number properly, so I'm just adding one point for every complete mission added in the update. The Walkthrough section has also been changed quite a bit to accommodate the new episode. Several more missions have been added since the last update. Also, a few NPC names have been changed. Not totally sure why. 0.30 (3-29-10) -- Okay, I lied last time. THIS is the last version rollback-- I realized how wonky things would get if I ever got to 100%. Anyway, I added some new missions. Have fun! 1.21 (3-24-10) -- Life is tough... But that's beyond the point. I haven't been able to play Audition or update this guide until now. Missions 20 and 21 are done. I've adjusted a couple of missions to reflect the new songs in them, and I've also added an amazing tip by -StarGirl. Also, this is the LAST version rollback I'll be doing. When RedBana adds more missions, they will be in Episode 2, so I will start using 2.xx at that point. 1.23.5 (9-6-09) -- No new missions, but just a tiny update to mission 19 and a slight change in badge color. 1.23 (8-16-09) -- This guide just went through a MAJOR reworking. During the most recent update, RedBana changed the songs for a lot of the missions, so I had to rewrite most of my strategies. Here's a full rundown: *Due to the July 2009 update, songs for missions 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 have been changed. *Strategies for missions 1, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19 have been adjusted to fit the new songs. *Mission 20 has been added but not completed, and Mission 2's status has been changed to "incomplete." *The format has been changed slightly to make mission objectives more clear. *The Additional Tips section has been added. *The FAQ has been updated to include relevant questions. *The version number with now correspond with my current Story Mode progress. Introduction --------------- Hello there! I am UltraVioletGirl... or Alicia Jewel... or Hanyu-chama... Whatever you want to call me. This is my walkthrough for the Story Mode of Audition Online in America. If you play another version... well, I don't. Sorry. I made this walkthrough due to the staggering amount of trouble I've had on Story Mode and the same trouble that I've seen others have. I really hope it's helpful! ---------------------- 2. Before You Start... ---------------------- First of all, are you at least level 6? If not, you cannot yet play Story Mode. Don't worry--just get that level up and you'll be playing in no time! Now, if you ARE level 6, to get to Story Mode, go to any channel, make a new room, and select Story Mode from the drop down menu. You don't need to password-protect it or worry about the name, for the system will rename is StoryRoom and disallow anybody but you from entering. (Which really kind of stinks if you want an audience.) Afterwards, just pick a mission (so long as it isn't locked) and go! ------------------------ 3. Script and Story Flow ------------------------ I have NO idea why they decided to number the missions the way they did. Either way, it can be a bit confusing unless you want to log on, check the story flow chart, and then log back off. Or you can just go to this link: http://s420.photobucket.com/albums/pp289/AuditionOnlineScript/ The main album contains a little introduction, and the rest of the script is divided into Episode 1 and 2 sub-albums with each mission also having a sub- album. Naturally, the script contains spoilers, so don't read it if you're not that far yet and don't want any plot spoilers. (Yes, there's a plot to this thing. It's not a very deep one, but it's still a plot.) The script is a major WIP. Since the update, I'm having to redo several tough missions, so completing those may be a tad difficult. -------------- 4. Walkthrough -------------- Yes, this is the walkthrough. Since Episode 2 was added, I've divided this section accordingly. All Episode 1 missions will now begin with 4.1., and all Episode 2 missions will begin with 4.2. If you want to find the mission Bravo Diego, for example, you would search 4.1.14. -------------- 4.1. Episode 1 -------------- Episode 1 has a total of 100 episodes. Please note that you CAN move on to Episode 2 without finishing this one, but the story probably won't make much sense. (Assuming you even follow the story, that is...) ------------------ 4.1.1. The Beginning ------------------ Mission Name: The Beginning Mission Objective: Get three perfects in a row (Perfect x2 combo). Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Digital Soul (102 BPM) Opponent(s): Bobby Rewards: 1600 Beats or 800 Exp Strategy: The first mission of story mode is incredibly easy. This is one of the slowest songs in the game, and all you have to do is get three perfects in a row. The best thing to do is just follow the beat. -------------------- 4.1.2. Bobby's House -------------------- Mission Name: Bobby's House Mission Objective: Get first place. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Can Can (150 BPM) Opponent(s): Bobby Rewards: 4000 Beats or 2000 Exp Strategy: They made Confrontation with Lean easier, so I guess they just had to make this harder. Just have really good reflexes, try to chain, and hope that Bobby doesn't decide to go pro. I don't advise trying to chance this one unless you've REALLY been practicing. Insane Mode is a godsend in this mission. ------------------------------- 4.1.3. Welcome to Audition Town ------------------------------- Mission Name: Welcome to Audition Town Mission Objective: Get 10 Perfects during the song. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Euro 2005 (138 BPM) Opponent(s): Chloe Rewards: 1200 Beats or 600 Exp Strategy: Another pretty easy mission if you can keep up. Luckily, this song has "exploding" drums, so it's a lot easier to keep the beat. If you can't pass this mission, practice on faster songs until you can get the hang of it. ------------------------------ 4.1.4. Confrontation with Lean ------------------------------ Mission Name: Confrontation with Lean/The First Encounter with Lean Mission Objective: Get second place. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Canon Groove (105 BPM) Opponent(s): Diane Dance, Alice, Kei Note, Pablo, and Sara Steppenice Rewards: 3200 Beats or 1600 Exp Strategy: Good news: the song is easier now, AND RedBana fixed Canon Groove so it's on-beat! Whoo-hoo! Now, the only challenge is to get EXACTLY second place. Here we go! First, keep an eye on the NPCs' scores. The NPC's are extremely unpredictable; just when you think they're never going to get a Perfect, they come at you with a x10 combo. Make sure that you keep well behind the first place player while not letting the third place one overtake you. This can be VERY tricky if the first and third place NPC's have similar scores. Part of getting second place in this mission is luck. Second, DO NOT CHANCE. I'm not just saying this because I'm bad at it. I'm saying it because it will get you too far ahead and make it harder for the other NPC's to catch up with you. Just trust me and play a normal game. Finally, DO NOT FORCE MISS. Even if you are very far ahead, force missing can cause multiple NPC's to overtake you since you technically miss two moves when you force miss. Instead, try to get several Cools and Bads; for this, you'll want to watch the bar. Again, just keep trying with these strategies and, hopefully, luck. You'll get it. --------------------------- 4.1.5. You're Under Arrest! --------------------------- Mission Name: You're Under Arrest! Mission Objective: Get no Bads or Misses. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Funky Town (130 BPM) Opponent(s): Felicia Force Rewards: 2000 Beats or 1000 Exp Strategy: This song is shorter and a bit slower than Destiny, so that should make this mission easier for you. The most important thing in this mission is to focus on completing the combo. The best way to do this is not to rush through it. Doing this could easily result in finger slips or miskeys, so it's best to take it slow and steady. Chancing would be a very bad idea for this mission, especially since you don't even have to win. ------------------------------ 4.1.6. Searching for the Pro~~ ------------------------------ Mission Name: Searching for the Pro~~ Mission Objective: Get four Perfects in a row (Perfect x3 combo). Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - Expert Song: Audition - Digital Soul (102 BPM) Opponent(s): Jack Jumpoff Rewards: 2400 Beats or 1200 Exp Strategy: We're venturing into a new mode. Choreography - Expert uses both 4Key and 8Key moves, so if you don't know how to 8Key, now's a good time to learn. Luckily, this is a very slow song, and the objective is easy enough if you have a good sense of rhythm. Just do what you did in mission one with eight keys, and you should do fine. And, yes, feel free to laugh at Jack's name. ----------------------------------- 4.1.7. The Other Side of the Legend ----------------------------------- Mission Name: The Other Side of the Legend Mission Objective: Get first place. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Dream Machine (125 BPM) Opponent(s): Felicia Force Rewards: 2400 Beats or 1200 Exp Strategy: This is actually a really easy mission. Felicia is one of the few NPC's that doesn't chain like crazy, and this song isn't that fast. Just focus on getting all or almost all of the moves with as many Perfects as you can muster and you should win. Feel free to chance, but it shouldn't be necessary. ----------------------------- 4.1.8. Teacher(?) and Student ----------------------------- Mission Name: Teacher(?) and Student Mission Objective: Get three Perfects in a row (Perfect x2 combo). Place does not matter. Song: Audition - Chinese Lady (118 BPM) Opponent(s): Travis Trounce Rewards: 1920 Beats or 960 Exp Strategy: Laugh at Travis's name. After that, get ready for an all-out 8Key game. Luckily, you don't have to win. As usual, focus on the beat and just get three Perfects in a row. If you haven't practiced 8Key very much, now would be a good time to do so. ---------------- 4.1.9. Sunny Day ---------------- Mission Name: Sunny Day Mission Objective: Get at least 300,000 points. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - Expert Song: Audition - Funky Town (130 BPM) Opponent(s): Felicia Force Rewards: 2400 Beats or 1200 Exp Strategy: This is honestly one of those missions where you just have to get lucky unless you're really good at 8Key. The song is less than three minutes long, which barely gives you enough time to complete the mission. The best thing I can say is to try to chain as much as you can unless you're REALLY confident in your chancing skills. Of course, if you're good at 8Keys, this shouldn't present much of a challenge. ------------------ 4.1.10. Fast Hands ------------------ Mission Name: Fast Hands Mission Objective: Get four perfects in a row (Perfect x3 combo). Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - 8Keys Song: Audition - U Know (90) Opponent(s): Travis Trounce Rewards: 2000 Beats or 1000 Exp Strategy: This is the slowest song that you've done in Story Mode so far, and it will be the slowest one for a long time, if not forever. Hopefully, this should make getting four Perfects in a row easy. If not, all that I can suggest is work on keeping the beat. --------------------- 4.1.11. Chloe's Visit --------------------- Mission Name: Chloe's Visit/Bobby's Visit Mission Objective: Get no Misses. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - 8Keys Song: Audition - Digital Soul (102 BPM) Opponent(s): Bobby Rewards: 2400 Beats or 1200 Exp Strategy: Yay! RedBana made this mission easy! If you've been practicing 8Keys, this shouldn't be too much of a problem for you, especially given the slowness of the song. If you can't pass it, try this hint: place your fingers on the 4, 8, and 9 keys. It may seem awkward at first, but it actually helps your fingers adjust to using all eight keys. (Thanks a ton to Vince for that awesome strategy!) Oh, also, I have no idea why this is listed as Chloe's Visit. ------------------------ 4.1.12. Beat Lean Jean 1 ------------------------ Mission Name: Beat Lean Jean 1 Mission Objective: Get first place. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Beat City (120 BPM) Opponent(s): Sara Steppenice, Reno Williams, Yunno Cimi, Bunny Lovesmith, and Sally Strut Rewards: 1600 Beats or 800 Exp Strategy: Finally, we're getting revenge! This song isn't very fast, and the NPC's are all pretty easy, so you shouldn't have too much trouble with this mission. You are free to chance, chain like crazy, and do whatever it takes to win. You don't have to hold back this time. ------------------------ 4.1.13. Beat Lean Jean 2 ------------------------ Mission Name: Beat Lean Jean 2 Mission Objective: Get five perfects in a row (Perfect x4 combo). Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - 8Keys Song: Audition - Elec Bossa (123 BPM) Opponent(s): Lean Jean, Ferris Fuego, Schoolgirl Sue, May Bloombloom, and Casanova Rewards: 2400 Beats or 1200 Exp Strategy: If you're good at 8Keys and chaining, this mission should be easy... emphasis on "should." This song is hard to chain, and it's even harder when you're not very good at 8Key, and the fact that there are five NPC's makes lag an issue, too. Luckily, you have three chances in this song to hit the lower levels. I managed to get a (x5) chain at the very end. Just be thankful that you don't have to win this one. (I just love some of these NPCs' names. May Bloombloom... Hehe...) ------------------- 4.1.14. Bravo Diego ------------------- Mission Name: Bravo Diego Mission Objective: Get first place against the second-hardest NPC in the game. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Canon Groove (105 BPM) Opponent(s): Diego Rewards: 6000 Beats or 3000 Exp Strategy: Welcome to Hell. For this mission, you MUST chance! There's no way around it--Diego will ALWAYS get at least 400,000 points, and he can even pass 1,000,000. Also, he chains. A LOT. Like, at least (x10) in each round. If he gets to 500,000 points before the Finish Move, Alt + F4 it out of there. If he's actually getting a reasonable score, chance until you've passed him by at least 50,000 points or so, otherwise he could easily catch up. If he starts chaining again, chance. Be careful on the Level 9 moves, though. If you miss the Finish Move on this song, you're probably going to lose. If this mission sounds impossible, it's not. There are very rare cases where Diego will only score about 400,000 points and get a chain of less than (x5). (In my case, he got a (x4) and 408,330 points.) If you can get lucky and get one of these, you should win easily. If not... then just keep trying and practicing this song. If I can get a (x6) chain, then you can, too! ----------------- 4.1.15. Celebrity ----------------- Mission Name: Celebrity Mission Objective: Get five Perfects in a row (Perfect x4 combo). Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Team Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Beat City (120 BPM) Opponent(s): Rawb, Baron, and Trisha Teammate(s): Diego and Delphine Rewards: 3200 Beats or 1600 Exp Strategy: Ugh! They changed the song AGAIN! *sigh* Okay... My rage aside, this shouldn't be too hard. 120 isn't that fast, and you can easily get a (x4) combo with enough skill/luck. Nothing major here, especially since you don't even have to win. ----------------------- 4.1.16. With a Teammate ----------------------- Mission Name: With a Teammate Mission Objective: Get a team first place. Mission Mode: Team Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Can Can (150 BPM) Opponent(s): Kane, Monica, and Marg Teammate(s): Bobby and Chloe Rewards: 2000 Beats or 1000 Exp Strategy: At 150 BPM, this is the fastest song that you've done in Story Mode so far (unless you've done mission 2 already). Luckily, you've got two NPC's on your side who can chain at any point in the round, but don't depend on them too much. You still need to get as many Perfects and chains as you can. I don't suggest that you chance past Level 1 unless you're, like, a master. Part of this mission is luck. Sometimes, all three of your opponents will chain in large numbers while Bobby and Chloe get Cools and Greats, but sometimes it will be the other way around. Just keep trying. If you've made it this far, you should be able to beat this. If not, practice faster songs and work on your reflexes. (On a random note, I find it funny that these are the same NPC's from Mission 19 with another one that rhymes with "Wayne.") ------------------- 4.1.17. The Prophet ------------------- Mission Name: The Prophet Mission Objective: Get first place. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Canon Groove (105 BPM) Opponent(s): Pluto Rewards: 2000 Beats or 1000 Exp Strategy: This guy is like a toned-down version of Diego. He'll chain in the double-digits sometimes with other smaller chains scattered about in the round. However, he can be defeated with chancing and chains of your own. The song is VERY slow, so chancing shouldn't be too hard as long as you've practiced it before. Although he'll get reasonable scores more than often, he can still get up to 500,000 in one round. Be careful about chancing the Level 9 moves if you're not confident in your chancing skills yet. The LAST thing you want to do in this mission is miss the Finish Move. Also, I don't understand why they changed Wayne's name to Pluto while he still refers to himself as Wayne in the dialog and mission objectives. --------------------- 4.1.18. For the Dream --------------------- Mission Name: For the Dream Mission Objective: Get no Bads or Misses. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - Expert Song: Audition - Digital Soul (102 BPM) Opponent(s): Bobby, Chloe, Jack Jumpoff, and Travis Trounce Rewards: 2000 Beats or 1000 Exp Strategy: Whoo-hoo! This mission is finally easy! This is almost an exact copy of Mission 11 with Choreography - Expert mode, instead. Just like Mission 11, if you're good at 8Keys, you should be fine for this mission. If not, see said mission for a tip. ------------------------- 4.1.19. A Flicker of Hope ------------------------- Mission Name: A Flicker of Hope Mission Objective: Get five perfects in a row (Perfect x4). Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - 8Keys Song: Audition - Destiny (132 BPM) Opponent(s): Pluto, Monica, and Marg Rewards: 3600 Beats or 1800 Exp Strategy: Ugh. They made this mission harder. I have some confirmed cases of people finishing this mission but still failing it. I'm not sure if it's a glitch or what, but it seems to be an issue. Anyway, putting that aside, this is a fairly difficult mission if you can't 8Key on faster songs. All that I can say is to just follow the beat and try to chain on the level sixes. --------------------- 4.1.20. Another Start --------------------- Mission Name: Another Start Mission Objective: Get third place or better. Mission Mode: Crazy Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Blackout House (130 BPM) Opponent(s): Gloria, Ally McHeels, Proud Paul, High Class Lass, and Karen Kutoff. Rewards: 4000 Beats or 2000 Exp Strategy: Welcome to Crazy Choreography. Those with weak constitutions should leave the building immediately. In all seriousness, this is the first CC4 match in Story Mode. I suggest that you take advantage of two huge point-builders: Random Chance and the newly- added Insane Mode. Random Change has a fairly large point multiplier, and it can pull you up to the top if you just use it in levels 6 and 7. (For advanced players, feel free to use this on the higher levels, too.) Insane Mode is AAU's newest feature. You can activate it by pressing the "Insane Mode" button in the upper-right hand corner of your screen. You must be the DJ of the room to do this. In Insane Mode, if you get a perfect, you have a chance to build up some Insane Points, which is NOT an exaggeration. If you're not good at the crazy moves, a few Insane Perfects can bump you FAR ahead of the NPC's. The best part is that the NPC's can't use this feature. If you're good at CC4, then you may not need the above tips, but if you're still new at it, give them a shot. They're well worth it if you practice enough. If you complete missions 1-20, you get a silver E1 badge next to your name. ------------------------------ 4.1.21. The Start of Adventure ------------------------------ Mission Name: The Start of Adventure Mission Objective: Get third place or better with at least 10 Perfects. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Canon Groove (105 BPM) Opponent(s): Bobby, Chloe, Travis Trounce, Diego, and Pluto Rewards: 2000 Beats or 1000 Exp Strategy: This should be a pretty easy mission. The song is slow, the mode is easy, and the objective is simple enough. You're free to use chancing and Insane Mode if you feel like you need to, but you shouldn't have much trouble with this mission. -------------------------------- 4.1.22. Bobby's Special Training -------------------------------- Mission Name: Bobby's Special Training (er, Chloe's...) Mission Objective: Get 15 Perfects and no Bads. Place does not matter. Masson Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - You (136 BPM) Opponent(s): Chloe Rewards: 2800 Beats or 1400 Exp Strategy: I love you, Chloe... Er, what? Oh! The guide, right. Well, all I can say is to not chance or go to Insane Mode since you don't have to win, and just do your best! The song is 4 minutes, so that gives you plenty of time to get all the Perfects you need. And no, I'm not sure why the game mixed up Bobby and Chloe AGAIN. CONFUSION: The in-game description says you can't Miss, but I got 3 Misses and still passed. Uh, what? Okay. ------------------- 4.1.23. A New World ------------------- Mission Name: A New World Mission Objective: Get 1st place, 15 Perfects, and no Bads. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Funky Town (130 BPM) Opponent(s): Jeremy, Billy Backstep, Fernan, Roby, and Daria Rewards: 3600 Beats or 1800 Exp Strategy: We're back with 4Keys again, which should make this mission slightly easier. Unfortunately, 15 Perfects is a lot to get in one game, and holding 1st place against some pretty tough NPC's is no easy chore either. But I believe in you! Er... That is, just use Random Chance and Insane Mode like in the previous missions, and you should be able to pass this. ------------------- 4.1.24. Big Match 1 ------------------- Mission Name: Big Match 1 Mission Objective: Get 1st place. Mission Mode: Choreography - 8Keys Song: Audition - You (136 BPM) Opponent(s): Francis Fairy, Perna, Daphne, Judy, and Abel. Rewards: 5200 Beats or 2600 Exp Strategy: This is a rather difficult mission. These NPC's are pretty decent, and you have to do 8Keys on 136 BPM. The only reason I managed to beat it was because I got 20 Insane Perfects in one game, netting me over a million points, but if you can do 8Keys on a fast song like this (especially with Random Chance on), you should still be able to beat it. ----------------------------- 4.1.25. The Experience Begins ----------------------------- Mission Name: The Experience Begins Mission Objective: Finish with at least 450,000 points and no Bads. Place does not matter. First Meeting with Crazy Crew ------------------------------------- Mission Name: First Meeting with Crazy Crew Mission Objective: Get at least 400,000 points and no Bads. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Crazy Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Dance Dance (132 BPM) Opponent(s): Steve Slacker, Athena, Cara Cop, Daisy Showers, and Jessica Jitter Rewards: 4000 Beats or 2000 Exp Strategy: This isn't a very hard mission if you know what you're doing. As usual, use Random Chance and Insane Mode to get some extra points. It shouldn't take but a few tries to get this down. ------------- 4.1.28. Run!! ------------- Mission Name: Run!! Mission Objective: Get a team 1st place. Mission Mode: Team Crazy Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Hands Up!!! (135 BPM) Opponent(s): Kei Note and Isis Fox Teammate(s): Travis Trounce Rewards: 4000 Beats or 2000 Exp Strategy: Again, a pretty easy mission if you use Random Chance and Insane Mode. The only thing is that Travis isn't always a reliable partner, so part of this mission is luck. Also, WHY DID TRAVIS THROW A KITTEN?! ------------------- 4.1.29. Big Match 2 ------------------- Mission Name: Big Match 2 Mission Objective: Get 10 Perfects, no Cools, and no Bads. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Crazy Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Audition - Roller Coast (125 BPM) Opponent(s): Ursula, Owen Poplock, Oliver, Kevin, Phil Rewards: 4800 Beats or 2400 Exp Strategy: There is one reason that I hate this mission: lag. Getting no Bads is one thing, but being just a bit behind and then hitting a lag spike can net you one Cool too many. Of course, if you have good internet and/or a good graphics card, you shouldn't run into that problem. And, as mentioned in other missions and the general tips, you can try moving to a low-populated server if all else fails. Either way, how easy this mission is will partially depend on how good you are at CC4 on a song with moderate BPM. Unfortunately, I am not so good at it. One strategy you can try is waiting to get all 10 Perfects and then just stepping away from the keyboard--this mission doesn't penalize you for getting Misses. ----------------------- 4.1.30. A New Companion ----------------------- Mission Name: A New Companion Mission Objective: Get 1st place, four Perfects in a row (Perfect x3 combo), and a total of 15 Perfects. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - In the Groove (130 BPM) Opponent(s): Perna Rewards: 4000 Beats or 2000 Exp Strategy: This is a bit tougher than usual. Perna is a pretty decent NPC, and the Perfect requirements are no walk in the park, either. I suggest that you DON'T use Chance until you get your (x3) combo. Otherwise, just use whatever tricks you have up your sleeve to win. Also, I can never seem to get Insane Mode to activate in this mission... Huh. Update: Apparently this mission is C4 instead of CC4. I'm not sure when this happened... ----------------- 4.1.31. Hall Cup! ----------------- Mission Name: Hall Cup! Mission Objective: Get 1st place. Mission Mode: Choreography - Expert Song: Audition - Canon Groove (105 BPM) Opponent(s): Laurel, Sirus Samba, Christina Cross, Gilbert, and James Junebug Rewards: 5200 Beats or 2600 Exp Strategy: This isn't too terribly difficult, but some of these NPC's like to chain a lot, so be warned of that. If you can chance 8Keys, feel free to do that, but a few well-placed Insane Perfects can easily put you up top. -------------------------------- 4.1.32. Bobby's Special Training -------------------------------- Mission Name: Bobby's Special Training (for real this time!) Mission Objective: Get at least 450,000 points and 10 Perfects. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Crazy Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Driving At Night (140 BPM) Opponent(s): Bobby, Abel, Fernan, Janet Timberlag, Daria Rewards: 4800 Beats or 2400 Exp Strategy: Once Bobby gets his foot out of his mouth, we can begin... Anyway, the good news is that there are no "get no blank" objectives here, which is a lifesaver since this song is pretty fast. The bad news is that you still have to rack up 450,000 points and 10 Perfects. My advice, as usual, is to follow the beat and use whatever tricks you have to get Perfects. It's not the easiest mission in the world, but it's doable. ------------------- 4.1.33. Big Match 3 ------------------- Mission Name: Big Match 3 Mission Objective: Get 1st place. Mission Mode: Crazy Choreography - 8Keys Song: Audition - Digital Soul (102 BPM) Opponent(s): Bonita Sonata, Vivian Rockwell, Adolph, Prince Vibe, Freddy Frump Rewards: 6000 Beats or 3000 Exp Strategy: If you're bad at CC8 like me, Insane Mode will be your saving grace. This song is REALLY slow and has a rather easy beat, so getting Perfects shouldn't be too difficult, allowing you to rack up the Insane points. I managed about 700K using it and a bit of chancing at low levels. Of course, if you're good at CC8, then you might not need these tricks. Also, is it just me, or does Prince Vibe look like Michael Jackson? ------------------------------- 4.1.34. Crazy Crew's Misdeeds 1 ------------------------------- Mission Name: Crazy Crew's Misdeeds 1 Mission Objective: Get a team 1st place. Mission Mode: Team Choreography - 8Keys Song: Audition - Canon Groove (105 BPM) Opponent(s): Sweetfeet, Cody Cash, and Greg Goggle Teammate(s): Travis Trounce and Perna Rewards: 4400 Beats or 2200 Exp Strategy: This can be a bit tough if you're not good at 8Keys. As usual, just use Insane Mode, Chance (if you can handle it), and luck. Perna can usually get a lot of points, but Travis is less reliable. ------------------------------- 4.1.35. Jack's Special Training ------------------------------- Mission Name: Jack's Special Training Mission Objective: Get 25 Perfects and no Bads. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Crazy Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Beat City (120 BPM) Opponent(s): Jack Jumpoff Rewards: 6400 Beats or 3200 Exp Strategy: Well, looks like Perna has managed to make two men shove their feet into their mouths... This wouldn't be so difficult if not for the sheer amount of Perfects you have to get. This mission will require you to get a Perfect on quite a few moves... in CC4. Luckily, the song is rather moderate, so if you can keep up and time your moves correctly, you should be fine. If you're having trouble getting Perfects due to lag, try changing to a low- populated channel. It's what saved my butt. :P ------------------------------- 4.1.36. Crazy Crew's Misdeeds 2 ------------------------------- Mission Name: Crazy Crew's Misdeeds 2 Mission Objective: Get a team 1st place. Mission Mode: Team Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Canon Groove (105 BPM) Opponent(s): Prince Vibe, Darius, and Adolph Teammate(s): Perna and Travis Trounce Rewards: 5200 Beats or 2600 Exp Strategy: This is a lot easier than the last mission. As usual, just use Random Chance, Insane Mode, and anything else you've got up your sleeve. The only problem that could arise would be Travis dragging your team down. -------------------------- 4.1.37. What's Missing...? -------------------------- Mission Name: What's Missing...?/What's Lacking...? Mission Objective: Get 20 Perfects and 20 Greats. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Driving at Night (140 BPM) Opponent(s): Perna Rewards: 5200 Beats or 2600 Exp Strategy: Good news: we're back to C4! Bad news: it's a fast song. The most difficult part of this mission will probably be getting the 20 Perfects you need. Luckily, this song is quite long and gives you plenty of chances to get them, and since it's only C4, you'll get back to Level 6 quickly if you're having trouble on the upper-level moves. Like before, move to a low- populated channel if you think you're lagging. ----------------- 4.1.38. The Feast ----------------- Mission Name: The Feast Mission Objective: Get at least 4th place with three Perfects in a row (Perfect x2 combo). Mission Mode: Crazy Choreography - 8Keys Song: Audition - Canon Groove (105 BPM) Opponent(s): Bobby, Chloe, Travis Trounce, Diego, and Perna Rewards: 6400 Beats or 3200 Exp Strategy: If you haven't completed Mission 33, then welcome to CC8! Despite the fact that this song is really slow, this mission is not easy, especially if you're still new to CC8 and/or are bad at 8Keys in general. Diego is the most obvious threat to your victory, but all of these NPC's (with the exception of maybe Travis) are pretty good. Use whatever tricks you have up your sleeve to rack up some points, whether it be chancing, Insane Mode, or just some awesome chains. A warning, though: the NPC's cheat. They get one last Level 10 move after you start doing the win/lose pose, which can knock you out of 4th place if you don't have enough points. ----------------------------------- 4.1.39. Final Practice for Hall Cup ----------------------------------- Mission Name: Final Practice for Hall Cup/Last Practice for Hall Cup Mission Objective: Get 600,000 points and no Bads. Place does not matter. Mission Mode: Crazy Choreography - 4Keys Song: Audition - Beat City (120 BPM) Opponent(s): Travis Trounce, Abel, and Daria Rewards: 6000 Beats or 3000 Exp Strategy: This is a lot like Mission 27 but with a slower song and a larger point requirement. It's really not that difficult--by now, you should know what works best for you as far as getting points goes, so just use that. If you feel like you're just barely going to make a move, force Miss. It's better than getting a mission-killing Bad. You can also try the trick of walking away when you get 600,000 points so you don't mess up. ------------------------ 4.1.40. For the Hall Cup ------------------------ Mission Name: For the Hall Cup Mission Objective: Get a team first place. Mission Mode: Team Crazy Choreography - 8Keys Song: Audition - Canon Groove (105 BPM) Opponent(s): Jake Highstep, Rachel Raver, and Harriet Frolic Teammate(s): Travis Trounce and Perna Rewards: 7200 Beats or 3600 Exp Strategy: This is a lot like Mission 38. (These missions are getting a bit redundant, aren't they?) Same song and almost the same mode, the main difference being that now you're in a team. Perna is the more reliable of your two teammates, but Travis is probably going to drag you down. Your opponents are rather skilled, as well, so you might be in for a challenge. Whatever you did to beat Mission 38 should suffice here. Also, the NPC's cheat again, but since it's Team mode, it shouldn't interfere too much... hopefully. If you complete missions 21-40, your E1 badge will turn blue. ------------------------------------ 4.1.41. Forgotten World (Incomplete) ------------------------------------ Mission Name: Forgotten World Mission Objective: Get first place with 5 or more players in the room. This task must be completed 5 times. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Your choice Opponent(s): Other players Rewards: 3200 Beats or 1600 Exp Strategy: Unless you've jumped ahead to Episode 2, this could be your first mission in which you must go against other human players. Basically, you make a room, set the mode to Choreography - 4Keys, and get at least 4 other people in the room with you. The song can be set to anything you want, and all you have to do is complete the objective 5 times (though not necessarily in a row). If you want/need to, you can ask the others in the room to let you win. -------------- 4.2. Episode 2 -------------- As stated before, you can move on to Episode 2 without completing Episode 1. Episode 2 currently has 20 episodes. ---------------------- 4.2.1. An Ordinary Day ---------------------- Mission Name: An Ordinary Day Mission Objective: Get 3 Perfects in a row (Perfect x2 combo) with 4 or more players in the room. Place does not matter. This task must be completed 3 times. Mission Mode: Choreography - 4Keys Song: Your choice Opponent(s): Other players Rewards: 2000 Beats or 1000 Exp Strategy: If you haven't gotten very far in Episode 1, this could be your first mission in which you must go against other human players. Mission Mode: Choreography - 8Keys Song: Your choice Opponent(s): Other players Rewards: 2800 Beats or 1400 Exp Strategy: This mission is exactly the same as the previous one, except you're on 8Keys now. Like before, you can pick any song you want. The only reason I haven't completed this mission yet is because I'm dreadfully shy. ------------------ 5. Additional Tips ------------------ This section is for the tips that either don't fit into the walkthrough or could easily apply for anywhere in the game. Feel free to submit your own tips by e-mailing me. For 8keys, place your fingers on the 4, 8, and 9 keys. It may seem awkward at first, but it actually helps your fingers adjust to using all eight keys. (Cut and paste from my Mission 2 strategy, submitted by Vince.) A lot of people make the mistake of pressing arrows like crazy for faster songs. While this may seem like a good idea, it's not the best one to start with. Start by pressing the keys a bit slower to avoid finger slips. As you get better, you can go faster and faster. (Submitted by me.) Chancing is a very useful tool... if you can get the hang of it. If you're the host of the room you are in, you can adjust the chance settings by using the drop-down menu in the upper-right hand corner of the screen. (This does include Story Mode.) I highly recommend that you start with only one chance arrow per bar and then move up as you get better. (Submitted by me.) "during the 'break' between every move, when the lvl 9 or 11 sign (during the 'break') is a bit brighter than it normally is. The move AFTER that one is the finish move. So, if you chance and you are afraid of missing that move which will result in a 'bye bye finish move' situation, you know ahead that you probably don't want to chance that one in case." Insane Mode is a GREAT way to get your score up if you're good at getting Perfects. NPC's can't use it, either! (Submitted by me.) If you're lagging, try moving to a low-populated server. A: See section 7.1. for details on how to contact me. Q: How come you mention older songs in a lot of your strategies? A: In late July '09, Audition had a HUGE update that included replacing most of the songs in Story Mode, presumably to make it easier for newer players to pass the first 20 missions. These older songs will not be mentioned in Missions 20 and beyond due to the fact that I had not reached those missions before the update. Q: What do those E1/E2 badges next to your name mean? A: The E1/E2 badges are special achievements that are given when you complete a certain chunk of missions. You get one for every 20 missions you defeat. I'll tell you which is which in the context of the guide. (For instance, Mission 20 of Episode 1 will also have the color for the badge you get in its strategy.) --------------------------- 7.
