Welcome to 'Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island' for the PC, released by Autumn Moon
in 2010.

Suggestions, comments or errors - tell me about it. Enjoy!

02.)                    BASICS                                       G0200

'Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island' is a pure point & click adventure, best
compared to 'The Curse of Monkey Island' (you will see why soon). There are not
annoying mini-games, no action sequences that distract from the pointing &

This game is easy to pick up and if you did not get a manual with the game
(digital downloads ought to have one too) you will be all right as well. I will
not explain how to play the game here; this is a walkthrough and not a manual.
However, there are some tips below you might find useful.

Hints & Tips:
* The interaction brings up a skull which has three actions: hand, eye and
  mouth. They are kind of obvious what they do but just as example, hand will
  take an item, eye will usually look at the item and the mouth will talke to
* Press TAB to see all hotspots and locations. This is VITAL to avoid pixel
  hunting. It may make games easier but I find this a good addition (perhaps
  an option to make the gamer harder would be nice).
* In your inventory, click on an item once and then move the mouse outside the
  inventory screen to use it with something in the area. Else you can also
  use it on the other two characters for some help on how this item might be
* As you might have noticed, ghosts do not carry items around without being
  spotted. This is why most of the items are not taken but only get a mental
  image or idea in the inventory slots. The character will later use this when
  the time has come. Sometimes an item is actually picked up itself.
* Double clicking on a location pointer will usually skip the walking. It does
  not always work.
* Space skips sequences (they might stutter on older machines anyway, don't
  know if this was just my PC).

03.)                    WALKTHROUGH                                  G0300

Papa Doc:
Since you cannot continue to the right, return left to the Entrance. Take the
bag of chicken feed, then look at the fence posts to find that there is a loose
post. Lift it up. Go to the plantation and attempt to pick up a coconut from
the carts (not the smashes ones). You cannot take them yet since the zombies
prevent it. Shake the ladder to the granary. Open the bulging door at the top
of the granary to dump some more coconuts, some being "a lot". Use the coconut
image in your inventory on one of the zombies, then do the same for the other
and watch the fight ensue. Return down the path and use the chicken feed with
the lava moat and Doc should make a trail (if not then you should look at all
the hotspots here to give Doc the idea).

Go to the classroom, continue to the Hall, then enter the bedroom and throw the
potted plant over the voodoo symbol. Touch the wardrobe for your mask and robe.
Open the music box on the right. Open up the inventory and drop the music box
on Blue Belly to identify the tune. Touch the candle holder. Ask Jane about the
candle holder and then use it to reveal a secret panel. Ask Jane about the
cryptic symbols, then combine the symbols with the song lyrics. Touch the
letter and the ink from the secret compartment. Ask Jane about it, then return
to the hall and touch the fruit and vegetables on the table. Ask Blue about the
fruit and veggie, then use them on the water flagon. Return to the bedroom and
use the cabbage water on the letter to read it. Examine the curtain rope before
going back to the hall and continuing into the classroom. Push the bookshelf
and attempt to tie the rope around the idol. This gives you a new icon about
making a lasso thus ask Jane about doing so. Touch the mop she left behind
and walk to the classroom. Touch the JuJu stick. Enter the Oracle room. Apply
the cabbage water on the skull, then clean it with the mop.

Interact with the banana tree to drop one on the floor. The zombie will keep
coming and fall down. Walk to the wharf and topple the barrel to trap the
zombie guard. Enter the warehouse, push the large statue and climb up to the
attic Jackie Chan style. Open the shutters, touch the drums and throw them
outside the shutters. You still need to move the middle drum because you will
notice the falling guard does not quite knock out the other one. When it is
done you can pick up the Hand of Glory Snuffer. Use it on the creepy hand
candle inside to wake up the crew. You can now move on to the ship deck to the
right of the warehouse.

Take the box of wood near the center (bottom of the stairs), pull off the metal
shield and use the wood on it. Push the crate near the stern lantern and open
up the lantern itself. Use the block and tackle to set the sail on fire. Use
the controls on the side of the ship to lower the net, then push over the
barrel the zombies are getting water from to have them go to the other one,
and the rest is history.

Blue Belly:
Continue down into the tunnels, steal the rope and open the chest of riches.
Ask Jane about the tools. Steal the cargo net, use it on the wooden box nearby
and then lift that up to the hook at the ceiling. Push the box against the
zombie. Return to the previous area and use the files on the padlock. Ask Jane
about the tools to pick it. Take the shovel and the pick axe. Continue past the
tunnels into the apothecary.

Push the books on your side of the screen and you can then slowly walk right
to the mud pool. After the scene, return to the apothecary and knock over the
books right or left and steal from the opposite side. There are three item to
steal: Mysterious Bottle, Chicken Blood Bottle and a couple of regular bottles
which do not need any distraction to be stolen. Each time you steal something
you end up at the mud pool and have to return here. After all stuff is stolen
there will be a Demon Bottle on the right shelf which gets rid of her once
knocked over. Take the small vat.

Continue on to the steam vent. Take the bamboo bundle, then cut the two bottles
with the files and combine the new glass disks with the bamboo stalk (not the
bundle). You are automatically back at the mud pool. Attempt to read the glass
fetish hanging above the bodies with the spyglass only to find the third is
blocked by a feather. Add the shovel to the rock in the center to create a
makeshift catapult, then fling the acid bottle with it to burn off that
feather. Use the chicken blood on the catapult too. Use the pick axe on the
bamboo ledge in the background. Push the log in the center to move the bodies.
Look at the fallen bodies (this adds them to the inventory) and enter the
steam vent.

Look at the voodoo symbols on the wall, then ask Papa Doc about them. Use the
bamboo on the cauldron and move it. Tie the rope around the boring rock on the
left side, then use this combination on the hook above. Use this on the
precarious boulder to trap more steam. Kick the prepped-up boulder on the right
for the other steam. Talk to Papa Doc about the fallen bodies, then use them on
the cauldron. Finally, use the molten rubber cauldron on the spigot on the
left, combine this idea with the bamboo, and then use it to finish off this

After a long cutscene you are still playing as Blue Belly. You can talk to the
governor but as you know it will just be a waste of time. After some more
talk with the mermaid you are finally back in control. Return to town, then
steal from the boat to get a line. Enter through the gate and tie the rope
around the root of the tree, then use this on the beehive to distract the
guards. Enter the wedding and take all the mints. You will be back in the

Talk to the customers on the right about a job, the continue talking about rum
and find that your dad is waiting for a delivery. Ask your dad about it. Return
to town and enter the sewer (this should be ok now that you talked to the
customers and your dad). Pick up the dead body, then use it on the unlucky dog.
Use the files on the cell with the dead body. Use the following icons to talk:
3-2-1 (from left to right), then 4-4-3-4 and finally 4-1. This should
automatically take you into the next area.

Next you have to put out all the fires. Push the flour bags nearby, the planks
behind the left pirate, shaking the armor behind it, then move the treasure
chests in the top right. Touch the left pirate to fire into the treasure chest
and rescue the rum.

Back in the tavern, go left from the town center to the beach. Enter the
leviathan's blow hole. Look at the bag of mints in your inventory to find a
warning label. Use the bag on the single barrel on the right. Unplug those
barrels on the left, then use the spices to get out of the leviathan. Throw
the barrel of mints into Levi to get the ship out.

Examine Dead Matey on the beach, then ask Jane about the notebook you find.
Talk to your sister in the tavern about her pencil. Use the pencil on Jane to
get the note. Go to the Back Wall of the governor's mansion and use the note on
the windows. You have to aim for the top right window thus click the mouse
button when the horizontal bar reaches the far right and the vertical bar hits
the peak. This is quite easy.

Papa Doc:
Exit the jail cell and then continue to the guard room. Take the club leaning
against the table, then continue right to the cliff. Take some leaves and stuff
them into the chimney. Return downstairs and use the club on the barrels in the
back. This loosened the beam a little, so grab it. Use the club on the other
three barrels. Follow them into the prison hall where you should use the nearby
torch on the spilled rum.

Scene switches to your real body which can now climb out the window to the
cliff. Grab the vine (with good juju) and use it on the carved snake head at
the corner. Click on the throne room across the water to get there.

Take the bunny toy and combine it with the jaguar. Exit left to the drawbridge
and interact with the chair. Take the chair once the guard is gone and use it
on the capybara cage door. Use the jaguar/bunny toy on the capybara. With the
drawbridge down. 

After some scenes you need to go back to the throne room as a ghost. Pick up
the bowl left of the emperor and the flower vase on the right table. Use the
vegetables on the guard, then add water to it and interact with the shield on
the wall to kick out the guard. Pick up the Itzacoka doll on the table. Take
the wine and salt shaker at the emperor's right, the laundry basket on the far
left. Use the laundry basket, wine and salt shaker on the parrot perch. Add the
laundry basket with the cart, then push the cart. After the scene, use the
parrot on the tree. Combine the Itzacoka doll with the parrot, then combine the
parrot with the real Itzacoka.

Click on the Boogeyman Bayou to go there. Pick up the rusty harpoon, fishing
net and net hook. Combine the harpoon with the rope (was the net). Enter the
ballroom and talk to Grimjaw. Talk about everything. Since this does not help
you, go to the cellar and kick the support beam, then go to the balcony. With a
distraction in place, use the hook on the chandelier, add the rope & harpoon to
the chandelier and interact with the rope on the right to return the
chandelier. Untie the rope again to finish this.

Talk to Papa Doc about the map. From the waterfalls, first go to the grotto
(left). Take the bed sheets, scroll, golden bowl, bottle of rum, bottle of wine
(cork), candle. Naturally you want to ask Papa John about the scroll. Attempt
to clean the mirror with the sheet corner (you may also ask Blue Belly how to
clean the mirror), then return to the waterfalls and to the next area.

Grab the bucket. Talk to the pirate, with one of the choices giving you his
dirk. Use the bucket on the rightmost waterfall, the one that falls straight
down (the others are salt water). Back at the grotto, push the large statue on
the right and use the dirk to scrape off some chalk. Take the chunk and the
black rock. Use the rum on the pirate chair. Combine the dirk with the black
rock, then use this fire starter on the pirate chair. Pick up the ashes.

Return to the ship, place the bowl under the scary barrel, adding the cork too.
Dump the ashes into the barrel, pour the full bucket contents as well. Use the
heating idea with Papa Doc to speed this up. Add the candle to the barrel and
you will finally get soap. Return to the grotto and use the soap on the mirror.
Finally, use chalk on the mirror.

After a lot of cutscenes, grab the rope above you, then the 'Loa of the Sea',
the bone chandelier, the rope to the right of the chandelier and finally
enter the temple. You have to duel with the guy. Pick the following icons to
win: horizontal, crossed blades, diagonal, then diagonal, horizontal,
diagonal (this kind of works like rock, paper, scissors).

Blue Belly:
Tip over the bird bath to wash away the salt, then enter the tunnels again.
Walk right twice to the apothecary. Look at the large book, ask Papa John to
read it for you. Try to take the chest (interact with the zombie). Return to
the entrance. Grab the oily rag, light it on fire with the torch and watch the
smoke. Return outside to the cemetery and knock over the idol. Use the smoking
fixture to get down. You will automatically talk to the zombie. Mention the
Queen, then say you are the King and then make him state his name and rank.

Papa Doc:
This part is a little annoying but you cannot fail. Each time you click on a
spot the Queen will fire at you and Papa Doc will deflect it back at her. Most
of the time it will miss. Your aim is to hit the surroundings actually. You
must hit that three times and as far as I know you must first stand in the
front left corner, then far back center, and finally back left. You may have to
tweak this a little but there are is no time limit.

Q) Why does this game look so much like Monkey Island?
A) It does look very similar to 'The Curse of Monkey Island', and the interface
   is almost a carbon copy of the one used in that game. The reason is quite
   simple, the developer (Autumn Moon) employs many ex-LucasArts people
   including veteran William V. Tiller who has worked on Monkey Island and
   other adventure games before.

Q) Are there any similar games?
A) You can try 'A Vampyre Story' and of course Monkey Island if you have not
   done so yet.
