Equipping more than 3 items?

After beating the volcanicrab Chante says I can equip 4 items, but for some reason I'm only able to equip 3.... any idea what's going on?

Did you try scrolling down past the third item?

Answer

You misread it then.
You cannot equip 4 items until the 3rd area is completed.
