Do i NEED to play witcher 1 to understand this?

  1. I only buy high rated games....... and thats the reason i bought this....i dont know any thing about the story so do i NEED to buy the first part to really understand this?? and is witcher 1 any good? Im used to playing Dragon age or Fallout style RPGs and this click to attack style is not what i expected....:(

    You don't need to play first. It only helps you understand the powers and how to use potions. But you can learn them in the witcher 2 and don't need to play it at all.

  1. The first game didn't do much to explain the signs either; relying heavily on the manual that came with the game, much as this second one does.

    The only benefit to having played the first Witcher is that you know who all the characters are (save for the new ones that are introduced as you go along).

    Notable characters like Dandelion and Zoltan and even Triss are from the first game, so it just sheds some light on why you start out in Triss' bedchamber...not that it really needs much of a story there, but still.
