Question from SurvivingDonut

Why can't I connect to the server?

L4D Single Player works fine, but when I join a lobby to play Co-Op, it doesn't work. I can go in a lobby and wait for the game to start, but when the loading screen comes up, it says Connection Failed After 10 Retires, or something. Anyone know how to fix this? I really wanna start playing. :0

Try checking your firewalls (mcaffee, windows, AVG) and see if it works better without them, make sure to turn them back on when your done!

two things:

1. restart your mondem/router and make sure your firewall isnt blocking the game.

2. enter the console (~) and type openserverbrowser. this will bring you a list of dedicated servers. try out the ones with the lowest ping and it should work. other than that it is launch day and glitches are bound to happen :P

Generally, this only happens if you're attempting to connect to a person who's hosting the game directly from their computer AKA a "listen" server.

Try finding a dedicated server.
