  1. While it seems that the console is inaccessible in ME2 (for now). Several players have found ways to augment the game (i.e. cheat) There are trainers available, as well as various threads detailing changes that you can make to ini files (in particular Coalesced.ini)

    Relevant thread:
    The general cheat thread: www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=944906&topic=53222801
(watch for Dazedy's posts, he starts posting on page 23)

There is also a save game editor floating out there, but I'm pretty sure everything you need to know is discussed in that thread.

  1. Being that the game is based on a different engine than ME1 (Unreal Engine 2 for ME2), AND supposedly Bioware did more than just remove the console command from the .INI file this time around, it's gonna be a while before the console is figured out, if ever.

  2. i believe what they are talking about is this :

    "Console Cheats
First, enable the console by going to Documents>BioWare>Mass Effect>Config on your computer. Then open BIOInput in Notepad. Find the line [Engine.Console] and under it add the line ConsoleKey=Tilde. Then when playing in game simply press the tilde key (above tab) to open the console, then type in the desired cheat."

which is already on the Mass Effect page for "CHEATS"

  3. This isn't an answer, but the dang form only allows two types of response and neither fit!

michaelmj11: What you believe they are talking about is irrelevant if you believe they're talking about Mass Effect 1, when they clearly state Mass Effect 2, and the first response even call attention to the fact that Mass Effect 1 and 2 are different in just that very respect.

Still trying to figure a way to get at the ME2 console myself, hope springs eternal...?

  4. People by using editing the Coalesced.ini.
and it works much better than just using the console and more things can be done so hardly anyone at this point in time can be bothered unlocking the console if it is even possible
