"Great free gamebut can be a pain sometimes."
To start off, Combat Arms is a very decent game for $0.00. You have nothing to lose. We'll cover the basics and give you a good feel on how the game is played. Free sign up, free download, how much more to I have to emphasize that it's free? You start out as a grunt as expected and you have many options on how to customize your character. And they throw you straight into the action unless you're new in which you can take a training course that gives you a brief rundown of PC gaming.
Video : 8/10
The graphics are superb for a games that costs not even a penny. The models for the weapons and gear are down to the very last details and my video card is trash. You do not need a great computer to run this game beautifully.
Audio : 6/10
The audio is pretty decent. You don't really notice the quality. Nothing special. There are quite a few gun sounds but many are reused (i.e. Reloading, drawing , firing etc.). Sometimes the audio cuts out completely. Not bad though. Good enough.
Gameplay : 7/10
This is where it gets tough. Nexon has an ENORMOUS amount of options on how to pwn noobz. First off is the shop and storage part. You start out with some pretty basic guns that are permanant but of very low quality as in you will be defeated by many with better guns. They are weak but they will suffice. Nexon gives you the option of "renting" guns where you own the gun for a certain amount of time from 1 day to forever with ranging prices. They also give you the option to use real money and buy Nexon cash or "NX" where it unlocks many better guns and gear and many other delicious little treats. They also have a very nice modification system that allows you to put attachments on certain weapons like scopes, silencers, and magazine extensions. Now that you're all geared up it's on to the battle. You can create a room or join an existing one. Some have passwords and some have an "Elite Mod" who can remove you from a room without a vote. You may kick others without this function but 60% of the room must agree. They have quite a few game modes from Team Deathmatch, One Man Army, Searcg and Destroy and a campaign-esque mode where you can choose to kill hordes of zombies or terrorists with friends in exhcange for some sweet gear if you win. After completing a match you are rewarded with experience and money to spend on in-game equipment. They have a very army-like ranking system which is to be expected. Gaining high enough ranks gives you permanant equipment that has higher stats than the default ones. That wraps up the gameplay now to rant.
THE MANY CONS.
Here we go. The cons. First let me say that it was a good effort but in the end Nexon has failed me. They are a very VERY greedy company out to suck the life out of you claiming that it is a "free" game. They want you to soend your money and they don't care about anything else. They refuse to fix things and when they do they end up making things worse. One of the worst things they need to fix is their hack/cheating prevention system. It doesn't do anything. Hackers plague the Nexon community ruining everything. They kill you from the sky and you cannot kill them. When you kick them from the game they crash and end the game and give you spam. I could go on but I'd end up punching a hole in the wall. The glitchers seem to have stopped. In their early phases glitches were everywhere, but jow they're gone. Next up in the unfairness of the rich little fat kids. Sorry if that offended you. They have added characters called "Specialists". That's fancy for heavily armored superheroes at the speed of light shooting bombs everywhere. Yup.
So in the end, you will be frustrated I can garantee that, and you will feel like taking your computer and setting it on fire in your driveway. But for a feee game you can't get any better.
Overall : 7/10
-many ways to fight
-FREE FREE FREE
-potatoes for developers
Thanks for reading. Best of wishes.
